Sessions Revives, Orders Justice Dept to investigate Obama - Hezbollah scandal
BLUF:
[Politico via Right Scoop] Attorney General Jeff Sessions has ordered the Justice Department to dig into allegations in a POLITICO report that a series of potential drug prosecutions related to the pro-Iranian militant group Hezbollah were abandoned as the Obama administration pressed to strike a deal with Iran over its nuclear program.

Sessions indicated that he was troubled by allegations that Project Cassandra ‐ the Drug Enforcement Administration’s drive to target Hezbollah’s foray into drug trafficking ‐ ran into high-level roadblocks that stymied many of the cases agents wanted to bring as well as efforts to get suspects extradited from overseas to the U.S.

"Operations designed to investigate and prosecute terrorist organizations that are also fueling that drug crisis must be paramount in this administration," Sessions said in a statement released to reporters Friday evening. "While I am hopeful that there were no barriers constructed by the last administration to allowing DEA agents to fully bring all appropriate cases under Project Cassandra, this is a significant issue for the protection of Americans. We will review these matters and give full support to investigations of violent drug trafficking organizations."

Europe
France Deploys 100,000 Soldiers and Police Officers for the Holidays
PARIS (AP) ‐ France’s government is deploying nearly 100,000 police and soldiers for the holiday season as fears of extremist attacks remain high.

The additional security will focus on Christmas markets, shopping centres, religious buildings, public transport and tourist sites.

Citing "the context of a still-elevated terrorist threat," the Interior Ministry said in a statement that 97,000 security force personnel are mobilized for protection Sunday and Monday.

In addition to the Christmas security, the ministry said extra policing was ordered around religious sites during Hanukkah earlier this month, and for Orthodox Christmas in January, "to allow the celebration of these festivities in good conditions."

A new anti-terrorism law championed by President Emmanuel Macron’s government enshrines extra police powers as a result of multiple Islamic extremist attacks that killed more than 200 people in 2015-2016.

Africa's mounting debt crisis will worsen if US and Europe's economies improve, says IMF's Lagarde
[Quartz] Addis Ababa

Addis Ababa is home to the African Union, the UN’s Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), and is capital city for one of the continent’s fastest-growing economies. But for the duration of its 72-year history no managing director of the International Monetary Fund had ever paid visit to the Ethiopian capital. This changed on Dec. 13 when the fund’s current chief, Christine Lagarde, touched down for a three day visit, touring new industrial parks and meeting with government officials.
Christine Lagarde blames... 'the man.' Another Democrat, who knew ?
Lagarde met with Quartz to discuss some of the challenges facing the continent over the coming years‐including the looming threat of another African debt crisis, an alarm she first sounded back in 2014. In the past five years the continent has issued sovereign bonds to a value of $20 billion‐most of which will mature in the next few years.

Quartz: Let’s start with the "dark clouds" on the horizon that you made reference to in your speech, and specifically the debt burden. How worried are you about what some have called a ticking "debt bomb"?

FBI investigates Russian-linked Cyprus bank accused of money laundering
[Guardian] The FBI has asked officials in Cyprus for financial information about a defunct bank that was used by wealthy Russians with political connections and has been accused by the US government of money laundering, two sources have told the Guardian.
Someone is finally reading Peter Schweitzer? Could there be a connection ?
The request for information about FBME Bank comes as Cyprus has emerged as a key area of interest for Robert Mueller, the US special counsel who is investigating a possible conspiracy between Donald Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign and the Kremlin.

People familiar with the FBI request told the Guardian that federal investigators and the US Treasury approached the Central Bank of Cyprus in November seeking detailed information about FBME, which was shut down earlier this year.

One person familiar with the FBI request said it appeared to be connected to Mueller’s ongoing examination of Paul Manafort, the former Trump campaign manager who was indicted in October, and money that flowed between former Soviet states and the US through Cypriot banks.
Paul Manafort? Please keep digging.
The Central Bank of Cyprus, which in 2014 placed FBME under administration in a direct response to the US action and obtained full access to the bank’s data, declined to comment. The US special counsel’s office also declined to comment.

FBME has vigorously denied accusations that it has been a conduit for money laundering and other criminal activity.

The owners, the Lebanese brothers Ayoub-Farid Saab and Fadi Michel Saab, issued a statement following a series of recent critical articles about the bank and denied all wrongdoing.
Could explain the Lebanese Hezbollah piece as mentioned at #1.
Bloomberg reported last week that FBME was the subject of two US investigations: one into the bank’s credit card unit, and another into alleged laundering of money from Russia. Bloomberg said the Russia-related investigation, which is being led by the US attorney’s office in New York, was connected to a flow of illegal Russian funds into the New York real estate market.

FBME, previously known as the Federal Bank of the Middle East, was based in Tanzania but about 90% of its banking was conducted in Cyprus. A report by the US Treasury’s Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) in 2014 said the bank was an institution of "primary money laundering concern".
Thank you FinCEN, now please provide the FBI and former Director Mueller with the 'rest of the story.'
The report found that the bank was evading efforts by the Central Bank of Cyprus to supervise its activities, and that FBME was facilitating money laundering, terrorist financing, transnational organised crime, fraud, sanctions evasion, weapons trading, and political corruption.

Economy
Is a new 'Land Rush' underway in America ?
[MAIL] Towns in rural America are attempting to revitalize their increasingly anemic communities by incentivizing people to move out to the countryside.

Cash grants, student loan pay offs and free land giveaways are just some of the enticements smaller communities are offering to a younger generation of Americans looking to leave the big city, where in some places individuals can utilize up to $80,000 worth of incentives to relocate.

According to USA Today, rural America encompasses 75 per cent of the country, but only 16 per cent of its population, the lowest in the nation's history.

Numbers show that 54 per cent of the population in 1910 lived in rural communities, but dropped to just 19 per cent in 2010, according to a report by real estate website Zillow.

USA Today explains the phenomenon is a complicated mix of many factors, but essentially boils down to rural Americans facing fewer opportunities following technological advancement and the continued consolidation of the agricultural industry.

Academics have also argued that an increasingly globalized world where free trade and competition from emerging foreign markets have created a dearth of options for Americans living in the more bucolic regions of America.

'Meanwhile, the growth of steel, automobile and other industries, along with a college education, pulled young people into urban areas where they got married and had children. Most did not return to their rural roots,' William Frey, a demographer at the Brookings Institution, explained to USA Today.

Posted by: Glenmore || 12/24/2017 9:39 Comments || Top||

#7  Infrastructure, well they forget that problem. Then who will relocate?. The left thinking most likely. They will make many demands. The resources will not be there. Drug use and abuse will prevail. Many small towns don't have police coverage. I can think of one example in Pennsylvania. An officer is dispatched from Somerset Pennsylvania to Meyersdale Pa. The responding officer is required to write $300. ticket total to justify trip. Then to Hyndman Pa. I was told $700. dollars but I can't verify that amount. This town is a bit further away from Somerset. It would be far better to keep them in the city. City people have ideas that will be alien in a rural area. They will cling to what they believe in and as with a salad remain distinct and different.

#13  Where there's a will there's a way. Some tales from flyover country: (1) Elderly man in an outlying rural town gets chest pains during a blizzard. Needs to go to a hospital with advanced cardiology care 70 miles away. Highways & interstates, closed. Even choppers are grounded. No possibility of EMS transport. Local highway dept. gets its 3 snow plows in tandem & parallel, and they form a convoy leading the ambulance with the patient, which then clears the path all the way to Fargo & back. Man's life is saved. This would not even happen in more civilized parts of the midwest. (2) A closed USAF radar station outside of town had a fiberoptic comm line installed back in the 1980s or 1990s when it was still open. After base closure, its housing was relocated by trailer a few miles away into town. A local internet entrepreneur creates an ISP which benefits from the old USAF fiber optic line. Puts a high powered WiFi router on top of the grain elevator & provides very fast broadband to the entire (very small) town for a very low price, undercoating the wired ISP price of the local telephone monopoly by quite a bit. (3) One by one, unoccupied town homes are torn down after the elder owners die off, one by one, and are not replaced. Small ND town changes it zoning laws & allows vacant town lots to be converted into improved RV pads for use during the summer season by its elderly snowbird alumni who would at least like to live close to friends, while spending the worst of the winter in Arizona. The lots are immaculately maintained whether occupied or not. (In my unenlightened part of the midwest, I am prohibited by zoning laws from sleeping in my own tent in my own backyard). Another town tore down a home and is offering the improved town lot for just $100, located on the main state highway through town. Nice homes abut. No takers of this plot for years.
a dearth of options for Americans living in the more bucolic regions of America
This due more to a blinkered mindset and an attitude of "we've always done it this way" than anything else, and more in the urban regions than in the bucolic ones.

#16  With the reduction of the deduction for state sales taxes and state income taxes, the mass exodus from Californicate, Illionis, New York, and Connecticut will escalate.

The new land rush is people with jobs and disposable incomes relocating to states with little or no income taxes, low property taxes, and relatively low sales taxes.

Californicate in particular is looking at a mass migration of individuals with incomes over $50,000 and replacing them with gardeners, burger flippers, burglars, and thieves.

The Scandal That Must Not Be Named
[Townhall] "They’ve been burned. They’ve been hammered. They’ve been bludgeoned," George Washington University law professor Miriam Galston explains to the Washington Post. "They’re trying to survive."

In this heartbreaking discussion during this special time of year, the "they" are the poor, long-suffering folks . . . at the Internal Revenue Service.

It is a terrible, too-long-ignored scandal, which should tear at the heartstrings of every American.

"Years of conservative attacks on the Internal Revenue Service have greatly diminished the ability of agency regulators to oversee political activity by charities and other nonprofits . . ." posits the recently published Post analysis.

Apparently, it is all part of a scheme by "conservatives" to "scale back the IRS and shrink the federal government." They write as if that were a bad thing.

You see, the Post argues, conservatives "capitalized on revelations in 2013 that IRS officials focused inappropriately on tea party and other conservative groups based on their names and policy positions . . . Among conservatives, the episode has come to be known as the ’IRS targeting scandal.’"
Also on pro-Israel groups. It wasn’t just conservative groups, but anyone King Barry the First might disapprove of.
Did you get that? There was no scandal ‐ just an "episode."

Oh, sure "conservatives" call it a "scandal." But not the Post. Even though the IRS did indeed target Tea Party and conservative groups and frustrate, delay and thwart their most precious First Amendment rights to freedom of association and freedom of speech ‐ in some cases for many years.

Yet, the Post article does not seek to detail and decry this clear denial of constitutional rights, admitted to by the IRS. Instead, the paper zeroes-in on the "use" of this violation to mobilize a political check on the power ‐ and budget ‐ of the agency responsible: the Internal Revenue Service.

Bundy Mistrial Highlights Why the Right Distrusts the Feds
[Townhall] WASHINGTON -- As Washington conservatives question whether partisan FBI officials working for Special Counsel Robert Mueller have stacked the deck against President Donald Trump, a criminal case in Las Vegas points to the sort of federal prosecutorial abuses that give the right cause for paranoia.

On Wednesday, U.S. District Judge Gloria Navarro declared a mistrial in the infamous 2014 Bunkerville standoff case against rancher Cliven Bundy, his sons Ammon and Ryan, and co-defendant Ryan Payne, on the grounds that federal prosecutors improperly withheld evidence.

The standoff, in which both sides were armed, was a national news story that pitted a Western rancher against federal officialdom. Bureau of Land Management officials had tried to seize Bundy's cattle following a decades-long dispute over grazing fees. The rancher had stopped paying federal grazing fees in 1993 to protest a BLM directive that he cut back on cattle grazing in order to accommodate the threatened desert tortoise.

Tucker Carlson tastes Fauxcahontas' plagiarized crab omelet recipe (video)
[FOX - via LI] Among the many aspects of Elizabeth Warren’s Cherokee deception, perhaps the Pow Wow Chow cookbook stands out for its multi-layers of ridiculousness.

Elizabeth Warren is not Native American, much less Cherokee as she claimed.

Yet Warren submitted recipes to a 1984 cookbook called Pow Wow Chow identifying herself as Cherokee. The cookbook also had a recipe from her husband for Oriental Stir Fry, and he was identified as Cherokee (there’s no indication he actually is).

This would be ridiculous if it stopped there, but it didn’t.

It turned out that a number of the recipes were nearly identical to recipes published elsewhere previously. Boston Radio host Howie Carr discovered that three of Warren’s recipes appeared to be plagiarized:

Concord State Rep. Pleads Guilty To Assault Charge
[PATCH] A local Democrat and state representative pleaded guilty this morning to assaulting a political opponent during a state Senate ballot recount in November 2016. State Rep. Katherine Rogers, D-Concord, 61, pleaded guilty to the assault charge as part of a plea deal that would help her avoid jail time as well as a fine so long as she stays out of trouble during the next year and attends anger management classes during the next 90-days. Both Rogers and the victim ‐ Susan Olsen, a former state representative candidate from Warner and a well-known 2nd Amendment rights activist ‐ were in Concord District Court on Dec. 22, 2017, for the plea and sentencing.

Back on Nov. 16, 2016, during the recount for the District 7 state Senate seat held at the state archives building, Rogers put her arm around Olsen and then struck her with a semi-closed right hand on the side of the head.

In the complaint, Olsen stated that Rogers was challenging many of the ballots and requested that they be put closer to her so she could see them, according to evidence gathered during the investigation. At that time, Rogers put her hand on her shoulder, as if to hug her, stated that she wanted Olsen to be happy, and then struck her. Olsen warned Rogers that if she touched her again, she'd have her tossed in the calaboose
... anything you say can and will be used against you, whether you say it or not...
and stated that Rogers ‐ a former county attorney ‐ replied, according to an affidavit, "in a low, mocking, angry whisper," something to the effect of "Hit me. I know you want to. Go ahead. Hit me."

After the case was filed Rogers' attorney ‐ William Christie of Shaheen & Gordon ‐ told media outlets that the incident was a ploy and being played up for political purposes. Neither Christie nor Rogers returned requests for comment to Patch at the time. Olsen, however, countered that she waited until the end of the legislative session to file the charge in order for it to not be perceived as political. During the investigation by New Hampshire State Police, a witness came forward to corroborate Olsen's complaint after Patch and other outlets reported the charge.

Hundreds of Muslims said to attack Coptic church in Egypt
[IsraelTimes] Diocese says unlicensed house of worship near Cairo stormed, contents destroyed, worshippers assaulted; three maimed

Hundreds of Moslem demonstrators attacked an unlicensed church south of Cairo wounding three people, an Egyptian Coptic Christian diocese said on Saturday, in the latest assault on members of the country’s Christian minority.

The incident took place after Friday prayers when dozens of demonstrators gathered outside the building and stormed it. The demonstrators chanted hostile slogans and called for the church’s demolition, the diocese in Atfih said. The demonstrators destroyed the church’s contents and assaulted Christians inside before security personnel arrived and dispersed them.

The maimed were transferred to a nearby hospital, the diocese said after the attack, without elaborating.

A media coordinator at the diocese, the Rev. Yehnes Youssef, said later on Saturday that three Copts were maimed but have been treated.

The church in Giza just outside of Cairo is yet to be sanctioned by the state but has been holding prayers for 15 years. The diocese said it had officially sought to legalize the building’s status under a 2016 law that laid down the rules for building churches.

Local authorities often refuse to issue building permits for new churches, fearing protests by hardline Moslems. Christians sometimes build churches illegally or set up churches in other buildings.

Appeals court: Trump exceeded authority with travel ban
[Ynet] HONOLULU -- A federal appeals court panel has ruled that US President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
once again exceeded the scope of his authority with his latest travel ban, but the judges on the 9th US Circuit Court of Appeals put their decision on hold pending review by the US Supreme Court, meaning the ban involving six majority Moslem countries will remain in effect.
Some learning has occurred, however incomplete.
The 77-page ruling released late Friday says Trump's proclamation makes no finding whatsoever that simply being from one of the countries cited in the ban makes someone a security risk.

Hawaii, which is suing to stop the ban, has argued that it will be harmful because families will be separated and university recruitment will be hampered.

My reading of the law indicates this quibble has nothing whatsoever to do with the authority given to POTUS to ban certain nationalities from visiting or immigrating to this country. Sudanese judge clears activist accused of wearing ‘indecent’ clothes
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Sudanese activist Winnie Omar who was being tried for wearing "indecent clothes" was found innocent by a Khartoum court.

The judge presiding the session said evidence was not enough to convict Omar and he ordered her release.

Omar was being prosecuted under Article 152 of the Public Order Court Law which penalizes women if convicted of wearing "scandalous clothes." Penalties can include whipping and paying a fine.

Earlier this month, 24 girls were acquitted after they were charged of wearing shorts and short skirts at an all-female party which police raided.

Local and international human rights
...which are usually entirely different from personal liberty...
organizations have demanded cancelling or amending Article 152 because it is vague and it depends on the assessment of coppers or judges and hence paves way towards violating women’s right.

Noor vows to defy Ghani’s decision and continue to his work as Balkh governor
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] The Chief Executive of Jamiat-e-Isalami Ata Mohammad Noor has vowed to defy the recent decision by President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani and continue working as the provincial governor of the northern Balkh province.

Speaking during a gathering in northern Balkh province, Noor said none one can dismiss him as the governor of Balkh province by issuing a decree, insisting that the political party he is representing is one of the main sides which played a key role in the formation of the government of national unity.

He said the presidential elections in 2014 was one of the worst elections the country and was marred massively by fraud by it was the Jamiat-e-Islami which gave a legitimacy to the process.

According to Noor, he entered into negotiations with the government representing the strong stance of the Jamiat-e-Islami and not as an ordinary governor representing the Balkh province.

He said the Jamiat party is the main piller of the unity government and no one can sideline him as an ordinary government employee, emphasizing that he will continue to his work as the governor of the Balkh province in a bid to prevent the spread of the Taliban and ISIS in Balkh

In other parts of his speech, Noor harshly cricized the Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah and called him a ‘snake up in own sleeve’ and accused him of conspiring against the party which helped him reach to power.

This comes as the Office of the President announced Monday that President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani has approved the resignation of Balkh governor Ata Mohammad Noor.

The Office of the President in a statement said Mr. Noor had resigned from his position as the governor of Balkh province a while ago.

The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. militia.

The front man of the seventh military zone, Colonel Abdullah al-Shandaqi, said that the army forces managed to liberate the mountains of Dahshush, Jabal al-Tafaha, Tabat al-Qanaseen and Jabal al-Mashna.

In a statement, the army said that the fighting killed more than 28 Houthi militias and maimed dozens.

Earlier on Saturday, the Arab Coalition forces targeted an gang of Houthis in the Directorate of Arhab north of Sanaa, killing at least 25 Houthi button men and wounding dozens.

Colonel al-Shandaqi said that an Arab coalition aircraft launched several raids on Houthi militia checkpoints, where five Houthis were killed, as well as two vehicles and a number of heavy and medium caliber bullets that were destroyed.

He added that the fighting still continues in light of the retreat of the militia towards the capital Sanaa.

According to a field source, the liberation of Tabat al-Qanaseen on Saturday came after a five day siege.

He pointed out that the process of controlling the area came after great difficulties as the militia had planted thousands of mines and improvised bombs, which are controlled remotely.

Israel court releases Turks after Jerusalem ‘incident’
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] An Israeli court ordered the release from custody Saturday of three Ottoman Turkish tourists a day after they were tossed in the clink
Youse'll never take me alive coppers!... [BANG!]... Ow!... I quit!
over a confrontation with police at a Jerusalem holy site.

Police said the three were detained on Friday for being "involved in an incident in Jerusalem’s Old City after Friday prayers on the Temple Mount", the Jewish term for the al-Aqsa mosque compound.

They were arrested for attacking a police officer and resisting arrest.

But Jerusalem magistrates’ court ordered their release in a hearing late Saturday, denying a police request to extend their detention by four days, AFP news hounds said.

"The court rejected the police’s argument which is basically that they were liable to interfere with the police investigation, and also that they pose a threat to the general community," their lawyer Nick Kaufman told AFP after the hearing.

"It was obvious that this case was a politically charged case, and the judge released them."

A video circulating on social media shows a number of men wearing red shirts with the Ottoman Turkish flag scuffling with police in the Old City.

a large number of Syrian bully boyz belonging to the al-Qaeda linked Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham

According to the communique, the Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham bully boyz were arrested by the Lebanese Army during a raid near the Israeli border on Saturday; they would also confiscate a large quantity of weapons and ammunition that were stored in this area by the jihadists.

The Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham bully boyz use the Sheba’a Farms to navigate back and forth from Israel in order to carry out attacks against the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and their allies in the nearby Golan Heights.

This is also not the first time the Lebanese military has cracked down on these HTS sleeper cells in the disputed Sheba’a Farms, as their forces have made several prior arrests in this area in 2017.

Syrian Army scores new advance inside Beit Jinn near occupied Golan Heights
[ALMASDARNEWS] The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) scored a new advance inside the Beit Jinn pocket near the occupied Golan Heights on Saturay, capturing several areas from the jihadist rebels of Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham
.

Led by their elite 42nd Brigade of the 4th Mechanized Division, the Syrian Arab Army continued their advance from the recently captured Khirbat Herakl area, pushing to nearby al-Menbij and Halat.

According to a military report released tonight, the Syrian Arab Army and their allies have taken control of al-Menbeij and Halat after a short battle with the Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham gunnies inside this West Ghouta pocket.

Following the capture of these areas, the Syrian Army unleashed a flurry of surface-to-surface missiles on the jihadist-held hilltop of Tal Marwan.

The Syrian Army is expected to make another to capture Tal Marwan in the coming hours, as they continue to pressure the Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham gunnies at this hilltop.

Day 4: Melbourne car attacker charged with 18 counts of attempted murder
[IsraelTimes] An Afghan refugee accused of plowing his car into pedestrians in Melbourne was charged with 18 counts of attempted murder Saturday, as police vowed a boosted presence over the Christmas period.

Saeed Noori, who has a history of drug abuse and mental problems, allegedly drove his car through a busy downtown intersection on Thursday, careering into tourists and shoppers.

His motive is not clear, although police allege he made "utterances" to them about voices, dreams and the "poor treatment of Moslems" after his arrest.

No link to any terrorist group has been found.

"A 32-year-old man has been charged with 18 counts of attempted murder and one count of conduct endangering life," Victoria state police said in a statement, citing Thursday’s attack.

Broadcaster ABC said Noori did not apply for bail when he appeared in court on Saturday, putting his head in his hands and becoming emotional when he saw his mother weeping during the short hearing.

The magistrate ordered a psychiatric assessment and he is due to appear in court again on Wednesday, the broadcaster reported.

Of 19 people taken to hospital after the incident, 12 remain, with three in a critical condition.

[WARNING: WaPo] Facing Republican attacks, FBI's deputy director plans to retire early next year
Andrew McCabe, the FBI’s deputy director who has been the target of Republican critics for more than a year, plans to retire in a few months when he becomes fully eligible for pension benefits, according to people familiar with the matter.

McCabe spent hours in Congress this past week, facing questions behind closed doors from members of three committees. Republicans said they were dissatisfied with his answers; Democrats called it a partisan hounding.

McCabe, 49, holds a unique position in the political firestorm surrounding the FBI . He was former director James B. Comey’s right-hand man, a position that involved him in most of the FBI’s actions that vex President Trump and in the investigation of Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server while secretary of state, a matter that still riles Democrats.

McCabe won’t become eligible for his full pension until early March. People close to him say he plans to retire as soon as he hits that mark. "He’s got about 90 days, and some of that will be holiday time. He can make it,’’ one said.

My research indicates Mr. McCabe, if found guilty of a crime intersecting with his Government duties, would lose his pension.

That statement was made Thursday by David Esparon, the principal state counsel, in the Attorney General’s Office.

Esparon told SNA that the suspects will now face prosecution before the court after being charged with ’committing an act of piracy’ and ’attempting an act of piracy’ in the Indian Ocean.

The six Somali nationals were brought before Seychelles’ Supreme Court on December 11.

The Attorney General’s Office "has sufficient evidence to make up a strong case, but as the incident happened at sea it has some difficulties," added Esparon.

The six suspects from Somalia were apprehended by an Italian navy frigate, ITS Virginio Fasan, after they attacked a Seychelles-flagged 52,000-tonne container ship and a fishing vessel last week, the authorities said. The incident took place over a 24-hour period in November from Friday 18 to Saturday 19 in the Southern Somali Basin.

#2  Meatball sub? Wow I could go for one of those right now.

Made a rocking, easy pasta sauce the other day:
1 lb ground beef, brown, about 2/3 of the way done (drain here if you do such a thing) added in shredded parmesan, oregano, garlic. When browned, poured in jar of mushroom sauce and added two string cheeses worth of mozzarella, melted it into the sauce. Added thin sliced green olives, one of those little jars of Tomato Pesto, basil S&P to taste, served topped with shredded parmesan.

I would have used mastaccioli, family wanted spaghetti. Cook al-dente or a bit less (the sauce will cook the pasta a little more), toss in butter, olive oil, garlic salt.

When making both, done in 15 minutes.

Crooked Hillary Begs For Money Going Into Christmas Weekend
Most Americans are struggling financially after 8 years of Obama’s Socialist hell. Things are turning around, but the holidays are especially tough for families living paycheck to paycheck as they figure out how to fit a little Christmas shopping into their budgets.

Hillary is completely removed from the average struggling American being that she’s a government elitist who hasn’t worked a normal job in decades so she shamelessly begged for money going into the holiday weekend.

Hillary went on a tweetstorm pushing six radical, anti-American far left groups she financially backs.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
11 wounded in Christmas weekend shootings across Chicago
[CHICAGO.SUNTIMES] Eleven people have been maimed in shootings across reliably Democrat Chicago, aka The Windy City or Mobtown
... home of Al Capone, a succession of Daleys, Barak Obama, and Rahm Emmanuel,...
in the first 14 hours of the Christmas holiday weekend.

The most recent shooting happened about 12:50 p.m. Saturday on the Northwest Side. A 21-year-old man was sitting in his vehicle in the 4700 block of West Belmont when someone walked up and fired shots at him before running away, according to Chicago Police. The man was shot in the left thigh and was taken to Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where his condition was stabilized.

Less than three hours before that, a 15-year-old boy was shot in the Austin neighborhood on the West Side. He was shot in the leg at 10:27 a.m. in the 600 block of North Leamington, police said. He was taken to West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park and his condition was stabilized.

A man was maimed in another shooting about 6:15 a.m. in the South Side Englewood neighborhood. The 27-year-old man was shot in the temple in the 7000 block of South Carpenter, according to Chicago Police. The gunman, another male, left the scene after the shooting. The victim was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where his condition stabilized. Police said the incident appears to be domestic-related.

Listen up in your local ABC "blue state" coverage to see if the memo has been sent to the writers to make the weekly shooters score a little less transparent.

Al-Shabaab Deploys ‘Beautiful Women’ As Spies Against African Troops
[RADIOSHABELLE] Jihadists from one of the deadliest jihadist organizations in Africa, al-Shabaab
... the personification of Somali state failure...
, are deploying beautiful female spies against security forces combating the al-Qaeda affiliate in a Kenyan region that borders Somalia.

Although al-Shabaab is primarily based in Somalia, the terrorist group operates in various East African countries.

Local security officers speaking on condition of anonymity
... for fear of being murdered...
told the Star in Kenya, "The women seek sexual relationships with them with the aim of getting their secrets."

Jihadist groups are known for exploiting women, forcing them into becoming sex slaves, human shields, and jacket wallahs, among other things.

Joseph Kanyiri, a top local security official, indicated that al-Shabaab had employed a similar tactic in the past, using women as spies.

"Last year, we incarcerated
Drop the gat, Rocky, or you're a dead 'un!
two women in Kiunga, who were spying for the terror group," revealed Kanyiri.

According to the U.S. Department of State, there are "several thousand" jihadists fighting on behalf of al-Shabaab.

I wonder if it ever occurred to the ass-kissing prog officer who said this, that the contempt was well deserved for the morons that wanted to ditch the slogan as "elitist" and the crest as "non-inclusive"?

Fortunately some combat experienced officers have spoken up as well...

It has never been about them looking down at anyone in society, so any suggestion it is elitist is nonsense. The Army needs to be the best and to know that it is. Be the Best is popular because it encapsulates the desire for our troops to be better than their enemies. Credibility is secured by our abilities on the battlefield, our fighting spirit and our resources.

"And at a time when the defence budget is being squeezed, it is lunacy to squander money on a futile branding project."

Iraq
Iraqi military official: 13 Popular Mobilization brigades sent to Syrian border
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Iraqi Popular Mobilization Forces deployed 13 brigades to the Syrian border to support Iraqi border guard forces who were recently involved in a gunfire incident this past Tuesday, a military official said.

The gunfire attack came from within Syria. However,
nothing needs reforming like other people's bad habits...
the group that was involved is still unknown. Popular Mobilization Forces expect ISIS to be responsible for the attack, who may be starting guerrilla warfare after losing its urban strongholds earlier this year.

In a statement to the commander of the western Anbar axis, Qasim Musleh, the military official said, "after several Iraqi border checkpoints were attacked causing many guards to be injured by guided missiles and delayed support from the security forces, 13 Popular Mobilization brigades were sent and have started to target the sources of the rockets."

According to pro-opposition media, ISIS attacked Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham’s positions, tonight, at the southern slope of Tal Zaghbaq.

The pro-opposition media added that ISIS controlled the hill for several hours before Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham launched a counter-assault to recover all the territory they lost tonight.

in Syria, head of the Russian delegation to the talks on Syria in Astana, the Russian president’s envoy on the Syrian settlement Alexander Lavrentyev told TASS on Saturday.

"We have a positive experience in joint work fighting the IS (terrorist organization outlawed in Russia)," the diplomat said.

"I hope for similar work in fighting other terrorist organizations, including Jabhat al-Nusra (outlawed in Russia)".

At the same time, he continued, certain actions of the U.S. Administration depend and related to the situation in that country.

"We want to see our American counterparts in a boat together with us, so that we would sail in a correct direction," he said. "It is a different thing that the current situation may be not that favorable. This comes from various inner problems in the U.S."

"We support contacts, we are working with the U.S. counterparts, and we hope common sense will prevail and we shall be moving together," the diplomat said. "When together, we can achieve much more".

Alexander Lavrentyev told, that Russian military observers may return to the Idlib de-escalation zone in Syria, if the situation develops favorably.

"It is a complicated issue for now, it is being considered," he said. "In case of respective conditions, our observers may return."

"I cannot say anything about the time, everything depends on the situation," he added.

On September 20, Russia’s Defense Ministry reported a platoon of 29 military police was blocked and for a few hours was fighting the Jabhat al-Nusra (terrorist organization, outlawed in Russia) snuffies in Idlib. Command of the Russian grouping in Syria formed up a group to unblock the police.

Woman accuses United of giving her seat to Houston's Sheila Jackson Lee
A passenger on a flight from Houston to Washington D.C. has accused United Airlines of giving her first-class seat to U.S. Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee. D-Houston, and then threatening to remove her from the plane for complaining and snapping a photo of the Houston congresswoman.

"It was just so completely humiliating," said Jean-Marie Simon, a 63-year-old attorney and private school teacher who used 140,000 miles on Dec. 3 to purchase the first-class tickets to take her from Washington D.C. to Guatemala and back home.

When it came time to board the last leg of her flight home from George Bush Intercontinental Airport on Dec. 18, after a roughly hour-long weather delay, Simon said the gate attendant scanned her paper ticket and told her it was not in the system.

Did you cancel your flight?, the attendant asked.

"No," she said she replied. "I just want to go home."

Her seat, 1A, was taken, she was told. Simon was given a $500 voucher and reseated in row 11, Economy Plus.

Simon later learned that Jackson Lee was in her pre-purchased seat and has alleged that the congresswoman received preferential treatment, which United denies.

"After thoroughly examining our electronic records, we found that upon receiving a notification that Flight 788 was delayed due to weather, the customer appears to have canceled her flight from Houston to Washington, D.C. within the United mobile app," United said in a statement. "As part of the normal pre-boarding process, gate agents began clearing standby and upgrade customers, including the first customer on the waitlist for an upgrade."

Simon denies that she cancelled her ticket. She sent a reporter a screenshot of the United website showing only one "inactive" reservation ‐ a flight to Houston in August to visit her daughter that she had to cancel because of Hurricane Harvey.

A United official said screenshot doesn't show the December flight as cancelled because she ultimately took the flight.

The official provided another screenshot of United's internal software system and said that it showed the flight had been cancelled on a mobile app, though a reporter was unable to independently verify that on Saturday because of the system's coding.

Jackson Lee issued a statement on Saturday afternoon saying: "I asked for nothing exceptional or out of the ordinary and received nothing exceptional or out of the ordinary."

Simon said she saw Jackson Lee board the plane with a flight attendant before all of the other passengers, but did not know who she was until another passenger told her after they were seated.

A mechanical problem with the plane delayed take-off and after about 50 minutes, she said, passengers were invited to consult with a gate agent about alternative flights.

Simon said she went to the front and snapped a photo of Jackson Lee and told a flight attendant that she knew why she'd been bumped.

In her statement, Jackson Lee said she overheard Simon speaking with an African-American flight attendant and saw her snap the photo.

"Since this was not any fault of mine, the way the individual continued to act appeared to be, upon reflection, because I was an African American woman, seemingly an easy target along with the African American flight attendant who was very, very nice," Jackson Lee said in the statement. "This saddens me, especially at this time of year given all of the things we have to work on to help people. But in the spirit of this season and out of the sincerity of my heart, if it is perceived that I had anything to do with this, I am kind enough to simply say sorry."

Simon said Jackson Lee's statement accused her of racism, adding: "I had no idea who was in my seat when I complained at the gate that my seat had been given to someone else," she said. "There is no way you can see who is in a seat from inside the terminal."

About five minutes after Simon took the photo on the plane, Simon said, another flight attendant sat next her and asked if she "was going to be a problem."

Simon said she replied that she just wanted to go home.

She said the plane took off at 12:50 p.m. and she arrived home that night, still upset. Simon wrote a letter to airline's CEO and posted it on Facebook and Twitter. A "resolution manager" called her Saturday morning and apologized at least a half-dozen times, she said.

She said she wants a formal, written apology from United.

"It's just impossible to suspend disbelief and swallow that story that I cancelled my flight," Simon said.

United has suffered a string of customer relations gaffes this year.

In June, a woman said she was forced to give up her 2-year-old's $969 seat on a flight from Houston to Boston and hold him for roughly three hours because the airline sold the seat.

In April, Dr. David Dao was forcibly removed from a United Express flight in Chicago to make space for crew members headed to Louisville, Ky.

The airline announced policy changes after that incident and its CEO, Oscar Munoz, has promised a "culture shift toward becoming a better, more customer-focused airline."

That doesn't sound like United (Breaks Guitars). They MIGHT have gotten away with saying they 'screwed up and booked the seat twice, so sorry' which is quite plausible except for the Lee angle.

Three Indian soldiers killed in Kashmir border firing
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Three Indian soldiers were killed in Kashmire along the unofficial border with Pakistain Saturday, Indian police said, in the latest skirmish between the bitter rivals in the disputed Himalayan territory.

The soldiers were killed in the Rajouri sector of Indian-administered Kashmire after Pak troops started firing across the border, said Shesh Paul Vaid, the director general of police in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmire.

"Initial reports say three soldiers were killed during (a) BAT operation," Vaid told AFP, referring to the "Border Action Teams" that Indian officials say are made up of Pak troops and gunnies and carry out cross-border attacks.

Vaid added that an officer was among the dead, and another soldier was injured.

There was no immediate response from Pak authorities to the incident.

New Delhi and Islamabad regularly accuse each other of firing across the heavily-militarized de facto border in Kashmire, called the Line of Control.

Kashmire has been divided between the Pakistain and India since the end of British colonial rule over the subcontinent in 1947. Both sides claim the territory in full.

Rep. Gaetz: Email Evidence From McCabe Indicates that Hillary Clinton Was Going to Get an 'HQ Special'
A Republican congressman on the House Judiciary Committee says Hillary Clinton received special treatment during the email investigation in 2016 while she was running for president.

"We have email evidence from Andrew McCabe indicating that Hillary Clinton was going to get an 'HQ Special,' a headquarters special," Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) alleged on Fox News' "America's Newsroom" Friday.

FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe met with both the House Oversight and Judiciary Committees in closed-door hearings on Thursday.

"The Judiciary Committee is engaged in an investigation, particularly as it relates to the handling of the Hillary Clinton email scandal and any potential investigations of the Clinton Foundation and the handling of bribes or other types of improper payments," Gaetz said.

He explained that the "headquarter special" was an indication that "the normal processes at the Washington field office weren't followed and he had a very small group of people that had a pro-Hillary Clinton bias who had a direct role in changing the outcome of that investigation from one that likely should have been criminal to one where she was able to walk."

Continues.

International-UN-NGOs
America’s arrogance at the UN
[DAWN] A CLEAR majority of the global community ‐ in fact, over half of the UN’s members ‐ voted overwhelmingly on Thursday to reject the unilateral US move to recognise Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.

A General Assembly resolution, spearheaded by Egypt and co-sponsored by Pakistain, termed any attempts to alter the status of Jerusalem as "null and void" while calling on all states "to refrain from the establishment of diplomatic missions in the Holy City. ..."

A breakdown of the voting reflects some interesting facts. The 128 countries who favoured the resolution include Moslem states as well as the wider community of the Global South, along with most EU member states. Amongst the nine who voted against it, apart from the US and Israel, are tiny island nations and a couple of Central American states. Many other states abstained.

The tone of the US ‐ both of its president and UN ambassador ‐ before and after the vote was antagonistic and intimidating. The US threatened to cut off funding to the UN, while before the vote Mr Trump told the global community that he would be "watching those votes", adding that any country that resisted US diktat would see aid money dry up.

True, there have been many rabble-rousers on the world stage, but rarely in recent history has the leader of one of the world’s major powers issued such naked threats publicly.

While the US has a right to fashion its own foreign policy ‐ even if in the case of Jerusalem such policies fly in the face of international law and globally acknowledged facts ‐ there are ways to make one’s point, especially at a forum as august as the UN. Such blatant threats do not behove states that swear to respect democracy and the global order.

Police: Man arrested for fake bomb threat at Chicago airport
[Ynet] A 34-year-old Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party, man has been charged after authorities say he told an airline employee at reliably Democrat Chicago, aka The Windy City or Mobtown
... home of Al Capone, a succession of Daleys, Barak Obama, and Rahm Emmanuel,...
's O'Hare International Airport there was a bomb in his carry-on bag.

The Chicago Sun-Times reports that police found no bomb and charged Otis Evans of San Diego with felony disorderly conduct.

Evans was escorted from the plane about 1pm Friday. Chicago police said in a statement that the incident caused a "large law enforcement and fire personnel response which resulted in evacuations and delayed flights."

A police front man said the area was searched and found to be safe.
Update from the Chicago Patch at 9:55 a.m. ET:
Bail Denied After O'Hare Airport Bomb Threat

A Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party, man who argued with a woman over a cellphone charging station Friday afternoon found himself in police custody, accused of making a bomb threat that brought the police bomb and arson squad to Gate H at the O'Hare International Airport.

The suspected threat shut down Terminal 3, forced evacuations and cancelled several flights on the busiest travel day of the year. The passenger, Otis Evans, 34, of San Diego, was charged with felony disorderly conduct, according to police. He appeared in court Saturday.

Evans was waiting to board an American Airlines flight back to Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party, after visiting with family in the reliably Democrat Chicago, aka The Windy City or Mobtown area when the altercation with a fellow traveler began at about 1 p.m. Friday. An American Airlines employee overheard Evans mention a bomb and alerted authorities, according to police.

Police and prosecutors allege he told the woman: "I just want you to know something ‐ I have a bomb in my bag," according to a Chicago Tribune account of his court hearing.

After his arrest, Evans told police, "The lady misheard me."

A Cook County judge denied bail and told Evans his comments were "stupid."

Ellison Wants Probe Of Abuse Claims From Somali Deportation Flight
[RADIOSHABELLE] U.S. Rep. Keith Ellison on Thursday called for investigations into reports that federal immigration agents have mistreated 92 Somalis who were shackled for 2 days on a botched deportation flight.

Ellison, a Democrat who represents Minnesota’s 5th District, home to a large Somali-American community, said constituents contacted him "to express grave concern about alleged human rights
When they're defined by the state or an NGO they don't mean much...
abuses of 92 Somali nationals while in the custody of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement in transit through Dakar, Senegal
... a nation of about 14 million on the west coast of Africa bordering Mauretania to the north, Mali to the east, and a pair of Guineas to the south, one of them Bissau. It is 90 percent Mohammedan and has more than 80 political parties. Its primary purpose seems to be absorbing refugees...
" from Dec. 7 to Dec. 9.

The flight left around 3 a.m. on Dec. 7 from Louisiana, but the detainees never made it to Somalia. They were returned to Miami around midnight on Dec. 8.

Some of those on the flight said in a lawsuit that agents physically and verbally abused them during the flight, which lasted for 40 hours, including 23 hours when the flight was on the ground at an airport in Dakar.

As the plane sat on the runway, the 92 detainees remained bound, their handcuffs secured to their waists, and their feet shackled together for 48 hours, according to the lawsuit.

Seven men who filed the lawsuit on behalf of their fellow Somali detainees, who are now in detention centers in Florida, allege that when the plane’s toilets overfilled with human waste, they were left to urinate into bottles or on themselves. They say agents allegedly restrained them, kicked them and dragged them down the aisle.

Calling the abuse reports "profoundly disturbing," Ellison said he’s pressing the agency to explain:

• Why the plane returned to the U.S.

• "Why were individuals with medical needs not allowed accommodations for their health, such as the detainee with diabetes who was not given access to his medication?"

• "What disciplinary actions will be taken against the ICE officers who struck and choked detainees or otherwise used excessive force during the tarmac delay, given that all detainees were wearing restraints and could not pose a threat to the officers?"

The immigration enforcement agency says the abuse allegations are untrue and that no one was injured during the flight. Those being deported on the charter removal flights were restrained for the safety of those on board, the agency added, noting that 61 of the 92 detainees on the flight had criminal convictions, including homicide, rape, and aggravated assault.

Harrisburg gunman has ties to Middle East
More on this report from yesterday.
[FOX43] Authorities are asking the public for any information they may have on Ahmed Amin El-Mofty to come forward.

El-Mofty opened fire in Harrisburg on Friday evening in three separate shootings, before being killed in a shoot out with State Police.

One state Trooper was injured, but she is expected to be okay.

Previously Reported:

Police have killed the suspect in a series of three shootings that occurred throughout downtown Harrisburg and Allison Hill on Friday afternoon.

Police identified the suspect late Friday as 51-year-old Ahmed Amin El-Mofty. According to Dauphin County District Attorney Ed Marsico, El-Mofty had ties to Harrisburg and Cumberland County and recently took a trip to the Middle East.

Around 4 p.m. on Friday, in the area of 3rd and State Streets, multiple shots were fired at an occupied Capitol Police car. The window of the car was broken, and the officer inside was not harmed.

About twenty minutes later, El-Mofty opened fire on a Pennsylvania State Police vehicle. A female trooper was wounded, but is expected to be okay, according to Dauphin County District Attorney Ed Marsico.

Around 6 p.m. Friday evening, police found El-Mofty near 17th and Mulberry on Allison Hill. After an exchange of gunfire between the police and the suspect, the suspect was killed.

The Bomb Disposal Squad was then called in, because there was a suspicious object found near the suspect, which was determined to be inert and later removed.

These shootings are being handled as a joint investigation between the FBI, PSP, the Dauphin County DA’s office, and Harrisburg Police.

The motive is still under investigation.
Update from CNN at 9:40 a.m. ET:
Tyler Houlton, acting DHS press secretary, referred to the incident as a terror attack in a statement released Saturday. He said the incident highlights the "Trump administration's concerns with extended family chain migration."

El-Mofty was a naturalized US citizen who came to the country on a "family-based immigrant visa," Houlton said.

"Both chain migration and the diversity visa lottery program have been exploited by Death Eaters to attack our country," Houlton said, adding that "the programs make it more difficult to keep dangerous people out of the United States and to protect the safety of every American."

Local authorities have not confirmed whether they consider the incident as a terror attack.

Macron in Niger Says Sahel Jihadist Fight to Continue in 2018
[AnNahar] President Emmanuel Macron arrived in Niger late Friday for a morale-boosting visit to La Belle France's Barkhane anti-jihadist force and told troops the fight against Death Eaters in the region would continue in 2018.

Former colonial power La Belle France has been leading regional counterterrorism efforts in West Africa's Sahel region
... North Africa's answer to the Pak tribal areas...
, but is keen to spread the burden as its military is engaged on various fronts.

Macron was welcomed by his Niger counterpart Mahamadou Issoufou.

The French leader then had a "Christmas dinner" with some members of the 4,000-strong Barkhane force. The meal was prepared by a chef from the Elysee.

"I am proud of you, La Belle France is proud of you ... La Belle France mourns its dead, takes care of its injured (and) is proud of its children who are fighting to protect it," he said.

With 500 men, Mirage 2000 fighter jets and drones, the French base in the Niger capital Niamey is the air hub for the Barkhane force.

Macron said the Barkhane mission would continue in 2018 with the "aim of winning clear and important victories against the enemy".

"I trust you," to carry out the mission in the Sahel, which "is a priority" because "this is where our security, the future of part of the African continent is played out," he said.

"We must not leave the Sahel to terrorist organizations ... (we must not) give up the slightest bit of territory to them," said Macron, who was accompanied by Defence Minister Florence Parly.

The Barkhane mission had stopped jihadist groups in various areas and they were "no longer capable of undermining a state", he said.

The mission would however continue against scattered groups of jihadists, the president added.

Marcon was due to discuss the issue Saturday with President Issoufou.

He would also announce "concrete" development projects, especially for educating girls, according to the presidential palace.

"The root of the problem is not terrorism, it's underdevelopment, trafficking and the impact of population growth -- that's what we need to solve," said Colonel Regis Colcombel, deputy commander of Barkhane.

Denmark halts aid to Palestinian NGO over terror ties
[Ynet] Danish Foreign Ministry decides to stop funding for 14 Paleostinian organizations in the wake of an internal investigation that found these groups used the money to promote terrorism and the boycott against Israel.

Denmark's Foreign Ministry announced on Friday that it was halting financial aid to several Paleostinian NGOs over ties with terror groups.

In addition, Copenhagen set stricter conditions for Paleostinian NGOs' eligibility for aid in the future to ensure the money is used for the right purposes, rather than go to terror groups or the BDS Movement.

The decision was made in the wake of an internal investigation in the Danish Foreign Ministry ordered by Foreign Minister Anders Samuelsen at the urging of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Strategic Affairs Minister Gilad Erdan.

Starting 2018, aid will be provided to only 10 Paleostinian NGOs instead of 24.

The Danish Foreign Ministry said it will "continue to support civil society organizations focusing on the human rights
...which are usually open to widely divergent definitions...
situation in Paleostine, which is a priority under the Danish foreign policy," but starting next year, "the funds will be transferred under new and stricter conditions. Donor cooperation will end at the end of the year, and the remaining Danish funds from 2017 will be used for expenses related to the administrative completion of the program."

The Danish investigation into the matter was launched after the Paleostinian Women's Affairs Technical Committee (WATC), which enjoyed Danish aid money, opened a center for women last June named after the terrorist Dalal Mughrabi, who murdered dozens of Israelis in the 1978 Coastal Road massacre.

WATC received half a million dollars through the Ramallah-based Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law Secretariat, a donor program sponsored by Denmark, the Netherlands, Sweden and Switzerland
...home of the Helvetians, famous for cheese, watches, yodeling, and William Tell...
According to Israel's Strategic Affairs Ministry, the Secretariat funds many Paleostinian organizations that promote the de-legitimization of Israel as well as boycotts against it. Some of these NGOs, such as al-Haq and Addameer, also have ties to the terror organization Popular Front for the Liberation of Paleostine (PFLP).

Minister Erdan praised the Danish Foreign Ministry's decision, calling it "a significant achievement for Israel in its resolute struggle against the boycott organizations, which suffered a severe blow today."

"It cannot be that European countries continue funding Paleostinian organizations working to promote boycott and present a distorted image of Israel, and more gravely - having ties with terror elements," he said.

"I'm glad Denmark has realized the Danish tax payer does not wish to fund - directly or indirectly - Paleostinian organizations with ties to terrorism. I call on other nations on the European continent to take the same measure of moral responsibility and take similar steps," Erdan added.
The Times of Israel adds:
Danish Foreign Minister Anders Samuelsen said that, following an investigation, most of the earmarked funds will be returned to Danish government coffers.

APPARENTLY, Donald Trump is making good on his campaign promise to withhold funding from sanctuary cities
[BARENAKEDISLAM] APPARENTLY, Donald Trump is making good on his campaign promise to withhold funding from sanctuary cities

The Los Angeles Police Department has been denied $3 million in federal aid for law enforcement. While there is no official announcement as to why, it is more than likely that it has everything to do with LA’s "sanctuary city" status for harboring illegal aliens. Donald Trump and Attorney General Jeff Sessions have repeatedly said they would strip funding from such sanctuary cities. Now they are.

The L.A. Times reports: This year, L.A. officials applied for more than $3 million in federal funding to help bring the same program to Harvard Park, a South L.A. neighborhood scarred by violence.

The request was denied.

The U.S. Department of Justice hasn’t offered the LAPD an explanation of why the department didn’t receive any of the $98 million in grants recently awarded to scores of law enforcement agencies across the nation. A spokesman for the federal agency declined to comment when asked by The Times last week.

But after the Trump administration’s repeated threats to withhold federal money from cities that don’t cooperate with its immigration crackdown, some LAPD officials said they believe the move was retaliatory ‐ and a troubling sign of what could come.

Steve Soboroff, president of the civilian Police Commission that oversees the LAPD, said that he believes the Justice Department denied the funding request because of the LAPD’s well-publicized, hands-off approach to immigration enforcement. Soboroff said he worries future funding may also be at risk.
