Cop Killer from "Shawskank" escape on hunger strike in prison
Nobody cares. Starve and die already
If he gets too skinny, he can just slip through the bars.

The convicted cop killer who famously escaped from an upstate prison in 2015 hates his new digs at Attica so much so that he’s gone on a hunger strike, sources told The Post.

David Sweat, 37, was transferred to the infamous facility on Nov. 17 from another maximum security lockup in the Finger Lakes region ‐ then stopped eating six days later, according to a petition prison officials planned to file Friday.

Attica officials are worried the already-slim inmate could die if his hunger strike continues and are seeking a judicial order allowing him to be fed through a tube.

"Mr. Sweat has refused all solid food," the petition says.

"Mr. Sweat is drinking fluids, but he is not drinking a sufficient amount of fluids to maintain his overall health."
Give him an emetic
The defiant cop killer has said he’s "not happy" at Attica, and wants to be transferred back to the prison he came from, Five Points Correctional Facility in Romulus, according to the documents

Sweat is serving a life term for murdering a Broome County sheriff's deputy in 2002.

Pentagon Announces First-Ever Audit Of The Department Of Defense
[NPR] "The Defense Department is starting the first agency-wide financial audit in its history," the Pentagon's news service says, announcing that it's undertaking an immense task that has been sought, promised and delayed for years.

Of the tally that is starting this week, chief Pentagon spokesperson Dana W. White said, "It demonstrates our commitment to fiscal responsibility and maximizing the value of every taxpayer dollar that is entrusted to us."

"Beginning in 2018, our audits will occur annually, with reports issued Nov. 15," the Defense Department's comptroller, David L. Norquist, said.

The Defense Department has famously never been audited, despite receiving hundreds of billions of dollars annually and having more than $2.2 trillion in assets.

For the Pentagon to get to this point, it has been, as they say, a process. The U.S. government established requirements for each agency to present financial statements back in the 1990s. But for more than 20 years, the Department of Defense has lagged other agencies that were following modern accounting standards, reporting what they received and spent.

Taxpayers Paid $220K to Settle Case Involving Rep. Alcee Hastings
Remember this dirtbag? Former disgraced judge - elected Democrat?
[Rollcall] The Treasury Department paid $220,000 in a previously undisclosed agreement to settle a lawsuit alleging sexual harassment that involved Florida Democrat Alcee L. Hastings, according to documents obtained by Roll Call.

Winsome Packer, a former staff member of a congressional commission that promotes international human rights, said in documents that the congressman touched her, made unwanted sexual advances, and threatened her job. At the time, Hastings was the chairman of the Commission on Security and Cooperation in Europe, where Packer worked.

Hastings has called Packer's charges "ludicrous" and in documents said he never sexually harassed her.

"Until this evening, I had not seen the settlement agreement between the Commission on Security and Cooperation in Europe (CSCE) and Ms. Packer," the congressman said in a statement Friday night. "This matter was handled solely by the Senate Chief Counsel for Employment. At no time was I consulted, nor did I know until after the fact that such a settlement was made."

Hastings said that the lawsuit that Packer filed against him and an investigation by the House Ethics Committee were ultimately dismissed.

"I am outraged that any taxpayer dollars were needlessly paid to Ms. Packer," he said.

The 2014 payment to settle the case involving Hastings was not apparently included in a breakdown of payouts to settle discrimination complaints against House lawmakers from the past five years released last month by the Office of Compliance, which approves the payouts. That total included only one payment to resolve a sexual harassment claim ‐ $84,000 paid to settle a complaint against Texas GOP Rep. Blake Farenthold.

The Senate hasn't released similar numbers.

L.A. Times Obtains Secret List of Bad Cops
California is the only state in the country that blocks prosecutors from seeing entire police personnel files. It's also one of 22 that keeps information on officer discipline from the public.

But now a list compiled by the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department of about 300 deputies with histories of dishonesty and misconduct has been obtained by the Los Angeles Times. The document is dated 2014, the year it was first put together by the then-sheriff, John Scott.

The Times cross-checked the list with court records and news reports to find out why the officers on it were placed there. The roster includes an officer who pepper-sprayed an elderly man, another who forced a woman he pulled over to perform oral sex on him, and one who doused a shirt with taco sauce to replace a bloodied shirt that went missing as evidence.

According to the Times, 69 percent of the officers were on the list for dishonesty. The top reasons after that were family violence, "immoral conduct," stealing, and sex.

The sheriff's department wanted to share the list with prosecutors to warn them of potentially problematic witnesses. Were the list shared with prosecutors, prosecutors would be obliged to share it with defense attorneys too. A police union—the Association for Los Angeles Deputy Sheriffs—sued to keep the list private.

According to the Times, the officers on the list were potential witnesses in more than 62,000 felony cases since 2000. That represents a gross miscarriage of justice if even a small fraction of those cases actually saw these problem cops serve as witnesses.

There's an argument to be made that many of these officers shouldn't even be allowed to hold on to their jobs. One of the most effective ways to reduce police brutality is to remove problem cops as soon as they present themselves instead of waiting until they commit an unnecessary act of violence and then get defended anyway. Instead, layer upon layer of protection—state civil service rules, union contract provisions, and so on—often inoculate officers from any real consequences for their actions.

"Do we go back and overturn every conviction now?" Elizabeth Gibbons, an attorney who has represented the police union, asked the Times. "That's a can of worms that gets opened if the court adopts the department's argument in this case."

Well, yes: If the convictions are wrongful, they ought to be overturned. The criminal justice system should be centered on justice, not convenience. And if police misbehavior makes justice less convenient, that's an argument for removing bad cops sooner rather than later.

The police union thinks the list should be secret because it could harm bad cops' careers or threaten prosecutions in which they participated. But dishonest and abusive officers should see their careers harmed.

Armed Oklahoma City carjacker has very, very bad day
[Miami Herald] This suspected carjacker picked the wrong brothers to mess with, police say.

Brothers Juan and Justo Sop were getting home from work at 11 p.m. Sunday in Oklahoma City when an attempted carjacker tried to take their vehicle, the brothers told KFOR.

But these brothers weren’t about to let the attempted carjacker make off with their vehicle, police said. Instead, the two brothers started to fight back ‐ and when a third brother, Antonio, heard the commotion outside the house, he ran out to join the melee as well, police said.

"We got him down on the ground, but he took out a knife," Antonio Sop told KFOR. "Then we grabbed the knife, took it away from him."

Donald Rumsfeld: Trump's decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital was a 'no brainer'
[Wash Examiner] Former Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld called President Trump’s controversial decision to officially recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel a "no brainer."

"I guess the reason it's an issue is because there are countries around the world that would prefer that it had not been done," Rumsfeld told Fox News host Laura Ingraham on Wednesday night. "It's a no brainer. It's the right thing to do. President Trump made the right decision ‐ he stepped up and did it. It's inevitable that there will be some criticism about it. But I just can't imagine any country in the world that doesn't believe that they have the right to have their capital where they want it."

The status of Jerusalem is highly controversial, as both Israelis and Palestinians have claimed it as their capital.

Ingraham asked Rumsfeld if Trump would be blamed should the decision provoke terrorism or attacks on U.S. embassies.

"I don't see it that way at all," Rumsfeld responded. "It seems to me that the president made the right decision. He stepped up and did it. It's inevitable that there will be people that don't like it and will make noise about it, but the idea that it could lead to a stream of terrorism, I just don't see that at all."

The State Department issued warnings to American embassies around the world to increase security, ahead of the expected announcement, and Hamas, a Palestinian militant Islamic group, said they would call for a new Palestinian uprising if the U.S. named Jerusalem the capital of Israel.

Massachusetts AG Maura Healey wants climate change warnings on gas pumps
[Wash Examiner] Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey wants gas station owners to post warnings at the pump that say customers are spurring climate change by filling up their tanks.

The idea came up in oral arguments in Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court Tuesday in a case challenging Exxon Mobil’s record on addressing the threat of global warming and the attorney general's claim that the company misinformed the public over the threat.

Justice Frank Gaziano asked how gas stations are involved in "deception or fraud related to climate change."

"Because, your honor, the gas sold at those gas stations is among the premier contributors to global warming," Healey's lawyer, Richard Johnston, responded.

Healey has asked for information from Exxon related to the marketing of fossil fuels in Massachusetts, "including advertisements, in particular," Johnston said.

"So, I own Joe's gas station on the corner, I'm a franchisee, and you're telling me that I have information that relates to how Exxon Mobil, this gi-normous corporation, has marketed and lied on climate change?" Gaziano asked.

"If they’re doing sales and marketing in Massachusetts, and they know things that they should be telling people ‐ either consumers or investors ‐ that would be relevant to the consumers or investors’ decisions, then they’ve gotta make that part of their advertising. They can’t simply go around and say, ’We’re selling you this terrific product,’ and keep to themselves what they know about the possible impacts of those products on global warming," Johnston said.

GREAT NEWS: Deputy A.G. Rosenstein Delighted With the Conflicted, Out-of-Control Monster He Created
[Doug Ross @ Journal] In an interview with a local D.C. TV station, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein admired the monster he created, who now runs an alleged investigation into supposed Russia-Trump collusion but which quickly morphed into what amounts to a silent coup against a sitting President of the United States:

Rosenstein has much to be accountable for. Yes, Virginia, this is a witch hunt. Robert Mueller III was appointed special counsel after his friend, the vindictive former FBI Director James Comey, committed a federal crime by leaking a memo which was a government record to the press. Mueller has picked staff and prosecutors as if he were stocking Hillary Clinton’s Department of Justice. He has picked a bevy of Clinton donors, an attorney who worked for the Clinton Foundation, a former Watergate assistant prosecutor, and even a senior advisor to Eric Holder. Objective professionals all.

Thanks to Rosenstein, Mueller is in fact colluding with Comey and Clinton moles to enact revenge on President Trump for Comey’s firing, something which even Comey said Trump was constitutionally entitled to do. There is no evidence of collusion with Russia or obstruction of justice. It is not obstruction of justice for a President to exercise his legal and constitutional authority.

The facts and the lack of an actual crime will not stop Robert Mueller. Just show him the man, or woman, and he will show you the crime. As Professor Alan Dershowitz writes in the Washington Examiner:

Dr. Robert Owens: Impeach Mueller!
[Dr. Robert Owens Chronicles the History of the Future] IMPEACH TRUMP! IMPEACH TRUMP! IMPEACH TRUMP!

That is the screech we’re about to hear emanating from the denizens of the swamp. Sure Maxine Waters and a few others have been singing this song since election night when their plans for the last nail in our coffin went down in flames. Now it’s beginning to percolate through the monotone media megaphone. And though this was predicted in this column by this author before the inauguration it still has a jarring impact on the senses.

Back in the Dream Times when the Deep State was able to turn Watergate into a Silent Coup the precedent was set. If someone tries to overturn the moneychanger’s tables they must be destroyed. If it’s a president, even one elected for the sole purpose of adding some reality to the mirage of our functioning oligarchy which portrays itself as a dysfunctional democratic republic, they must be hounded out of office, disgraced, and discredited.

Israeli strikes kill 2 Hamas men after Gaza rocket attack
[AP] Israeli airstrikes killed two Hamas members early Saturday following a rocket attack on Israel, in the latest fallout from President Donald Trump’s decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, which has roiled the region and the larger Muslim world.

The Israeli military said it targeted four Hamas facilities in response to rockets fired the previous day, including one that landed in the town of Sderot without causing casualties or major damage. The military said it struck military warehouses and weapons manufacturing sites, after which Hamas said it recovered the bodies of two of its men.

Israel considers Hamas responsible for all rocket fire emanating from Gaza, which is home to other armed groups. Some residents of Sderot and other border towns spent the night in shelters, fearful of a resumption of rocket attacks from Gaza that have led to three Israel-Hamas wars over the past decade.

The flare-up followed clashes Friday between Palestinian protesters and Israeli troops in dozens of West Bank hotspots and along the Gaza border. Two Palestinians were shot dead in Gaza and dozens were wounded in the West Bank. In Jerusalem, prayers at Islam’s third-holiest site dispersed largely without incident. Large crowds of worshippers across the Muslim world staged anti-U.S. marches Friday, some stomping on posters of Donald Trump or burning American flags.

Saturday marked the third Palestinian "day of rage" following Trump’s announcement and more protests were expected. In Bethlehem, Palestinians hurled stones at Israeli troops, who responded with tear gas, rubber bullets and stun grenades.

Trump’s announcement on Jerusalem, and his intention to move the U.S. Embassy there, triggered denunciations from around the world, with even close allies suggesting he had needlessly stirred more conflict in an already volatile region. The status of the city lies at the core of the Israeli-Palestinians conflict, and Trump’s move was widely perceived as siding with Israel. Even small crises over Jerusalem’s status and that if the holy sites in its Old City have sparked deadly bloodshed in the past.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas’ Fatah movement and other groups have called for mass protests while its rival, the Gaza-based Islamic militant Hamas, is calling for a third violent uprising against Israel, though such appeals have largely fizzled as Palestinians have become disillusioned with their leaders.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
A historic watershed shames Britain and Europe
[Jpost] It’s a seismic event, a great decision and a historic watershed. This is where blackmail and intimidation are faced down. This is where appeasement ends.

President Trump’s speech recognizing Jerusalem as Israel’s capital has signaled that, for America, the century- long Arab attempt to destroy Israel’s legitimacy ‐ the essence of the Middle East conflict ‐ has failed.

...Appeasing those who threaten violence doesn’t reduce it. It encourages it. The more concessions are offered, the more the Palestinians believe even greater violence will deliver them final victory. That’s why the Oslo-process offer of a Palestine state led to the Second Intifada; that’s why the expulsion of Israeli residents from Gaza led to the all-out rocket onslaught against civilians in southern Israel.

...But of course, recognition reflects a far deeper and broader reality ‐ which is why it’s much more important than moving the embassy. For it makes explicit what by moving the embassy would only be implicit.

This is because the Arab war against Israel is not a conflict about the division of land. It is a war of extermination based on a refusal to accept that the Jews have any right to that land. And Jerusalem is central to that refusal.

...Which is why the refusal by Western countries to recognize the unique Jewish right to Jerusalem has been so malevolent. It’s not just that this made Israel into a second-class country, uniquely prevented from asserting its own capital. Much worse than that, it gave legitimacy to those who wanted to eradicate altogether the Jews’ right to the city and the land.

By their opposition to Trump’s speech the British, French, Germans and the rest have revealed that, like the Palestinians, they don’t think the Jews have the right to any part of Jerusalem at all. They appear to think that Jewish Jerusalem, part of the State of Israel since its creation in 1948, can be bargained away to those who would destroy the Jewish homeland altogether.
Israel is a symbol of Nation State Civilization - European elites are its deadliest enemies. Of course they hate Israel.

When playing the role of honest broker is not the goal
[Jpost] Three visual elements caught the eye when US President Donald Trump announced his decision on Wednesday to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and begin plans to move the embassy.

The first were the Christmas trees in the room. The second was the manner in which Trump ‐ famously known as someone who ad libs during speeches ‐ appeared to be reading this announcement word for word from a carefully crafted script. And the third was the presence over his shoulder of Vice President Mike Pence.

Pence, an Evangelical Christian, is an unabashed, unapologetic supporter of Israel who ascribes religious meaning to the rebirth of the Jewish state.

Those who say that Trump’s decision removes the United States as an honest broker in the Middle East peace process and who see the removal of this "honest broker" tag from the Americans as something that is a negative, should consider what Pence said three years ago in Jerusalem.

At a town hall event put together by Republicans Abroad Israel, Pence ‐ then the governor of Indiana and a possible 2016 presidential candidate ‐ said that America should not aspire to be an "honest broker" in the Middle East, but rather communicate to the world that while it wants an honest and fair solution to the conflict, "we are on the side of Israel."

...Interestingly, Trump’s proclamation about correcting a historic anomaly and letting Israel enjoy the right, like every other country in the world, to decide where its capital is, was only one of two significant developments in Washington this week touching upon the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

True, that proclamation garnered banner headlines, triggered condemnation from European states-people, sparked furious responses from Palestinian, Arab and Muslim leaders, and led to the declaration of three "days of rage."

But another significant development took place on Tuesday when the House of Representatives overwhelmingly passed the Taylor Force Act, named after the US citizen stabbed to death by terrorists in Tel Aviv in 2016.

That bill, which is likely to pass easily in the Senate and be signed into law by Trump, would significantly cut the annual $280 million in US assistance to the Palestinian Authority unless it stops paying subsidies to jailed terrorists and their families.
And knowing Trump, we can suspect that the timing of the embassy proclamation is not incidental

Schools, Like Government, Are Best in Small Packages
[Townhall] It’s nearing Christmas, and everyone knows the best gifts come in small packages. The same can be said of government and of schools, too.

Micro-schools are an emerging trend of what Education Next defines as "one-room schoolhouse meets blended learning and home schooling meets private schooling." According to EdWeek, "The definition of a micro school is still being hammered out, but a consensus seems to be coalescing around a few core details: Schools have no more than 150 students in grades K-12; multiple ages learn together in a single classroom; teachers act more as guides than lecturers; there’s a heavy emphasis on digital and project-based learning; and small class sizes, combined with those other factors, make for a highly personalized education."

The micro-school movement is spreading like wildfire in some places. Acton Academy, a system of micro-schools based in Austin, Texas, describes itself as, "One-room schoolhouses for the 21st century," and has expanded to a network of more than 50 schools since its inception in 2009. What people seem to like about these tiny schools are the benefits that are also inherent in limited government and all institutions that are small in scope: They’re accessible, easy to manage, give the consumer a say in how things work and are relatively inexpensive.

"As we look at our comprehensive high schools in America, they’ve been competing over years to offer more courses, more athletics, and it increases their cost structure," a micro-school parent told EdWeek in 2016. "We see the same thing in higher education. But increasingly, there’s a segment of their market demographic that feels overserved.

"With small buildings, few faculty and staff members, and a curriculum built largely around free, online programs, micro-schools strip education down to the bare essentials,"EdWeek also reported.

Separatist NAACP plans separate event as POTUS heads to civil rights museum
[The Hill] The NAACP said Friday night that it would hold a separate event in Mississippi after President Trump announced he would attend a civil rights museum opening there this weekend.

NAACP head Derrick Johnson, Jackson Mayor Chokwe Lumumba (D) and Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-Miss.) are set to hold a press conference in Jackson, Miss., on Saturday morning.

The civil rights advocates said their event was meant "to pay homage and recognition to those individuals who have dedicated their lives to the civil and human rights of Mississippians minus the presence of President Donald Trump."

Johnson and Rep. John Lewis (D-Ga.) announced this week that they would not attend the opening event for the Mississippi Civil Rights Museum after Trump said he would go.

"It’s going to be very difficult for me to be there and be on the same platform with him," Lewis told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

"I think his presence would make a mockery of everything that people tried to do to redeem the soul of America and to make this country better," he added.

White House spokesman Raj Shah told reporters aboard Air Force One en route to a campaign rally in Florida on Friday night that Trump's remarks at the museum will emphasize unity.

The NAACP made sense in the '50s & '60s, since the '70s they have become less and less needed and more and more hurtful.

I guess that they think blacks have their best chances back on the plantation run by whites of the Democrat persuasion.

-Land of the Free
This Week in Guns, December 9th, 2017

By Chris Covert
Rantburg.com

Israeli firearms trainer Gideon Imunim warned on his Facebook page that he fears the Beturbanned Bad Guys are planning attacks on Jews worldwide, including in the US and Europe, starting with Wednesday’s attack on a kosher restaurant in Amsterdam.

It looks like the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act is stalled and will likely die in the Senate.

I think that is a good thing. I told an NRA fundraiser a few weeks ago that, in my view, the law is unconstitutional and will probably not survive a court challenge. I regard the law as a needless expansion of current US federal power over an area they should not even be regulating. I told the NRA fundraiser they should focus on bringing down the entire gun control edifice. He asked, "Do you think that's possible?" I don't recall my reply, but my sentiment now is if the NRA wants another $50 emergency donation, they had best start moving to restore gun rights nationwide.

A commenter at Hershel Smith's blog mentioned something that bears repeating here: a number of southern states already recognize each other’s Carry Concealed permits. I would add that establishing compacts among several states is an acceptable and time tested means of resolving regional matters without federal government intervention.

Debates on more gun control laws rage on social media. I was perusing a local TV news Facebook page, and saw comment after comment about how the government has gun control laws to protect us, literally dozens of them to every one against gun control. It is a massive mountain of ignorance and stupidity that impels individuals to state that they are pro government fascists, refusing to see that when gun owners' rights are destroyed, the government will come after everyone else's.

It is why ”Molon labe,” famously said by the Spartans battling against overwhelming odds, has such resonance.

Gun owners, especially AR and AK owners, are the last line of defense against the power of government.

Loads.

Rantburg's summary for arms and ammunition:

Pistol ammunition prices were steady. Rifle ammunition prices were mostly steady.

Prices for used pistols were mixed. Prices for used rifles were mostly higher.

Third rocket from Gaza explodes in residential Sderot
[IsraelTimes] Projectile damages parked cars; two people suffer shock. Attack comes after IDF targets 2 Hamas, the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood, sites in response to earlier rocket-fire, reportedly wounding at least 14

A rocket fired from the Gazoo Strip went kaboom! in the Israeli town of Sderot Friday night, causing damage to several parked cars.

There were no casualties, though two people suffered shock.

"There was a huge kaboom. I heard glass shatter and car alarms. The house’s walls shook," a resident told the Ynet news website.

The rocket was the third launch of the evening, and came shortly after Israel struck Hamas targets in Gazoo in response to the previous projectile-fire.

The Israel Defense Forces said it hit a Hamas training facility and a weapons depot belonging to the terror group.

The Hamas-run health ministry in Gazoo said that 14 people were maimed, suffering what it described as light to moderate injuries. Rooters reported that as many as 25 people were maimed, including six children.

Witnesses told the news agency that most of the casualties were not Hamas men but civilians who lived in a building near the training camp.

The strike on Hamas positions came shortly after the army said its Iron Dome missile defense system intercepted a rocket fired from Gazoo. Sirens blared in communities near the Gazoo border soon afterwards, as a second rocket was fired. The army said it did not identify an impact.

The IDF said there were no injuries or damage from those earlier rockets.

members in several regions.

"The sleeper cells of IS deployed in four regions in Diyala, including Hamreen, Waqf basin, al-Zour and al-Nada basin, have recently witnessed internal disputes as leaders seek dominating the whole group," Sadiq al-Husseini, head of the security committee of Diyala provincial council, told AlSumaria News on Friday.

"IS in Diyala disappears after its military presence is eliminated . Only sporadic cells are there," Husseini added.

On Wednesday, Husseini said in remarks that an intelligence team managed to infiltrate the Hamreen Mountains area and killed IS commando chief in the province.

Being an area of tough geography, Hamreen served as a suitable haven for the Lion of Islam group.

An IS leader and his lover companion were reportedly killed last week as festivities broke out between the group’s elite leaders in Um al-Sharr in Mutaibija, on borders between Diyala and Salahuddin.

Turkish Army prepares to invade Kurdish enclave in northwest Aleppo
[ALMASDARNEWS] The Ottoman Turkish Army has been building up their forces around the northwestern countryside of the Aleppo Governorate these past two months, raising concerns inside the Afrin Canton of a possible invasion soon.

Week after week, the Ottoman Turkish Army has been sending convoys comprised of 100+ soldiers to the outskirts of the PYD governed Afrin Canton, where they have built military posts around several roadways.

While this region is considered part of the de-escalation zone, the Ottoman Turkish Army has ignored the ceasefire and carried out several attacks against the predominately Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG).

Despite support from the U.S. in other parts of the country, the YPG is surrounded and cutoff from their forces in other provinces, making it difficult to withstand a potential siege.

[ALMASDARNEWS] The jihadist civil war taking place along the Idlib-Hama axis has racked up a whopping 440 dead Lions of Islam in the last 60 days, the pro-opposition Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) alleged on Friday.

The jihadist civil war began in October, when the so-called Islamic State

(IS) launched an attack against the al-Qaeda linked Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham
rebel group inside the northeastern countryside of the Hama Governorate.

As a result of the Islamic State’s offensive, the terrorist group has now entered the Idlib Governorate and captured several towns inside this province in northern Syria.

Making matters worse for the jihadist rebels of Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham, they find themselves under a heavy attack from the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) near the strategic town of al-Rahjan.

With the pressure mounting, Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham may not hold onto al-Rahjan for much longer, as the Syrian Army’s Tiger Forces redeploy their troops to the northeastern countryside of Hama.

Syrian airbase bombed out of existence by Russian warplanes
[ALMASDARNEWS] Yesterday the Russian Aerospace Forces grouping in Syria carried out an unprecedented number of Arclight airstrikes against bully boy targets in the country’s northwest, bombing among many things a key jihadist-occupied airbase.

According to reports, one of the prime targets for Russian airpower yesterday was the Abu Duhur airbase which straddles the administrative borders between Aleppo and Idlib provinces.

Warplanes are said to have bombed jihadist fighters and assets within the key military installation over the course of at least five sorties.

Following the virtual defeat of ISIS in eastern Syria, the Russian Aerospace Forces grouping in the country has shifted its operational focus towards the rebel-held northwest of the country.

According to military-affiliated sources, on Friday, Russian warplanes carried out over one hundred airstrikes against bully boy positions, gatherings, bases and movements in the provinces of Idlib and Hama.

At the present time, Syrian pro-government forces are embroiled in an offensive against jihadist-led militias in northwest Syria. One the key strategic objectives of this offensive is to reclaim the Abu Duhur airbase.

IS claims over 115 US casualties in Syria, Iraq

(IS) released an info-graph on Friday that alleged their forces inflicted 115+ casualties on the U.S. military in Iraq, Syria, and Afghanistan.

In addition to the 115 casualties, Is alleged they have destroyed at least 10 tanks and military vehicles, while also carrying out eight suicide operations behind enemy lines.

IS would not stop there, they would conclude that their forces also foiled at least five US air landings in Afghanistan, Kirkuk (Iraq), and Raqqa (Syria).

The U.S. forces often releases information regarding their casualties and loss of military equipment, so the Islamic State’s claims are very likely exaggerated and/or false.

It said that Interpol handed over Mr Siddiqui to a "Pak intelligence agency last night" and he was moved to Islamabad. However,
death is not the end. There remains the litigation over the estate...
Pak diplomatic officials in the UAE maintained silence on the development, it added.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Feel Good Story of the Day
[FOX] A father eating at a Popeye’s restaurant -- and carrying his licensed handgun -- shot a would-be robber dead Wednesday after the thief threatened the man's family at gunpoint and demanded the dad's belongings.

The San Antonio Police Department said Ander Herrera, 19, walked into the restaurant on South Flores Street just after 9 p.m. Wednesday and demanded Carlos Molina hand over his cash.

Molina, 32, said he had no money because he had just bought his family a meal. The gunman then turned toward the counter and started yelling at a manager who was trying to take cover, FOX29 reported.

Authorities said two more members of Molina’s family came out of a restroom amid the commotion and the suspect pointed his gun at them.
Nicely executed. Eye contact shifts, time to empty your mag.
Molina then whipped out his gun and shot Herrera several times, killing him.

It wasn't clear if any charges would be filed in connection with the incident, but officers said they believe Molina fired at Herrera in defense of a third person, FOX29 reported.

Former FBI Agent Unleashes on Strzok: ‘That Pr*ck Used the Dossier to Obtain a FISA Warrant'; 'The Entire Hierarchy Was Corrupted'
[Gateway Pundit] Media was set ablaze Thursday after FBI Director Christopher Wray testified at a House Judiciary Committee oversight hearing. He defended the FBI against Trump’s scorched earth tweets attacking the institution’s corrupt leadership and refused to answer many key questions.
No, the Bourne character Alexander Conklin just looks a little like Peter Strzok. Character and professional traits are however, mirror images.
Rep. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) asked the FBI Director if the Hillary-funded garbage dossier was used to spy on Trump’s camp and Wray refused to answer.

All eyes are on Trump-hating and Hillary-loving FBI agent Peter Strzok. The disgraced agent was removed from Mueller’s witch hunt after it was discovered he was sending anti-Trump text messages to his mistress FBI lawyer Lisa Page. Mueller covered-up this scandal, which is a scandal in itself.

Ahrar al-Sham commander eliminated in Idlib
[ALMASDARNEWS] A assassination by unknown assailants has hit the Syrian rebel group Ahrar al-Sham
...a Syria jihadi group made up of Islamists and salafists, not that there's that much difference, formed into a brigade. They make up the main element of the Islamic Front but they don't profess adoration of al-Qaeda and they've been fighting (mainly for survival) against the Islamic State. Their leadership was wiped out at a single blow by a suicide kaboom at a crowded basement meeting in September, 2014...
in the Idlib province on Friday, marking the first time in months that this specific group was hit by such an liquidation.

Ahrar al-Sham commander Abu Abdo Dahriyah was shot and killed together with tho of his associates, when unidentified attacked gunned him down. The liquidation was very similar to a row of similar assassinations that has been rocking the al-Qaeda affiliated group Hayyat Tahrir al-Sham
(HTS), formerly known as the al-Nusra
...formally Jabhat an-Nusrah li-Ahli al-Sham (Support Front for the People of the Levant), also known as al-Qaeda in the Levant. They aim to establish a pan-Arab caliphate. Not the same one as the Islamic State, though .. ...
Front, for the past several months.

The resemblance in attacks, as well as the strategic situation in Idlib, may indicate involvement from terrorist organization ISIS, which has recently started making entry into the Idlib Governorate. ISIS forces have been trying to infiltrate Idlib from the small pocket of land it currently holds in the north of Hama province. Sleeper cells tied to the terrorist group are known for their assassinations, that mostly targeted rival HTS holy warriors until now.

No casualties have been reported thus far.

Israel claims these airstrikes are in retaliation for the previous rocket attack that was conducted by the Paleostinian paramilitary forces in Gazoo.

He also added "And the overall cost to the drug trafficking organizations approached $48 million. So these strikes were just the first step in attacking the Taliban’s financial engine, and they will continue."

Protests Sweep Muslim World against Trump's Jerusalem Move
[AnNahar] Tens of thousands of people erupted into the streets of Moslem and Arab countries across the world Friday to protest against U.S. President Donald Trump

's recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, in a show of solidarity with the Paleostinians.

Demonstrators at the protests which followed the weekly prayers in mosques vented their anger at the unilateral decision which has sparked widespread international criticism.

In the Paleostinian territories at least one Paleostinian was killed in festivities with Israeli troops.

Trump's announcement on Wednesday prompted an almost universal diplomatic backlash, including warnings from The Sick Man of Europe Turkey

"Jerusalem is the capital of Paleostine," chanted crowds in Jordan, one of only two Arab states to have made peace with Israel, where an estimated 20,000 people poured into the streets of Amman and other cities, AFP correspondents said.

They carried banners reading "Go to Hell!," directed at Israel and the United States, and set ablaze the two countries' flags.

Hundreds of demonstrators, circled by anti-riot police, also gathered outside al-Azhar mosque in the capital of Egypt, which in 1979 became the first Arab country to sign a peace treaty with the Jewish state.

"We will sacrifice our soul, our blood for you, al-Aqsa," they pledged, referring to the mosque compound in Israeli-annexed east Jerusalem that is the third holiest site in Islam after Mecca and Medina in Soddy Arabia

Thousands of Lebanese and Paleostinians demonstrated in Leb and its refugee camps, while similar joint protests were staged in Syria despite the country's brutal war.

In another war-torn country, thousands of Yemeni rebel supporters rallied in Sanaa under the banner "Jerusalem is the capital of Paleostine".

"This case belongs to all Moslems and no one has the right to sell it out," Mohammed Ali al-Huthi, a Huthi rebel leader, shouted to the crowd.

"Jerusalem is ours and Jerusalem belongs to the Arabs," hundreds of Iraqi demonstrators chanted in the Sadr City district of Baghdad, where Israeli and American flags were also torched.

"Death to America! Death to Israel!" was the rallying cry as thousands demonstrated in Tehran and other Iranian cities. Several banners read: "We will stand tall until the destruction of Israel."

Thousands of pro-Paleostinian supporters marched after prayers at the Ottoman Fatih mosque in the center of Istanbul.

"We consider Jerusalem as the bastion of the Moslem community ... We are here to show our unity and our strength," said protester Doguhan, 17.

- Protests in Asia -
In Asia, thousands of protesters demonstrated outside the U.S. embassy in Malaysia, condemning Trump's decision as a "slap in the face" for Moslems worldwide.

They carried banners that read: "Hands off Jerusalem" and "Down USA President Trump".

In neighboring Indonesia, the world's most populous Moslem-majority country, several hundred people demonstrated outside the U.S. embassy in Jakarta, unfurling a large Paleostinian flag.

In Afghanistan, more than 1,000 protesters hit the streets after Friday prayers in Kabul.

They burnt effigies of Trump as well as American and Israeli flags. A few dozen tried to reach the heavily-barricaded U.S. embassy, but were pushed back by local security forces.

Around 2,500 demonstrators also protested in the western city of Herat
...a venerable old Persian-speaking city in western Afghanistan, populated mostly by Tadjiks, which is why it's not as blood-soaked as areas controlled by Pashtuns...
, an AFP correspondent reported.

Hundreds erupted into the streets in Pakistain, including in the capital Islamabad. The protesters chanted "Death to Trump" and "Trump is mad."

Iraq
Clearing the western desert ‘twixt Ninevah and Anbar

Over thirty villages combed within operation to comb desert regions

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) Iraqi joint troops managed to comb over thirty villages within the second part of operations at Upper Euphrates and Jazirah region, the military media said.

In a statement on Friday, Lt. Gen. Abdul Amir Yarallah, commander of Upper Euphrates and Jazira Combing Operations, said the pro-government al-Hashd al-Shaabi (Popular Mobilization Forces) managed to purge 35 villages and an area of 4,300 square kilometers.

“The operation comes within the second part of the second phase of operations to comb Jazirah and Upper Euphrates regions,” he added.

Iraqi joint troops started on Friday the second phase of military operations to comb the western desert, ahead of declaring the full liberation of Iraqi territories.

The operation seeks that troops meet in the desert between northern Nineveh and western Anbar in a road that stretches for 200 square kilometers, adjacent to borders with Syria.

Iraqi Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi said in November that his country has defeated Islamic State over the military level, but will declare final victory after desert areas are purged of militants.

Brig. Gen. Yehia Rasool, spokesperson for the Joint Operations Command said in remarks last week that the second phase of operations to clear borders near Syria from Islamic State militants will launch soon. An area of 14,000 out of 29,000 square kilometers in the desert has been cleared by IS militants.

Islamic State members fled western desert toward Syrian borders: PMFs

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The pro-government paramilitary troops have said several Islamic State militants escaped the western desert toward Syrian borders.

“The intelligence of al-Hashd al-Shaabi (Popular Mobilization Forces) confirmed that several IS members fled the desert toward the Syrian borders,” the media service said in a statement on Friday.

Troops are advancing from seven directions in the depth of al-Badiya desert and started on Friday combing several villages from remnants of the war.

Security personnel wounded while repelling IS attack near Syrian borders

Anbar (IraqiNews.com) Iraqi border troops have thwarted an attack by Islamic State against border crossing with Syria, a security source from Anbar said on Friday.

“Border troops repulsed an IS attack against headquarters, north of al-Waleed crossing, coming from Syria,” the source told AlSumaria News.

“Two personnel were wounded while repelling the attack,” the source, who preferred anonymity, added. “Losses were inflicted on the militants, who retreated back to the Syrian lands.”

Security troops control the crossing as well as an area of 80 kilometers in the north of the crossing.

The Grand Turk
Erdogan’s landmark Greece visit gets off to rocky start
[DAWN] Greece and The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
on Thursday agreed to work on confidence-boosting measures after a rocky start to a landmark two-day state visit to Athens by Ottoman Turkish President Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First
... Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him. It's a sin, a shame, and a felony to insult the president of Turkey...
.Erdogan, making the first visit to Greece by a Ottoman Turkish head of state in 65 years, had earlier angered his hosts with talk of revising borders and complaints about Greece’s treatment of its Moslem minority.
Contrariwise, Turkey does not allow the remaining Greek Orthodox Christians within its borders to import priests and bishops from outside the country, nor to maintain a seminary for them within it, but that is as it should be.
"We agreed to resume talks on confidence-building and security measures," Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras said at a news conference after a long meeting with Erdogan.

The longtime Ottoman Turkish leader had said Athens was neglecting the minority with Ottoman Turkish origins living in northern Greece.

Erdogan also accused the European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
of ignoring promises of financial support given last year in return for Turkey’s help in stemming refugee flows to Europe.

Greek President Prokopis Pavlopoulos, one of the country’s foremost law experts, said Athens had no intention of revising the 1923 Treaty of Lausanne, a defining document in Greek-Ottoman Turkish relations, as Erdogan has repeatedly suggested. "This treaty is non-negotiable for us... it requires no revision nor update," he said.

Separately, Tsipras joked that another nine countries would have to be chased down to revise the treaty, including Japan.

But Erdogan insisted that agreements can be "updated" and claimed that Greece was failing to adhere to the treaty in respect to the Moslem minority.

Contrary to the treaty, Athens appoints religious jurists known as muftis instead of allowing the local community to do so, Erdogan said. "Protecting the rights of our fellow ethnic (Turks) is a top priority for us," he said.

#6  Said sheriff's office is the one for Bernalillo county, which includes the city of ABQ. From a 9 Aug 2017 KRQE article:
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — New Mexico commissioners have decided to keep a policy declaring Bernalillo County an immigrant-friendly community despite threats from U.S. Justice Department to defund so-called sanctuary cities.

Bernalillo is New Mexico's most populous county and includes the city of Albuquerque. The county's Board of Commissioners passed the immigrant-friendly resolution in March as a symbolic gesture, and to prevent county dollars and personnel from being used to investigate anyone's immigration status or arrest individuals based on their immigration status, unless required to do so by law.

Not only "immigrant friendly" but "federal immigration enforcement UNfriendly", seems like.
Poor New Mexico, so far from heaven and so close to Texas.

Defiant Haley chides fuming Security Council members: ’Change is hard’
[IsraelTimes] At session on Trump's recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital, US envoy says those who use violence show they don't want peace; Paleostinians demand move be rescinded

At an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council on Friday, the US Ambassador to the United Nations
...where theory meets practice and practice loses...
Nikki Haley
...Trump administration's ambassador to the UN. First woman to serve as Governor of South Carolina, and the second Indian-American governor in the country, after Bobby Jindal of Louisiana. At the age of 39, Haley was the youngest governor in the U.S., a distinction formerly held by Jindal. She is a Republican, which really grates on the Dems...
said President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
knew his decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital would raise "questions and concerns," but that he took it to advance peace between Israel and the Paleostinians.

"I understand the concerns that members have in calling this session," Haley said. "Change is hard."

Washington’s move left it isolated as one after another fellow UN Security Council members ‐ Russia, La Belle France, the UK, China, Egypt, Jordan and a host of others ‐ condemned the announcement.

The debate unfolded at a largely symbolic emergency meeting of the council ‐ no vote on a resolution was planned, as the US has veto power ‐ two days after Trump reversed two decades of US policy on the holy city.

Haley said anyone who used Washington’s actions as a pretext for violence was "only showing" they were not partners for peace.

At the meeting, UN coordinator for the Middle East grinding of the peace processor Nickolay Mladenov warned that if the Israeli-Paleostinian conflict isn’t resolved, "it risks being engulfed in the vortex of religious radicalism throughout the Middle East."

Mladenov also reiterated Secretary-General Antonio Guterres’s words that the Israeli-Paleostinian conflict must be resolved through direct negotiations and that "there is no Plan B to the two-state solution."
Given that President Trump talked to a great many parties about this ahead of time, and was not persuaded by their arguments then, all this seems very much to be posturing for the folks back home.

UN Chief Condemns Attack That Leaves At Least 14 Peacekeepers Dead in Volatile Eastern DR Congo
[All Africa] At least 14 United Nations
...an organization originally established to war on dictatorships which was promptly infiltrated by dictatorships and is now held in thrall to dictatorships...
'blue helmets' in the Democratic Republic of the Congo
...formerly the Congo Free State, Belgian Congo, Zaire, and who knows what else, not to be confused with the Brazzaville Congo aka Republic of Congo, which is much smaller and much more (for Africa) stable. DRC gave the world Patrice Lumumba and Joseph Mobutu, followed by years of tedious civil war. Its principle industry seems to be the production of corpses. With a population of about 74 million it has lots of raw material...
(DRC) have been killed and many more injured, in what the Secretary-General António Guterres described as the "worst attack" on UN peacekeepers in recent history.

Late Thursday, a MONUSCO (the UN Stabilization Mission in the DRC) Company Operating Base at Semuliki in Beni territory, North Kivu, was attacked by suspected Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) elements, resulting in a protracted fighting between the suspected gang elements and MONUSCO and Armed Forces of the DRC, known by the French acronym, FARDC.

"These deliberate attacks against UN peacekeepers are unacceptable and constitute a war crime" said Secretary-General António Guterres, adding: "I condemn this attack unequivocally."

Further, calling on the DRC authorities to investigate the incident and swiftly bring the perpetrators to justice, the UN chief stressed: "There must be no impunity for such assaults, here or anywhere else."

In his remarks, he also said that the attack is another indication of the challenges faced by UN peacekeepers around the world and acknowledged the sacrifices made by troop contributing countries in the service of global peace.

"These brave women and men are putting their lives on the line every day across the world to serve peace and to protect civilians," he noted, offering condolences to the families and loved ones of those killed and a speedy recovery to those injured.

He also informed that military reinforcements, including the Force Commander from MONUSCO, have arrived on the scene and medical evacuation of casualties is ongoing.

The volatile North Kivu region, located in eastern DRC, has witnessed a number of attacks on UN peacekeeping forces. In October, two UN 'blue helmets' were killed and another 18 were maimed their base was attacked by the ADF gang.

India-Pakistan
Safdar can’t chair meeting hearing allegation against himself: MNA
[DAWN] The Pakistain Peoples Party has asked National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq to restrict retired Capt Muhammad Safdar from adjudicating an allegation against him (Capt Safdar) that he gave Tehrik-e-Labaik Ya Rasool Allah Rs50 million over the Faizabad sit-in.

In a letter to the speaker, MNA Shazia Marri has asked how an MNA could convene the meeting when the agenda item was clearly related to an allegation against him and it was a blatant example of conflict of interest.

The letter is available with Dawn.

It is worth noting here that the meeting of the NA Standing Committee on Information Technology and Telecommunication has been scheduled for Dec 11 at Parliament House.

The notice of the meeting, which has five agenda points shows that one of the points includes a briefing/discussion on alleged videotape which shows the supply of Rs50m to the Faizabad sit-in leaders by Mr Safdar. It is also mentioned that the meeting of the standing committee will be chaired by Mr Safdar.

In the letter MNA Marri, who is also a member of the committee, has said that she wants to lodge her protest against conflict of interest as the person who has been facing the allegation will chair the meeting in which the matter against him will be discussed.

"I fail to understand how an MNA can convene the meeting when the agenda item is clearly related to an allegation against him? This is a blatant example of conflict of interest, which sadly is not being realised. For more information, the notice for this meeting is a revised one that was issued on the 6th of December, 2017, while the earlier notice was issued on the 30th of November, 2017, where the agenda did not bear the item mentioned above," she has stated in the letter.

"Therefore, I request you to kindly intervene in order to ensure that the person being alleged of an offence is not allowed to act as judge in his own case. Your cooperation would be highly appreciated," she said.

Supporters of a religious group in November reached Islamabad and held a sit-in at Faizabad interchange. They announ-ced that they will not disperse unless then law minister Zahid Hamid resigned. On Nov 25 the district administration tried to remove them by using force but the operation badly failed as a large number of officials of law enforcement agencies were maimed. After that the law minister had to resign and protesters were dispersed.

Four accused in Karachi's Do Darya murder case sent to jail on judicial remand
[DAWN] A judicial magistrate in Bloody Karachi
...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It is among the largest cities in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous...
on Friday sent four suspects involved in the Do Darya murder case to jail on judicial remand.

Zafir, an 18-year-old student at DHA college, was killed and another youth was injured in a gun attack on December 4.

The two youths travelling in a Mercedes were on their way to have breakfast at the beach when they had a minor accident. After the accident, suspects travelling in a double-cabin vehicle had opened indiscriminate fire on the car at around 9am.

As a result, the two passengers had sustained bullet wounds and were transported to a private hospital where doctors pronounced Zafir dead.

During Friday's hearing, the police presented the four suspects ─ Haider Hussain Burney, Hassan Hussain Burney, Raza Hussain Burney and Abdul Rehman ─ before the court.

As they were sent to jail on judicial remand, the court also ordered the police to arrest the suspect who had fled from the site of the incident after the shooting and present him before the court.

A day earlier, the police had told the court that raids are ongoing to round up the last suspect. The court had granted the police two-day physical remand of Khawar Hussain Burney, the prime suspect.

#1  Grom Jr. started studying French in school. I think it's a terrible waste - by the time he's grown up there won't be France. The country called France today will be known as West Morocco.

#2  In my opinion the media gives these people too much attention. In my opinion it is a small minority of crazies causing all the trouble. Look how ISIS has folded. Now and then new blood enlivens them but is spent quickly. The majority plods along just doing the everyday business of life. ISIS leaders are merely a pin prick on the butt of humanity.

Translators will be needed for the emigrés when the time comes, g(r)omgoru — and not just the Jewish ones. Francophone Canada has had an influx from France in recent years, as have London and New York City.

It began with those fleeing Holland’s confiscatory taxes, but that will not be how it ends.

Southeast Asia
Military: Maute militants remain a menace
[PhilStar] Despite the liberation of Marawi City from the Maute group, the ISIS-affiliated group remains a threat to the region.

On October 17, Philippine president Duterte declared the liberation of Marawi following the deaths of Abu Sayyaf leader Isnilon Hapilon and one of the Maute brothers, Omar Maute. The remaining members of the Maute group are attempting to recover by recruiting new members, however.

Military spokesman Restituto Padilla said,"They still remain to be a threat. Although they have been significantly degraded in terms of capability and manpower, those who survived that siege still remain at large."

According to the military, remaining militants are recruiting children, women and the relatives of those who were killed in battle through the enticement of cash rewards.

Aside from the Maute group, there are also threats of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters in Maguindanao, Lanao del Sur and Cotabato while the Abu Sayyaf still exists in Basilan, Sulu and Tawi-Tawi.

According to DILG officer-in-charge Catalino Cuy, continuing threats from terrorist groups prompted the Philippine National Police to recommend an extension of martial law in Mindanao for another year. The military has expressed its support for the proposed extension.

Abu Sayyaf rebels trying to sneak from Sulu to Sabah
[PhilStar] Abu Sayyaf militants have been trying to escape from Sulu to go to Sabah, Malaysia amid intensified military operations, Philippine military officials said yesterday.

Military spokesperson Jo-Ann Petinglay said they have tightened security in Sulu Sea in addition to conducting joint naval patrols with Malaysia and Indonesia under the Trilateral Maritime Patrol Agreement. She said, "Some of these terrorists will try to…sneak into nearby Sabah by pretending to be ordinary fishermen or travelers."

On Monday, Abu Paliyak, alias Paliyak Yusof, suspected in recent kidnappings in Sulu, was killed by Sabah security forces in the waters off Lahad Datu.

Petinglay said the Eastern Security Command of Sabah is also monitoring a group of kidnappers based in Sitangkai, Tawi-Tawi.

Britain
British Jihadist who Fought in Syria Gets 10 Years
[AnNahar] A British jihadist who fought to overturn Libyan strongman Muammar Qadaffy
...who single-handedly turned a moderately prosperous kingdom into a dictator's fantasyland and was then murdered by his indignant subjects 42 years later...
and joined the ranks of the Islamic State

They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
group in Syria was sentenced to 10 years in prison Friday.

Brigade" in 2011 along with his brother, Abdalraouf.

Abdallah's brother was shot and paralyzed from the waist down in battle, the trial in London heard.

In 2014, Abdallah headed to Syria with help from his wheelchair-bound brother, who set up a "hub" for would be IS fighters from his home in Manchester, northern England.

He was enjugged
Don't shoot, coppers! I'm comin' out!
when he returned to London's Heathrow airport in September 2014.

In 2016, Sky News published files from an IS defector which listed Abdallah as a specialist sniper with expertise in using the "Dushka" -- a Russian-made heavy machine gun.

Abdallah was found guilty on Thursday of possessing a Kalashnikov assault rifle, receiving £2,000 (2,300 euros, $2,700) for terrorism and membership of IS.

Abdallah in court denied pledging allegiance to IS and said he was instead imprisoned by jihadists. He claimed he had only traveled to Syria to donate money to poor people.

But judge Maura McGowan said Abdallah had "bragged" about acquiring weapons and was "totally committed" to signing up to the IS group.

"Your commitment to violence abroad is clear and you have not shown any sign of changing your views or attitudes," she said.

Abdallah's trial was delayed after a terror attack at Manchester Arena in May this year by bomber Salman Abedi, in which 22 people were killed.

Abedi attended the same mosque as the Abdallah brothers and reportedly visited Abdalraouf in prison in the months leading up to the attack.
The Daily Mail adds their customary collection of photos, and lays out in great detail how the Abdallah brothers are connected to the rest of the Manchester Libyan jihadi crowd, including Manchester Arena jacket wallah Salman Abedi.

5,000 Palestinians hold violent protests across West Bank, Gaza over Jerusalem
[IsraelTimes] IDF braces for further festivities on Saturday, after 200 injured, most of them lightly, in riots against Trump's recognition of Israel's capital; two killed at Gazoo fence

Security assessments had expected tens of thousands to take part in the Friday protests and the IDF had been particularly concerned that "lone wolf" attackers could try to carry out terror attacks.
An estimated 5,000 Paleostinian protesters held demonstrations and clashed with Israeli security forces at some 30 locations across the West Bank and Gazoo Strip on Friday after midday prayers, in a show of anger over US President Donald Trump

That the protests were thus far so much smaller and less violent than expected is very interesting. One wonders if the arrests of the past year have influenced current behaviour...

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
‘Packs’ of ISIS car bombs shatter Syrian Army ranks during final stage of Deir Ezzor offensive
[ALMASDARNEWS] It has become apparent that the final phase of the Syrian Arab Army’s offensive to clear the western shore of the Euphrates River between the cities of Deir Ezzor and Abu Kamal has witnessed one of the highest usages of boom-mobiles by ISIS per area of operations and time period.

In the words of a Syrian Army Tiger Forces soldier, recently quoted over pro-government social media, "ISIS’s SVBIEDs [boom-mobiles] came to us in packs to hinder our advance."

The Syrian Army source also added that "the hardest moments of life is to see one of the vehicles of death coming towards you to splatter your guts everywhere," insisting nonetheless that "their [ISIS’s] SVBIEDs still couldn’t save them [from ultimate defeat]."

Syrian pro-government forces, led by the army’s elite Tiger Forces Division, commenced the final stage of their offensive to clear ISIS elements from the western shore of the Euphrates River just over two weeks ago.

Considering that cities like Deir Ezzor, al-Mayadeen and Abu Kamal had already been liberated, it was assumed that the last string of towns and villages dotting the western Euphrates shore were going to be easy work.

In the event, ISIS offered a then hitherto unseen degree of resistance at towns like al-Qurayya and al-Asharah, as well as at Salhiyah where boom-mobiles and small counterattacks delivered a significant amount of damage on Syrian Army ranks.

Several days ago, Syrian pro-government forces officially completed their clearance of the western Euphrates shore, declaring it to be free of ISIS.

Africa Subsaharan
Liberia: Man Found Guilty of 'War Crimes' Was Granted SA Visa, Court Hears
[All Africa] A man, convicted of being an accessory to war crimes for selling weapons to former Liberian president Charles Chuck Taylor
The former President-for-Life of Liberia, of whom the best that could be said was that he wasn't quite as horrible as Prince Johnson, at least not usually.
, was issued with a temporary visa to stay in South Africa until 2020.

This emerged in the Cape Town Magistrate's Court on Friday during the appearance of 75-year-old Augustinus Petrus Kouwenhoven.

Kouwenhoven was jugged
Don't shoot, coppers! I'm comin' out!
in Fresnaye at 08:00, ahead of his possible extradition and handover to Dutch authorities.

He was surrounded by coppers as he walked to the courtroom and waited for his appearance.

Prosecutor Christopher Burke told Magistrate Phakama Madinda that a Dutch court had found Kouwenhoven guilty of war crimes, arms trading and crimes against humanity.

The Dutch government made a request for his provisional arrest, and warrants were obtained and executed in Cape Town on Friday morning.

The prosecution indicated that it would oppose bail and said it needed time to prepare for a bail hearing.

A runaway from justice

"The State has reason to believe that Mr Kouwenhoven is a runaway from justice which makes him a flight risk," Burke said.

The law usually allows a seven-day remand for bail to be obtained.

Burke proposed a compromise that involved keeping the accused in the Sea Point police cells until Tuesday so that the State could gather the information they needed.
