Chelsea terrorist bomber Rahimi tried to radicalize inmates, prosecutors say
(CNN)The man convicted in the 2016 bombing in New York's Chelsea neighborhood that injured 30 people has been trying to radicalize other inmates, federal prosecutors say.

Ahmad Khan Rahimi
...the naturalized Afghan known wolf (another who came as a result of chain migration, after his father received asylum) who didn’t get to die a martyr in a hail of bullets as planned after planting bombs in Manhattan and New Jersey. He was inspired by ISIS and Al Qaeda, and trained in a Taliban feeder madrassa in Pakistan. After his second stay there, his father reported him to the FBI, who were not impressed. In the early days of the investigation his name was given as Ahmad Khan Rahami and Ahmad Khan Rahmani...
also told a judge he is on a hunger strike.

Rahimi provided inmates with copies of terrorist propaganda and jihadist materials, including speeches by Osama Bin Laden and the late militant cleric Anwar al-Awlaki, bomb making instructions, books on jihad and issues of the al Qaeda-backed magazine Inspire, prosecutors said.

Rahimi "has been attempting to radicalize fellow inmates in the Metropolitan Correction Center by, among other things, distributing propaganda and publications issued by terrorist organizations," according to a letter from Acting US Attorney Joon H. Kim to US District Judge Richard Berman.

New Illinois Abortion Law Fires Up Pro-Lifers, Inspires Challenge to GOP Governor
[PJ] Dawn Fitzpatrick, president of the March for Life Chicago board of directors, told PJM the pro-life movement in Illinois had some setbacks in 2017 ‐ most recently, the passage of House Bill 40, which is expected to result in tens of thousands more taxpayer-subsidized abortions.

"It was just devastating," Fitzpatrick said. "Of course, we are all very upset about that."

Still, Fitzpatrick described her mood and that of other pro-life advocates as "hopeful" as they prepare for the 2018 March for Life Chicago on Jan. 14. The annual event is expected to draw more than 6,000 people, Fitzpatrick said, which would make it the most massive pro-life rally in the Midwest.

"I think that we will have more people than ever because of (HB 40)," she said, "as we stand in the public square and band together to show we love life and are not afraid to stand up for that."

The Chicago Sun-Times reported that House Bill 40 makes sure that abortions remain legal and available in Illinois even if the U.S. Supreme Court should overturn Roe v. Wade. The legislation also lets women covered by Medicaid or state-employee insurance to use their coverage to pay for abortions.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
House Intelligence chairman Devin Nunes working on 'corruption' report in FBI
[The Hill] House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) is talking with other Republicans about writing a report next year alleging "corruption" at the FBI, according to The Washington Post.

Citing people familiar with the plan, the Post reports that the Nunes project would focus on information about the conduct of FBI officials in the course of the investigation into Russia’s meddling in last year’s election.

President Trump and his allies in Congress have stepped up their attacks on the FBI as a former leader of the bureau, Robert Mueller, continues his special counsel investigation of last year’s election.

Mueller in December brought charges against Trump’s former national security adviser Michael Flynn, who is now talking to investigators.
Trump’s latest attacks on the FBI came on the morning of Christmas Eve, when he ripped into Deputy Director Andrew McCabe over reports that he is to retire soon.

McCabe has been a top target of Trump’s because he worked under former FBI Director James Comey, who Trump fired in May. Trump, along with Nunes and other Capitol Hill Republicans such as Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Charles Grassley (R-Iowa), suggest the FBI was not aggressive enough in its investigation of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server.

McCabe’s wife, a candidate for Virginia’s state Senate at the time, also accepted campaign donations from a political action committee tied to Hillary and Bill Clinton. This has led some Republicans, led by Trump, to ask if he is biased.

Democrats have noted that Comey essentially re-opened his investigation of Clinton a little more than a week before Election Day 2016, before closing it again days before the election. Clinton believes this effectively cost her the campaign.

Nunes has also come under fire for partisanship from Democrats.

Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), the ranking member on Intelligence, accused him of doing the bidding of the White House with his repeated criticism of the FBI.

"And here I think, again, we are seeing some on our committee, including the chair, doing the work of the White House, doing the work of Steve Bannon," Schiff said in an interview on MSNBC on Thursday.

Bannon is Trumps former chief strategist.

Senator Jeff Flake won't rule out 2020 run against Trump
Please do. You were gonna lose your safe seat in a Red State. Loser Asshole
Retiring Arizona Sen. Jeff Flake on Sunday wouldn't rule out a 2020 run against President Trump, saying the commander-in-chief is "inviting" a challenger with his politics of division and narrow appeal to a diminishing base of older, white men.

"I don't rule anything out, but it's not in my plans," Flake, a Republican, told ABC's "This Week."
"But I wanna see my fave in the paper and will continue to bash Republicans and Conservatives"
"But I do believe if the president is running for reelection, if he continues on the path that he's on, that that's going to leave a huge swath of voters looking for something else."

Flake said he expects Trump could have challengers from multiple sides: Democrat, independent and even from his own Republican Party.

"I think he's inviting that," Flake said.

#5  Good Senator,

The best way to campaign is to spend lots and lots of money, take a second and third and fourth mortgage, take out massive loans, accept tons of money from George Soros. Spend the money like there's no tomorrow. It's the only chance you have. In fact, if you send me large amounts of money in small, unmarked non-sequential bills, I will have certain associates be certain to give you consideration. (I really need some new guns and LOTS of ammo)

I look forward to receiving your 'assistance' in this matter Senator. Do it for the children!

Green Beret Training Standards Now Lower than Army ROTC Camp in the 80's
h/t Instapundit
It was only a matter of time...

Since 2015, no woman has successfully made it through SFQC, or the Special Forces Qualification Course since Ash Carter, with a stroke of a pen, created the single greatest disaster in US military history, the authorization for women to serve in the combat arms and special operations units.

But, that is about to change...

#5  Gad, I can remember ROTC summer camp at Ft. Sill. My company was full of jocks. A couple of OL from OU, about three DBs from Okie State, a bunch of real studs from Southern University and some complete animals from D-2 school in Arkansas.

When it came to the mile run, it was a complete laugher. We had this kid from Southern run it in 5:10 in combat boots. I ran it in 5:30, and we had guys doing 3 and 500 sit-ups, not to mention pull ups one handed and push ups tell jokes.

The cadre was just completely nuts over this. They were talking about how tough the physical fitness test was and we were laughing all the way to the mess hall. We made a shambles of the testing metrics.

Then a bunch of the same guys went to Ranger School and had to gut out some really tough training. The Ranger cadre at Harmony Church were a bunch of sadistic maniacs.

Too bad our leaders who never served in combat didn't understand the physical demands of combat and long range patrolling.

I hope Mattis gets his game on here really soon before the damage metastasizes.

#7  Was at Christmas dinner today with a colleague of Mr. Wife’s. The discussion was about the gentleman’s daughter, who next year will be applying to all the service academies and several universities with ROTC programs — she wants to serve as a doctor, and will go with whichever service accepts her, though she thinks she would prefer the Air Force if given a choice, Nonetheless, putting on America's uniform is more important to her than which version she ends up wearing.

The kids want to make the grade, if only it isn’t actively prevented.

China-Japan-Koreas
1st Cavalry Training For Tunnel Warfare Re: North Korea
[PopularMechanics] Units of the U.S. Army are training to map out, and if necessary fight in, North Korea’s underground complexes. Soldiers from the Army’s 1st Cavalry Division are training in underground tunnels to prepare for the mission of securing North Korean tunnels in the event of war. North Korea is estimated to have thousands of tunnels and underground facilities that would shelter the regime leadership and possibly chemical and nuclear weapons, in the event of war with the United States and South Korea.

During the four day exercise described by Stars and Stripes, dubbed Warrior Strike IX, troops from the 1st Battalion, 5th Cavalry regiment, 1st Cavalry Division practiced breaching and entering tunnel complexes at the U.S. Army’s Camp Stanley in South Korea. The soldiers conducted the exercise wearing chemical protective suits and night vision goggles to see in the dark.

North Korea is estimated to have between 6,000 and 8,000 underground facilities. Meant to preserve the country’s leadership and armed forces from air attack, the facilities are also thought to store stockpiles of chemical weapons. In 2012, South Korea estimated the North had between 2,500 and 5,000 metric tons of chemical arms, including mustard gas, hydrogen cyanide, and highly lethal nerve agents including sarin, soman, and VX. In 2017, North Korean agents assassinated leader Kim Jong-un’s half brother in Malaysia with a lethal dose of VX, making it seem even more likely the country might use such weapons in wartime.

Stars and Stripes, reporting on the exercise, says the soldiers negotiated a half-mile long horseshoe-shaped tunnel equipped with the Mobile Ad Hoc Networking Unit system, or MPU5. Described by the manufacturer as the "World’s First Smart Radio," it creates a peer-to-peer wireless relay network capable of relaying signals from deep underground to the surface. MPU5 is based on the Android OS and can handle voice, data, and video. The device was also linked to trackers attached to soldiers’ boots, like horseback riding spurs, allowing the Army to keep track of troops underground.

In the event of war on the Korean peninsula South Korean soldiers will do the bulk of the fighting, both above and underground. Still U.S. forces would likley do a considerable amount themselves, and must be ready to fight and communicate hundreds of feet underground in the dark. In the meantime, U.S. troops must train for every contingency .

President Trump secures $285M cut in UN budget
[The Hill] The U.S. Mission to the United Nations announced Sunday that it negotiated a major reduction in the U.N.’s budget for the upcoming fiscal years.

According to a statement from the mission, the 2018-2019 U.N. budget will have a $285 million reduction from the previous two years.

"In addition to these significant cost savings, we reduced the UN’s bloated management and support functions, bolstered support for key U.S. priorities throughout the world, and instilled more discipline and accountability throughout the UN system," the statement reads.

One of the Trump administration’s goals has been to reduce the amount of contributions that the U.S. makes to the U.N. The U.S. currently provides for about 22 percent of the annual budget, or about $3.3 billion per year, according to PolitiFact.

The U.N. General Assembly previously approved a $5.4 billion operating budget for 2016 and 2017. The regular budget is separate from the body's budget for its sprawling peacekeeping operations, which totaled $7.8 billion for 2017 alone.

South Sudan: Army and rebels allege truce breaches
[Al Jazeera] South Sudan's army and anti-government rebels have both accused one another of violating a ceasefire just hours after it came into effect.

The peace agreement, in place since 00:01 local time on Sunday, was brokered earlier this week after days of internationally mediated talks in neighbouring Æthiopia to allow for humanitarian aid to get to civilians caught up in the fighting.

It marked the latest attempt to end a devastating civil war that began in 2013 when forces loyal to President Salva Kiir started fighting those allied to his former deputy, Riek Machar.

However,
today is that tomorrow you were thinking about yesterday...
a front man for Machar's SPLA-IO group said in a statement on Sunday that rebel bases in the north of the country had come under "the most aggressive attack" earlier in the day.

Lam Paul Gabriel said the group's fighters had "repulsed" an attack by government troops in northern Koch County.

He added that SPLA-IO positions in southwestern Yei County were being bombarded and accused the military of sending in soldiers to attack rebel bases in the western Wau region.

US judge: American caught fighting for IS must be given lawyer
[IsraelTimes] A federal judge rules that the US military must provide legal counsel to an American citizen who was picked up months ago on the Syrian battlefield and accused of fighting with Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
The unidentified American, who has not been charged, surrendered to US-backed fighters in Syria around September 12 and is currently being held in Iraq as an unlawful enemy combatant.

The American Civil Liberties Union filed a court petition challenging his detention and asking to act on his behalf to provide him access to legal counsel.

Late last month, the US government acknowledged that it has detained an American citizen accused of fighting with IS for months without fulfilling his request to see a lawyer.

In her ruling, US District Judge Tanya Chutkan denies the Defense Department’s motion to dismiss the matter and ordered the military to let the ACLU "immediate and unmonitored access to the detainee" so that it can determine whether he wants the ACLU to represent him. The judge also orders the Defense Department not to transfer the detainee until the ACLU tells the court of the detainee’s wishes.

"This is a landmark ruling that rejects the Trump administration’s unprecedented attempt to block an American citizen from challenging his executive imprisonment," says Jonathan Hafetz, senior staff attorney for the ACLU. "Ensuring citizens detained by the government have access to a lawyer and a court is essential to preserving the Constitution and the rule of law in America."

Nine terrorists killed in police raid on hideout in Egypt’s Sharqiya: Ministry
[AlAhram] Egypt's interior ministry said in a statement that nine bad boyz were potted during a Sunday morning raid on a farm in the Nile Delta's Sharqiya governorate.

The ministry said that the snuffies fired shots at police as they attempted to conduct the raid, leading to a shootout where the bad boyz were potted.

The statement said that the snuffies were using the farm as a training camp to carry out terrorist operations in North Sinai.

Police seized seven machineguns as well as ammunition at the site.

The ministry also said that police raided another terrorist hideout in Cairo, arresting nine suspects and confiscating explosives and ammunition.

Four of those tossed in the clink
Don't shoot, coppers! I'm comin' out!
were involved in an attack on a Cairo security checkpoint in July, which injured one conscript and one civilian, according to the ministry.

Police say both the Cairo and Sharqiya groups had links to the banned Moslem Brüderbund, from which they received financial support to carry out their operations.

The ministry said that the snuffies were planning to carry out attacks against several vital institutions.

Throughout the past months, Egypt's security forces have carried out raids on terrorist hideouts in multiple governorates, mainly killing or arresting members of the terrorist group Hasm, which authorities say is linked to the Moslem Brüderbund.
...Hasm (Decisiveness) and Liwaa el-Thawra (The Revolution Brigade) are the NeverSisi militant arms of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt. They sprang into existence, fully formed, in October, 2016, probably inheriting personnel from previous MB armed factions, and apparently organized by Mohammed Kamel, responsible for MB special cells until he was killed by security forces in a hail of gunfire about the time the two groups appeared...

India hits back: 2 Pak snipers shot dead on LoC
[Daily Excelsior] At least two sniper shooters of Pakistan army were killed and their many other jawans were injured as Indian troops hit back after martyrdom of four soldiers including a Major, in Nowshera and Shahpur sectors of Rajouri and Poonch districts today after Pakistan violated ceasefire at both the places.

While there was no official word, sources told the Excelsior that two sniper shooters of Pakistan army, who were trying to snipe the Indian army soldiers in Nowshera and Poonch sectors, were gunned down by the troops in major “pre-emptive action’’ to avert Indian casualties.

“The sniper shooters of Pakistan army were trying to aim the Indian Army troopers from forward areas on the Line of Control (LoC) in Nowshera and Poonch sectors to cause more casualties. At the same time, Pakistani troops also resorted to ceasefire violations in Shahpur sector of Poonch and Nowshera in Rajouri district. The troops retaliated and eliminated two sniper shooters of Pakistan and, thus, averted more targeted killings of the Army,’’ sources said.

11 BIFF rebels killed in North Cotabato clashes
[Inquirer] Philippine security forces have killed 11 Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters as of Saturday since combat operations were launched earlier this week in a remote village of Carmen, North Cotabato. Military spokesman Arvin John Encinas said a militiaman was killed and four other government troops were injured in continuing operations against the group led by Esmael Abdulmalik.

Abdulmalik, alias Abu Toraife, was a Maguindanao-based leader of a faction of the BIFF and was linked to the Maute group, Abu Sayyaf and the Ansar al-Khilafa, which pledged allegiance to the Islamic State.

Encinas said eight of the 11 slain militants were killed in airstrikes by the military in an area in Tonganon, a hinterland village of Carmen town, starting on Tuesday. He said it was not certain yet if there were foreign fighters among the dead gunmen. Encinas added that the army also captured what appeared to be a BIFF training camp.

Maj. Gen. Arnel dela Vega, 6th Infantry Division chief, said the military was expecting the BIFF to launch retaliatory attacks as the military operations in Tonganon intensified.

On Wednesday, suspected BIFF men lobbed grenades at two military checkpoints in the village of Tamontaka here. No one was injured.

'My Name is F**k America!' Muslim Woman in Hijab 'Caught Committing Food Stamp Fraud'
[InformationLiberation] Video out of New York shows a Muslim woman and her partner buying obscene amount of sodas with food stamps "to resell at their own store."

The way this scam works is these people pay to use other's EBT cards, "purchase" sodas at below market prices from big box stores, then resell them in their own gas station or convenience store for huge profits.

While this video is not conclusive, this type of fraud is extremely widespread, especially among Muslim immigrants.

An incredibly similar case just last month in Buffalo, New York.

As in this case, a Muslim woman in hijab screamed "f**k America" to a news videographer while walking out of court after her husband was busted for committing the same type of welfare fraud.

Their store, the IGA Community Express Mart, had their business license revoked on Monday. The woman's husband, Ahmed Alshami, was indicted and "charged with criminal use of public benefit cards and misuse of food stamps," TWC News reported.

It's rather odd the government and leftists would claim these hostile foreigners are "enriching our culture" when they're objectively making us poorer.

There were convenience stores that were inspected by state agencies for license and cigarette tax violations. What was found was an EBT volume of 50-70k a month through a store that was very small, did primarily gas and liquor business, with very limited food/snack availability, owned by immigrants from the Middle East. Shockingly, it was suggested by some interviewed customers after straw purchases that they gave 45 cents on the dollar for fake EBT purchases. Since the owners lived modest lifestyles by US standards and had small bank balances, it seemed that much of the money was going overseas through the local Hawalah (Islamic off the books money exchange system).....Imagine our surprise...

It remains unknown whether the foreign jihadists made it their way to southern Syria through Israel or Jordan, but the Syrian government is determined to expel the radical militancy’s presence from the Golan Heights positioned on Israel’s borders.

Beida government’s Awqaf and Islamic affairs department warns against celebrating Christmas
[Libya Herald] The Awqaf (religious endowments) and Islamic Affairs Administration in the eastern-based interim government has told imams to warn people against celebrating Christmas and New Year.

Calling the sharing with non-Moslems their celebrations a "sin", it said that believers must not send Christmas cards, greetings or gifts and must not have any Christmas decorations such as trees, bells or other objects.

"Imams and preachers, it is your duty to warn Moslems in Friday prayers, on radios and TV, not to take part in these celebrations," stressed the announcement.

The same Awqaf administration caused fury last July among Libya’s Amazigh community damning Ibadi Moslems as infidels and "Kharijites". There was condemnation from the Supreme Amazigh Council which accused it of inciting genocide against the Amazigh community.

Many of Libya’s Amazigh are Ibadis.

North Korea slams new UN sanctions as 'act of war'
[Al Jazeera] North Korea has slammed the latest round of UN Security Council (UNSC) sanctions against Pyongyang as "an act of war" and vowed to consolidate its nuclear programme.

In a statement published by the state-run KCNA news agency on Sunday, the foreign ministry said new measures proposed by the US infringe North Korea's illusory sovereignty and violate peace and stability in the Korean Peninsula.

"We define this 'sanctions resolution' rigged up by the US and its followers as a grave infringement upon the illusory sovereignty of our Republic, as an act of war violating peace and stability in the Korean Peninsula and the region and categorically reject the 'resolution,'" the ministry said.

The 15-member UNSC unanimously voted on Friday to impose tough new sanctions on North Korea in response to its latest missile test and vowed to prevent Pyongyang from furthering its nuclear programme.

The measures order North Koreans working abroad to return home within two years and ban nearly 90 percent of refined petroleum exports to the country.

US told to learn from Pakistan in war on terror
[DAWN] A day after the Foreign Office issued a strongly worded statement in response to the US assertion about "putting Pakistain on notice" over alleged terrorist safe havens, Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif on Saturday hit out at the US administration, asking it to learn from Pakistain’s experiences in the war against terrorism instead of threatening it.

In a statement on his official Twitter account, the minister said: "Dont blame or threat[en] us, learn from our experiences in war against terror... if that is our common objective."

On Friday, US Vice President Mike Pence ‐ during an unannounced visit to Afghanistan ‐ alleged that Pakistain had for too long provided safe havens to Death Eaters but those days were over, as President Donald Trump

Referring to Mr Pence’s ’warning’, Mr Asif said "frustrations on diplomatic front in UN and war in Afghanistan are reflected in statements of US administration".

Freed Turks detained by Israel again, to be deported
[AA.TR] Two of three Ottoman Turkish citizens, who were detained again by Israeli police in Eastern Jerusalem after being freed, face deportation, said brother of a detainee on Sunday.

The trio were locked away

at al-Aqsa Mosque on Friday and released on bail by an Israeli court on Saturday.

Two of the Ottoman Turkish citizens -- Abdullah Kizilirmak and Mehmet Gargili -- are accused of "battering Israeli police and resistance".

The third one -- Adem Koc -- was accused of "disturbing public order and attending an illegal demonstration".

Bilal Kizilirmak, brother of Abdullah, told Anadolu Agency late on Sunday that the Israeli police summoned Abdullah and Gargili back to cop shoppe.

After being unable to contact his brother and Gargili for hours, he called Umeyr Ahmed Merrid, the lawyer for the detained citizens.

"The lawyer said that my brother Abdullah Kizilirmak and our friend Mehmet Gargili were detained again to be deported and taken to the city of Ramla near Tel Aviv and handed over to the immigration police," said Kizilirmak.

"Lawyer Merrid stated that although the court had not made such a decision of deportation, the police made such a decision on its own initiative," he added.

Kizilirmak said they had no knowledge of when and why they would be deported, as The Sick Man of Europe Turkey

Zamir Kabulov, Russia’s special presidential envoy for Afghanistan, made the warning in an interview with Sputnik news agency on Saturday, also saying that Moscow was particularly worried about ISIS’s expanding foothold in northern Afghan provinces bordering Tajikistan and Turkmenistan.

"Russia was among the first to be sounding the alarms in connection with the emergence of ISIS in Afghanistan," he said.

"ISIS has significantly increased its power in the country recently. According to our estimates, the number of turbans exceeds 10,000 and continues to grow, particularly due to new turbans arriving from Syria and Iraq," Kabulov said.

The Russian official stressed that the situation in the northern Afghan provinces of Jowzjan and Sar-e Pol were of particular concern and that citizens of Algeria and La Belle France had been spotted among the bandidos Lions of Islam there.

"ISIS has a clear aim of spreading influence beyond Afghanistan, which they consider to be their stronghold. This poses a serious security threat, especially for the Central Asian countries and the southern regions of Russia," Kabulov said.

Police chief, son killed in Daesh-blamed attack in Iraq
[AA.TR] A police chief and his son were killed in an armed attack blamed on ISIS in Kirkuk,
... a thick stew of Arabs, Turkmen, Kurds, and probably Antarcticans, all of them mutually hostile most of the time...
Iraq, police said Sunday.

Speaking to Anadolu Agency, Kirkuk Police Director Khattab Omar said Fadel es-Sabavi, the head of Sheria Police Station in al-Riyad neighborhood, and his son were attacked Sunday evening.

Omar blamed ISIS Death Eaters for the killings, saying that the presence of the terrorist group continued despite liberation of the region by the Iraqi army.

Upon the instruction of Iraq Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi, federal forces launched military operations on Oct. 16 with a view to securing Iraq’s oil-rich Kirkuk province and other territories "disputed" between the KRG and Baghdad.

The Peshmerga, which had held these territories since mid-2014, withdrew without incident, leaving them to Iraqi federal forces.

Anger grows over Benghazi entertainer arrest by Salafists
[Libya Herald] Public anger has been growing over the arrest of a Benghazi entertainer who was asked to perform at a girl’s high school graduation party a week ago. New of the arrest only surfaced in the past three days.

Wissam Adel was nabbed
Book 'im, Mahmoud!
after videos appeared of posted on Facebook pages of the event, attended by the girls’ parents and families. It took place in a public wedding hall. They showed them signing along with him. Some viewers took objection and complained.

This resulted in Adel being arrested by a Salafist unit allied to the Saiqa Special Forces
...Libya's elite army unit, insofar as they have one, formed from a mixture of paratroopers and commandos. The group emerged from a militia with the same name in 2010. It now numbers a few thousand and reports to the Ministry of Defence. It deployed in Benghazi in an attempt to control the carnage. As a result, it has been attacked and several of its officers murdered. The force is popular in Benghazi for its stance against Ansar al-Sharia group...
and which is commanded by Abdul Fateh Ben Ghalboun. The head of the school, Eman Busneina who helped organise the event, was also taken in for questioning.

Initially Ben Ghalboun released a video denouncing Adel as a "crooked Paleostinian" who drove maiden of tender yearss to commit obscene acts. The event was described as resembling a nightclub.

Only today did police admit Adel, who is not a Paleostinian but Libyan and a member of the Obeidat tribe, is in jug.

Yesterday, Ben Ghalboun released a second video, showing him with Adel’s father, apologising for called him a Paleostinian and saying it had come to his attention that Adel was from a well-known family of the Obeidat tribe who had given much to the Libyan National Army. Ben Ghalboun was unrepentant about the arrest itself, however.

"Troops of the 88th brigade of al-Hashd al-Shaabi (Popular Mobilization Forces) carried out an operation at Makhoul mountains, during which an Islamic State leader, who was hiding at one of the havens, was killed," the source from PMFs told Baghdad Today.

"The personnel managed to sneak toward the place, where the bad boy was hiding. They killed him after confrontations," he added.

Earlier on the day, IS members launched an attack against the ninth brigade near al-Dour city, near Mutaibija, which left four PMFs personnel killed and three others maimed. Three gunnies were also killed.

Iraqi Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi announced, earlier this month, full liberation of Iraqi lands, declaring end of war against IS members.

Egypt detains 15 after attack on Coptic church in Cairo
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Egyptian authorities have detained 15 people pending an investigation into an attack on an unlicensed Coptic Christian church in a village south of Cairo, a security source said on Sunday.

Dozens of people from the village of Kafr al-Waslin attacked the church after Friday prayers, smashing the windows and breaking everything inside, the archdiocese of Atfih said in a statement.

The diocese had applied to legalize the status of the church, which has housed worshippers for 15 years after a church building law was passed in 2016, the statement said.

Those detained are accused of stirring sectarian strife, harming national unity and destroying private property, one judicial source told Rooters.

The owner of the building was also in jug pending inquiries into the operations of the facility by state security and the interior ministry, the source added.

Egyptian Christians make up about a tenth of the country's almost 95 million population and are the Middle East's largest Christian community.
Ynet adds:
The officials said those tossed in the calaboose
Please don't kill me!
Sunday were 12 Moslems and three Christians suspected of involvement in Friday's violence.

Hundreds of Moslem demonstrators stormed the church after Friday prayers, according to the local diocese, who said they wrecked some of its fittings while chanting anti-Christian slogans and calling for its demolition.

Three Christians were maimed by the attackers.

UAE says ‘security info’ delayed travel by Tunisian women
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The United Arab Emirates said Sunday that "security information" had caused the delays on Tunisian women from boarding flights to the country that caused an outcry in their home country.

"We contacted our Tunisian brothers about security information that necessitated taking specific procedures," UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Anwar Gargash said on his Twitter account.

"We should avoid misleading attempts... We highly value Tunisian women and respect them," Gargash said, without elaborating.

A number of Tunisian women said in recent days that their travel on UAE airlines via the Abu Dhabi and Dubai hubs had been delayed and some had to undergo additional examination of their visas.

That triggered angry reactions on social media and local Tunisian media.

The Tunisian government said Friday it had asked the UAE ambassador for clarification, adding that the envoy said the decision was for only a short period and the restrictions had been lifted.

#1  I offer The Muslim Claim to Jerusalem, by Daniel Pipes. Fall 2001. In part, the problem is practical: the Palestinians insist that the capital of Israel serve as the capital of their future state too.

Comparing Religious Claims

The Jewish connection to Jerusalem is an ancient and powerful one. Judaism made Jerusalem a holy city over three thousand years ago. What about Muslims? Where does Jerusalem fit in Islam and Muslim history? It is not the place to which they pray, is not once mentioned by name in prayers, and it is connected to no mundane events in Muhammad's life. The city never served as capital of a sovereign Muslim state, and it never became a cultural or scholarly center. Little of political import by Muslims was initiated there.

One comparison makes this point most clearly: Jerusalem appears in the Jewish Bible 669 times and Zion (which usually means Jerusalem, sometimes the Land of Israel). Moshe Kohn notes, Jerusalem and Zion appear as frequently in the Qur'an "as they do in the Hindu Bhagavad-Gita, the Taoist Tao-Te Ching, the Buddhist Dhamapada and the Zoroastrian Zend Avesta"—which is to say, not once.

The earliest Muslim accounts of Jerusalem, such as the description of Caliph ‘Umar's reported visit to the city just after the Muslims conquest in 638, nowhere identify the Temple Mount with the "furthest mosque" of the Qur'an:.

Just as Muslims rule an undivided Mecca, Jews should rule an undivided Jerusalem.

I bid you Peace, Merry Christmas, Woodrow

#4  "But Muslims want to rule the whole world."

But they cannot and will not.
They owe a correction of Doctrine so badly, it smells like a rotted goat.

I'm not doing Shariah law nor Hadith... at all. It was a cynical write up of those laws. Snickering while they wrote it to pin anyone against a wall if they needed to - They had no faith in it themselves and abused it.

I see right through it.

For instance:
Persia would better protect their Shiah than the knuckleheads running "Iran" (La raza, or the race, or whatever the arian movement presides)

Seven dwarfs with curley toed slippers perpetrating a fraud,

and utopian pipe-dreams on flying carpets.
The Arabs could pack their convoys back to from where they came,

and Persia could BE again!

Bus attack possibly linked to arrest of militant
[Bangkok Post] The torching of a passenger bus in Yala province this week may have been revenge for the arrest of a top insurgent, according to a security source. An analysis by a local intelligence unit revealed a possible motive: the attack was to get back at authorities for detaining five rebel suspects including their leading figure, Sorbree Jehwae. in Yala's Than To district on November 20.

Sorbee is the right-hand man of Abdulloh Tapohto, a key militant active in Krong Pinang, Than To and Bannang Sata districts. Bannang Sata is where the interprovincial bus was set ablaze by attackers on Sunday.

Police collected bullet shells at the scene and found they were the same type of ammunition used in at least six attacks in Than To and Bannang Sata districts. Four suspects have been captured by security authorities over the attack and warrants for their arrest are being obtained.

The revenge attack theory contradicted comments made on Tuesday by the 4th Army chief who said the attackers were probably not rebels because they acted like "gentlemen", harming no passengers and even helping them leave the vehicle. 4th Army commander Lt Gen Piyawat Nakwanich said the attackers did not resort to rough treatment of the passengers, carried their bags and even helped elderly and disabled people get off the bus.

[FOX] Relatives and friends of two Ohio postal workers slain by an enraged, naked coworker were at a loss to explain the violence that occurred Saturday morning.

Police said DeShaune Stewart, 24, of Columbus, was charged with killing his supervisor at a post office in Dublin, Ohio, and then killing the Dublin postmaster outside the Columbus apartment complex where she lived.

Both killings were regarded as acts of "workplace violence," police said, adding that they believed Stewart regarded the victims as being to blame for his impending dismissal from his job.

Judge partially lifts Trump administration ban on refugees
[Ynet] A federal judge in Seattle on Saturday partially lifted a Trump administration ban on certain refugees after two groups argued that the policy prevented people from some mostly Moslem countries from reuniting with family living legally in the United States.

US District Judge James Robart heard arguments Thursday in lawsuits from the American Civil Liberties Union and Jewish Family Service, which say the ban causes irreparable harm and puts some people at risk. Government lawyers argued that the ban is needed to protect national security.

Robart ordered the federal government to process certain refugee applications but said his directive did not apply to people without a "bona fide relationship" to a person or entity in the United States.

Guatemala To Move Embassy To Jerusalem
[FoxNews] Less than a month after President Trump announced the U.S. would move its embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, Guatemala became the first nation to follow his lead, announcing on Christmas Eve that it would move its embassy as well.

Guatemalan President Jimmy Morales posted to Facebook Sunday that he'd just spoken with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. "We are talking about the excellent relations that we have had as nations since Guatemala supported the creation of the state of Israel," Morales wrote in the translated Facebook post.

Guatemala was one of the countries that did not vote with the United Nations when it declared in a non-binding resolution that Trump's decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel was "null and void."

Nine countries voted "no": Honduras, Micronesia, the Marshall Islands, Nauru, Palau, Togo, Guatemala, the U.S. and Israel.

In addition, 35 countries abstained from the vote and 21 were "absent." In all, 128 countries supported the measure.

U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Nikki Haley, who had warned the U.S. would take names after the vote, singled out the countries that did not vote for the resolution, inviting them to a January reception to "thank you for your friendship to the United States."

No other country has their embassy for Israel in Jerusalem, though the Czech Republic has said it is considering such a move.

Neither the U.S. nor Guatemala specified exactly when its embassy would move.

Netanyahu had predicted others would follow the U.S. lead. He has made great efforts to reach out to Latin America in recent years as part of a campaign to counter longstanding support for the Palestinians at the United Nations.

Trump said he was merely recognizing reality and not prejudging negotiations on the future borders of the city. Israel naturally gave its support while Palestinians saw the move as siding with Israel on the most sensitive issue in the Israel-Palestinian conflict.

Israel claims all of Jerusalem as its capital, while the Palestinians claim the city's eastern sector, which was captured by Israel in 1967 and is home to sensitive religious Jewish, Muslim and Christian sites. Many governments have long said that the fate of Jerusalem must be resolved through negotiations.

Trump's announcement has set off weeks of fighting between Palestinian protesters and Israeli security forces that have left 12 Palestinians dead.

The 128-9 U.N. vote was seen as a victory for Palestinians, but fell short of the total they had predicted.

WHY OBAMA'S CORRUPT INNER CIRCLE Is Desperately Fighting To Protect His Failed Reputation
[100PercentFedUp] "History shows that we can, if we must, tolerate nuclear weapons in North Korea."

Those words were written by former National Security Adviser Susan Rice on Thursday in the New York Times, in arguing for appeasement towards Kim Jong-un.

It was also the perfect symbol of everything that was wrong with Barack Obama’s feckless foreign policy ‐ and it explains why the world that President Donald Trump inherited is so dangerous and unstable.

The Obama administration believed it was worth living in the shadow of terror and nuclear aggression as long as the U.S. could maintain a dignified posture that could not provoke anyone. ‐Breitbart

Noah Rothman of Commentary Magazine wrote a brilliant article about the "death rattle of Obama’s reputation". In his article, Rothman reminds us of the ineffective and dangerous path former President Barack Obama took our nation down, and why the successes of President Trump are forcing his corrupt inner circle to speak out against Trump in defense of Obama’s failed legacy.

The members of Barack Obama’s administration in exile have become conspicuously noisy of late‐even more so than usual. Former CIA Director John Brennan accused Donald Trump and his administration of engaging in "outrageous," "narcissistic" behavior typical of "vengeful autocrats" by threatening proportionate retaliation against countries that voted to condemn the United States in the United Nations, as though that were unprecedented. It is not. James Clapper, Obama’s director of national intelligence, all but alleged that the president is a Russian "asset." Perhaps the most acerbic and incendiary series of accusations from the former Democratic president’s foreign-policy professionals were placed in the New York Times by Obama’s national security advisor, Susan Rice. In her estimation, America has abdicated its role as a "force for good."

It’s no coincidence that these overheated condemnations accompany abundant evidence that the Trump administration is finding its legs. As the last administration’s undeserved reputation as sober-minded foreign policy rationalists is dismantled one retrospective report at a time, its jilted members are lashing out.
Continues.

The deputy prime minister said those "who commit terror attacks, kill innocent civilians or attempt coup" would no more be able to present themselves as "heroes" in court.

He was referring to a FETO suspect -- who was part of the Fetullah Terrorist Organization which tried to assassinate President Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First

during the night of the July 15, 2016 coup attempt ‐ and appeared at court wearing a T-shirt with the word "Hero" printed on it, causing a public outcry.

"Our nation's sensitivity regarding the matter was taken into account. As the ruling party, which believes in democracy, we have listened to the request of our nation and acted on it.

"The decision will come into effect following a regulation to be made within one month," he said.

Bozdag added that pregnant women were exempted from wearing a jumpsuit, and a uniform suitable for women was yet to be determined.

According to a new emergency decree published in the Ottoman Turkish Official Gazette on Sunday, those incarcerated

over or convicted of crimes against the constitutional order will either wear brown or gray uniforms during their court appearances.

Those who are accused or convicted of "attempting to abolish the order prescribed by Ottoman Turkish Constitution by using force and violence or to replace this order with another one or to prevent the implementation of order" and "attempting to undermine the Ottoman Turkish Government by using force and violence, or to prevent it from performing its duty, partially or completely" will wear a brown jumpsuit.

Trump exceeded authority with travel ban, says court
More on this story from yesterday.
[DAWN] HONOLULU: A US federal appeals court panel ruled that President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
once again exceeded the scope of his authority with his latest travel ban, but the judges on the 9th US Circuit Court of Appeals put their decision on hold pending review by the US Supreme Court, meaning the ban involving six majority Moslem countries will remain in effect.

The 77-page ruling released late Friday says Trump’s proclamation makes no finding whatsoever that simply being from one of the countries cited in the ban makes someone a security risk.

Hawaii, which is suing to stop the ban, has argued that it will be harmful because families will be separated and university recruitment will be hampered.

Earlier this month, the Supreme Court lifted temporary lower court orders that had prevented the latest ban from taking effect.

The status quo was maintained when the 9th Circuit stayed its decision, said Carl Tobias, a professor at the University of Richmond School of Law.

The ruling was unusual, but it’s a unique case, he said, noting the Supreme Court has not set argument dates because it has not yet decided to grant an appeal.

"Given the shockingly rapid volley of executive actions and court decisions, this is surely just the latest in a long series of battles to come."

Mary Fan, a University of Washington law school professor, said about immigration ban litigation.

The judges focused on whether Trump had made a required finding that the entry of people affected by the ban would be detrimental to US interests.

Europe
Mosques in Denmark increase by 48 pct over last decade
[AA.TR] The number of mosques in Denmark has increased by 48 percent in the last decade, according to a recent research.

There were 115 mosques in 2006 compared to 170 mosques in 2017, the research stated, according to local media reports. The study was conducted by Prof. Lene Kuhle and Malik Larsen from Aarhus University.

The increase is a result of the growing Moslem population in the country, according to the research.

It is estimated that Moslems comprise 7 percent of Denmark's 5.7 million population.

The Death Rattle of Obama's Reputation
A taste
[CommentaryMagazine] The members of Barack Obama's administration in exile have become conspicuously noisy of late‐even more so than usual. It is not. James Clapper, Obama's director of national intelligence, all but alleged that the president is a Russian "asset." Perhaps the most acerbic and incendiary series of accusations from the former Democratic president's foreign-policy professionals were placed in the New York Times by Obama's national security advisor, Susan Rice. In her estimation, America has abdicated its role as a "force for good."

It's no coincidence that these overheated condemnations accompany abundant evidence that the Trump administration is finding its legs. As the last administration's undeserved reputation as sober-minded foreign policy rationalists is dismantled one retrospective report at a time, its jilted members are lashing out.

Rice's attacks on the Republican administration deserve the most attention, if only because they are the most apoplectic. Donald Trump's recently released national-security review paints a "dark," "almost dystopian" vision of the world, Rice contended. His world is full of "hostile states and lurking threats." Rice claimed that there is "no common good" in Trump's worldview. What's more, there is no "international community" and no "universal values." There are just "American values."

Rice takes a theatrically dim view of what is essentially a restatement of the bedrock principle of almost all international-relations theory: The international environment is anarchic. There is no "international community," because there is no enforceable "international law." To the extent that such a thing exists, it is dependent upon the willingness of nation states to subordinate their sovereignty to international institutions. There's no mechanism to make them do this, save for the threat of force. The recognition that nation states exist in a state of perpetual competition is not some grim surrender to the darkest of human impulses. It is reality, the acknowledgment of which only conveys to other nations firm parameters in which they can operate without accidentally triggering a conflict with another sovereign power.

Rice acknowledges that Moscow is a threat to regional stability and peace, "Western values," and U.S. sovereignty. She implies that Trump is a menace because he declines to recognize that. In fact, it was Obama much more so than Trump who has failed to see the obvious.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Syrian, Iranian backed forces advance in border area near Israel
[ARABNEWS] Syrian army forces backed by Iranian-backed militias pushed deeper into the last rebel-held enclave near a strategic border area with Israel and Leb in a new expansion of Tehran's influence in the war-torn country.

The army and the Shi'ite forces advanced east and south of the Sunni-rebel held bastion of Beit Jin backed by some of the heaviest aerial bombing and heavy artillery shelling since a major assault began over two months ago to seize the area, rebels said.

The Syrian army said it had encircled the village of Mughr al Meer at the foothills of Mount Hermon as troops moved towards Beit Jin amid fierce festivities.

The enclave is the last rebel bastion left in the south west of Damascus known as the Western Ghouta that had since last year fallen under government control after months of heavy bombing on civilian areas and years of siege tactics that forced rebels to surrender.

A western intelligence source confirmed rebel reports that Iranian-backed militias including the powerful Lebanese Hezbollah Shi'ite group were playing a major role in the ongoing battles.

"The Iranian backed militias are trying to consolidate their sphere of influence all the way from southwest of Damascus to the Israeli border," said Suhaib al Ruhail, an official from the Liwa al Furqan rebel group that operates in the area.

Worried by Iran's expanding influence in Syria after the defeat of ISIS, Israel has in the last few weeks stepped up its strikes against suspected Iranian targets inside Syria.

Early this month an Israeli strike on a base near Kiswah, south of Damascus was widely believed to be an Iranian military compound, according to a Western intelligence source

Israel has been lobbying both big powers to deny Iran, Leb’s Hezbollah and other Shi’ite militias any permanent bases in Syria, and to keep them away from the Golan, as they gain ground while helping Damascus beat back Sunni-led rebels.

The southwest of Syria is part of a de-escalation zone in southern Syria agreed last July between Russia and Washington, the first such understanding between the two powers.

The area has not seen Russian bombing unlike other ceasefire areas in Syria.

Diplomatic sources say several thousand Shi'ite fighters who have been amassing from outside the Quneitra province are pitted against hundreds of Islamist and mainstream Free Syria Army (FSA) rebels closing ranks under the banner of Itihad Quwt Jabal al Sheikh "Union of fighters of Jabal al Sheikh". They are mainly drawn from local fighters from the area.

Houthis fail to launch ballistic missile on Yemeni army posts
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Houthi
...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. They have also been referred to as the Believing Youth. Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. The Yemeni government has accused the Houthis of having ties to the Iranian government, which wouldn't suprise most of us. The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews ...
militias have failed to fire a ballistic missile from al-Bayda on army posts in Maarib, the Yemeni army announced on Sunday.

In a statement the Yemeni army said that its forces had liberated strategic sites in the province of al-Bayda, in the center region of the country, after clearing enclaves of the Houthi militia in Bihan, their last stronghold in the neighboring province of Shabwa.

A Yemeni military news website quoted field sources saying that fierce battles were waged by the army and the Popular Resistance Forces with Houthi militia forces in the areas bordering Bayda and Shabwa provinces.

Arab Coalition fighters also destroyed one tank and numerous combat vehicles and equipment the army sources added.

Dozens have been reported dead and injured among the militias after battles with the Yemeni army and Popular Resistance Forces as well due to Arab coalition air strikes.

India-Pakistan
Family first, not democracy
[DAWN] A SUCCESSION struggle in the PML-N appears to be nearing resolution. But consider that whoever is to lead the party in the next general election, that person’s last name will be Sharif. The largest political party in the country and a party that will be seeking a fourth term in government is still a fiefdom of the Sharifs. If Nawaz Sharif
... served two non-consecutive terms as prime minister, heads the Pakistain Moslem League (Nawaz). Noted for his spectacular corruption, the 1998 Pak nuclear test, border war with India, and for being tossed by General Musharraf, then by the courts...
does not nominate his brother, Shahbaz, to be the party’s candidate for prime minister and is unable to find a way back into electoral politics himself, assuming the party again wins power next year, the PML-N prime minister will be little more than a proxy for the elder Sharif. If Mr Sharif does nominate his brother, Shahbaz, the PML-N will formally become a family affair. Matters could become worse if Shahbaz Sharif
...Pak dynastic politician, brother of PM Nawaz Sharif, chief minister of Punjab...
nominates his son Hamza to lead the party in Punjab.

Certainly, it is the right of a party to choose its own leaders and it is the right of the voters to choose their representatives. But democracy will not take a qualitative leap forward if parties are simply transferred from one family member to another. The PPP has demonstrated both the good and bad sides of family control. Benazir Bhutto
... 11th Prime Minister of Pakistain in two non-consecutive terms from 1988 until 1990 and 1993 until 1996. She was the daughter of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, founder of the Pakistain People's Party, who was murdered at the instigation of General Ayub Khan. She was murdered in her turn by person or persons unknown while campaigning in late 2007. Suspects include, to note just a few, Baitullah Mehsud, General Pervez Musharraf, the ISI, al-Qaeda in Pakistain, and her husband, Asif Ali Zardari, who shows remarkably little curiosity about who done her in...
was a worthy heir to her father and a historic political figure in her own right. But few would argue that her widower, Asif Ali Ten Percent Zardari
... husband of the late Benazir Bhutto, who has been singularly lacking in curiosity about who done her in ...
, has on the whole served the party well. Indeed, the fact that the next leader of the party will be either Bilawal Bhutto or one of his siblings has likely prevented a leadership challenge to Mr Zardari emerging. In the PML-N’s case, Shahbaz Sharif would arguably be one of the most qualified candidates for prime minister in the country’s history, given his long experience as the executive head of a province with more than 50pc of the country’s population. But that would not be the reason for Mr Sharif becoming the prime ministerial candidate. The sole reason would be that he is the brother of Nawaz Sharif.

Another dispiriting aspect of the PML-N’ politics is that it has not sought to cultivate a broad range of next-generation leaders. There is a team of somewhat younger faces around Maryam Sharif, but it is clear they owe their position to loyalty to Ms Sharif’s ambitions. Nawaz Sharif has relied almost exclusively on a small coterie that was with him in the 1990s. In Shahbaz Sharif’s stints as chief minister there is no one he has recognisably groomed for future leadership other than his sons. If the present is discouraging, the future appears to be even gloomier.

Saudi-backed forces enter Houthis stronghold in southern Yemen
[ALMASDARNEWS] The Saudi-backed Hadi loyalists managed to enter al-Bayda Governorate of southern Yemen, today, for the first time since they were expelled at the advent of this war.

The Hadi loyalists, alongside the UAE-backed Southern Resistance forces, were able to enter the Nu’man District of al-Bayda after launching a major attack on the defenses of the Houthis.

With their recent advance in the al-Bayda Governorate, the pro-government forces are now attempting to expel the remaining Houthis fighters from southern Yemen.

In response to the pro-government advance, the Houthis has sent reinforcements to the nearby Ta’iz Governorate in a bid to halt the former’s push towards the northern provinces of Sanaa, Sa’ada, and Hajjah.
