Palestinian Authority paid terrorists nearly $350 million in 2017
[Jpost] The Palestinian Authority paid terrorists and their families over $347 million last year, according to its own records, the Defense Ministry reported to the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee Tuesday.

The average income of a Palestinian is $580 per month, which is what the PA pays terrorists who are sentenced to three to five years in prison.

The PA pays terrorists who are sentenced to 20 years or more in prison ‐ in other words, those who committed more severe crimes, and likely were involved in killing Israelis ‐ five times that each month for the rest of their lives.

Terrorists who are Israeli citizens receive a $145 bonus, which, when added to the amount PA pays for the most severe crimes, comes to over $2,900, more than the average Israeli income of around $2,700 per month. There are also increases in pay for being married and for each child a terrorist has.

Fred Fugen and Vince Reffet redefine insanity
[The Local] Fred Fugen, 38 and Vince Reffet, 33, who call themselves the "Soul Flyers" have pulled of a death defying stunt in which they fly into a moving plane in mid air.

The pair jumped from the famous Jungfrau mountain in Switzerland and flew down to catch the moving light aircraft.

Not content with just flying alongside the plane the pair managed somehow to land safely inside the aircraft as the incredible video below shows.

They did however need two jumps to succeed. But let'stake nothing away from them.

‘Spitzer Lost His Mind' ‐ Threatened To Stab Restaurant Patron ‘In The C**ck'
[Daily Caller] Embattled former Democratic Gov. Eliot Spitzer allegedly threatened to stab a man in the genitals for praising his longtime enemy, philanthropist Kenneth Langone, while dining at an upscale Manhattan restaurant.

Jamie Antolini claims he was innocently dining with business partners at Avra Madison Estiatorio when Spitzer, who resigned from office amid a high dollar prostitution scandal, began harassing and threatening him.

“Spitzer lost his mind,” Antolini told the Daily News of the Jan. 2 incident.

“I’m going to fucking stab you with a fucking knife in the cock,” the 48-year-old Antolini recalled Spitzer saying. Spitzer was at the restaurant to celebrate his mother’s 90th birthday.

Antolini, who claims he never saw a knife and did not file a police report, said Spitzer was walking by and overheard him praising Langone as an “amazing guy.”

“All I said was, ‘Ken Langone would have been the best President ever,'” Antolini recalled.

Spokesman: Senior Hamas official shot in the head
[Jpost] Senior Hamas official Imad al-Alami on Tuesday was admitted to a hospital in Gaza City after being shot in the head "while examining his personal weapon in his home", Hamas Spokesman Fawzi Barhoum said.
Uh huh
Alami is known as a hardliner and has supported Hamas’s ties with Iran. In a Facebook post, Barhoum said that Alami is in "critical condition."

On Tuesday afternoon, Senior Hamas officials including Hamas Politburo Chief Ismail Haniyeh and Hamas Chief in Gaza Yahya Sinwar visited Alami in the intensive care unit in Gaza City's Shifa Hospital, Gaza-based media reported.

Alami has been a Hamas member since the late 1980s and was the first Hamas representative in Tehran.

In 2012, he returned to Gaza after spending a number of years outside of the Palestinian territories.

In 2014, one of his feet was injured in an Israeli air raid during Operation Protective Edge, according to Hamas's official website.

Syrian army claims Israel struck targets near Damascus in overnight raids
[Independent] Syria's army stated that its air defenses had hit an Israeli aircraft and had intercepted some rockets fired at Syrian targets with their weapons storage buildings. The Israeli Air Force struck Syrian military positions east of Damascus in a series of overnight raids, the Syrian army said Tuesday.

In a statement by Syrian state news agency SANA, Israel jets flying inside Lebanese airspace fired several missiles towards the al-Qutaifa area at around 2:40 in the morning on Tuesday causing damage near the military site. According to the statement by the General Command, the regime's air defenses intercepted the missiles and hit one of the planes.

Israel is also said to have fired two surface-to-surface missiles from the Golan Heights at 3:04 AM and another four missiles from around the area of Tiberias. The Syrian army statement claimed that all missiles were intercepted but that some damage was caused as a result of the interception.

"The Israeli aggression affirms again the support of the occupying entity to terrorist organizations in Syria and its desperate attempts to raise their morale after the painful blows they received in Harasta in eastern Ghouta in Damascus countryside and the sweeping victories the Syrian Arab Army is achieving in Idlib," read the army statement said.

Local sources reported the sounds of explosions near long-range missile warehouses and other military compounds in the town of Qutayfah, the news website Qasioun reported.

Global Warming Strands 13,000 in Zermatt, SZ
[The Mail] Heavy snowfall has trapped around 13,000 tourists at Zermatt, one of Switzerland's most popular ski stations.

The snow has blocked all roads and the train leading to the resort in the southern Swiss canton of Valais, which was also hit by some power outages, head of the train station Janine Imesch said.

There are currently 'around 13,000 tourists at Zermatt,' she said, while the station website warned that 'arrivals and departures are not possible at the moment.'

The main access road has been closed since early yesterday, while the train was halted last night, she said.

Zermatt is home to about 5,500 inhabitants and has the capacity to accommodate 13,400 tourists spread across hotels and rental apartments.

But the stranded tourists will not be able to take advantage of the abundant snow for the time being, due to the high risk of avalanches in the area.

'It is not possible to do downhill or cross country, but that's OK. It's a bit romantic,' Imesch said, adding: 'There is no panic.'

Walls, BIG guns, military vehicles protect Hollywood elites at Golden Globes
[American Mirror] Even if an adoring member of the unwashed masses wanted to get close to a Hollywood A-lister, they couldn’t, as elite celebrities were protected by walls, heavily-armed police and even military vehicles near the Golden Globes venue on Sunday.

Photos tweeted by Margaret Carrero show heavy security outside the Beverly Hilton.

One photo shows a massive wall, approximately 12 feet high, surrounding the venue. If that wasn’t a deterrent enough, the road was blocked by heavily armed police.

Celebrities, who have been critical of police and opposed to guns ‐ not to mention highly critical of the border wall ‐ enjoyed a "four-mile wraparound zone" of protection.

Victor Davis Hanson - Is Trump Really Crazy?
[VDH Private Papers] Michael Wolff’s sensational exposé of the supposed chaos of the Trump White House is no doubt largely a mix of fantasy, exaggeration, and some accidental truth. The postmodernist author even admits that his own methodologies defy verification, and so leave it up to the reader to distinguish his facts from fiction.

Wolff’s theme is that Trump is hopelessly petty, childlike, and uninformed. The few adults in the room around him‐primarily, we are asked to believe, Wolff’s chief source, Steve Bannon‐must cajole, pamper, and flatter him to get anything done, when they are not backstabbing one another.

Fair enough‐Trump certainly may be naïve and uninitiated. No one doubts that he is thin-skinned and far too often goes down Twitter cul de sacs. But Trump’s naiveté is not quite what Wolff thinks.

Rather, no sane president should ever have let a writer with Wolff’s dubious and often discredited background into the White House. That such a rogue was even allowed through the door raises the question of administration sobriety.

Wolff at the Door
Not since the late Michael Hastings of Rolling Stone charmed his way into General Stanley McCrystal’s inner circle‐only to trash his benefactors‐has an executive team apparently proved so naïve with reporters. Certainly, in letting Wolff talk "off the record" to high officials, the Trump Administration showed poor judgment. That Wolff claims he easily got such haphazard access, if half true, could be a testament to Trump’s ego or the ego of those around him, such as Bannon. Did they really believe that they could charm and flip almost anyone‐even among a media whose stories and reports are 90 percent negative to Trump?

Of course, any president lax enough to let a Wolff through the door inevitably would be embarrassed by the results, given that all administrations can be petty, even gross.

Lyndon Johnson had a repulsive habit of referring openly to his sexual organ as "Jumbo"‐and occasionally displaying it to startled staffers‐a felony in our present culture. Worse still, he often gave dictation while defecating on the toilet.

John Kennedy crudely seduced dozens of his own female staffers. One, Mimi Alford, who came to work a 19-year-old virgin, wrote an entire memoir of her mechanical trysts inside the White House with JFK, including his inaugural seduction, which, by any contemporary definition, would now qualify as sexual assault. She lamented that he once had pawned her off to fellate one of his aides. A perverted rapist as our beloved commander-in-chief? No need to imagine a Wolff version of the Clinton White House.

I could an imagine a Wolff in FDR’s White House circa early 1945 having a field day: jazzing up the clandestine nocturnal trysts between the wheelchair-bound president and his mistress Lucy Mercer. His daughter Anna would be exposed as the go-between, the upstart young proto-Ivanka who had moved into the White House and became virtually a ceremonial First Lady.

All the while the Roosevelt team would struggle to lie to the press about the president’s sky-high blood pressure, chain-smoking, martini drinking, and growing feebleness. In place of Steve Bannon’s shoot-from-the-hip notions of geopolitics, a Harry Hopkins or freelancing and estranged Eleanor Roosevelt could offer mini-interviews on the administration’s successful politicking with good old Uncle Joe at Yalta. The difference is that FDR had the press in his pocket and even was too crafty to trust any of his "friends" with unfettered access.

Petty and Petulant vs. Sober and Judicious?
For all his gossip and intrigue, Wolff offers little insight into why such a supposedly disruptive and dysfunctional campaign team won the presidency. The victory, according to Wolff, was to the surprise of Trump and his advisors themselves! The logic of Wolff’s argument is that a pathetic Trump team that did not really wish to beat Clinton, Inc. If true, that paradox would say what exactly about Hillary’s fate? That wasting a mere year to win something you do not want is preferable to spending 17 years scheming in vain for your life’s ambition?

Romney has said he wants to be a McCain-like figure in the Senate
[Hot Air] A fun leftover from this Friday profile of Romney’s sureshot Senate campaign in Utah. News broke this afternoon that he was treated successfully for prostate cancer this past year, a personal detail that doubtless would have remained private unless he was about to reenter public life and wanted any information that might give voters pause disclosed early, before his next campaign begins in earnest.
"There’s got to be somebody who can stand up to the president," Romney told members of the Utah congressional delegation in recent weeks, according to a person with knowledge of his comments. "Who’s going to stand up to Trump?"...

"I’ve been told that Romney has said he wants to be a McCain-like figure in the Senate," says Dave Owen, a longtime Utah Republican strategist who doesn’t count himself a Romney supporter.

It’s hard to think of a phrase about Republicans that would make grassroots righties shudder more than "McCain-like figure." But don’t get too excited: He’s not really going "full anti-Trump." Especially not during the campaign itself.

By all measures, a construction boom is shaping up for 2018
[CNBC] All signs and numbers point to a huge year for the construction industry. Even in December, with much of the nation frozen, the construction industry added 30,000 jobs, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

For all of 2017, construction added 210,000 jobs, a 35 percent increase over 2016.

Construction spending is also soaring, rising more than expected in November to a record $1.257 trillion, according to the Commerce Department. That was up 2.4 percent annually. Spending increased across all sectors of real estate, commercial and residential, with particular strength in private construction projects. The only weakness was in government construction spending.

Construction firms are clearly looking to hire more workers. Three-quarters of them said they plan to increase payrolls in 2018, according to a new survey from the Associated General Contractors of America. Industry optimism for all types of construction, measured by the ratio of those who expected the market to expand versus those who expected it to contract, hit a record high.

"This optimism is likely based on current economic conditions, an increasingly business-friendly regulatory environment and expectations the Trump administration will boost infrastructure investments," said Stephen Sandherr, the association's CEO.

#1  nice for the people who get better jobs but many times construction booms have been followed by busts

actually the increase in actual construction is only in the 2-4% range (depending on where in the country you measure) rather than a 'boom-like' 8+%

The Sheila Jackson Lee First Class Airfare Heist Story Isn't Quite Over Yet
BLUF:
[Hot Air] After a non-apology from the airline and an offer of a voucher in exchange for her troubles, Simon was still not satisfied with the treatment she had received. And now, according to her Twitter feed, she’s asked the Congressional Ethics Committee to look into the matter.

As Simon indicates, it’s uncertain if the committee will even take up the question, but it might be worth a look. If Jackson Lee actually did ask to bump someone and cooperated with United to take Simon’s seat, that’s probably not a criminal offense, but it certainly sounds unethical. But even if the version of the story being told by United is true, there are still questions to be raised. Did the Congresswoman originally book a coach flight and then pay for an upgrade or was it a courtesy move on the part of the airline? If the latter, that constitutes a "gift" with significant cash value. And if it was paid for, then the taxpayers shelled out a considerable amount of dough for Jackson Lee to have the best seat on the plane. Was that recorded in her expense report?

Posted by: Besoeker || 01/09/2018 05:53 || Comments || Link || E-Mail|| [3 views] Top|| File under:

#1  Congress will do nothing with this, less than nothing actually. The plaintiff (herself an attorney) should seek a legal remedy by filing a suite against both the despicable Lee and the airline.

#2  She's on the transportation committee, of course she's going to get the seat you ninny. It's all about power. The problem for the airline is that today the average citizen has been empowered by the internet to do similar damage.
Posted by: Procopius2k || 01/09/2018 7:36 Comments || Top||

#3  Hot Air is sure earning its name with this article. I do not like Jackson-Lee at all but I don't see a seat upgrade to have 'significant cash value' or to be a 'considerable amount of dough'. Overstating things just a wee bit too much, methinks.

Judge Rules in Favor of Student Accused of 'Racist, Threatening Language'
[PJMedia] A student at the University of Vermont can breathe a little easier after a judge ruled in his favor. Wesley Richter had been accused of "explicitly racist and threatening language" against both black students at the school and the school's diversity initiatives.

...Richter was apparently having a phone conversation in the library multimedia room with his mother when he made the statement, one that hasn't been released to the public. There were allegedly three witnesses. One reported it. Of the other two, one refused to cooperate with investigators and the other said the comments didn't happen.
Paging Mr Jughashvili. Mr Ioseb Jughashvili, come to the white courtesy phone, please.

James Damore Sues Google for Discriminating Against White Men
h/t Instapundit
[PJMedia] James Damore, the Google engineer who was fired after arguing that the gender gap in tech may be partially explained by sex differences among men and women, just filed a class-action lawsuit against Google in the Santa Clara, Calif., Superior Court.

Damore came to fame after he wrote the now-infamous "Google Manifesto," where he pointed out that "differences in distributions of traits between men and women may in part explain why we don’t have 50% representation of women in tech."

Despite being attacked as sexist by many left-wingers, many academics and researchers also came to his defense, including Toronto-based sex researcher Dr. Debra Soh and Geoffrey Miller, a evolutionary psychology professor at the University of New Mexico.

Filed Monday morning, the class-action lawsuit argues that Google discriminates against white conservative men on the basis of their "male gender" and "Caucasian race," further alleging that there is "open hostility for conservative thought" in the Google workplace.

Damore is joined by another former Google engineer named David Gudeman, who faced "wrongful termination" in 2016 after three years as a software engineer. Both are represented by the Dhillon Law Group.

The lawsuit also alleges that Google employees were awarded bonuses for arguing against Damore’s views. In one example of this, a female employee was awarded a bonus for speaking out against the "wretched hive of scum and villainy" allegedly represented by Damore’s memo.
Lets hope it's the first, but not the last, of such actions - affirmative action is an abomination

Certainly some of our people and institutions could use a good sobering upside the head. In any case, discovery should be fun.

Personally, I think the man has a point. Most women don't give a poot about techy things like math, machines, computers or programming. The ones who do tend to be quite good at it, from my experience.

You see a similar distribution but in the other direction in healthcare. When me Mum was in the hospital awhile back, most of the nurses were gals, but there were a surprising number of guys. I was impressed by their compassion and nursing skills. Me, I'd rather change spark plugs.

Is Ohio's Largest Abortion Provider Targeting Black Neighborhoods in Cleveland?
[Townhall] Over at RedState, Jennifer Van Laar had a rather disturbing post coming out of Ohio. There appears to be a campaign from an abortion provider, Preterm, that is specifically targeting the black community in Cleveland. Van Laar cited local residents who took photos of the billboards. Some doulas have called the campaign racist, with the outrage becoming loud enough that members of the city council have reached out to Preterm to have a conservation with their executive’s leadership about the controversy. The signs read, "abortion is good medicine" and "abortion is necessary."

#3  I suggest that withholding exculpatory evidence should carry a more severe penalty than a sympathy card from the local barf association wishing the prosecutor better luck next time.
Thing is, you don't withhold exculpatory evidence unless you know that, if it comes out, you don't have a case. So, you know you don't have a case, but you're still trying to put the guy in jail. Shouldn't that be a major crime?

Greenfield: Who's crazy? Trump or the Shrinks?
FTFA:
[FrontPage] In October, 125 psychologists and assorted mental health professionals marched to New York’s City Hall while wearing red tags warning, “DANGER.” Leading the march was Peter Fraenkel, author of Sync Your Relationship, Save Your Marriage, mournfully beating a drum in a solemn march. Fraenkel, a psychologist and “professional drummer” was able to combine his love of drums and hatred of Trump.

The ‘Duty to Warn’ march had begun at New York Law School where the experts demanded that Trump be removed from office based on their inability to understand the 25th Amendment. And then the mental health experts marched to the beat of Fraenkel’s drum in what they insisted was a “funereal and dignified” procession.

"Please wear professional attire or dark clothing," the mental health experts were instructed. "There will be a slow drum beat, ‘DANGER’ tape, and flashing warning lights.”

The paperwork urged, “Bring a drum if you have one” and, “come as your solemn, concerned self.”

If only the organizers had put a fraction of their obsessive delusions into actually trying to justify the claim on their shiny blue banner that, “Trump is psychologically unfit to lead this country.”

There were no drums when Bandy X. Lee, the organizer of Yale’s ‘Duty to Warn’ conference showed up on Capitol Hill to “brief” Dem politicians about Trump’s mental illness that she diagnosed over Twitter. Lee, a self-proclaimed expert on the prison system, apparently isn’t even currently licensed to practice.
Read the whole thing.

Parolee freezes to death after fleeing scene of car crash
[New York Post] A parolee who caused a four-car pile-up in Milwaukee ran from the crash scene to hide in the bushes ‐ and wound up freezing to death, according to a report.

Mark Henderson, 34, who was on parole for pleading guilty to a 2012 fatal hit-and-run, had blown through a red light on Dec. 30, causing the 2 p.m. crash, ABC affiliate WISN-TV reported.

Instead of remaining at the scene, Henderson made a mad dash into the bushes in his attempt to evade police.

The man’s body was discovered between a shed and a wooden fence the next day by his girlfriend, according to the news outlet.

Experts said the average temperature in Milwaukee last month was 25 degrees.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
What Makes the Recent Unrest Different
[IRANWIRE] An editorial published in Iran’s Javan Newspaper, which is closely linked to the Revolutionary Guards, has set out reasons why the recent protests, which began in Mashhad on December 28 and began spreading to several provincial cities the next day, are unlike any previous unrest Iran has experienced over the last almost four decades.

The article was written by Dr. Abdollah Ganji, the paper’s managing editor, who holds a PhD in political science and is a professor at Allameh Tabatabaei University.

Recent spates of unrest in some cities in the country have, in their own way, brought a new experience to the people and the state that can add to earlier experiences and offer new and different lessons and attitudes. These instances of unrest have characteristics that make them different from all other riots, protests and unrest after the revolution, although they might share certain aspects with previous cases in terms of how foreigners have handled it.

Kitchen table hand gun cleaning demo goes terribly wrong
[Omaha World-Harold] A Bellevue man shot himself in the hand while demonstrating the proper way to clean and take apart a gun, Omaha police reported.

Two Omaha men, ages 23 and 25, told police that a 23-year-old friend was showing them how to clean a Springfield XD 9 mm about 6:30 p.m. Friday in their home west of 72nd Street and Military Avenue. He decided to show them how fast he could take the gun apart.

Both men told police they were in the kitchen when the friend racked the gun’s slide and ejected a bullet. The man then tried to show them that the gun was empty by holding the muzzle of the gun to his hand and pulling the trigger.

As the man said, "It happens to the best of us."

Exclusive: Maxine Water's challenger Omar Navarro tells BLP ‘If Trump can do it, I can do it'
[BigLeaguePolitics] A congressional hopeful from California told Big League Politics that he is optimistic about his groundswell of support as he looks to unseat a longtime congresswoman in November.

"Every day I grow more confident," said Omar Navarro, a 28-year-old political outsider from Inglewood.

Navarro is running against Rep. Maxine M. Waters (D.-Calif.) in California’s 43rd congressional district. Waters has been a congresswoman since 1991.

The candidate, who has a large social media presence, said that President Donald J. Trump was his inspiration for running. He feels like an underdog, similar to Trump.

"If Trump can do it, I can do it," Navarro said.

"Not only did Maxine Waters acknowledge my candidacy a whole year before the election, she called for my investigation in December, which shows that she feels threatened by me," said Navarro.

Navarro said that Waters called for a forgery investigation into a document that he shared on Twitter, which he says he did not write, but only shared.

While recognizing that Waters has something of an advantage being so well-established, Navarro said that his campaign has raised $200,000, and has a growing group of volunteers and supporters.

He is facing three primary opponents, all of whom have declared candidacy with less than $10,000 to spend.

The Rebuilding America Now PAC, which was instrumental in the 2016 Trump campaign, has also pledged its support for Navarro.

"When you run for Congress, you are not just representing your district, you are representing all Americans," he said.

Navarro said that his opponent is unhinged and that her policies are not beneficial to the public at large.

On that note, Navarro said that he is wary of giving citizenship to all of the estimated 800,000 Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) recipients, which Congress is expected to decide on as part of the budget deal before the Jan. 19 deadline.

His opponent has publicly stated her support citizenship of all DACA recipients.

Navarro said that he is not in favor of mass deportation of DACA recipients, but rather considering them individually for citizenship based on how they have assimilated into American society, and after they have gone through the immigration process as legal immigrants would.

"We are not going to give them the right to vote after coming here through illegal means and not learning what it means to be an American."

Watch Omar Navarro talk about his run for Congress here:

Pentagon Panicked: Clinton ‘Loss' Exposed As Four Star General Recounts Deadly Incompetence
[ConservativeDailyPress] While the liberal media peddles falsehoods that President Donald Trump is mentally unfit for office, a new report shows that former President Bill Clinton’s shady habits put our nation at risk.

With North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un threatening to launch nuclear warheads at the U.S. ‐ to which Trump has vowed to defend America and its allies at all costs ‐ it is vital to control the United States’ 6,800 nuclear warheads.

In a new book from by Gen. Hugh Shelton, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff for three years while Clinton was in office, Clinton reportedly lost the nuclear launch codes required to authorize a nuclear strike, leaving the U.S. vulnerable to an attack.

some people are alive only because it's illegal to kill them...
the Afghan intelligence, National Directorate of Security (NDS), in a statement said Monday that it condemns the recent remarks by Gilani regarding the Taliban group leadership. The statement further added that the Taliban group leadership council members are all based on the other side of the Durand Line and in key cities of Pakistain.

NDS in statement also added that the international community also has a well understanding regarding the issue regarding the Taliban safe havens in Pakistain.

This comes as a senior US State Department official said last week that "We believe that there is significant evidence that leadership of the Haqqani Network resides inside Pakistain and is able to plan and execute from Pakistain attacks inside Afghanistan. So the disagreement is much more about those facts than it is on our overarching goals in the strategy. And we need them to address these sanctuaries in order for us to be able to be enabled to succeed in Afghanistan."

Yale psychiatry professor who wanted President Trump ‘contained' vanishes from Twitter
[Twitchy] Yale assistant professor of psychiatry Bandy X. Lee made a huge splash in the media last week after meeting with a handful of Democrats in Congress to sound the alarm over the president’s mental fitness to serve.

Lee has appeared on MSNBC and SiriusXM, and pieces about her appeared in Vox, Politico, and The Guardian, all of which she retweeted, having just joined Twitter "to inform people where they may have questions."

Lee tweeted over the weekend that she was demanding a correction to a "wildly speculative and inaccurate article" in The Weekly Standard questioning her "meeting" with a Republican senator, but that tweet has disappeared, along with her entire Twitter account. The whole thing’s been shut down.
Turns out her "expert opinion" is not universally held in high esteem, at least per the comments.

The robbers also took CCTV camera footage and locked the main door of the bank before they left.

According to police, the night guard was found tied with a rope when the bank was opened in the morning. The guard, Hidayatullah, was taken into custody for investigation.

Police is still searching for Saddam and his accomplice, Senior Superintendent of Police Irfan Baloch said.

Iraq
Maliki rejects joint electoral list with Abadi: Dawa Party
[ARABNEWS] Former Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki will participate in the forthcoming parliamentary election, but refuses to do so as part of a joint electoral list with his successor Haider Abadi, big shots of the Islamic Dawa Party told Arab News.

Both Abadi and Maliki belong to the party. The current prime minister replaced his predecessor in September 2014 following widespread opposition to Maliki’s desire for a third term. Tensions between the two have persisted ever since.

So far, 205 political parties and 12 registered alliances will participate in the election, which is due to take place on May 12, the Independent High Electoral Commission told Arab News.

Ali Alaq, a Dawa leader, told Arab News that the party "wants to participate in the election in one electoral list."

This "will preserve the interests of the party and won’t disperse the (electoral) votes, but Maliki has another opinion," Alaq said.

But Maliki’s political adviser Abbas Mossowie told Arab News: "Participating in two electoral lists, one headed by Maliki and the other by Abadi, has been discussed during recent party meetings."

Mossowie added: "The final decision hasn’t been made yet, but the majority (of the party) supports having two lists. Maliki prefers to run the election in two lists."

The rebuilding of the security establishment, the retaking of territory lost to ISIS and the Kurds, and increased international and regional support for Abadi’s government, contributed to his nomination as head of Dawa’s electoral list, party leaders told Arab News.

"Abadi is more worthy than anyone else to head the list. Our field research suggests he has a great chance at re-election as head of the next government," a Dawa leader told Arab News on condition of anonymity.

"There’s almost an international, Arab and popular consensus on Abadi. He deserves to win another term to finish his work on the economy, fight corruption and rebuild liberated areas."

Maliki believes that Abadi, Dawa and his Shiite rivals betrayed him when they opposed him having a third term even though he gained the most votes in the 2014 election.

Pakistan warns US over military offensive against Taliban
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] As the US military is gearing up to increase pressures on Taliban
...Arabic for students...
through military offensives as part of the new US strategy, the Pak officials have reportedly warned Washington regarding the negative consequences in the event the military operation does not yield any positive result.

According to reports, Islamabad has told US interlocutors that a major military offensive against the Taliban from both sides of the Afghan border, if ending in failure, will have negative consequences for the entire region.

According to Pakistain’s Dawn News, citing diplomatic sources, the key element in the new US strategy for Afghanistan is to launch a two-pronged military offensive that inflicts a military defeat on the Taliban and forces them to join the Afghan reconciliation process on Kabul’s conditions.

This comes as the foreign minister of Pakistain Khwajah Asif has told the Wall Street Journal that Islamabad would not allow the Afghan war to be fought on Pakistain’s soil.

"We have relative calm in Pakistain at the moment," Asif said. "But if we go against these people [Afghan krazed killers], then the war will again be fought on our soil, which will suit the Americans," he added.

In the meantime, pressures are on the rise on Islamabad to act against the Afghan Taliban, Haqqani network, and other bully boyz having safe havens in Pakistain.

The US President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
last week criticized Pakistain in strong words for harboring the terrorist groups despite receiving billions in aid to support the counter-terrorism efforts in Afghanistan.

FBI probe of 'Antifa ideology' underway, Wray tells House panel
[FOXNEWS] The FBI is investigating people inspired by "kind of an Antifa
...the armed wing of the Democratic Party...
ideology," bureau Director Christopher Wray said Thursday.

Wray told members of the House Homeland Security Committee that people associated with the so-called anti-fascist
...anybody not a leftist...
or Antifa movement were subject to the FBI probe amid possible violent criminal activity.

"While we're not investigating Antifa as Antifa ‐ that's an ideology and we don't investigate ideologies ‐ we are investigating a number of what we would call anarchist-extremist investigations, where we have properly predicated subjects of people who are motivated to commit violent criminal activity on kind of an Antifa ideology," he told the House panel.

Wray said the FBI was investigating about 1,000 domestic terror cases and all were based on threats rather than "ideology, opinion or rhetoric." He added that out of about 1,000 open domestic terror investigations, all are focused on actual physical threats.

Coordinated violence
Antifa has gained prominence since last year following the violent festivities across the U.S. on university campuses and other gatherings. The loosely connected left-wing group of Antifa supporters has been criticized for using coordinated violence against people they deem to be espousing far-right ideology.

Federal agencies reportedly warned in 2016 about the possible outbreak of violent festivities or "domestic terrorist violence" perpetrated by the anarchists.

The FBI and Department of Homeland Security said that "anarchist myrmidons" and Antifa groups were the leading instigators of violence in public spaces, where they attack police, government and political institutions, racists, fascists and "symbols of capitalism," Fox News reported.

Turkey to extend state of emergency for sixth time
[IsraelTimes] The Ottoman Turkish government says it plans to extend the state of emergency imposed after the 2016 failed coup for the sixth time, despite criticism that it is used to target Ankara’s critics.

Deputy Prime Minister Bekir Bozdag says the state of emergency will be "extended one more time" for three months and would be discussed at the next National Security Council meeting. The latest extension is set to end on January 19.

The emergency was introduced a few days after the attempted overthrow of Erdogan on July 15, 2016, blamed on the group led by US-based Islamic preacher Fethullah Gülen
... a Turkish preacher living in Pennsylvania whom the current govt of Turkey considers responsible for all the ills afflicting Turkey and possibly the entire world...
Gulen denies the charges but authorities have used the emergency measures to crack down on those alleged to have links to his movement as well as outlawed Kurdish Death Eaters.

Afghanistan
Abdullah reacts at Afghan MP’s remarks about Ahmadshah Massoud
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] The chief executive of the national unity government Abdullah Abdullah
... the former foreign minister of the Northern Alliance government, advisor to Masood, and candidate for president against Karzai. Dr. Abdullah was born in Kabul and is half Tadjik and half Pashtun...
reacted at the recent remarks of an Afghan MP regarding the national hero Ahmadshah Massoud as he insisted on unity among the people.

Speaking during a meeting of the council of ministers in Kabul, Abdullah said the national hero’s role has been internationally recognized, emphasizing that the nation should respect the sacrifices of all Afghans who have laid their lives for the sake of the country.

This comes as an Afghan MP in the Lower House of the Parliament, Wolesi Jirga, Obaidullah Barekzai, had earlier said that Ahmadshah Massoud is the hero only for Panjshir province.

Barekzai went on to claim that Massoud only fought to keep Panjshir province safe and has not fought in other parts of the country.

The chief executive of Jamaat-e-Islami
Ata Mohammad Noor on Sunday also condemned the recent remarks against Ahmad Massoud.

Speaking to his supporters in Balkh province, Noor said Massoud has fought against all invaders and against thousands of forces of Evil who had came from abroad to fight the Afghans.

On the other hand, the deputy speaker of the Upper House of the Parliament, Meshrano Jirga, Mohammad Alam Izadyar also reacted at the remarks of Mr. Izadyar regarding Massoud.

He specifically pointed towards the growing controversies about the new census law that sparked divisions among the different ethnic groups and said mentioning the name of the national hero in connection to such controversies is an unfortunate move against the nation.

Addressing a presser in Lahore following a meeting with key opposition leaders, Qadri regretted that Punjab

"Now we will not ask for resignations, but will take them ourselves. We will not stop at resignations but will bring down the PML-N government too," Qadri said.

The PAT chief believes the incumbent government has lost its moral standing and should have been dissolved. "Now we will kick off nationwide protests in a bid to topple the PML-N government," he said.

Trouble brewing
[DAWN] PRESIDENT Trump’s New Year tweet has sent the Pakistain-US relationship into a tailspin. Incidentally, the decision to cut assistance to Pakistain had been in the works for some time. In fact, when this US administration came into office, there was chatter about "giving Pakistain a year" to see if things changed for the better. The year is just about up.

Last week’s decision isn’t a one-off. What we’ve witnessed is an initiation of a brinkmanship exercise ‐ the firing of an opening salvo that declares intent to impose pain on Pakistain to get it to deliver on America’s principal ask: action against the Afghan Taliban
...Arabic for students...
and Haqqani network.

Brinkmanship is a battle of nerves in which both sides believe they have more resolve to stay the course than the opponent. Failure to get the opposite number to cave in adds to the pressure to try harder in the next move. Neither actor necessarily wants a total breakdown, but in the process of out-nerving the other, either can make a miscalculation.

The pressure to climb the escalation ladder was built into the US’s first move as it was sure to draw a blank. Even proponents of last week’s decision in Washington who argue that Pakistain can be moulded by leveraging US assistance agree that withdrawing security aid and the Coalition Support Funds was going to do little to deliver any strategic gains for the US. The fiscal year 2017’s appropriated amount of US security assistance to Pakistain was around $300 million. Actual disbursements are often lower. CSF authorisation was around $1 billion annually for fiscal years 2015-17, but between a third and a half of it was already conditioned on Pakistain’s anti-terrorism performance and withheld.

CJP takes notice of delay in Tayyaba torture case
[DAWN] Chief Justice of Pakistain (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar on Monday took notice of a delay in the trial of the alleged torture of minor domestic worker Taiba in Islamabad, demanding an explanation for the hold-up from the Islamabad High Court (IHC) registrar.

The case of 10-year-old Taiba, a domestic worker at the home of former additional district and sessions judge Raja Khurram Ali and his wife Maheen, first came to light after photos of the child depicting alleged torture by her employers began circulating on social media.

Taiba was rescued from their residence with visible wounds on Dec 28, 2016 and a first information report was filed against her employers a day later.

Ali reached a compromise with Taiba's parents on Jan 2, 2017, and a day later the child was handed over to her parents. On Jan 4, however, the apex court took suo motu
...a legal term, from the Latin. Roughly translated it means I saw what you did, you bastard...
notice of the matter and directed police to investigate all aspects of the case.

The Supreme Court in a hearing on Jan 11 then observed that the role of a lawyer, Raja Zahoor Hassan, was of key interest with regards to an 'illegitimate compromise' reached between the suspects and the child’s family.

CJP Nisar had insisted there was no doubt that a criminal act had been committed in the case and directed police to investigate the preparation of the compromise deed as well as matters related to internal trafficking of child labourers.

After the police in their report had focused only on the child's abuse and the possible involvement of the suspects, the SC expressed displeasure with the investigation of the case and referred it back to the IHC for further deliberation.

During today's hearing, Raja Khurram Ali's lawyer said that the case had not been resolved because the IHC refused to accept an out-of-court settlement between the accused and Taiba's parents.

The CJP turned down his argument, saying, "When parents fail [to fulfill their duty] the court has to take their place".

Afghanistan urges Iran to halt use of its nationals as mercenaries in Syria
[ARABNEWS] Afghanistan has called on Iran to stop sending Afghan refugees as mercenaries of its proxy war in Syria, after it was revealed that more than 2,000 Afghan combatants had been killed in the war so far.

"The Afghan government opposes any kind of proxy war. As we dismiss proxy war in Afghanistan, we announce our opposition to proxy war in other countries as well," Shah Hussien Murtazawi, chief front man for President Ashraf Ghani
...former chancellor of Kabul University, now president of Afghanistan. Before returning to Afghanistan in 2002 he was a scholar of political science and anthropology. He worked at the World Bank working on international development assistance. As Finance Minister of Afghanistan between July 2002 and December 2004, he led Afghanistan's attempted economic recovery until the Karzais stole all the money. ..
, told Arab News.

"The blood of this country’s sons should not be spilt to further the goals and expansionist designs of a few countries ... Afghan sentiments and vulnerabilities should not be exploited for their (Iran’s) goals and objectives."

In a rare confession, an Afghan official with the "Fatemiyoun Brigade," which is composed of Afghan Shiites recruited in Iran, at the weekend said that more than 2,000 Iranian-trained members of the force had bit the dust in support of Bashir al-Assad’s regime.

The official, Zohair Mojahed, who was quoted initially by Iranian media and later became a source for Afghan press too, said that more than 8,000 Afghans had been maimed during Syria’s five-year war.

Jordan thwarts Daesh plot
[ARABNEWS] Jordan said on Monday that it thwarted a ISIS plot that included plans for a series of attacks last November on security installations, shopping malls and moderate religious figures, state media reported.

State news agency Petra said that the country’s intelligence department had tossed in the calaboose
Book 'im, Mahmoud!
17 members of the cell and confiscated weapons and explosives that the murderous Moslem group had planned to use in the operation.

The statement said the cell had staged a series of bank robberies and car thefts to finance the plot, and manufactured homemade explosives from material bought at local markets. Members of the cell robbed banks in the cities of Russayfah and Zarqa, to the northeast of the capital Amman.

Investigations revealed that the terrorist cell had prepared comprehensive plans for executing its operations, conducted surveillance operations to examine targets, and developed a mechanism for carrying out their attacks.

Mahmoud Irdaizat, a retired Jordanian major general and a former director of the Center for Strategic Studies at the King Abdullah II Academy for Defense Studies, told Arab News on Monday that despite the terrorist militia’s defeat in Iraq and in Syria, it was still active ideologically and had sympathizers and supporters in many places.

"ISIS (ISIS) has collapsed geographically and its so-called Islamic state is pronounced dead in Iraq and in Syria, but it continues to be active in various places across the globe, be it in Jordan or in Sinai or even in the West.

"I don’t think we should just sit and relax after their (terrorists) collapse in djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
and Raqqa. Any reluctance to keep pressure on them would lead them to grow stronger again. What is needed now is a formulated international strategy to counter the terrorists’ ideology, with a collective international effort to persuade new generations not to embrace ISIS thought," he said.

Sudanese students stone police on third day of bread price protests
[ARABNEWS] Hundreds of Sudanese students on Monday threw rocks at riot police and were met with tear gas salvos on the third consecutive days of protests over a doubling in bread prices, witnesses said.

They said police formed a cordon to force more than 300 marchers onto the campus of Khartoum University, the largest in Sudan, and continued to fire tear gas at students chanting, "No, no, no to price rises!"

A smaller number of protesters gathered in Kosti, Sudan’s biggest Nile river port 350 km (217 miles) south of the capital, but were dispersed by baton-wielding police.

Street protests broke out across the sprawling northeastern African country after bread prices doubled following a government announcement late last month that it was eliminating subsidies in its 2018 budget.

A high school student was killed and six others maimed on Sunday in the southwestern city of Geneina. Authorities did not give a cause of death but said investigations were under way.

This month Sudan devalued its pound currency to 18 per US dollar from 6.7 pounds to the dollar previously.

Amid the continuing unrest, the exchange rate on the black market hit about 29.5 pounds to the dollar on Monday, compared with 28 pounds to the dollar a day before.

Radical Alt-Left Militia Leader Now In FBI Custody On Illegal Weapons Charges
[Gateway Pundit] Anti-capitalist militia group Guerrilla Mainframe released a statement stating that one of their organizers, a man named Rakem Balogun, was taken into custody after a raid by FBI and ATF agents on December 11, 2017.

Balogun, according to the statement issued by Guerrilla Mainframe, held leadership roles in various far-left organizations and militia units, including Geronimo Tactical, Huey P. Newton Gun Club, and of course, Guerrilla Mainframe.

Part of the group’s statement reads:
The F.B.I. report detailing the perceived BIE threat specifically discusses the shooting of Dallas police officers in July 2016. The document was prepared by the F.B.I Domestic Terrorism Analysis Unit, and has shown an effort to "criminalize" political organizers with progressive and revolutionary ethics. The Trump administration and prior Presidents have made their desire to derail black revolutionaries through declarations and actions crystal clear. Our struggle as change agents is to instruct and liberate the masses with revolutionary discourse, and we will continue to do so.

Far Left Watch did some digging on the various groups that Balogun is associated with. Geronimo Tactical did not have a website, but the group does have a Facebook page with around 800 members. It’s a closed group, but they do have a public statement:

DOJ Official Linked To Trump Dossier Leaves Another High-Level Post
[DailyCaller] A Justice Department official who was demoted last month after he was found to have links to the Trump dossier has left a second high-level position at the agency, The Daily Caller has confirmed.

At the beginning of last month, Bruce Ohr held two positions at DOJ: associate deputy attorney general and director of the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF).

Fox News first reported on Monday that Ohr will no longer lead OCDETF. A Justice Department spokeswoman confirmed Ohr’s separation from that division but did not say whether Ohr resigned or was removed from the position.
H.R. running a little over budget lately?
Ohr’s job as associate deputy attorney general put him just a few office doors down from Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, who is overseeing Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russian meddling in the presidential campaign.

But Ohr was removed from that position early last month after it was revealed that in 2016, he met separately with Christopher Steele, the author of the dossier, and with Glenn Simpson, the founder of the opposition research firm that commissioned the salacious document.

Fox News first reported that Ohr met before the election with Steele, a former MI6 agent. He met just after the election with Simpson, who operates Fusion GPS. Ohr’s wife, a former CIA employee and Russia expert named Nellie Ohr, worked for Fusion GPS to investigate Trump during the campaign.

Simpson, a former Wall Street Journal reporter, told the House Intelligence Committee in November that he had met with Ohr.

Fox News has reported that the Justice Department was not aware of Ohr’s links to Fusion GPS and the dossier.

Ohr is slated to meet with the House Intelligence Committee on Wednesday, Jan. 17. Rosenstein, the deputy attorney general, agreed last week to make Ohr and several other DOJ and FBI officials available for interviews with the House panel.

Iraq
Iraqi government orders probe into Kurdistan region's oil exports
[ARABNEWS] The Iraqi parliament on Monday launched an investigation into the quantities of oil exported by the Kurdish regional government (KRG) during the past three years from Kirkuk’s oil fields and the Kurdish region.

It is seeking to prosecute officials involved in oil smuggling and to monitor their bank accounts inside and outside of Iraq.

KRG took advantage of the dramatic collapse of the Iraqi Army in June 2014 to drive Iraqi security forces out of the northern oil hub city of Kirkuk,

its lucrative oil fields and all the nearby disputed areas. It seized control of oil exports from the area until Oct. 26 when Baghdad launched a huge military offensive to drive Kurdish forces into the Kurdish region.

KRG has been exporting an average of 400,000-650,000 bpd from Kirkuk and the fields of the Kurdish region, but exports have halved since October as the federal government in Baghdad imposed a series of punitive measures including banning international flights from and to the region and shut down the border crossings between the region and The Sick Man of Europe Turkey

The General People’s Congress, a key player in Yemeni politics for decades, elected former deputy premier Sadiq Amin Aburas by consensus at a meeting of its general committee, it said in a statement.

It made no mention of the Houthis, but said it would continue to "reject and resist aggression and siege" against Yemen, a reference to a military campaign being waged since 2015 by a Saudi-led coalition.

Aburas, 65, is seen as having been close to Saleh, the long-time Yemeni strongman killed by Houthi button men on Dec 4 after their alliance collapsed.

Saleh held power in the Arabian Peninsula country for three decades before being ousted in 2012 following mass protests.

In late 2017, the Saleh-Houthi alliance fell apart after Saleh offered to "turn the page" with Riyadh in return for a ceasefire and the lifting of a crippling blockade.

That sparked fighting in the streets of Sanaa, and Saleh was bumped off as he tried to flee.

The GPC said Aburas would lead it until its next general assembly, a date for which could not yet be set "because of the current difficulties". Aburas also heads the party’s five-member executive committee.

Syria regime unleashes its brutal air power on Idlib
[ARABNEWS] Regime forces upped the pressure on two of the last opposition bastions in Syria, with Arclight airstrikes in Idlib province and a move to break a siege near Damascus Monday.

Syrian and Russian aircraft pounded targets in the northwestern region of Idlib, pressing a week-old operation targeting the last province in the country to escape government control.

Raids Sunday left "at least 21 dead, including eight children and 11 members of the same family" west of the town of Sinjar in the southeast of the province, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.

"Regime and Russian strikes are continuing today on several parts of Idlib" province, Rami Abdel Rahman, the head of the Britannia-based monitoring organization, told AFP.

Russian-backed regime forces launched an operation on the edge of Idlib province in the last days of 2017 and have retaken villages every day since.

An kaboom on Sunday in the city of Idlib at a base for the group Ajnad al-Qawqaz made up of fighters from the Caucasus that operates alongside HTS, left at least 34 dead, including 19 civilians, the Observatory said.

The initial corpse count for the attack, the origins of which remain unclear, was 23 but the number went up on Monday when more bodies were found in the wreckage.

Abdel Rahman said the casualty count could yet rise because more victims were believed to be buried under the rubble and many of the maimed were at death's door.

Iran FM warns neighbours, says they seeking unrest in Iran
[DAWN] Iran's foreign minister on Monday warned neighbouring countries over fomenting insecurity in Iran in a reference to anti-government protests that have roiled the country over the past two weeks.

The remarks by Mohammad Javad Zarif at a security conference in Tehran echoed the Iranian authorities' stance, which alleges that foreign powers including regional rival Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
stirred up unrest linked to the protests.

"Some countries tried to misuse the recent incidents," Zarif said without blaming any specific country, and added that "no country can create a secure environment for itself at the expense of creating insecurity among its neighbours."

"Such efforts" will only backfire, the official IRNA news agency quoted Zarif as saying.

The anti-government demonstrations first broke out in Mashhad, Iran's second-largest city, on Dec 28 and later spread to several other cities and towns.

The protests were the largest seen in Iran since the disputed 2009 presidential election. They were sparked by a hike in food prices amid soaring unemployment but some demonstrators later called for the government's overthrow and chanted against the country's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

US conveys 'concrete' steps Pakistan must take to resume security aid flow
[DAWN] The United States has told Pakistain what it must do if it wants Washington to resume paying out hundreds of millions of dollars in security aid, the Pentagon said on Monday.

"Our expectations are straightforward," Pentagon front man Colonel Rob Manning told news hounds.

"Taliban
...Arabic for students...
and Haqqani leadership and attack planners should no longer be able to find safe haven or conduct operations from Pak soil."

Last week, President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
froze payments from the "Coalition Support Fund" for Pakistain, worth $900 million, saying Pakistain is not doing enough to target Afghan Taliban and Haqqani group bases.

The coalition funding is set aside to refund Pak spending on counter-terrorism operations.

Also in question is almost $1 billion of US military equipment that has allowed Pakistain access to advanced military technology.

"The United States has conveyed to Pakistain specific and concrete steps that it could take," Manning said.

"We stand ready to work with Pakistain to combat terrorist groups without distinction. We will continue these conversations with the Pak government in private."

Pentagon officials are watching to see if Pakistain is going to retaliate against the US by cutting supply lines to US troops from its port at Bloody Karachi
...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It is among the largest cities in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous...
into Afghanistan.

So far, Manning said, there was no sign Islamabad was preparing to take that course of action. He stressed that the suspension of funding was not permanent "at this time" and that the money was not being diverted elsewhere.

Major donor reconsiders support for Democrats who urged Franken to quit
[STARTRIBUNE] A prominent donor to the Democratic Party says she is considering withdrawing support for senators who urged their colleague Al Franken to resign after he was accused of sexual misconduct.

of Massachusetts and Maria Cantwell of Washington.

Last month, those senators were among the dozens who called for Franken to resign from the Senate after at least six women accused him of sexual harassment or misconduct, such as forcible kissing and groping.

Franken announced his resignation on Dec. 7 before the Senate Ethics Committee had completed a review of the accusations, which he disputed.

Before he was elected to the Senate to represent Minnesota in 2008, Franken was a well-known comedian and a cast member on "Saturday Night Live." After he resigned, Lt. Gov. Tina Smith of Minnesota was named as his replacement.

Buell said in a text message on Saturday that withdrawing support from the senators who called for his resignation was "an option" she was considering.

"In my gut they moved too fast," she wrote. Franken "was never given his chance to tell his side of the story."

April Ryan slammed on Twitter for gushing over Oprah Winfrey: ‘Shame on you'
At the rate Oprah’s cable network is losing market share and viewers in the the key 18-49 demographic, it doesn’t seem likely she will be able to find many voters when the time comes. But let her run — the money pumped into the economy from her checkbook and others can only benefit the rest of us as it circulates.
[FoxNews] American Urban Radio Networks correspondent April Ryan was slammed on Monday for a tweet praising how wonderful a president Oprah Winfrey would make if she decided to challenge President Trump in 2020.

"If @Oprah ran for president in 2020, she is every person. She has been poor & now rich. She is also a self made Billionaire. She has a grasp of the issues as she used to cover local politics. She can articulate any issue and she has mass appeal beyond race & gender," Ryan tweeted.

The comments beneath Ryan’s tweet indicate that not everyone agrees with Ryan, who is also a CNN correspondent. One user asked, "In 2018 is it really too much to expect that POTUS have some minimum experience in law, governing, and/or policy making?"

It appears President Trump has the left feeling that people should have some political experience before occupying the White House. Winfrey, 63, won’t have a ton of time to pick up any political experience before it’s time to start campaigning for the 2020 election and many of Ryan’s followers feel that would essentially rule her out.

Some claimed the Democrats have a "deep bench," while one user simply wrote, "She's a celebrity. No. Thanks."

"I'd like to see her run for Congressperson, Senator, or Governor and get some governing experience under her belt," another commented, and another added, "Stop. This is patently ridiculous and you should know better. Shame on you."

Others were nicer about it, but most responses had the same theme: "Do we really need another charismatic figure without legislative knowledge? Really?"

"April, I love Oprah, and everything you said is true but what the US needs is someone with governing experience. Celebrities are good for bringing light to issues and Oprah is an amazing fundraiser and surrogate but she has as much federal political experience as Trump," another follower wrote.
The twitter comments indicate Ms. Ryan's "followers" ("A truer word...") are not President Trump fans. But some are ironically entertaining.

MS-13 Gang Member Stabbed Girl to Death, Sliced Off Her Tatoo
[IllegalAlienCrimeReport] A teenager who sought to avenge the death of her boyfriend and told a 15-year-old girl she would "see her in hell" before stabbing her 13 times pleaded guilty Monday to the brutal slaying that raised the spotlight on MS-13’s presence in the suburbs of the nation’s capital.

Venus Romero Iraheta, who was 17 at the time of the January 2017 murder, pleaded guilty in a Virginia courtroom as an adult in the murder of Damaris Alexandra Reyes Rivas, the Washington Post reported.

Iraheta, now 18, faces a a maximum of life in prison plus 20 years when she is sentenced on May 25.

The January 2017 killing of Reyes Rivas, which ultimately resulted in the arrest of 18 young people, highlighted the brutal nature of one of the nation’s most violent and powerful street gangs, according to the prosecution.

Reyes Rivas was taken from Maryland to a Virginia park where she was stabbed with a knife and jabbed with a stick by a large group of MS-13 members. Her body was eventually discovered after it was dumped under a highway overpass on the outskirts of Washington, D.C.

Federal prosecutors said Iraheta was the primary attacker, stabbing the 15-year-old 13 times and slicing off one of her tattoos, according to NBC Washington.
Not excusing the crime, but I doubt it said "Mom"

"She told the victim she would never forgive her," FBI Agent Fernando Uribe said in courtroom testimony. "She would ’see her in hell.’ She would never forget her name."

Uribe testified in July that Jose Cerrato, a 17-year-old alleged gang member, filmed and narrated the killing on a cellphone with the intention of sending the footage to MS-13 leaders in El Salvador.

It’s unclear if the video was ever sent to El Salvador, but Uribe testified that Cerrato was promoted in the gang for his role in the murder, The Washington Post reported at the time.

In October, three MS-13 affiliates pleaded guilty to their roles in the savage death.

As part of a deal with prosecutors, Cindy Blanco Hernandez, 19, Aldair J. Miranda Carcamo, 18, and Emerson Fugon Lopez, 17, pleaded guilty to a host of charges that included abduction and, in two instances, gang participation. They are expected to be sentenced May 5, 2018.

Southeast Asia
Another Marawi-type siege may be coming, says Philippines
[ARABNEWS] Troops should prepare for a possible repeat of the Marawi siege in "another city" in the country, Philippine Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana told them on Monday.

Lorenzana admitted that more foreign turbans are reported to have entered Mindanao.

In a speech during the Philippine Army Special Operations Command (SOCOM) turnover ceremony here, the defense chief warned the troops that they will again be called upon later on, or "maybe immediately" as there’s still "some work to do in Mindanao.

"It is not far-fetched that one of these days they (ISIS-inspired turbans) will again hold another city for quite some time."

Lorenzana made the statement after a petition urged the Supreme Court to stop the year-long extension of martial law in Mindanao. The petitioners claimed martial law has no factual and legal basis.

But in a news conference after the turnover ceremony, the defense chief expressed readiness to defend the extension of martial law as there is "continuing rebellion" in the southern Philippines.

"It started in May and continued until October. It is the belief of the armed forces and the police that there is continuing reorganization of the rebellious forces. They would again conduct a Marawi-type operation some time in the future. I also believe that," Lorenzana said.

He added that "the rebellious forces were not all killed in Marawi." Quite a number, according to the defense chief, "were able to extricate themselves, and they (now) are somewhere there in Mindanao.

"Some of them are in Central Mindanao, some are in Lanao," Lorenzana said.

Based on reports from the military, the police and also from civilians, recruitment is in progress and there are also small groups conducting training.

"So we will address those during this martial law extension," Lorenza stated.

When asked to confirm a statement by a Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) official on the arrival of more imported muscle in Mindanao, Lorenzana said: "That is also what we got and we are trying to confirm it. That’s also another reason why it bolsters our argument to extend the martial law."

Lorenzana noted that if it is confirmed that more foreign turbans have entered the country, "the more we are going to do it strictly in Mindanao, fighting against them using martial law."

Mohagher Iqbal, chair of the MILF peace panel, earlier told Arab News that despite the liberation of Marawi City in October last year, ISIS-oriented groups in Mindanao have not been completely defeated.

"And as far as an intelligence report is concerned, their recruitment is ongoing in Mindanao," he said. "Expect that they will surface once again."

The MILF official added that "reports of the arrival of ISIS personalities from the Middle East is very much happening in Mindanao, especially in the island province of Sulu and Basilan
...Basilan is a rugged, jungle-covered island in the southern Philippines. It is a known stronghold of the Abu Sayyaf, bandidos, and maybe even orcs. Most people with any sense travel with armed escorts...

In 2007 TNSM took over Swat, which shows how well the banning worked. TNSM is the Pony League of Islamic militancy..

In today's hearing, Sufi Muhammad claimed that he should be released "as his health is deteriorating with each passing day."

The TNSM chief has been kept imprisoned since his arrest in 2009, when the final phase of a military operation against snuffies was launched in the Malakand region.

A number of cases were registered against Sufi Muhammad; however, in each case, witnesses against him had either died or could not be traced.

Dem-ordered study to expose illegal online gun sales backfires
More on this story from yesterday.
[FOXNEWS] A Democrat-backed study meant to expose illicit online gun sales instead seemed to show the opposite -- with hardly any sellers taking the bait when undercover Sherlocks tried to set up dozens of illegal firearm transactions.

Rep. Elijah Cummings
...Representative-for-life from Maryland, representing half of Baltimore City, which makes his district ultra-safe, and most of Howard County, which is out-populated by the city. Cummings' politix are so liberal they're tedious...
, D-Md., as well as Sens. Elizabeth Fauxchahontas Warren
...Dem Senatrix from Massachussetts, who traces her noble lineage all the way back to Big Chief Spouting Bull. It has been alleged that she speaks with forked tongue but she denies that...
, D-Mass., and Brian Schatz, D-Hawaii, had commissioned the Government Accountability Office report to look into how online private dealers might be selling guns to people not allowed to have them.

Their efforts were based on a 2016 report from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), which claimed that "anonymity of the internet makes it an ideal means for prohibited individuals to obtain illegal firearms."

"Congressional requesters asked that GAO access the extent to which ATF is enforcing existing laws and investigate whether online private sellers sell firearms to be people who are not allowed or eligible to possess a firearm," the GAO report said.

Over the course of the two-and-a-half year investigation, agents tried to buy firearms illegally on the "Surface Web" and the "Dark Web," generally by sharing their status as "prohibited individuals" or trying to buy across state lines.

But the GAO revealed that their 72 attempts outside of the dark web were all "unsuccessful."

"Private sellers on Surface Web gun forums and in classified ads were unwilling to sell a firearm to our agents that self-identified as being prohibited from possessing a firearm," the GAO reported, noting that in their "72 attempts ... 56 sellers refused to complete a transaction once we revealed that either the shipping address was across state lines or that we were prohibited by law from owning firearms." In the other cases, the Sherlocks' website was frozen or they encountered suspected scammers.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Two Bedouin women planned terror attack against Israelis
[Ynet] Tasnin al-Assad contacted ISIS operative online, who instructed her to scout locations in Be'er Sheva for possible bombing; she was aided by Rahma al-Assad; the two also contacted east Jerusalem resident Ahmad Abu Ramila in effort to convince him to carry out New Year's Eve attack; all three planned to travel to Sinai to join ISIS.

The Shin Bet and the Israel Police have nabbed
Keep yer hands where we can see 'em, if yez please!
two 19-year-old Bedouin women suspected of planning to carry out terror attacks on behalf of the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS), it was cleared for publication on Monday.

The two, Rahma al-Assad and Tasnin al-Assad, Israeli citizens from the Bedouin town of Lakiya, were arrested in December 2017.

According to the Shin Bet, over the last year the two planned to carry out a terror attack against Jews in Israel and considered various options to that end.

They were also in contact with ISIS-affiliated terror operatives from abroad and were instructed by some of these contacts to carry out tasks in preparation for an attack, according to the indictment against them.

Tasnin al-Assad allegedly used the Telegram app to talk to a man identifying as "Sheikh Qassim," an ISIS online operative. She purchased a SIM card especially to that end.

During their conversations, Sheikh Qassim broached the possibility of carrying out an attack in Israel, and Tasnin expressed willingness to aid him in that endeavor.

Sheikh Qassim asked Tasnin to examine the entrances and security arrangements at three Be'er Sheva locations: Ben-Gurion University, the Kaye Academic College of Education and the Central Bus Station.

Tasnin told her ISIS contact that many Moslems pass through the Be'er Sheva Central Bus Station on a daily basis, recommending against targeting that location as an attack there might harm them.

At some point, Tasnin contacted Rahma al-Assad and the two scouted Ben-Gurion University and the Kaye Academic College of Education to gather intelligence ahead of a planned bombing that entailed bringing a suitcase with explosives into one or both of these academic institutions.

The two women reached the conclusion the security arrangements in both locations were too strict to carry out such an attack.

The Shin Bet investigation further revealed the two women planned to travel to the Sinai Peninsula and join ISIS. To that end, they had passports issued.

They also posted content online praising ISIS as well as inciting to terrorism against Jews in general and Israel in particular.

The defendants also allegedly tried to convince 24-year-old Ahmad Abu Ramila from east Jerusalem
...who clearly was not Israeli, or the reporter would have said so...
to carry out a religiously-motivated attack on New Year's Eve.

Ramila was indicted for contact with a foreign agent, conspiring to commit a crime (membership in a terror organization), obstruction of justice and evidence tempering.

Ramila, according to the indictment, was a member of several Telegram groups affiliated with ISIS. He also allegedly planned to marry Tasnin and travel to Sinai with her to join ISIS.

When he became concerned of the possibility Rahma and Tasnin have been arrested, he deleted his conversations with them in an effort to cover his tracks.
But if he did not also delete his cookies and his history... Truly Israel is blessed in the caliber of her enemies.

Reason Celebrates 'Little Mogadishu'
A taste.
[FrontPage] Not all that many years ago, the worst things you could say about Minneapolis were that it was very cold in the winter and, for an American city of its size, it was somewhat dull. On the plus side, this traditionally Scandinavian-American burg was a model of safety and cleanliness.

Well, that's ancient history. Minneapolis is now the world's #2 capital of Somali Muslims. (#1 is Mogadishu.) In the Somali community, unemployment and welfare dependency rates are high. The city is a major recruiting center for ISIS. At least a couple of ISIS recruits have used taxpayer-funded student loans to fly to the Middle East to become jihadists; many other local Somalis are suspected of wiring welfare cash to terrorist groups. Violent crime is epidemic: as recently as December 13, a Somali Muslim immigrant stabbed a Minneapolis woman no fewer than fourteen times on her way home from work.

None of this has kept government officials and news media from boasting of the success of Somali integration. Last February, CNN ran a collection of photographs designed to show just how delightful a contribution Somalis have made to Minnesota. In August, Ibrahim Hirsi of the Minnesota Post lauded the "Somali community's success" in the state. Hirsi's article began by summarizing the "classic American success story" of one Abdirahman Kahin, who emigrated to the U.S. two decades ago and, after founding a restaurant called Afro Deli in 2010, built it up into "one of the most successful immigrant-owned businesses in the state."

The Minneapolis Star-Tribune routinely waxes effusive over all the cultural enrichment: last March, in a glowing portrait of life in the city's Muslim enclave, "Little Mogadishu," reporter Allie Shah applauded the fact that the neighborhood, cut off from the rest of the city "by the Mississippi River and two freeways," functions "like a self-sustaining village" and has thus been able to "retain its character." Ah, the joy of euphemism!

One recent occasion for celebration was the election, in 2016, of the first Somali American to the Minnesota legislature. As it turned out, the legislator in question, Ilham Omar, had married her own brother in 2009, apparently to enable him to enter the U.S. ‐ and if that weren't enough of a transgression, Omar was already married at the time to one Ahmed Hirsi, the father of her three children. When blogger Scott Johnson, who uncovered these irregularities, asked Omar's campaign for a comment, he heard back from a lawyer who basically accused him of racism, sexism, and Islamophobia: "There are people who do not want an East African, Muslim woman elected to office and who will follow Donald Trump’s playbook to prevent it. Ilhan Omar’s campaign sees your superfluous contentions as one more in a series of attempts to discredit her candidacy." On the contrary, some Minnesotans were apparently so eager to see an East African, Muslim woman elected to office that they gladly overlooked Omar's criminal offenses. Omar remains in the legislature, while her shady past has been neatly whitewashed on her Wikipedia page.

#5  It's all relative. I remember several years ago the Swedes sent a fact finding mission to the twin cities to find out why our Somalis were integrating so successfully. Many Somalis had lived in Sweden before coming here.

They said they were able to get loans to set up shops that were simply impossible to get in Sweden.

The truth is those Somalis who integrate into society have a great deal of success. For the rest there's "Little Mogadishu."

Greece Suspends Asylum for Turkish 'Coup' Officer
[AnNahar] A Greek court suspended Monday the asylum status granted to a Ottoman Turkish military helicopter co-pilot who fled the country following last year's failed coup, days after Ankara criticized the decision.

The Athens Administrative Court of Appeal said it had "temporarily suspended the asylum for reasons of public interest" following an appeal by the Greek government.

The co-pilot -- who flew seven other Ottoman Turkish military officers to Greece the day after the failed coup in July 2016 -- was granted asylum at the end of December after Greek authorities ruled that his human rights
One man's rights are another man's existential threat.
would be at risk.

The Ottoman Turkish Foreign Ministry complained at the time that the ruling was "politically motivated" and "once again reveals that Greece is a country that protects and embraces plotters."

The Greek government said it requested the status was suspended because it "endangered diplomatic relations" with The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...just another cheapjack Moslem dictatorship, brought to you by the Moslem Brüderbund....
The case is now scheduled for a hearing on February 15.

A ruling on the seven other military officers is due to be made in the coming weeks.

"This is an important decision, we welcome it with satisfaction," Ottoman Turkish government front man Bekir Bozdag said on Monday.

He added that the extradition of the "eight putschists" would have a positive impact on relations between the two countries.

However,
today is that tomorrow you were thinking about yesterday...
the Greek government has repeatedly supported a ruling by the Greek Supreme Court last January which blocked the extradition of the group, saying that they would not have a fair trial in Turkey.

Report: Islamic State ‘Increasing Footprints’ in Pakistan
[Breitbart] The Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS/ISIS/IS) wing in South Asia is intensifying its presence in Pakistain, particularly in areas along the country’s border with war-ravaged Afghanistan, the Pakistain Institute for Peace Studies (PIPS) think tank cautions in a new report.

According to the U.S. military, the majority of ISIS jihadists in South Asia are Pak ‐ former members of the Tehrik-e-Taliban
...the Pashtun equivalent of men...
Pakistain (TTP) terrorist group.

ISIS-K is "actively recruiting from the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistain," reiterated American Gen. John Nicholson, the top commander of U.S. and NATO

troops in Afghanistan, in November. "So as you’ll recall, when the Pakistain army ... in 2014 pushed a lot of the TTP into Afghanistan ‐ hundreds of thousands of TTP fighters and their families pushed into Afghanistan and it’s from these ranks that [ISIS] has been recruiting heavily."

"Most of these [ISIS] fighters came from Pakistain," stressed Nicholson, noting that about 1,000 ISIS jihadists are in Afghan provinces that border Pakistain, including "600 to 800" in Nangarhar
The unfortunate Afghan province located adjacent to Mohmand, Kurram, and Khyber Agencies. The capital is Jalalabad. The province was the fief of Younus Khalis after the Soviets departed and one of his sons is the current provincial Taliban commander. Nangarhar is Haqqani country..
, considered the group’s primary bastion in the region.

The Afghan Taliban and its Pak counterpart consider themselves two separate organizations.

TTP jihadists, their affiliates, and other faceless myrmidons with similar objectives, including ISIS members, carried out nearly 60 percent (213) of the total 370 reported attacks in Afghanistan last year, notes PIPS.

The Islamic State (IS) alone was allegedly responsible for the six deadliest attacks in Pakistain, which killed 153 people in 2017.

"IS has grabbed credit for just six terrorist attacks in the country, but they were the most deadliest ones," Muhammad Ismail Khan, the senior project manager at the PIPS think tank, told Dawn.

"There is a need to take the matter more seriously because there is a possibility that imported muscle would come to Pakistain in near future as things are continuously changing in the Middle East," he added.

As the so-called ISIS caliphate in Iraq and Syria continues to collapse at the hands of the U.S.-led coalition and its allies, the ISIS branch in the Afghanistan-Pakistain region is growing, according to the United Nations
...a formerly good idea gone bad...

If you like your coverage you can keep it...
declared the American combat mission in Afghanistan over at the end of 2014.

"Despite a 16% decline in terrorist attacks in 2017, Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistain and its associated groups remained the most potent threat [in Pakistain]; they were followed by nationalist-insurgent groups," reveals the report.

"Nationalist bad boy groups," including snuffies seeking independence in the Balochistan
...the Pak province bordering Kandahar and Uruzgun provinces in Afghanistan and Sistan Baluchistan in Iran. Its native Baloch propulation is being displaced by Pashtuns and Punjabis and they aren't happy about it...
region, were responsible for 138 attacks in Pakistain, which killed 140 people and injured another 265 people, notes the PIPS think tank.

Most of the 2017 casualties in Pakistain are civilians, but they also include security and law enforcement personnel as well as bad boys.

"The report noted that as compared to 2016, the attacks in the country from across Afghan, Indian and Iranian borders in 2017 witnessed a significant surge (131pc). A total of 171 cross-border attacks claimed 188 lives and left 348 people injured," reports Dawn.

While Afghanistan and the United States accuse Islamabad of harboring the Afghan Taliban, Pakistain claims Kabul provides sanctuary to TTP.

Political parties playing the religion card to woo voters in Chakwal
[DAWN] CHAKWAL: Instead of any future manifesto for development or reforms, PML-N and Pakistain Tehrik-e-Insaf
...a political party in Pakistan. PTI was founded by former Pakistani cricket captain and philanthropist Imran Khan. The party's slogan is Justice, Humanity and Self Esteem, each of which is open to widely divergent interpretations....
(PTI) politicians involved in Chakwal’s upcoming by-election appear to be relying on the religion card to woo voters.

The PP-20 by-election is scheduled to be held on Jan 9.

The key PML-N supporter in the district is the Tehrik Khuddam Ahl-e-Sunnat Waljamaat (TKASW), founded by the late Maulana Qazi Mazhar Hussain. The TKASW is the main representative of the Deobandi sect in Chakwal, and is currently led by Qazi Zahoorul Hussain Azhar, the founder’s son.

The hardliner organization regularly holds religious gatherings in various parts of the district, to which PML-N leaders are invited as chief guests. PML-N Chairman Raja Zafarul Haq also frequents Madni Mosque, the headquarters of the organization located in the heart of the city.

With the PML-N under criticism from Barelvi leaders over the controversial amendment to the Election Bill, the TKASW has decided to back the ruling party’s candidate, as it has done for years, but at a price.

The organization has decided to back PML-N candidate Chaudhry Sultan Haider Ali Khan, who arrived at Madni Mosque a few days ago with MNA Tahir Iqbal, MPA Zulfiqar Ali Khan and others, and was presented a written statement by the TKASW that he was asked to read out.

By reading the statement, he assured the audience: "By the grace of Allah I am a Moslem belonging to the Sunni sect. I admit Prophet Muhammad (PTUI!) as the last prophet. I declare Mirza Ghulam Ahmed Qadiani and his followers as non-Moslem. Furthermore, I condemn the recent amendment regarding Khatm-e-Nabuwat, although I think it was not done intentionally."

Mr Khan vowed that he would consider it is his obligation and honour to quit the government if it dared to introduce any legislation against Islam or against the finality of the Prophet and the sanctity of his lover companions.

After reading the statement, the 32-year-old aspirant for the provincial assembly seat went a step ahead to appease the leaders and workers of the TKASW.

"As my brother Zulfiqar Ali Khan highlighted that Ahmadis are currently holding key posts, I feel proud that our party’s Capt (retired) Safdar sahib talked about this issue on the floor of the National Assembly for the first time."

He said if Allah gave him an opportunity to reach the assembly, he would also raise this issue.

"The need of the hour is to remove Qadianis from public posts; rather they should be banished from the country," Mr Khan added, as he sought guidance from the TKASW chief.

Military Explosives Found Buried In Northern Arizona
[BearingArms] If there’s anything that you expect the military to keep a pretty close eye on, it’s explosives. However, even then, things work through the cracks and not everything can be accounted for. Maybe it was listed as used in training, or maybe it was just considered lost. Who knows?

What we do know is that a sizeable cache of explosives was recently found in Northern Arizona, and when I say "sizeable cache," I’m not using that in the mainstream media sense of the term where I’m talking about a couple of M-80’s and an old stick of dynamite. No, this is the real deal.

Authorities say military explosives were buried for two decades before being found by construction workers in Northern Arizona.

The ATF says the military explosives were found by a construction crew in a rural area of Pine, Arizona on October 25, 2017.

The military explosives found at the scene include:

- 80 M112 blocks of military C4 explosive
- Nine M18A1 Claymore antipersonnel mines with firing devices
- One roll of military detonating cord

A $10,000 reward is being offered by the ATF for any information on just where these came from.

I’ll be honest, the C4 is less troubling to me than the Claymores. I can think of a lot of reasons why someone would want C4 that have nothing to do with hurting folks. It’s an explosive, but there are legitimate uses for explosives. For example, farmer’s trying to remove large tree stumps. While C4 isn’t something typically used for that, I could see some enterprising young soldier thinking about his family farm and squirreling some C4 away for farm life after the Army.

But Claymores are different. While they do contain explosives, their power rests in the shrapnel they project outward, much like a shotgun. While they might be used for innocent purposes, that’s clearly not their intended use. It’s also not something I’d risk my career and freedom over unless it was exactly what I wanted.

It’s interesting that authorities believed this was buried 20 years ago. Recall that this was the height of tensions between the government and many American citizens, often referred to as the militia movement.

In 1992, you had the Ruby Ridge standoff. A year later, the Waco siege. Two years later, in 1995, we had the Oklahoma City bombing?

To say times were tense then would be a bit of an understatement. Were these hidden by someone who believed he’d need them to fend off an oppressive Clinton regime?

Who knows?

What we do know is that this is a lot of "boom" to be buried in the Arizona dirt. A lot. More than enough to make me nervous, even if it was 20 years ago.

If you know anything about this, I urge you to contact the ATF at 1-888-ATF-TIPS. I can’t help but figure whoever buried this had bad intentions in mind when they buried it. It’s entirely possible the person who put it there has long since passed away, but again, who knows?

What I do know is that this is stuff you and I can’t pick up at the local gun store.

#5  Might not be too difficult to examine the clackers and C4 lot numbers to determine a manufacturer, shipping and end-user. Judging by the proximity to the southern border, a northern migration as mentioned by badanov is certainly a
possibility.

If the manufacturer and end-user cannot be determined (unmarked), then simply reverse the badanov theory and add an explosive cache to the Fast & Furious debacle. Lastly, a blinding flash of the obvious, there could be others.

...an emirate on the east coast of the Arabian Peninsula. It sits on some really productive gas and oil deposits, which produces the highest per capita income in the world. They piss it all away on religion, financing the Moslem Brotherhood and several al-Qaeda affiliates. Home of nutbag holy manYusuf al-Qaradawi...
has been strongly criticized for its alleged funding of the Moslem Brüderbund in the UK by a senior British Army veteran and counter-insurgency expert, who also called the group a "terrorist organization."

Col. Tim Collins, who served in Northern Ireland and the second Iraq War, was speaking in Westminster and said the Moslem Brüderbund was a problem in the UK and that the government needed to challenge it more.

He also hit out at Qatar for allegedly funding the organization, questioning why they would "hurt a friend."

"(The Moslem Brüderbund) has been a problem and continues to be a problem in the United Kingdom and we need to challenge it ‐ and indeed it is challenging our response to terrorism," Collins told Arab News.

"In fairness to The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
they are not actively promoting it in this country. I understand why they would have a close relationship with the Moslem Brüderbund given the nature of Ottoman Turkish politics, but the Qataris are actively funding this, what do they think they are doing?"

"We are a close ally and we stood by them in tumultuous times. They’ve been isolated in the Gulf yet we’ve stood by them, we have to ask them to show their friendship and comradeship and stop doing this.

"It’s not using leverage, what you say to friends is ’why are you hurting us, why are you doing this?’"

Four years ago the UK government ordered a review into the Moslem Brüderbund. The result, the Jenkins Commission, concluded that the organization ‐ while outwardly purporting peaceful means to promote its agenda ‐ was willing to use violence and terror in pursuit of its long-term goals and that aspects of its ideology and tactics "are contrary to the (UK’s) national interests and security."

Grand jury takes sworn testimony in Burlington College case
[VTDIGGER.ORG] The federal probe into a 2010 land deal orchestrated by former Burlington College president Jane Sanders, wife of U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders
...The only openly Socialist member of the U.S. Senate. Sanders was Representative-for-Life from Vermont until moving to the Senate for the rest of his life in 2006, assuming the seat vacated by Jim Jeffords. He ran for the 2016 nomination for president, to be cheated by Hillary, then went back to being a socialist...
, I-Vt., has deepened. VTDigger has confirmed that a grand jury has compelled sworn witness testimony in the case.

The Vermont U.S. Attorney’s office has interviewed at least one witness before the grand jury to determine whether indictments should be handed down.

Former Burlington College board member Robin Lloyd says she testified for about an hour on Oct. 26 before a grand jury at the federal courthouse in Burlington.

Paul Van de Graaf, chief of the criminal division for the U.S. attorney’s office in Vermont, questioned Lloyd about her role as the development chair of the college’s board of trustees during a period when Sanders was collecting donations and pledges for the purchase of a $10 million city lakefront property.

Lloyd, who is publisher of the progressive website Toward Freedom, kept copious board meeting minutes as the development chair for the college. In the interview with Van de Graaf, Lloyd said he "was focused on what I knew about who had been approached for contributions."

"I helped provide a timeline of what happened ‐ and when ‐ in terms of development," Lloyd said. "It was general questions about donors, and money coming in."

Jane and Bernie Sanders have vehemently denied any impropriety surrounding the land deal.

Jeff Weaver, a front man for the Sanders and former campaign manager, told Seven Days Sunday night, "We have absolutely no reason to believe that there is a grand jury empaneled to examine Burlington College, Jane Sanders, or any aspect of Dr. Sanders’ service as president of Burlington College. As best we can tell, the current news reports are simply recycling an account of a government interview of a witness from several months ago. Nothing new here."

Lloyd’s appearance is the first public confirmation that the federal government has compelled a grand jury.

#2  Yes. The Secret Service will not be in a mood to accept "I was just joking". Prison time is in this person's future.

Threatening the President of the United States is a felony under United States Code Title 18, Section 871. It consists of knowingly and willfully mailing or otherwise making "any threat to take the life of, to kidnap, or to inflict bodily harm upon the President of the United States"
