VDH: One Mueller-Investigation Coincidence Too Many
h/t Instapundit
Special prosecutors, investigators, and counsels are usually a bad idea. They are admissions that constitutionally mandated institutions don’t work ‐ and can be rescued only by supposed superhuman moralists, who are without the innate biases inherent in human nature.

The record from Lawrence Walsh to Ken Starr to Patrick Fitzgerald suggests otherwise. Originally narrow mandates inevitably expand ‐ on the cynical theory that everyone has something embarrassing to hide. Promised "short" timelines and limited budgets are quickly forgotten. Prosecutors search for ever new crimes to justify the expense and public expectations of the special-counsel appointment.

Soon the investigators need to be investigated for their own conflicts of interest, as if we need special-special or really, really special prosecutors. Special investigations often quickly turn Soviet, in the sense of "Show me the man and I’ll find you the crime."

Special Counsel Robert Mueller has led what seems to be an exemplary life of public service. No doubt he believes that as a disinterested investigator he can get to the bottom of the once contentious charge of "Russian collusion" in the 2016 election. But can he?

A Mandate Gone Wild
Something has gone terribly wrong with the Mueller investigation.

The investigation is venturing well beyond the original mandate of rooting out evidence of Russian collusion. Indeed, the word "collusion" is now rarely invoked at all. It has given way to its successor, "obstruction." The latter likely will soon beget yet another catchphrase to justify the next iteration of the investigations.

There seems far less special investigatory concern with the far more likely Russian collusion in the matters of the origins and dissemination of the Fusion GPS/Steele dossier, and its possible role in the Obama-administration gambit of improper or illegal surveilling, unmasking, and leaking of the names of American citizens.

Leaks from the Mueller investigation so far abound. They have seemed calibrated to create a public consensus that particular individuals are currently under investigation, likely to be indicted ‐ or indeed likely guilty.

These public worries are not groundless. They are deeply rooted in the nature and liberal composition of the Mueller investigative team ‐ whose left-leaning appointments just months ago had understandably made the liberal media giddy with anticipation from the outset. Wired, for instance, published this headline on June 14: "Robert Mueller Chooses His Investigatory Dream Team." Vox, on August 22, wrote: "Meet the all-star legal team who may take down Trump." The Daily Beast, two day later, chimed in: "Inside Robert Mueller’s Army."

...By now there are simply too many coincidental conflicts of interest and too much improper investigatory behavior to continue to give the Mueller investigation the benefit of doubt. Each is a light straw; together, they now have broken the back of the probe’s reputation.

In inexplicable fashion, Mueller seems to have made almost no effort to select attorneys from outside Washington, from diverse private law firms across the country, who were without personal involvement with the Clinton machine, and who were politically astute or disinterested enough to keep their politics to themselves.

...Yet Donald Trump at this point would be unhinged if he were to fire Special Counsel Mueller ‐ given that the investigators seem intent on digging their own graves through conflicts of interest, partisan politicking, leaking, improper amorous liaisons, indiscreet communications, and stonewalling the release of congressionally requested information.

Indeed, the only remaining trajectory by which Mueller and his investigators can escape with their reputations intact is to dismiss those staff attorneys who have exhibited clear anti-Trump political sympathies, reboot the investigation, and then focus on what now seems the most likely criminal conduct: Russian and Clinton-campaign collusion in the creation of the anti-Trump Fusion GPS dossier and later possible U.S. government participation in the dissemination of it. If such a fraudulent document was used to gain court approval to surveil Trump associates, and under such cover to unmask and leak names of private U.S. citizens ‐ at first to warp a U.S. election, and then later to thwart the work of an incoming elected administration ‐ then Mueller will be tasked with getting to the bottom of one of the greatest political scandals in recent U.S. history. Indeed, his legacy may not be that he welcomed in known pro-Clinton, anti-Trump attorneys to investigate the Trump 2016 campaign where there was little likelihood of criminality, but that he ignored the most egregious case of government wrongdoing in the last half-century.

Roy Moore and the politics of winning

Port Authority Bombing Suspect Targeted Hallway Because Of Christmas Posters
The alleged Port Authority bomber spent an hour spilling his guts to investigators at Bellevue Hospital on Monday ‐ saying he picked the specific hallway because of Christmas posters and that he was avenging violence against Muslims around the world, law enforcement sources said.
Sounds like someone misses home.
Akayed Ullah mentioned President Trump and past administrations during the grilling, and said his anger was fueled by decades of anti-Muslim bloodshed in Gaza, Syria and Iraq.

Ullah, a Bangladeshi immigrant, said the attack was specifically inspired by ISIS ‐ "not al Qaeda" ‐ and also mentioned seeing Christmas posters before detonating the device in the underground tunnel between the bustling bus depot and the Times Square subway.

The seasonal imagery set him off ‐ inspiring him to follow ISIS Christmas threats, NBC reports.

ISIS propaganda released just weeks ago features a picture of Santa Claus in Times Square next to explosives and the phrase "We meet at Christmas in New York . . . soon," according to terror watchdog group Site Intel.

An Islamic State militant also drove a truck into a Berlin Christmas market last year, killing 12 and injuring 56.

"He acknowledges he purposely set it off then and there," a senior law enforcement official said.

He says he acted alone, building his crudely constructed bomb from commercially available parts based on instructions he found online, sources said.

Fortunately, the homemade pipe bomb didn’t detonate properly ‐ and only wounded the wannabe suicide bomber and those around him.

Ullah was allowed to stop several times to pray during the interview, and was later taken to the intensive care unit for treatment of internal injuries suffered in the blast, sources said.

Wyoming GOP Sen. John Barrasso wants to know whether or not former President Barack Obama’s administration intentionally misled him about Uranium One being able to export its product out of the U.S. after it was acquired by Russia.

-Short Attention Span Theater-
Megyn Kelly's Trump sex harassment claims helps rally ratings for her NBC morning show
[USA Today] Megyn Kelly may be finding her voice ‐ and more viewers ‐ by tackling the issue of sexual harassment on her NBC morning show.

The former Fox News anchor got off to a rough start with Megyn Kelly Today, but her 9 a.m. ET/PT hour of NBC's Today show has begun to see some ratings success as she has regularly devoted time to the issue.

And her show Monday likely captured plenty of eyeballs, being that her guests were three women who have accused President Trump of sexual misconduct.

By mid-October and into November, Kelly's audience began growing, including among the important core news viewing group of those aged 25 to 54, according to Nielsen.

Viewership has increased monthly, and the show is currently averaging 2.7 million viewers in December, Nielsen says. Today still trails ABC's Good Morning America in total viewers.

The more recent trends are improvement from where Kelly began. In September, during the first full week for Megyn Kelly Today, the show drew an average of 2.5 million viewers, according to Nielsen, which was down 12% from that same hour a year before when Today's Take co-hosted by Al Roker along with others including Tamron Hall aired in the timeslot. Since its Sept. 25 launch through Dec. 3, Megyn Kelly Today viewership is down 20% compared to the same hour last year, averaging 2.4 million viewers, Nielsen says.

Kelly had hoped to steer clear of politics on Today. Instead, she said at the time, the show was meant to provide "maybe a little hope to start your day."

Tax-cut plan will more than pay for itself, add $300 billion in revenue: Treasury report
[Wash Times] The Treasury Department said Monday that the Senate-approved tax reform plan would pay for itself and more, actually boosting revenue by $300 billion over 10 years.

The one-page analysis by Treasury counters a congressional forecast that the tax cuts would add about $1 trillion in deficits over the next decade.

Treasury said the legislation, which cuts corporate and individual taxes, would result in $1.8 trillion in additional tax revenue over a decade by spurring stronger economic growth. Subtracting tax cuts of $1.5 trillion from the measure under current law, the administration said, adds up to a gain.

"The administration has been focused on tax reform and broader economic policies to stimulate growth, which will generate significant long-term revenue for the government," said Treasury Secretary Steven T. Mnuchin.

Treasury’s analysis forecasts annual economic growth of at least 2.9 percent, higher than the 2.2 percent estimates used by the congressional Joint Committee on Taxation.

"Treasury expects approximately half of this 0.7 percent increase in growth to come from changes to corporate taxation," the report said. "We expect the other half to come from changes to pass-through taxation and individual tax reform, as well as from a combination of regulatory reform, infrastructure development, and welfare reform as proposed in the administration’s fiscal year 2018 budget."

The Grand Turk
Erdogan is making 'ominous threats' to the US and Israel over Jerusalem
[Right Scoop] The Middle East has been blowing up since President Trump last week changed US policy to recognize Jerusalem as the official capital of Israel.

There has been much strife in Jerusalem and the West Bank with Palestinians violently protesting against the move. And, of course, Israel has had to use violence at times to keep order.

Erdogan himself has been using dangerous rhetoric to keep the situation as hot as possible, calling Israel a terrorist state that kills Palestinian children:
"Israel is a perfect invader state," Erdogan said. He also called Israel "a terrorist state." "We won’t leave Jerusalem to the mercy of a child-murdering country."

Netanyahu hit right back, saying:
"I’m not used to receiving lectures about morality from a leader who bombs Kurdish villages in his native Turkey, who jails journalists, helps Iran go around international sanctions and who helps terrorists, including in Gaza, kill innocent people..."

As usual, Netanyahu nailed it.

This morning Erdogan was at it again, this time attacking the US and making ominous threats against the ’owners of Jerusalem’:

DAILY SABAH ‐ President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Monday that the U.S. is responsible for the bloodshed in Jerusalem after clashes erupted in the city following U.S. President Donald Trump’s decision to recognize it as the capital of Israel.
"Those who turn Jerusalem into a prison for Muslims and members of other religions will never be able to clear the blood off their hands," Erdogan said at an event held in the capital Ankara.

Stressing that Washington is also responsible for the bloodshed in the area, the president said of Trump’s decision to move the U.S. Embassy in Tel Aviv to Jerusalem: "The U.S. has become a partner in bloodshed by recognizing Jerusalem as Israel’s capital. We definitely do not recognize this decision, we will not recognize it. President Trump’s statement does not bind us, nor the world of Islam."

Clashes break out between Iraqi, Kurdish troops in disputed region
Erbil (IraqiNews.com) Clashes broke out between Iraqi and Kurdish troops in the disputed region between Erbil and Baghdad, Kurdish media reported on Monday.

Iraqi army and al-Hashd al-Shaabi (Popular Mobilization Forces) accessed Fekaka village, in Qurret Tabah region, for the first time since 2014, the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan media channels said.

The Kurdish troops deployed in the village, according to the reports, were engaged in festivities with Iraqi troops, however, the tensions eased later. It was revealed later that Iraqi troops arrived to arrest two suspects.

The suspects were then incarcerated
Maw! They're comin' to get me, Maw!
and taken out of the village, the reports added.

Baghdad had declared intentions to retake areas disputed on with Erbil following the Kurdistan Region’s vote for independence from Iraq in September, urging Peshmerga to cooperate with federal troops.

Iraqi government forces approached the southern borders of Erbil, capital of semi-autonomous Kurdistan Region, shortly after engaging in festivities with the region’s forces in northern Kirkuk in October.

Baghdad bomb and bullet bulletin

Two people injured in bomb attack on Baghdad house

Baghdad (Iraqinews.com) Two people were injured in a bomb attack in Baghdad on Monday, a security source told Alghad Press.

“Unidentified gunmen hurled a bomb at a house in al-Shu’ala neighborhood in Baghdad, injuring two people,” the source said.

The injured were taken to a nearby hospital and a probe was launched into the attack, the source added.

Iraqi forces seize 18 mortar shells, defuse seven bombs in Baghdad

Baghdad (Iraqinews.com) Iraqi security forces have seized 18 mortar shells and defused seven bombs in Baghdad on Monday, a military command said.

“The troops found 18 mortar shells and nabbed a number of outlaws who are wanted on different charges south of the Iraqi capital,” the Baghdad Operations Command said in a statement, a copy of which was obtained by Alghad Press on Monday.

Also, the forces seized one kilogram of the highly explosive TNT material and a detonator north of Baghdad, the statement read, adding that seven bombs were defused at al-Halabsa area west of the capital city.

Residents of Baghdad area say stringent security turns it into a big prison

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) Residents of an area in northern Baghdad are decrying what they describe as unbearable security restrictions and sectarian discrimination that turn the area into an actual prison.

London-based al-Quds Alarabi quoted residents of Mashahda, Tarimiya, saying they are always undergoing stringent vetting and ID checks at checkpoints in the neighborhood. The army “maintains the closure of vital pathways, and has imposed “weeks-long curfews, trapped citizens inside and outside, and carried out random arrests”.

“The area has turned into both a big prison and a military barrack that is difficult to live in,” Omar Abu Kamel, a resident of the area, told the paper. “Many people are feeling rage, injustice and sectarian discrimination due to provocative practices by the Iraqi army and humiliating measures”.

Even residents with documents proving they belong to the area cannot escape the lockup, according Abu Kamel. “Many people have now no other choice but to relocate”, he said. “The security policy in Mashahda has emptied the area of men who had to migrate for fear of kidnapping or detention”.

Abu Kamel accused army troops of carrying out home raids, assaulting dwellers and getting ransoms in return for the release of arrested family members. He said unknown, masked gunmen also usually pass through the army checkpoints unquestioned before making detentions.

Baraa al-Mashadani, a blacksmith, recalls how soldiers blocked his way to home in central Tarimiya and ordered him to turn back or, otherwise, get arrested for “collaborating with terrorists”. He said he, however, holds an ID that verifies he is a local of the area.

In June, in response to wide complaints of mass detentions in Tarimiya, Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi said the campaigns were targeting Islamic State hideouts.

Throughout Iraq’s three-year campaign to eliminate Islamic State militancy, local and international human rights groups, and international agencies, have occasionally warned against vengeful violations by government and paramilitary troops against civilians from opposite sects. They urged the government to ensure civilians are not abused for unbased accusations of affiliation with the militant group.

The Swamp against the People
[American Thinker] Anybody who still believes that there is no Deep State in America might recall three major Deep State rebellions against constitutionally elected administrations in recent history.

1. The Stalin period, when communists, both overt and covert, had deeply infiltrated the State Department; the White House; and, most dangerously, the Manhattan Project of DOD, which built the first two nuclear bombs. At that time, the Communist Party of the USA was directly controlled by Stalin's Comintern in Moscow, the international center for worldwide infiltration, sabotage, espionage, and agitation-propaganda aiming to destroy the United States and its allies. Stalin's Comintern was especially powerful in Hollywood, in universities and the media.

2. The Watergate period, when historically anti-communist President Richard Nixon was destroyed by a revenge campaign, combining the NYT-WaPo media axis with the FBI's Mark Felt and the Democrats (among them Hillary Clinton) to bring down the duly elected president of the U.S. by unconstitutional means.

The extra-constitutional office of the special prosecutor was made up at that time, with no constitutional warrant or standing, and indeed in direct violation of the U.S. Constitution (USC Amendments I-IV).

3. Today, we are seeing a third example of an attempted coup d'état by the Deep State and the left-controlled media, both monsters that were never imagined by the Founders. In 2016, Hillary Clinton was openly endorsed by the Communist Party USA, and Hillary never rejected that endorsement. That fact speaks for itself.

In the meantime, the corrupt media keep aiming for conservative scalps. If Roy Moore is elected to the Senate, he will be harassed and scapegoated next. That is 100 percent predictable, because for the left, the swamp, and the corrupt media, there are no credible punishments.

Today, we see another politically motivated special counsel in close cahoots with the Democratic Party and three Deep State chiefs who were recently fired by Donald J. Trump: James Comey, George Brennan, and Jim Clapper. These individuals, as well as Mr. Mueller, were appointed by Barack H. Obama, who has repeatedly expressed his open contempt for the clearly delimited powers of the U.S. Constitution.

During their years as high officials of U.S. national security and justice administration, reliable military sources reported deep infiltration of the U.S. government by Jihad War powers.

In the months after the 9/11/01 surprise terror attack by Wahhabi jihadis, which murdered more than 3,000 people in Manhattan, Pennsylvania, and the Pentagon, a CIA official expressed open support for Osama bin Laden in published books. See Michael Scheuer.

During the run-up to 9/11/01, Mr. Scheuer served as the official chief of the bin Laden desk of the CIA ‐ throughout the Bill Clinton years and into the early months of the George W. Bush administration. To public knowledge, no one has ever been fired or even punished for blatant failures to "defend and protect the Constitution of the United States" during the Jihad War.

The idea of an unaccountable Deep State in open rebellion against the Constitution of the United States and its officers and elected officials is therefore beyond any reasonable doubt.

Sisi and Putin attend ceremony of inking agreement to officially launch Egypt's first-ever nuclear power plant
[AlAhram] Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin
...Second and fourth President and sixth of the Russian Federation and the first to remain sober. Putin is credited with bringing political stability and re-establishing something like the rule of law, which occasionally results in somebody dropping dead from polonium poisoning. Under Putin, a new group of business magnates controlling significant swathes of Russia's economy has emerged, all of whom have close personal ties to Putin. The old bunch, without close personal ties to Putin, are in jail or in exile or dead...
met in Cairo on Monday to attend the signing of an agreement officially launching work on Egypt's first-ever nuclear power plant at Dabaa on the north coast.

The Egyptian president said that both leaders further discussed ways to boost economic ties, including efforts to attract Russian investments to the Egyptian Suez Canal Economic Zone and to establish a Russian free-trade zone.

Putin said that "upon the completion of the Dabaa project, Egypt will not only benefit from having a nuclear plant but also from gaining the latest and safest technology of nuclear energy."

The nuclear plant, which will cost up to $21 billion, is expected to be completed by 2028-2029, Rosatom announced on Monday, according to Rooters.

Russia will provide a loan that will cover 85 percent of the construction costs, Likhachyov said.

According to the initial agreement signed by the two countries in 2015, Russia will build four reactors, each producing 1,200 megawatts of electricity, generating a total output of 4,800 megawatts.

The company will service the plant’s four reactors for 60 years, Likhachyov added.

Putin said that economic cooperation with Egypt "is taking on new dynamics in trade and economic exchange."

"During the past nine months, economic exchange between both countries have reached more than $4 billion," the Russian president stated.

Putin also said he agreed with the Egyptian president on the necessity of continuing negotiations on the establishing of the free-trade zone between Egypt and the Russia-led Eurasian Economic Union.

Egypt has been implementing tighter security measures in its airports to meet Russian demands on security, with the aim of restoring Russian visitors to boost its tourism industry.

Russians make up the largest single tourist group in Egypt, contributing to about a fifth of foreign vacationers in the country as of 2015, according to official data.

Cooperation on regional matters
President Putin said he agreed with El-Sisi on the framework of cooperation between both countries in the near future, describing Egypt as the old and trustful partner of Russia in the Middle East and North Africa.

The Paleostinian Commission of Detainees and Ex-detainees Affairs confirmed the arrests, saying that many arrests took place in Jerusalem during the protests, with Paletinian activists being targetted.

Europe
Europe's war against the Jewish state
[Jpost] Europe is the epicenter of the political war against Israel. Europe fights Israel on the streets of Europe. Europe fights Israel in the corridors of power in Brussels, other Western European capitals and the UN. Europe fights Israel in Israel itself.

Europe’s war against Israel is a passive-aggressive campaign fought and denied simultaneously. But in recent years, the mask has fallen over and over again.

In the days that have passed since US President Donald Trump’s dramatic announcement that the US recognizes that Jerusalem is Israel’s capital and is beginning to take concrete steps to move its embassy to the city, Europe’s war against Israel has again become impossible to deny or ignore. Europe’s response to Trump’s announcement has been extreme, violent and more outspoken than the response of the Arab world.

...But while the Arab street was indifferent to Trump’s declaration, the European street went berserk. Thousands of protesters assembled in London and Paris, in Berlin and Stockholm. They burned Israeli flags and called for the annihilation of Israel and the murder of Jews.

Physical attacks on Jews have been an integral component of the anti-Trump riots in Europe. Saturday night a group of 20 rioters firebombed a synagogue in Gothenburg, Sweden where Jewish children were holding a party. Friday a man clad in a keffiyeh attacked a Jewish restaurant in Amsterdam with a club while screaming Allahu Akbar.

European officials have refused to call these attacks hate crimes. As they see it, attacks against Jews in the name of hatred for Israel are totally justified.

For instance, as The Jerusalem Post’s Benjamin Weinthal reported in January, a German regional court found that perpetrators of a 2014 firebombing of a synagogue in Wuppertal had not committed a hate crime. Instead, the court ruled the Arab German perpetrators firebombed the synagogue as a result of their legitimate concern over Israel’s military operations against Hamas terrorists in Operation Protective Edge.
And most of the slogans Muslims chant when marching against Israel originated in Europe.
...The EU has invested tens of millions of dollars radicalizing the Israeli Arab community in recent years. Organizations including Adalah, Baldana, Massowa, Zohrot and the Negev Coexistence Forum have indoctrinated, urged and paid Israeli Arabs to abandon their Israeli identity, view themselves as Palestinians and reject Israel’s right to exist.
And one day you Americans will discover just who funded Obama's election.

China-Japan-Koreas
North Korean Special Forces Raid Local Farms
[DailyCaller] Starving North Korean Special Forces Launch Surprise Attacks ... On Local Farms.

Malnourished North Korean soldiers are reportedly increasingly raiding farms and fields of North Korean citizens, sources inside the reclusive country revealed to South Korean media.

"Soldiers from the 43rd Brigade raided the fields one night. They all gathered for the surprise attack, fanned out across the farms and swept up all the corn," a source in Ryanggang Province revealed to Daily NK. "It’s not an everyday occurrence for the 43rd Brigade to go around plundering the farms, but they have become much more brazen," the source added.

The 43rd Brigade was established as a special forces unit trained to engage in mountain warfare and night combat, as well as protect important North Korean sites from stealth attacks. Now, the unit former North Korean dictator Kim Jong Il once commended is conducting night raids on local farms.

"It’s a disgrace that soldiers are stealing food because they are hungry, but we should not blame the soldiers entirely. The problem is that the regime does not feed its own military, which means that pillaging will only continue," Daily NK’s source introduced.

North Korea struggles to feed its population, the vast majority of which is malnourished.

"The regime has not been providing enough food for its army," a source inside North Korea revealed in August. Officers have reportedly instructed their soldiers to steal food to increase readiness. "The military officers are instructing their soldiers, exhausted after training, to eat corn in the fields because war is imminent," North Korean insiders told Daily NK this past summer. "They are even threatening their soldiers, saying, ’If you become malnourished despite permission to eat the corn, you will face difficulties," the source in North Hamgyong Province explained.

Furthermore, an order was reportedly issued last month stating that military personnel have to collect provisions themselves. The order is believed to be a response to the country’s inability to provide for is forces. It is unclear how prolific the raids on local farms are at this time.

North Korea is under tough sanctions that are crippling both exports and imports and hindering economic growth. Food shortages have been reported, and the prices of certain goods appear to be on the rise, which suggests that ongoing domestic trends may continue.

*Supposedly the best trained troops there, but their response to one of their own making a run for it was apparent panic followed by 'spray and pray'.

I'm not saying they will be pushovers - if they're turned loose with enforcer units behind them they will do awful damage coming south.

Government
Governmental accountability board? More like Wisconsin's Secret Police
h/t Instapundit
[USAToday] The "Cheesehead Stasi." That’s what Twitter humorist IowaHawk called a long-running and politicized investigation organized by Democratic politicians in Wisconsin, targeting supporters of Republican Gov. Scott Walker. The mechanism for this investigation was an allegedly nonpolitical, but in fact entirely partisan, "Government Accountability Board."

In the course of its secretive "John Doe" investigation, the GAB hoovered up millions of personal emails from Republican donors and supporters, and even raided people’s homes, while forbidding them to talk about it:

...Now an investigation by Wisconsin Attorney General Brad Schimel on behalf of the overseeing court has spelled out a long list of misdeeds by the investigators, and has called for punishments including contempt-of-court holdings and possible disbarment. And the stuff that it has uncovered is pretty awful.

In short, it was a partisan witch hunt masquerading as an inquiry into campaign irregularities. And confidential information gathered during that investigation was deliberately leaked in an effort (unsuccessful) to influence a pending United States Supreme Court decision.

...It’s too early to say, as one account does, that the Wisconsin debacle prefigured the ongoing Robert Mueller investigation into Trump’s campaign, though there are certainly similarities between the attitudes of "The Resistance" in Washington and the Wisconsin establishment’s response to Walker. Writing in The Washington Post last week, Ed Rogers wrote that, though he’d supported Mueller in the past, Mueller needed to get a handle on the overwhelming partisan slant of his prosecutors or he’d be discredited.

It’s good advice. Mueller and his investigators should take care not to get wrapped up in partisan politics while conducting a criminal investigation. Because that seldom ends well.

NK Leader Kim Jong-Un Ascends To Top of Holy Mountain Paektu
[TheSun] MOUNTAIN TENSION North Korean leader Kim Jong-un’s visit to the sacred Mount Paektu is a sign he’s plotting his most extreme missile launch yet, experts warn North Korean leaders' visits to the mystical Mount have often preceded important decisions

WAR-hungry North Korean despot Kim Jong-un could be set to launch his most extreme missile launch yet, according to experts.

Kim visited Korea’s most mystical mountain, Mount Paektu, on Friday, and this is the sign that could mean he’s plotting some significant military action in the near future.

North Korean leaders’ visits to the sacred Mount have often preceded important decisions.

Kim last visited the location in September 2016, right after North Korea’s fifth nuclear test.

He was also there in April 2015, just before executing former defense chief Hyon Yong-chol, and in November 2013, before executing his own uncle Jang Song-thaek among other top officials.

"Kim Jong-un is following in his father’s footsteps in visiting the mountain at times of important decisions regarding the state," a South Korean government insider said to Korea Joongang Daily.

He "needs to deliver tangible results on the country’s politics, economy and diplomacy. So it is likely Kim thought through what he is going to present as his vision for next year."

State news agency KCNA explained Kim’s visit as a celebration "after his big achievements in November".

At the end of November North Korea unveiled ICBM Hwasong-15, a new nuclear missile capable of hitting anywhere on Earth.

In September, Kim conducted its sixth and most powerful nuclear test and fired an intermediate-range missile over Japan.

Previously, North Korea successfully launched the country’s first inter-continental ballistic missile (ICBM) in July 2017, the first to have the capability of reaching US territory.

FBI's McCabe 'has an Ohr problem,' will not testify on Tuesday

Deputy FBI Director Andrew McCabe, who was reportedly scheduled to testify behind closed doors in front of the House Intelligence Committee on Tuesday, will instead meet next week due to a "scheduling error," Department of Justice officials told Fox News.

McCabe's testimony was likely to, at least in part, focus on Peter Strzok's role in the Hillary Clinton email investigation.

Strzok is a former deputy to the assistant director at the FBI who was removed from Special Counsel Robert Mueller's staff after Mueller learned Strzok had exchanged anti-Trump texts with a colleague.

House investigators previously told Fox News they have long regarded Strzok as a key figure in the chain of events when the bureau, in 2016, received the infamous anti-Trump "dossier," which launched a counterintelligence investigation into possible Russian meddling in the election.

#1  I suspect Goudy and Jordan have somebody within the Bureau, or recently retired, who is putting the pieces together for them. Interestingly, the congressional investigations appear to be running parallel those of the Mueller team, but not a great deal is coming out of the Mueller investigation.

Then there is Jeff Sessions. Warm milk? Some crackers? What to do, what to do. Could someone build a fire under his arse, or send him to an extended care facility? We deserve much better.

After Iron Dome shoots down rocket fired at Ashkelon, IDF hits Gaza targets
[IsraelTimes] Two rounds of rocket fire and Israeli responses, a day after Israel blew up Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, terror tunnel dug under the border.

Israeli forces attacked Hamas targets in the northern Gazoo Strip early Tuesday after Paleostinians fired a rocket toward the southern city of Ashkelon, the army said. The rocket was intercepted by an Iron Dome anti-missile battery.

After the rocket fire, Israeli aircraft and a tank attacked Hamas sites in the Strip, the army said, noting that it holds the terror group, which runs Gazoo, responsible for all rocket attacks.

This was the second round of Paleostinian rocket fire and Israeli responses in the day.

The rocket, fired at about 11:30 p.m., triggered early warning sirens in Ashkelon, the Lachish region and in the area around the Gazoo Strip.

The IDF said the Iron Dome successfully intercepted the rocket. No injuries were reported.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the rocket fire, which came hours after Israel shelled a Hamas position in Gazoo in response to a missile shot from Gazoo.

No impact site was identified from the rocket fired earlier Monday, the army said, but reports indicated at least one missile landed in an open area near the border fence in the Eshkol region, opposite the southern Strip.

"The IDF hold Hamas responsible for these aggressive acts originating from the Gazoo Strip," the IDF said.

Yemeni army seizes three districts in Hodeidah, Iran evacuates advisers
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Following the progress that the Yemeni army made supported by popular resistance in Hodeidah, navigational sources in the port of Hodeidah revealed that Tehran vacated 40 military advisers from the area along with UN workers in Yemen.

Prior to this, Tehran had evacuated its embassy employees from Sanaa following the intense battles between Houthi

...back at the pound, the little lost dog backed into the corner and showed its teeth. And what big teeth they were!...
Houthi militias are still being clamped down in the west coast of Yemen, with national army and coalition forces fast approaching the city of Hodeidah.

The evacuation of Iranian advisers along with UN workers took place three days ago through the Hodeidah port which is controlled by the militia.

Sources at the port confirmed that the operation was done very discretely so as not to attract any attention.

More notably, the decision to evacuate the Iranian advisers closely followed the killing of Iranian missile expert Hussein Khasrawy, who was killed on Saturday in a coalition raid in Sanaa.

Media sources said that the embassy employees were evacuated from Sanaa to Muscat, after the embassy building was exposed to an air raid during a battle between the Houthis and GPC forces last week.

The Houthis appear to be escalating their crackdown on any possible sign of rebellion among their one-time allies from Saleh’s party, the General People’s Congress. They are also shutting down the Internet and tightening an already existing media blackout.

According to SABA, now under control of the internationally-recognized government, the Houthis also blew up 20 houses in the northern province of Hajja and replaced the province’s governor who was a onetime Saleh associate.

The agency reported on Monday that the Houthis also tossed in the calaboose

Houthi violence continued despite a call by UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres for a renewed push to end the war.

Israel clears 300 landmines in major Golan Heights operations
[IsraelTimes] Largest controlled kaboom to date part of plan to remove thousands of devices from 2-3 square kilometers

Israel cleared 300 landmines in the Golan Heights on Monday in the largest controlled kaboom to date in an ongoing project to secure the strategic platuea.

The operation began in August and is expected to continue for two to three years.

The plan is to clear thousands of mines from an area of two to three square kilometers (0.7-1.15 square miles), which makes up some 10 percent of the total mined area in the Golan and on the bank of the Sea of Galilee.

The mines were laid by the Syrian army some 50 years ago, prior to the 1967 Six Day War.

Israel has thousands of fields that are off-limits due to both anti-personnel and anti-tank minefields. Some were placed there by Israel but are no longer necessary for security. Others were laid by the Syrian, Jordanian and Egypt armies. Other areas are dangerous due to the mines shifting due to the soil moving.

To date, some 200,000 mines have been cleared from a total of some nine square kilometers (3.5 square miles) across the country.

Hokkaido Police arrest 3 N Korean fishing boat crew for theft
[NewsOnJapan] Police in Hokkaido said Saturday they had arrested three of the crew members of a North Korean fishing boat on suspicion of plundering a remote fishing hut.
On Friday the crew cut ropes tethering their boat to a Japanese coast guard vessel near Hakodate port and tried to flee, but the vessel was recaptured later that day.

The boat with 10 crew members had been impounded on Nov 30, two days after being spotted washed ashore on an uninhabited island off the town of Matsumae. The Hokkaido police have been questioning the crew.

The three were arrested on suspicion of stealing a power generator, which was found on their boat, police sources said.

The Immigration Bureau has taken custody of six other members while one has been hospitalized after complaining of ill health. Doctors said he had a gastric ulcer.

The 10 North Koreans are believed to have destroyed a boiler at a refuge hut on the island and stolen electronic appliances and other items, the sources said.

They stripped the generator for its parts and removed a door knob from the hut where they took shelter due to bad weather.

Another generator at a different hut, used to supply water and electricity to the refuge hut, is missing, the sources said.

The items the North Koreans are suspected of stealing include a television, a motorcycle and a solar panel.

Self-propelled vessel intercepted smuggling more than 3,800 pounds of cocaine near Texas
[FOXNEWS] A U.S. Coast Guard cutter intercepted a self-propelled semi-submersible vessel engaged in smuggling more than 3,800 pounds of cocaine, federal officials said Sunday.

According to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), on November 13, CBP and Marine Operations (AMO) tossed in the clink
... anything you say can and will be used against you, whether you say it or not...
the crew during operations in international waters, and all three suspects will face charges in the U.S.

"The narco mobs are relentless and extremely innovative," National Air Security Operations Center ‐ Corpus Christi Director Allen Durham said.

"Interdicting self-propelled semi-submersible vessels requires expertise and the right aircraft. Air and Marine Operations will continue to beat the cartels at their own game to protect our borders."

The multi-day operation from surveillance to interception, according to CBP, involved several interagency partners including the U.S. Coast Guard and the U.S. Navy.

AMO operates maritime patrol aircraft from Corpus Christi, Texas, and Jacksonville, Florida, to conduct long-range aerial patrols and surveillance missions along the U.S. borders and in drug transit zones in Central and South America, according to CBP.

‘The President Stole Your Land': Patagonia picks fight with Trump over national monument reductions
[WashingtonTimes] Outdoor industry leader Patagonia has gone to war with the GOP over national monuments heading into the holiday shopping season, marking the latest instance of a high-profile company battling with the Republican Party and specifically President Trump.

Powerful Republicans in Congress sent out emails Friday taking direct aim at Patagonia and pushing back hard against its claims that public land had been stolen from American citizens, and Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke last week went so far as to brand the company a "special interest" group because of its opposition to the administration.

Patagonia, which has previously delved into politics by coming out strongly against fracking, was one of the loudest critics of Mr. Trump’s move to shrink both the Bears Ears and Grand Staircase-Escalante national monuments last Monday. The action reduced Bears Ears from 1.35 million acres to about 220,000, while Grand Staircase was cut from 1.9 million acres to about 1 million.

Since the announcement, Patagonia’s website has featured the declaration, "The President Stole Your Land," along with a link to how customers can "fight back" against the administration.

Other outdoor giants, such as REI and The North Face, have also come out publicly against the monument reduction, though none have been as brutal in their assault on the administration as Patagonia.

The company also joined lawsuits challenging the president’s move, teaming with environmental and Tribal groups in what’s expected to be a lengthy legal battle that ultimately could wind up before the Supreme Court.

The UN Assistance Mission in Somalia (Unsom) and the UN Human Rights Office, which jointly compiled the report, attribute those deaths and injuries to KDF units not affiliated with the African Union

Kenya's Amisom contingent is meanwhile said in the report to have killed four Somali civilians and injured five others.

"Ultimately, civilians are paying the price for failure to resolve Somalia’s conflicts through political means," said Unsom chief Michael Keating. "And parties to the conflict are simply not doing enough to shield civilians from the violence. This is shameful."

Louisiana man admits misusing Trump's Social Security number
[TOWNHALL] A Louisiana private investigator pleaded guilty on Monday to misusing Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
's Social Security number in repeated attempts to access the president's federal tax information before his election last year.

Jordan Hamlett, 32, faces a maximum sentence of five years in prison and a $250,000 fine following his guilty plea in federal court.

Authorities have said Hamlett failed in his attempts to get Trump's tax information through a U.S. Department of Education financial aid website.

Trump has refused to release his tax returns, bucking an American tradition honored by every president since Jimmy Carter
...only the second worst president ever...
.

A court document accompanying Hamlett's plea agreement says he used Trump's Social Security number and other personal information to open an online application for federal student aid on Sept. 13, 2016. After obtaining a username and password, he tried to use an Internal Revenue Service data retrieval tool to obtain Trump's tax information, the document says.

"The defendant made six separate attempts to obtain the federal tax information from IRS
...the Internal Revenue Service; that office of the United States government that collects taxes and persecutes the regime's political enemies...
servers, but he was unsuccessful," says the document. It doesn't specify how much of Trump's tax information could have been retrieved with the online tool.

Hamlett, a Lafayette resident, was indicted in November 2016. His trial had been scheduled to start this week, but the judge originally assigned to the case died on Saturday after a brief illness. U.S. District Court Judge John deGravelles, who inherited the case, didn't immediately schedule Hamlett's sentencing hearing.

Defense attorney Michael Fiser had argued Hamlett didn't have any "intent to deceive" and simply tried "out of sheer curiosity" to discover whether Trump's tax information could be accessed through the government website.

After Hamlett's guilty plea, Fiser said his client "still has a long road ahead" as he awaits sentencing.

"We felt like, under the circumstances, it was time to accept full responsibility and move forward to get closure," Fiser said.

Federal agents confronted Hamlett two weeks before last November's election and questioned him in a Baton Rouge hotel lobby. At the time, the agents didn't know if Hamlett had been successful, and they feared a public release of Trump's tax returns could influence the election, according to a transcript of court testimony earlier this year.

Red Crescent denies bringing masked rioters to clash with IDF
[aisraelTimes] PRCS disputes army's account of video, says one of the figures seen leaving the ambulance was receiving first aid

The Paleostinian Red Islamic Thingy Society denied transporting masked demonstrators to clash with Israeli security forces during a West Bank protest rebuffing a claim made by the Israel Defense Forces earlier Monday.

In a statement, the PRCS disputed the IDF’s account of what occurs in the video, saying one of the girls who can be seen exiting the ambulance was receiving medical care.

To support its assertion, it released photographs of masked demonstrators who appear to be the same protesters in the IDF video, one of whom who is being lifted into the ambulance.

It did not say what the other two masked figures, one of whom it said was also a girl, were doing in the ambulance.

The PRCS, a member of the International Red Thingy and Red Islamic Thingy Movement, denied violating the umbrella group’s principle of neutrality.

"PRCS affirms that it abides and shall always abide by its fundamental principles in general, and the principles of neutrality and impartiality in particular. PRCS affirms that it has done nothing but discharge its humanitarian mission and provide treatment to those who need it," it said.

In the video, filmed at a major junction near the entrance to the Beit El settlement, a Paleostinian Red Islamic Thingy ambulance is seen parked at the side of the road. A uniformed Red Islamic Thingy medic opens the rear doors and three masked protesters, carrying Paleostinian and other flags, emerge.

The three protesters then head toward crowds across the junction who were facing off against IDF troops. The ambulance drives off to join other ambulances parked close to the main body of demonstrators, apparently to collect any injured protesters.

The IDF said the video was taken Monday, the fifth straight day of demonstrations against US President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
’s recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.

The short clip did not indicate where the ambulance had come from before dropping off the protesters.

On Saturday, the IDF accused Paleostinians rioters of using an ambulance as a shield to protect themselves while they attacked soldiers.

According to the military, the Paleostinian rioters hid behind the ambulance as they believed it would prevent the soldiers from retaliating.

Photographs released by the military showed Paleostinians on at least two occasions throwing rocks while standing behind an ambulance. The Times of Israel could not independently verify where and when the pictures were taken.

Former Acting CIA Director Michael Morell Now Has Regrets
Goodness. Capable of reflection, at last?
[Daily Caller] Former Acting CIA Director Michael Morell thinks that intelligence agencies were too harsh to Trump during the campaign and presidential transition, according to an interview released Monday.

Morell, who left the CIA in 2013 after serving as its acting director twice, endorsed Hillary Clinton in an August 2016 New York Times op-ed.

Politico’s Susan Glassner asked Morell if getting involved was a mistake and the former CIA official said that it wasn’t, but that "there were downsides to it that I didn’t think about at the time."

"I was concerned about what is the impact it would have on the agency, right? Very concerned about that, thought that through. But I don’t think I fully thought through the implications," Morell said.

"So, let’s put ourselves here in Donald Trump’s shoes. So, what does he see? Right? He sees a former director of CIA and a former director of NSA, Mike Hayden, who I have the greatest respect for, criticizing him and his policies. Right? And he could rightfully have said, ’Huh, what’s going on with these intelligence guys?’ Right?"

Well, backing the corrupt communists in the democrat party could have been a clue if any of you klingons had any intelligence.

As far as I AM concerned, I do not have a government right now.
Just corrupt democrat party members.
Democrat national socialists without swastikas weaponizing the government against the opposition and regular Americans who just want to go about their lives.

It would be one thing if you were any good at your jobs at all, but you are the opposite of that because your ideology always corrupts correct thinking.

False doctrine is just that and I will always remember your misfeasance / malfeasance, lack of character, and lack of Faith past the day of your passing.

This goes for all of you federal goons who used your positions to support the nastiest people on earth - the democrat party - in land where my feet are planted.

#3  "there were downsides to it that I didn’t think about at the time."

Downsides like what if your coup attempt failed and your side lost the election? Was he perhaps one of the guys threatening not to brief Trump during the transition? "Didn't think things through" is a pretty damning and shameful admission for the head of an intelligence agency.

IMAO, the damage Obama did to America was not the international bowing and scraping, the mom jeans or the school lunch kale. It was the destruction of trust in government agencies like the IRS, the EPA, the DOJ, the FBI and the CIA. All of them have been turned into partisan political weapons that were (and are) being used against the Democrat's opponents. So much for that whole "nation of laws" thing.

They are (or were) the 'deep state' puppet masters, the 'shadow government' behind the indolent Soetoro, Bush, and arse-bandit Clinton. The Hildebeest was to be the continuing chapter. Morell was a career analyst. As Brennan's #2, Morell knew precisely what was taking place and what he and others were doing. It all went tragically wrong for them with outsider Donald Trump.

Now he feints ignorance, regret. Nice try Mr. Morell, but it looks like another 'air ball.'

Examine the power structure of any of history's totalitarian regimes and you will oftentimes find the intelligence apparatus neatly woven into, or in the seat of the senior political structure. Vladimir Putin is a contemporary example.

House Republican declares, ‘Diversity is not our strength’
More on this article from yesterday.
[MSNBC] Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) has earned a reputation for divisive
...politicians call things divisive when when the other side sez something they don't like. Their own statements are never divisive, they're principled...
, racially provocative rhetoric. Even John It is not pronounced 'Boner!' Boehner
... the occasionally weepy former establishmentarian leader of House Republicans...
(R-Ohio), before he stepped down as House Speaker, reportedly dismissed the far-right Iowan as an "a**hole."

But the controversies have done little to deter King from using insulting language. Late last week, the GOP congressman added to his greatest-hits collection.

Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) has again flirted with being an open white nationalist. In a tweet Friday, the congressman lashed out at multiculturalism.

"Diversity is not our strength," the congressman wrote, linking to an article on a deeply dubious anti-immigration website called Voice of Europe, which quotes Hungary’s far-right prime minister, Viktor Orban, as saying that "mixing cultures will not lead to a higher quality of life but a lower one."

As the HuffPost’s piece added, "diversity is not our strength" is a popular phrase on the right-wing fringe.

The nation’s founding creed may be "E pluribus unum," but it appears there are some who take issue with the principle.

My question, however, is less about Steve King and more about what Republican leaders intend to do about Steve King.

For example, the House GOP leadership has put King in charge of the House Judiciary Committee’s panel on "the Constitution & Civil Justice."

Africa Horn
EU Naval Force marks 9 years fighting pirates off Somalia
[RADIOSHABELLE] The European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
Naval Force (EU NAVFOR) on Friday marked the ninth anniversary of its Operation Atalanta, the successful counter-piracy operation that has greatly contributed to curbing Somali-based piracy off the Horn of Africa and in the Western Indian Ocean.

During the past eight years, Operation Atalanta’s mission has been focussed on four main aspects. First, it protects vessels of the World Food Programme and African Union
...a union consisting of 53 African states, most run by dictators of one flavor or another. The only all-African state not in the AU is Morocco. Established in 2002, the AU is the successor to the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), which was even less successful...
Mission (AMISOM) to Somalia through close escort protection by EU NAVFOR warships. It also is set up to deter and disrupt piracy and armed robbery at sea within the Gulf of Aden and along the Somalia Coast, and has the authority to arrest, detain and transfer persons suspected of intending to commit, committing, or having committed acts of piracy or armed robbery at sea. EU NAVFOR’s mission also includes protecting the variety merchant ships transiting through the busy and precarious sea lanes in the region. Finally, EU NAVFOR assets monitor fishing activities off the coast of Somalia.

Notable achievements have included the establishment of the International Recognised Transit Corridor in the Gulf of Aden. Other positive developments include International agreements that allow regional prosecution of pirates from Kenya and Seychelles and other states as well as the Shared Awareness and De-confliction Conferences (SHADE) that have been extremely successful in bringing together national navies not normally associated with the EU, NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. A single organization with differing goals, equipment, language, doctrine, and structure....
or the Combined Maritime Force (CMF).

The operation has also played a critical role reducing acts of piracy and preventing attacks before they happen.

At the height of Somali piracy in January 2011, 736 hostages and 32 ships were being held by pirates. By October 2016, however, those numbers have dropped zero thanks in part to the international naval forces patrolling the area and use of armed guards on merchant vessels.

4 Ukrainians wounded in artillery shelling in Donetsk

Fighting in the recently captured Gladosovo and Travnevoye villages and shelling in key parts of the line of contact continued as five Ukrainian soldiers were wounded and one rebel soldier was killed, according to Russian language news accounts.

On Friday night, according to Russian backed rebel media in Donetsk, a Ukrainian seven man patrol was caught near Dolomitoye attempting to infiltrate the line of contact south.

Dolomitoye is near Gorlovka and Gladosovo. According to the news release, two Ukrainian effectives were killed as the other five escaped back to their lines.

Rebels media reported that Ukrainian site commanders in Gladosovo and Travnevoye have detained a number of civilians in the two towns, two of them charged with reporting to rebel commanders as artillery damage assessors. According to Dontesk ministry of defense spokesmans Colonel Eduard Basurin, Ukrainian commanders are talking about using the detainees as human shields.

Reports in the Russian sponsored Russkaya Vesna news outlet said that looting continues to occur in Gladosovo and Travnevoye, and that Ukrainian commanders are promising their soldiers to permit looting in exchange for capturing rebel held villages.

Ukrainian media has not addressed the charges to date.

Russkaya Vesna also reported that Ukrainian artillery fire struck rebel positions at the Donetsk airport, Spartak and the Yasinovataya checkpoint Monday night.

Russkaya Vesna also said that on Monday night, Ukrainian heavy artillery fire hit rebel positions at Logvinovo south of the Svetlodarsk arc. An hour later, Ukrainian artillery hit rebel positions at Stakhanov and to the east of Svetlodarsk at Pervomaisk, both of which are key positions for the rebels in Lugansk.

In lb.ua, however, a report said that on Sunday five Ukrainians were wounded in rebel shelling in a number of locales in both Donetsk and Lugansk.

The report said that rebel mortar and heavy weapons fire hit the Lugansk villages of Krymskoye, Novotoshkovskiy, Travnevoye, Svetlodarsk, Luganskoye and Zaitsevo.

The lb.ua report goes on to state that heavy fighting took place in Avdievka, where rebels fired more than three dozen 82mm mortar shells, including mines.

Second Jewish building in Sweden attacked with firebombs
[IsraelTimes] Molotov cocktails thrown at chapel in Malmo cemetery, two days after synagogue in Gothenburg hit; on Friday, marchers in Malmo vowed to 'shoot the Jews'

Swedish police on Monday said they were probing an attempted arson against a Jewish chapel after a similar attack against a synagogue, which came in the wake of the US recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.

Two burning objects were thrown at the chapel, located at a Jewish cemetery, in Sweden’s third largest city of Malmo, the Jewish assembly said in a statement on Monday.

The Local news website said Molotov cocktails had been thrown at the building.

Malmo police front man Lars Forstell told AFP that the incident is being investigated "as an attempted arson" and that the motive is unclear.

No serious damage was done to the building and no one was hurt.

But the Jewish assembly in Malmo said it sees the incident as "extremely serious."

"We strongly emphasize that we can never accept being subjected to threats and attacks," it said in the statement.

The chapel was the target of a previous arson attack in 2009, the Local website reported at the time. A small fire started causing a little damage to the building.

In 2015 Swedish police posted officers at the cemetery after a Jewish man reported he was intimidated by passersby at the site.

Swedish police have tightened security near Jewish sites across the nation following a fire attack on a synagogue in the second largest city of Gothenburg on late Saturday.

More than a dozen men hurled Molotov cocktails at the synagogue in the southern Sweden city, hours after locals marched there against US President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
’s recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.

The synagogue did not catch fire and no one was hurt. Police have detained three men on suspicion of attempted arson.

In Malmo on Friday, around 200 protesters gathered, threatening and calling for violence against Jews, according to the Swedish daily Sydsvenskan.

Swedish Foreign Minister Margot Wallstrom on Sunday condemned the synagogue Molotov cocktailing and the calls in Malmo for violence against Jews, saying anti-Semitism had no place in Swedish society.

Prime Minister Stefan Lofven has also condemned "calls for violence against Jews."

This was a reference, in part, to chants about shooting Jews heard at the Malmo rally.

"We have announced the intifada from Malmö. We want our freedom back, and we will shoot the Jews," some in the rally of 200 demonstrators shouted, according to the public radio station. Intifada is the Arabic-language word for a violent uprising.

"There is no place for anti-Semitism in Swedish society," Lofven said in a statement.

Martial law in Mindanao targets NPA too
[Inquirer] The Philippine government will use the full force of martial law to counter possible intensified attacks from the New People’s Army in Mindanao, after the cancellation of peace talks with the communist militants. Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said, "For as long as there are acts of rebellion being committed in the island province of Mindanao, yes he will use the full force of martial law against the New People’s Army as well."

Roque said the communist insurgency “is a continuing crime, so for as long as they don’t lay down their [arms], they are committing a criminal act.”

In his letter to Congress, President Rodrigo Duterte included the attacks of the NPA in justifying his intent for to extend martial law in Mindanao for one year.

Duterte said that while the government was busy addressing the threats posed by other terrorist organizations, the NPA “took advantage of the situation and intensified their decades-long rebellion against the government and stepped up terrorist acts against innocent civilians and private entities.”

Asked why Duterte did not expand the coverage of martial law in view of the fact that NPA rebels are active in other parts of the country, Roque said, “He could have but he did not.”

Duterte had earlier signed a proclamation labeling the Communist Party of the Philippines and the NPA as a terrorist group after the cancellation of peace talks.

“The martial law administrator is empowered to order the arrest of individuals and because the privilege of the writ of habeas corpus they would have to wait for the lifting of martial law for judicial remedy,” he said.

Chinese Rooftop Climber Wu Yongning Makes Final Climb
[BBC] A well-known Chinese climber has died while performing one of his trademark daredevil skyscraper stunts.

Wu Yongning had amassed thousands of followers on the social network Weibo for his dramatic short videos showing him perched atop tall buildings without the use of safety equipment.

Concern grew among his fans when he stopped posting updates in November.

It has now emerged that he died after falling from a 62-storey building in the city of Changsha.

Chinese media report that he was participating in a challenge to win a substantial amount of prize money.

The 26-year-old died on 8 November, but his death was only confirmed by his girlfriend in a post on Chinese social media a month later.

So-called "rooftopping" - climbing extremely tall city buildings without safety equipment - has become increasingly popular across the world in recent years.

Mr Wu's posts on Weibo warned his viewers not to imitate his dangerous performances. He had martial arts training, and had previously taken part in some television and film productions.

[Daily Caller] New details are emerging about a Justice Department official who was demoted last week after it was discovered that he met during the presidential campaign with the author of the anti-Trump dossier.

The wife of Bruce Ohr, the demoted DOJ official, worked during the campaign for Fusion GPS, the opposition research firm that commissioned the dossier as part of a project financed by the Clinton campaign and DNC.

Fox News broke the news on Monday. A source familiar with the matter confirmed the discovery to The Daily Caller.

Bruce Ohr held two positions at the Justice Department until last week, when Fox News inquired about his encounters last year with Christopher Steele and Glenn Simpson.

Steele is the former British spy who wrote the dossier. Simpson is a co-founder of Fusion GPS. Ohr met Steele at some point during the presidential campaign and met Simpson several weeks after the election. He was stripped of his title as deputy assistant attorney general, a job that put him directly under Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, who is overseeing the Russia investigation.

According to Fox, Ohr’s bosses at the Justice Department were not aware of his meetings with Steele and Simpson.

Ohr still holds his position as director of the Justice Department’s Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force.

So if Fox News hadn't said something, the SOB would still be in those positions? Difficult for me to believe no one at DoJ was aware of this fellow's activities, or those of his wife. Could we have a bit more on the Fox News discovery please ?

Interesting micro-fact:
FCC granted Nellie an amateur radio operator's license in May of 2016. Ham radio is of course open channel voice but may also be used to pass an encrypted digital bit stream as analog. As such it is generally unmonitored and OCONUS receivers are not regulated by the FCC.

From Easter: "In this way the diffusion of power along informal lines was a precondition of state collapse. From this perspective it can be argued that the Soviet state eventually fell apart along the same lines upon which it had been built six decades earlier"

and Thurston: "it was not necessary to use terror to gain cooperation, nor did the regime exercise rigid and total control over the population; citizens had some room to criticize aspects of the system. Indeed, even if it had intended to impose order through terror, the regime failed miserably: low officials spent more time covering their rears than doing good work, people resisted being promoted to vulnerable positions of responsibility in the first place, and, as Thurston sums it up, "The Terror was not a logical system, and it did not systematically produce desirable behavior from the standpoint of the regime."

Afghanistan
Former Afghan PM slams Iran’s ‘negative’ role
[ARABNEWS] Former Afghan prime minister and chief of Hizb-e-Islami Afghanistan (HIA), Gulbuddin Hekmatyar
... who used to be known in intelligence circles as The Most Evil Man in the World but who now seems merely run-of-the-mill evil...
, said Iran’s role in his country "has always been negative."

Tehran "has always preferred continuation of war in Afghanistan... Iran has invested for at least 30 years (on war)," he told Pakistain’s Geo TV.

"Iran is a party to the war in Afghanistan and supports different groups... Most of the weapons came from Iran after the withdrawal of the former Soviet Union (from Afghanistan)," he said, adding that Tehran is providing weapons to the Taliban
...Arabic for students...
"Many countries think their national interests are served by the continuation of the war," he said, adding that other countries should not bring their rivalries to Afghanistan.

"Unfortunately some neighbors don’t want an end to the war... so there’s instability, differences among Afghan leaders and a weak government. They’ve been spending on this war for 30 to 40 years," Hekmatyar said.

"Pakistain is the only country badly affected by the Afghan war. Pakistain... suffered the most. This war paved the way for the creation of groups that took up arms against Pakistain," he added.

"Pakistain wanted to import energy, gas, electricity and oil from Central Asia, but the war has blocked this and Pakistain faces a lot of problems due to an energy crisis."

Afghanistan
Demystifying Hekmatyar’s Pashtunism
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] On November 4th, Gullbudin Hekmatyar held a presser on parliamentary elections of Afghanistan which will be held in July next year. The presser was covered heavily by the media only to show Hekmatyar’s leadership as a Pashtun leader. Hekmatyar, a known warlord who earned fame during the Civil War, with undisputed loyalty to Pakistain, has misrepresented Pashtuns for decades. Hekmatyar’s imposed leadership as a Pashtun by domestic and foreign media has created many ethnic issues among Afghans in Afghanistan. Hekmatyar, the leader of Hizb-e-Islami, influenced by Sayed Qutb,
...leader and philosopher of the Muslim Brotherhood during the Nasser period, his writings inspired Al Qaeda and other jihadi groups as well. The two years he spent during his youth studying and travelling in America upset him greatly ...

A Brief Review of Groups and Their Leaders
The Afghan Civil War was devastating and it divided the nation, but it also raised many questions on the legitimacy of the leadership that had emerged during the war. Multiple groups were involved in the Afghan civil war supported by its own ethnicity. Major groups were, Jamaat -e- Islami, a group led by a Tajiks (some Tajiks were also pro-Sitam-e-Milli); Junbishi-e-Mili was mainly an Uzbek group led by Dostum

’s nephew.

Saleh’s nephew, Brigadier Tariq Mohammed Saleh, was also the head of his security and led several battles against the Houthis in Sanaa. The source confirmed that the militia insists that Brigadier Saleh is in hiding in Khawlan, and that he was not killed with his uncle as the General People’s Congress (GPC) Party’s news outlets had claimed.

The heads of the GPC Party said that Brigadier Saleh was killed right before the liquidation of former President Saleh, indicating that the former president had attended his nephew’s funeral before meeting his fate on the hands of the Houthi militia.

According to primary sources, the Khawlan tribes defended Sheikh al-Ghader and destroyed eight groups belonging to the militia in festivities that continued until late Sunday evening.

Tribal sources had said earlier that Houthi militias have been trying to arrest Sheikh al-Ghader, and announce his surrender to them while seizing his weapons. This was prior to the Yemeni army and Arab-led coalition forces liberating the Khawlan front as it is considered the eastern gate to the capital Sanaa.

Sources have also said that the Houthis were displeased with Sheikh al-Ghader and other leaders of the Khawlan tribe supporting the Yemeni army in their quest to free Sanaa, after the Houthis killed former President Saleh.

Tribal sources called on the legitimate Yemeni government and the Arab coalition forces led by Soddy Arabia

Sheikh al-Ghader was one of the faces of the tribe who worked in previous mediation committees between Saleh and the Houthis. He is known to be loyal to the former president.

Who is Qais al-Khazaali, godfather of Iranian-backed Shiite militias?
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] A video showing the leader of Iraq’s Iranian-backed Asaib Ahl al-Haq militia, Qais Khazaali, appearing at the Lebanese-Israeli border earlier this week has prompted widespread debate.

He was seen in the footage in military uniform, meeting with Hezbollah factions and announced: "The whole country together with Hezbollah is ready to fight and prelude to the Islamic state that is ruled by the Awaited Mahdi."

This produced a wide discussion about the character of Khazaali who just a few months ago took over the task of announcing the Badr Organization, an Iraqi Shiite militia that is fully Iranian-backed.

Following the spread of a video of the visit that showed aKhazaali entering the country illegally, Leb’s Prime Minister Saad al-Hariri demanded to ban him from entering Leb. He also called on carrying out the "necessary measures and investigations to prevent any person from carrying out activities of a military nature on Lebanese territory," according to a statement released by his office.

His appearance attracted further widespread condemnation among other Lebanese government officials.

But who is Khazaali?
Qais al-Khazaali was born in the city of al-Sadr, east of Baghdad in 1974. He completed his highschool education in the Iraqi capital where he also went on to study Geology at university.

He then began focusing on religious studies, and was taught under the mentorship of religious authority Muhammad Muhammad Sadiq al-Sadr. He later worked at al-Sadr’s office.

After al-Sadr was killed in 1999, Khazaali remained close to al-Sadr’s fourth son, and helped him with propaganda, security and finances.

After the US invasion of Iraq in 2003, Khazaali created the special groups to fight alongside Akram al-Kaaby, the leader of the al-Nujba Iraqi Shiite militia. Both men later created the Asaib Ahl al-Haq in 2006.

British forces tossed in the calaboose
You have the right to remain silent...
and imprisoned Khazaali, his brother and a number of their followers in 2007 for two and a half years. At the end of 2009, the Asaib Ahl al-Haq group captured five British employees from inside the Ministry of Finance in Baghdad. They were then exchanged for Khazaali the following year.

As time went by, and American and British forces withdrew from Iraq, Khazaali began to get involved in politics and ran for parliament in 2014.

The Asaib Ahl al-Haq group receives training and finances from Iran, and is composed of a number of brigades geographically distributed into combat missions. They fight with about 4,000 of those brigades in Syria to save the Bashir al-Assad regime, under the leadership of the Iranian revolutionary guard.

documents continue to reveal more of the inner-workings of al-Qaeda and its leader Osama bin Ladin, the letters found in his Pakistain compound in 2011 show how the criminal mastermind behind the September 11 attacks took such care of his portrayal throughout the West by focusing on British journalist Robert Fisk

Philippine military ‘neutralizes’ 350 Abu Sayyaf rebels in 2017
[Inquirer] Four commanders of military task forces in Western Mindanao reported more than 350 neutralized Abu Sayyaf terrorists since January this year. Lieutenant General Carlito Galvez Jr., commander Western Mindanao said a total of 353 members of the Abu Sayyaf were neutralized, “five times higher than the number of neutralized members in 2016 that only recorded 75.”

Of the total, 136 Abus surrendered: 72 in Basilan, 43 in Sulu and 21 in Tawi-tawi, Galvez said in his 2017 operations report. He said 127 were killed and 90 were caught within their jurisdiction. Galvez attributed this to the military’s “intensified combat and law enforcement support operations.

He said kidnapping incidents this year went down to 12 from 23 in 2016. The insurgents attacked civilians 77 times, which is was also down from 123 incidents in 2016.

19-year-old kills sister, brother-in-law for contracting free will marriage
[DAWN] A 19-year-old resident of Nagyal in Rawalpindi's Gujjar Khan tehsil on Monday allegedly rubbed out his sister and and her husband in what police described as an 'honour killing'.

The accused, identified as Saeed Anwar, had been upset at his sister ‐ Mismat Musarrat, 18‐ for marrying Qaiser, 25 after finding out that the victims had been romantically involved prior to their marriage.

SHO Ishtiaq Masood Cheema told DawnNews that the suspect had been waiting for an opportunity to kill the husband and wife ever since they married a few months ago.

The SHO said that, upon finding the couple alone in their house, the accused fired at them with a pistol, killing them both on the spot. He later tried to flee the scene, but was apprehended by the police along with the murder weapon.

SHO Cheema said police have booked Anwar for a double murder. Police will present him in court tomorrow to seek physical remand. The bodies of the victims have been shifted to a local hospital for a post mortem examination.

Libyan forces suffer casualties as fighting drags on in Benghazi
[ARABNEWS] Libyan forces fighting in Benghazi have lost four men and seen 10 maimed so far in December, five months after declaring victory in a campaign to control the eastern city, a medical source said on Monday.

Three of the dead from the Libyan National Army (LNA) were killed by snipers and one by a land mine as it faces resistance from a group of fighters in the Benghazi district of Khreibish.

There have been daily festivities in the area and occasional air strikes.

LNA commander Khalifa Haftar
...Self-proclaimed Field Marshal, served in the Libyan army under Muammar Qadaffy, and took part in the coup that brought Qadaffy to power in 1969. He became a prisoner of war in Chad in 1987. While held prisoner, he and his fellow officers formed a group hoping to overthrow Qadaffy. He was released around 1990 in a deal with the United States government and spent nearly two decades in the United States, gaining US citizenship. In 1993, while living in the United States, he was convicted in absentia of crimes against the Jamahiriya and sentenced to death. Haftar held a senior position in the anti-Qadaffy forces in the 2011 Libyan Civil War. In 2014 he was commander of the Libyan Army when the General National Congress (GNC) refused to give up power in accordance with its term of office. Haftar launched a campaign against the GNC and its Islamic fundamentalist allies. His campaign allowed elections to take place to replace the GNC, but then developed into a civil war. Guess you can't win them all...
declared victory in a three-year military campaign against an array of forces of Evil and other fighters in Benghazi in early July.

The fighting is part of a broader conflict that developed following the 2011 fall of strongman Muammar Qadaffy
...a proud Arab institution for 42 years, now among the dear departed, though not the dearest...
. Haftar has opposed a UN-backed government based in the capital, Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
, as he has gradually strengthened his position on the ground.

Also on Monday, he UN urgently appealed for countries to take in 1,300 "extremely vulnerable" refugees stranded in Libya, following revelations of horrific abuse of migrants colonists in the country.

The UN refugee agency (UNHCR) said there was a dire need for 1,300 resettlement places by the end of March 2018.

"This is a desperate call for solidarity and humanity," Volker Turk, UNHCR’s Assistant High Commissioner for Protection, said in a statement.

"We need to get extremely vulnerable refugees out of Libya as soon as possible," he said. The chaos-ridden country has long been a major transit hub for migrants colonists trying to reach Europe. Many refugees and migrants colonists have fallen prey to serious abuse there at the hands of human traffickers and others.

Abu Sayyaf Executes Vietnamese Boat Captain
[BENARNEWS.ORG] Abu Sayyaf
...also known as al-Harakat al-Islamiyya, an Islamist terror group based in Jolo, Basilan and Zamboanga. Since its inception in the early 1990s, the group has carried out bombings, kidnappings, murders, head choppings, and extortion in their uniquely Islamic attempt to set up an independent Moslem province in the Philippines. Abu Sayyaf forces probably number less than 300 cadres. The group is closely allied with remnants of Indonesia's Jemaah Islamiya and has loose ties with MILF and MNLF who sometimes provide cannon fodder...
kidnapers executed a Vietnamese hostage after holding him captive for more than a year in the southern Philippines, the military said Monday.

The body of Pham Minh Tuan, the captain of the M/V Royal 16 vessel who was taken hostage along with five crew members by Abu Sayyaf hard boyz in November 2016, was recovered in a coastal village on Jolo island at the weekend, military officials said.

"Tuan’s remains were airlifted to Manila and turned over to the Vietnamese Embassy," said Chief Superintendent Graciano Mijares, head of the regional police.

M/V Royal 16 was carrying cement from northeastern Vietnam to the Philippines when it was attacked off the island of Basilan
...Basilan is a rugged, jungle-covered island in the southern Philippines. It is a known stronghold of the Abu Sayyaf, bandidos, and maybe even orcs. Most people with any sense travel with armed escorts...
in the south.

The boat had 19 crew members aboard, according to the Vietnamese embassy in the Philippines, but the attackers took six, including the captain, as hostages and let the rest go.

Tuan and his five crewmen apparently were taken to the jungles of Jolo island farther south, military officials said. One of the five escaped in June, while two had their heads chopped off a month later.

Mijares said the button men initially thought the boat captain could be ransomed for a big amount, but they were mistaken. He did not elaborate.

Last month, troops rescued four Vietnamese hostages from the Abu Sayyaf but found a fifth dead. This group was taken from another ship button men boarded in February.

At least six foreigners are believed to be held captive by Abu Sayyaf, officials said. The bandidos last year had beheaded two Canadians and a German national held separately, after ransom payments demanded by the captors were not met.

Arabia
What is in store for Yemen after Ali Abdullah Saleh
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] former President-for-Life Ali Abdullah Saleh
... Saleh initially took power as a strongman of North Yemen in 1977, when disco was in flower, but he didn't invite Donna Summer to the inauguration and Blondie couldn't make it...
, the former Yemeni president, was assassinated by the hands of Iran’s arm in Yemen.

He was assassinated by the Houthis just as former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Hariri was assassinated by the hands of Iran’s terrorist wing, Hezbollah, in Leb.

This is a barbaric model that has been unleashed by Iran in the region under an abhorrent sectarian umbrella.

Confrontation or conflict with Iran is not a sectarian conflict nor is it a political conflict as it is always described, but a conflict between the humanitarian and civil project and co-existence in return for the brutal mission that Iran is carrying out to the region.

History bears witness to the fact that wherever Iran interfered, blood flowed like waterfalls. Iran is on a "non-human" mission.

The project of exporting its revolution calls for the capitulation of its opponents, stirring up sectarian strife, sowing ideological division and the liquidation of all leading personalities who enjoy a great deal of goodwill among their people and are quite popular in the political arena.

What is happening in Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of. Except for a tiny handfull of Jews everthing there is very Islamic...
today, and in other capitals of the Arab world, is neither just interference in the internal affairs of the Arab states, nor an occupation but an aggression, no less dangerous than the Israeli occupation of Paleostine.

Inhuman project
We are facing a non-civilized and inhumane project, an aggressive and privileged one to be allowed to remain, expand and maintain. Today, there is a dividing line and it is not permissible to compliment it.

The countries that support the Iranian project with economic, political, media and banking relations in all forms must take a very clear position because the "compliments" continue in the double message that reaches them. Countries such as Qatar
...an emirate on the east coast of the Arabian Peninsula. It sits on some really productive gas and oil deposits, which produces the highest per capita income in the world. They piss it all away on religion, financing the Moslem Brotherhood and several al-Qaeda affiliates. Home of nutbag holy manYusuf al-Qaradawi...
, Leb, The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
and others, all of which have influential relations with the Iranian mission, for which the whole region pays in one way or another.

The killing of Ali Abdullah Saleh does not end the conflict in Yemen. On the contrary, Yemen is a tribal society that believes in vengeance and retaliation, and it is expected that the death of the man will unite the parties in front of the common enemy, that is, the malicious Iranian mission and its mercenaries.

The coming days will witness the movement of teams to rescue their country from the occupation of Houthis and the initial reaction confirms that there is anguish and bitterness and oppression and a desire for Dire Revenge because the self-disgrace and disgrace of the Iranian media and its generosity for Yemen and its people will not be accepted by the people of Yemen.

Man held over jihadist murders of French police couple after 'DNA found on their computer'
[YAHOO] French police jugged
Drop the rosco, Muggsy, or you're one with the ages!
a man on Monday in connection with the jihadist murder of a police couple after his DNA was allegedly matched to traces found in their home near Gay Paree, legal sources said.

It also claimed that the 24-year-old has been linked to Larossi Aballa,
...whose name is more commonly given as Larossi Abballa in our archives...
the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
of Iraq and the Levant (Isil) Death Eater who claimed the June 2016 attack in a live video from the murder scene before being killed by police in a shootout, the sources added.

The suspect, who was not on a terrorism watchlist, was arrested in the western Gay Paree suburb of Les Mureaux.

His brother, Charaf-Din Aberouz, 29,
...who was jailed earlier in the decade for some Al Qaeda nonsense, then got up to more nonsense after being released...
has already been charged with providing logistical assistance to Aballa, whose chilling attack - one in a string of assaults in La Belle France since January 2015 - caused shock in police ranks.

Aballa stabbed police captain Jean-Baptiste Salvaing to death outside his home in Magnanville, 60 kilometres west of Gay Paree, and then slit the throat of his lover companion Jessica Schneider in front of the couple's three-year-old son.

In a Facebook Live video from the scene, he called for further terror attacks.

The man arrested Monday was already investigated over a foiled attack by a group of female jihadists who tried to set set fire to a car containing gas canisters near Notre-Dame Cathedral in Gay Paree in September 2016.
The ladies in question being Ornella Gilligman, Sarah Hervouet, Amel Sakaou and Ines Madani.
Charged with failing to report that plot, he spent four months in preventive custody before being released in January.

He is still under formal investigation in that case and faces charges of "failing to denounce a terrorist crime".

Investigators believe that a notorious French IS member, Rachid Kassim, directed both attacks from the Middle East, using the encrypted Telegram app.
...and many others during his meteoric career as a seducer of French youth...
Kassim is believed to have been killed in a coalition air strike near the Iraqi city of djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
in February.

Istanbul massacre gunman refuses to testify as trial opens
The mustache wax and Number 4 truncheon did not perform as advertised? Truly the Turks have degenerated under the rule of Sultan Recep Tayip Erdogan I, known to himself as the much beloved.
[YAHOO] An Uzbek jihadist who confessed to killing 39 people at an Istanbul nightclub in a New Year gun attack refused to testify Monday on the first day of his trial as his wife denied any links to krazed killers.

Abdulkadir Masharipov, 34 at the time of the attack, went on trial at the Silivri prison complex near Istanbul along with 56 other suspects.

Masharipov, who was present in court, faces 40 life sentences, one for each of the victims and the massacre itself.

The others on trial include Masharipov's wife Zarina Nurullayeva who is a suspected accomplice and risks similar penalties to her husband. All but six are being held in jug.

Masharipov is facing charges ranging from "attempting to destroy constitutional order" and "membership of an armed terrorist organization", to "murdering more than one person".

According to the indictment, the order for the Afghanistan-trained Masharipov to carry out the attack was given by a senior Russian Syria-based IS krazed killer named Islam Atabiev, codenamed Abu Jihad.

Masharipov -- dressed in a sweater and jeans -- was seated between two members of the Ottoman Turkish gendarmerie and kept well away from the other defendants in court.

When given the chance to speak by the judge, he used his right to silence and refused to testify, speaking in Uzbek translated into Ottoman Turkish.

Zimbabwe's White Farmers Will Get Compensation‐But They're Not Getting Land Back
[Quarts Africa] Zimbabwe wants to address the chaotic and violent manner in which it took away land from local white farmers nearly 20 years later as new president Emmerson Mnangagwa bids to reassure investors his administration is restoring respect for property rights and investment protection.

The agrarian reform, presided over by president Robert Mugabe in 2000, displaced the mostly white commercial farmers without compensation. Mugabe said the policy was earmarked at putting productive land into the hands of black Zimbabweans although most of them were inexperienced and poorly resourced, leading to a fall in agricultural production and leaving the country a net importer of staple maize grain between 2000 and 2016.
