Careful in Jamaica -
AUTHORITIES in Jamaica have declared a state of emergency in areas including the popular tourist town of Montego Bay amid a rise in violent crime.

Tourists are being warned to stay inside their resorts after the Jamaican Government declared a state of emergency in the parish of St. James after a number of “shooting incidents”.

There has been an increase in killings that officials blame on gangs and lottery scams.

#1  Draconian gun control laws have not reduced the homicide rate on the island nation over the last 40 years,It is clear that the possession of guns is not the cause of the high murder rate in Jamaica. Gun control is simply a ruse to distract the public from the real cause of the murders – a government that is allied with the criminal gangs, and a corrupt police force.

Former Guantanamo detainee warns against spilling secrets
[FDD's LongWarJournal]
Ibrahim al Qosi, a former Guantanamo detainee, lectures about the importance of “preserving secrets” in an Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) video that was released earlier this week. The 36-minute video, titled “Secrets, its Dangers and the Departure of the Best of Us,” focuses on the US drone campaign against the group.

Interviews with alleged spies who have helped the US hunt down jihadist commanders are spliced together with scenes of Qosi and other AQAP leaders decrying the spies’ actions, as well as the jihadists’ own loose lips and poor tradecraft. The problems posed by cell phones and social media are addressed. Indeed, the video culminates in a stern prohibition against using any devices that fuel the American-led intelligence war against AQAP.

AQAP is clearly concerned that more mid-level and senior management figures could be taken out in the coming months. The US has targeted AQAP leaders in Yemen for years, but the number of airstrikes increased dramatically in 2017.

Qosi is both the first and the last senior AQAP leader to speak in the production. He begins by claiming that the practice of guarding secrets has been important since the time of the Prophet Mohammed.

“The Arabs regard the one who does not keep a secret to be lacking honor,” Qosi claims.

A “secret among the best of people is concealed,” Qosi says. He then brags about his own ability to stay quiet. “A secret with me is a closed house. Its keys are lost and doors sealed.”

Qosi warns those who reveal the jihadists’ secrets, inadvertently or otherwise. “To every Muslim who transgresses with his tongue, may he seek forgiveness from Allah, and know that there are Angels who record each and every word he utters.” Hellfire awaits those who transgress, al Qosi claims.

At the end of the video, the former Guantanamo detainee addresses those who have migrated to Yemen hoping to achieve martyrdom. Do “not let your tongue or your phone be a reason [for] revealing the secrets of your brothers and lead to their imprisonment and killing and allow the enemy to rejoice in our misfortune,” Qosi says.

Qosi served Osama bin Laden in a variety of roles prior to the Sept. 11, 2001 hijackings. He was captured by the Pakistanis while fleeing the Tora Bora region of Afghanistan in Dec. 2001. The group he fled with in late 2001 was dubbed the “Dirty 30” by US officials, as Qosi’s comrades included former bin Laden bodyguards and others who served the al Qaeda chieftain.

Qosi was among the first detainees transferred to Guantanamo in Jan. 2002. In July 2010, he pleaded guilty to charges of conspiracy and material support for terrorism before a military commission. His plea was part of a deal in which he agreed to cooperate with prosecutors during his remaining time in US custody. Qosi was transferred to his home country of Sudan two years later, in July 2012.

By 2014, Qosi had rejoined al Qaeda in Yemen. Qosi was first re-introduced as a senior al Qaeda figure in Dec. 2015 and he has been featured in the group’s propaganda repeatedly since then.

Qasim al Raymi (AQAP’s emir) says the jihadists are an “open book”

Qasim al Raymi, AQAP’s emir, argues that the jihadists’ have no bigger problem than their inability to keep secrets. “Our problem today is the exposure of Muslim secrets,” al Raymi claims. “That’s it! We are an open book; our way of thinking is exposed for the enemy to benefit from.”

Al-Raymi (seen above) is an al Qaeda veteran who has served as AQAP’s top leader since 2015. In the new video, he raises several problems the jihadists face.

He complains that some “brothers” cannot “hide a secret even from their” wives. “Then the woman gets on the phone and spreads information that so and so is in a particular place. Brothers have been killed by such irresponsible actions of such a woman,” al Raymi claims.

In reality, the men are worse — divulging AQAP’s secrets as they peck away on websites.

“Who is the one exposing the secrets of the Mujahidin? They are the Mujahideen themselves,” al Raymi laments. “When you see what is going on in the web forums you will be surprised. The transgression against the work of the Mujahidin that goes on is unbelievable. They expose [a] Mujahidin’s visions and plans, and then go on to…open debate in a chat room…what is (the aim of) this debate?”

Then there are cell phones. One of the “spies” interviewed in the video claims that he marked the location of various AQAP figures by leaving behind cell phones with chips implanted in them.

The “mobile phone” is “a different source of getting information,” one that is “much more dangerous than the one before,” al Raymi says. “Today we consider the mobile phones in our hands as a form of spy agent. An agent that is always with us.”

AQAP’s head honcho makes a remark that deserves additional attention. “We believe that over that last period, especially after our withdraw[al], that most of the drone strikes were due to cell phones.”

Al Raymi means that the US has tracked targets who were either careless with their mobile communications, or were marked by one of the “spies.” It is not clear if the withdrawal he is referring to is the one that occurred in 2016, when AQAP decided to fall back from Mukalla and other points in southern Yemen as a UAE-led coalition approached, or an earlier withdrawal forced by Yemeni forces in 2012.

After the earlier retreat in 2012, al Raymi explains, AQAP “found documents from the national security that forbid striking three particular brothers.” Nasir al Wuhayshi, al Raymi’s predecessor as AQAP emir, had al Raymi inform the trio on the list.

“Why [was] it that it was forbidden to strike them, while they are amongst the best of [the] brothers?” al Raymi asks. It was because they were collating “news” from across AQAP’s operations and the jihadists’ enemies found it useful to monitor their communications. Al Raymi doesn’t name the men, but says “two of them have been killed and one remains” alive.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Oh, By The Way… Turkey Just Invaded Syria
[Hot Air] It’s rather amazing how much news you can miss when the entire media machine is focused on something like the government shutdown. For just one minor example, did you know that Turkey invaded Syria yesterday? That probably sounds a bit dramatic (and to be honest, it wasn’t that much of an invasion) but it’s certainly accurate. Making good on President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s earlier promise, Turkey launched a blistering wave of air strikes on U.S.-backed Kurdish forces in Afrin province and crossed the border with troops and artillery. Details are sketchy, but at least for the moment the Kurds claim to have beaten back the attack.

#2  The official statement by the YPG is "Welcome to Scrub. We will now teach you a lesson."

YPG are using US AGMs to strike and destroy US M60A3, M60T and the German Leopard battle tanks used by the Turkish MIL.

The areas supposedly captured per Turkey are actually active battle fields per the YPG.

YPG announced they had emerged from the earlier airstrikes and mortar fire intact and ready to fight the Turks, something they had been preparing years for. Other pro-Kurd Syrian groups have joined the Kurds and have contributed in stalling the FSA "Gangs" as the YPG calls them.

Mueller Investigation Now Doomed, Fake News Awards and Economic Update
[USA Watchdog] A bombshell memo will probably cause the end of the Mueller investigation into the Trump Administration and the so-called Russian collusion story. New evidence, in the form of a four page memo, shows the entire case against the President and his Administration is based on a phony dossier paid for by Hillary Clinton. The President called this Special Prosecutor investigation a "witch hunt" from the beginning, and it looks like he was correct‐again.

You think the Trump "Fake News Awards" are just good hearted fun? Think again. The fake news awards are being used by the President to show the mainstream media (MSM) is one-sided propaganda. The "awards" are meant to destroy the credibility of the MSM. It looks like it’s working nicely. The best part is the propaganda press is suppling all the fake news in the form of inaccurate and biased reporting that is easy to define.

Interest rates are on the rise, but the U.S. dollar is tanking. Shouldn’t the dollar rise as rates rise? Yes, but we live in the era of massive money printing, and things are backwards.
Emphasis added, key word 'probably'.

#1  The Mueller investigation will never end. Mr. Mueller and his troops have no incentive to forfeit the high status the investigation gives them, and any politician who tries to end it will be accused of obstruction of justice (and therefore subject to investigation by Mueller.) It may become our first hereditary fiefdom, "The Duchy of Mueller."

#2  "..Interest rates are on the rise, but the U.S. dollar is tanking. Shouldn’t the dollar rise as rates rise? Yes, but we live in the era of massive money printing, and things are backwards."

interest rates and currency values are a result of the market for money

among the causes of the down tick in the value of the dollar is that wages in the US are finally rising after years of stagnation; this is a very welcome result which should be cheered by every media group that has the sense that god gave goats but there will be the offsetting isssue that higher wages will eventually result in higher prices for goods and services until the rising productivity reduces costs

Afghanistan
5 killed as gunmen battle security forces at Intercontinental Hotel in Kabul
Gunmen stormed the Intercontinental Hotel in Kabul at the start of an 11-hour siege that continued into Sunday morning, leaving at least five Afghan civilian dead, officials said.

Six other civilians were reported wounded and more than 100 people, including 16 foreigners, have been rescued from the hotel, said Interior Ministry spokesman Najib Danish.

The bodies of four attackers were recovered as security forces continued to clear the landmark building, he said.

"The security forces are going room-by-room to make sure that there is no any other attacker in the building," he said.

No one has immediately claimed responsibility for the attack, which started around 9 p.m. Saturday. As the fighting raged, a fire erupted in the building.

Live TV footage showed people trying to escape through windows on the fourth and fifth floors.

President Trump Has Declared War on the Deep State – Kevin Shipp
[The Daily Coin] Former "high-level" CIA officer Kevin Shipp says President Trump has "declared war" on the so-called Deep State and the shadow government. Shipp explains, "I differentiate between the ’Deep State’ and the shadow government. The shadow government are the secret intelligence agencies that have such power and secrecy that they act even without the knowledge of Congress.

There are many things that they do with impunity. Then there is the ’Deep State,’ which is the military industrial complex, all of the industrial corporations and their lobbyists, and they have all the money, power and greed that give all the money to the Senators and Congressmen. So, they are connected, but they are really two different entities. It is the shadow government . . . specifically, the CIA, that is going after Donald Trump. It is terrified that some of its dealings are going to be exposed. If they are, it could jeopardize the entire organization."

#2  Deep State is a one party beauracracy built by Obama and sec state Hillary Clinton to support only one part and to actively sabatoge any opposition that takes power.

It is an active socialist, communist organization.

#3  We, just like most if all not countries have always had a "Deep State" working for an agenda. The agendas change, the goals change but the "Deep State" is always there. During the upheavalls of 1848 IIRC someone asked Metternick about the b'crats labouring at their desks. "What will become of them?" He replied " Nothing, they will always be with us." Or words to that effect. The Deep State can reach all the way down to a clerk in city hall denying you a building permit for personal or political reasons. Or the head of a federal agency/dept obstructing the will of Congress or a President. As longb as there are individuals with political power that are answerable to no one we will always have abuses of power. And threats to the Constitution. And they will come from both the left and right of the political spectrum.

New Trump ad calls Dems 'complicit' in all murders by illegal immigrants (video)
[The Hill] The Trump campaign released a new ad spot on Saturday calling Democrats "complicit" in all murders by immigrants in the country illegally, following the opposition of Democratic senators to a short-term spending bill, which resulted in a federal government shutdown on Friday.
Cop killer Luis Enriquez Monroy Bracamontes photo
"President Trump is right ‐ build the wall, deport criminals, stop illegal immigration now," the ad says, showing clips of Democratic Minority Leaders Sen. Chuck Schumer (N.Y.) and Rep. Nancy Pelosi (Calif.) "Democrats who stand in our way will be complicit in every murder committed by illegal immigrants."

The campaign forwarded the video ad, titled "Complicit" on the first anniversary of Trump's inauguration, after most Senate Democrats voted against the spending patch because Republicans would not offer to include legislation protecting thousands of immigrants brought to the country illegally as children from deportation.

Feds Collect Record Taxes Through November; Still Run $201.8B Deficit
[CNSNews.com] The federal government collected record total tax revenues of $443,715,000,000 in the first two months of fiscal 2018 (Oct. 1, 2017 through the end of November), according to the Monthly Treasury Statement.

Despite these record tax revenues, the federal government still ran a deficit of $201,761,000,000 for those same two months.

That is because the government spent $645,476,000,000 in October and November.

The $443,715,000,000 that the federal government collected in taxes in the first two months of this fiscal year was $12,873,120,000 more in constant 2018 dollars than it collected in the first two months of fiscal 2017 and $11,352,180,000 more than it collected in the first two months of fiscal 2016.

"America is home": How Trump's immigration policies are upending Somali lives in the US
Excerpt from the leftest Quartz below explains why Sharif is no longer welcome and President Trump is doing the right thing.
[Quartz] In the mid-1990s, after fleeing Somalia’s civil war and living in Kenya as a refugee, Sharif and his family were granted resettlement and moved to the United States. As a teenager navigating the streets of Columbus, Ohio, he started hanging out with the wrong crowd, and in 2002, was convicted of aggravated assault and sentenced to 15 years in prison.

After a decade, Sharif was released on parole in 2012 and went about rebuilding his life. Despite his criminal record, he started working the system to get his driver’s license, got engaged, and got a stable job working at a restaurant where he worked himself from dishwasher to second chef. Members of his family who spoke to Quartz said that he was really determined to change his life and start a family.

Felons are not eligible for naturalization. In fact, green card holders with felonies are supposed to be stripped of their permanent residency and deported. As expect, Obama's ICE let this violent felon back out on the streets, instead of putting him on the next plane to Somalia when he was released.

Europe
The left slowly discovers the cost of multiculturalism in France
[Breitbart] Leftist parents living in the heavily-migrant populated 18th arrondissement of Paris are finding themselves conflicted, as they want "diversity" yet complain that the schools in their "diverse" district are failing.

For many years, leftist couples have moved from the expensive centre of Paris to the heavily-migrant populated district, and now that they have children they have found the "mixed" schools in the areas to be substandard.

Indeed, schools in the area have become known as "ghetto schools" and many French now attempt to move their children elsewhere, French newspaper Liberation reports.

The paper, which conducted an investigation into the issue, claims that leftist parents do not want to "sacrifice" their child to their beliefs and many parents are putting the success of their children above their multicultural ideals.

Julien Grenet, a teacher at the Paris School of Economics, said: "You cannot blame them for saying no. What is shocking is that some parents, very intellectually armed, are blind and deny segregation with false arguments."

Rising unemployment has led to parents becoming increasingly obsessed with getting their children into preferred schools.

Washington: City of Hate
h/t Instapundit
You wouldn't know these were boom times with the stock market at all-time highs and unemployment near all-time lows if you were in the nation's capital.

Washington, D.C., is a city of hate.

When you visit, it appears no one can stand each other. The two political sides are at each other's throats so constantly it's hard to imagine they sleep. Maybe they don't. And then there are the sides within the sides, always ready for more gnashing of teeth, mutual hostility, and endless contempt.

Talk about the cliché "can't stand prosperity" ‐ that's what we have. If the boom goes on much longer and the economy becomes yet more successful, we'll be on the brink of a civil war. Only this time, it will be fought in Mercedes and Teslas. The richer we are, the more we despise each other.

And speaking of clichés, Truman's hoary "if you want a friend in Washington, get a dog" has never been more true. Only now, that dog's a Tibetan Mastiff with an estimated worth of $582,000, slurping leftover foie gras from some uber-pricey restaurant by José Andrés in the backyard of the most expensive real estate in the country. And yet they still hate.

Duckworth slams Trump: I won't be lectured on military needs by a 'five-deferment draft dodger'
[The Hill] Sen. Tammy Duckworth (D-Ill.) tore into President Trump on the Senate floor Saturday, calling him a "five-deferment draft dodger" and slamming him for his comments toward North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

"Does he even know that there are service members who are in harm’s way right now, watching him, looking for their commander in chief to show leadership, rather than [trying] to deflect blame?" Duckworth said. "Or that his own Pentagon says that the short-term funding plans he seems intent on pushing is actually harmful to not just the military, but to our national security?"

"I spent my entire adult life looking out for the well-being, the training, the equipping of the troops for whom I was responsible," she continued. "Sadly, this is something that the current occupant of the Oval Office does not seem to care to do ‐ and I will not be lectured about what our military needs by a five-deferment draft dodger."

"And I have a message for cadet bone spurs: If you cared about our military, you'd stop baiting Kim Jong Un into a war that could put 85,000 American troops, and millions of innocent civilians, in danger."

Duckworth, a retired U.S. Army lieutenant colonel, lost both of her legs when a rocket-propelled grenade shot down the helicopter she was piloting over Iraq in 2004.
She is therefore above reproach. Like John McCain.
Duckworth’s comments come after the federal government shut down Friday at midnight after the Senate failed to pass a short-term funding bill.

Trump has cast blame on the Democrats for the shutdown, tweeting Saturday that they decided to "play shutdown politics."

The White House has also blasted Democrats, accusing them of putting "unlawful immigrants" ahead of the military and other funding needs.

"We will not negotiate the status of unlawful immigrants while Democrats hold our lawful citizens hostage over their reckless demands," White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said. "When Democrats start paying our armed forces and first responders, we will reopen negotiations on immigration reform."

Democrats have countered that Trump’s demands on an immigration compromise led to the shutdown. Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) said he thought he had come to a deal with Trump on Friday by offering funding for Trump’s U.S.-Mexico border wall, but the president ultimately walked away from that deal.

"Negotiating with this White House is like negotiating with Jell-O," Schumer said Saturday. "It’s next to impossible. As soon as you take one step forward, the hard-right forces the president three steps back."

Shot down in 2004, presumably not a Lieutenant Colonel at the time as a co-pilot of a Blackhawk.

Ran for office, lost, 2006, then, *cough*, appointed by Blagojevich Illinois Department of Veteran Affairs. Sketchy tenure.

2009, job with federal Department of Veteran Affairs.

Some cush committees considering her lack of experience.

Oh, already have this one-liner entered.

So she was groomed to politics to begin with. Her injuries secured her position. Fast-tracked to the US Senate. Oh, and has a history of leaning on her creds: female military minority with combat wounds. Record sucks. Piss off.

The left has spent fifty years telling us how moral and wonderful and right the draft dodgers were but suddenly hit us with this?

We can sell out 95% of East Asia to the Russian mob and then surrender our industrial capability to what they've remade in their image but we're supposed to be concerned that they spent $ 100,000.00 on online ads on facebook?

Beoserker: if I could figure out some way to make ends meet doing it I'd go out into the desert to subsist on locusts and wild honey, but I'm afraid all the suitable desert locations for that sort of thing (and a lot of the unsuitable ones) have been turned into golf courses.

After a while you are enjoying it as a sport. There are times where a decisive opportunity to strike a fatal blow to a leftist position yourself sort of out of the blue offers itself as an opportunity, then in classic style you strike, then you sit back and watch them crash burn and try to pick up the pieces while not knowing what just sledge hammered them.

Government Shuts Down - Nation Descends Into Riots, Looting and Cannibalism
The United States of America (1787-2018) came to a swift and sudden end last night as the government shut down. The nation which had survived Pearl Harbor, the War of 1812 and Jimmy Carter ceased to exist.

The savage population, which had only been kept in line through a policy of rigorous gun
confiscations, food stamps and Green Energy programs unleashed its pent up rage in a spree of riots, looting and mass murder that had only previously been encountered in Somalia and Disneyland.

"The government shut down! We can do anything we like," shouted Sam Hasbley of Grassley, Iowa, while tearing the tag off a mattress despite an explicit warning label forbidding such a dangerous course of action. "Tear yours off. The government is shut down. It can't stop you."

Eyewitnesses spoke of further horrors. On a quiet street in a Massachusetts suburb, a man brought out a set of highly illegal lawn darts. In Sumtown, Maryland, there were allegations that an entire family had begun digging ditches to collect rainwater runoff.

With the fall of the government, citizen activists took it upon themselves to chronicle the culture of lawlessness. Men played Gibson guitars made of wood imported from India, but not finished by Indian workers. Women bought cold medicine without a photo ID. Children went hours without hearing lectures about the environment.

And there was worse to come.

The entire city of Detroit was seized by the Michigan Militia backed by Canadian air power. The village of Frankfurt, Illinois passed several ordinances in explicit violation of Title MXVIII of the Federal Charter of Approved Fruit Naming Ordinances. North Dakota seceded and declared that it was now the nation of Bismarckia, elected a Kaiser and petitioned to join OPEC.

An army of Mongols or possibly local residents dressed in Samurai helmets raided the Federal Dried Peach Reserve in Georgia hauling away thousands of tons of dried fruit and tossed them to waiting crowds. The end of food stamps in Martho, New Jersey led to an outbreak of cannibalism despite efforts by ACORN volunteers to bring order to the proceedings by soliciting volunteers to give up their privilege and be fed to the people.

In Massey Hills, Virginia, a gang of politically incorrect sports mascots entered a workplace and implicitly hurt the feelings of several minorities.

In Madison, Wisconsin, the entire United Organized Educators and Librarians Union attempted to commit mass suicide on the front lawn of the Madison Center of Union History to protest budget cuts and school closings. Their efforts proved in vain when the gasoline they poured on themselves in a failed attempt at self-immolation turned out to be apple juice.

In the midst of all this chaos, a weary nation's eyes turn to Washington D.C. But since the shutdown, which also shut off all power, water and press releases to the embattled city, no word has reached the outside world of what is taking place there. The last message was a smoke signal dispatched by Elizabeth Warren from the roof of a burning Capitol Building. An expert in Native American smoke signals decoded it to read, "I told you so. Now we're all doomed."

As the nation descends into chaos, one thing is clear. The government shutdown has once again doomed us all. Just like the last 17 times.

Tom Cotton Has Chuck Schumer Searching For His Adult Diaper
[RedState] Tom Cotton and Chuck Schumer are not the best of buddies. Back in January they had an epic confrontation in the Senate well over Chuck Schumer’s lack of integrity. I sort of fault Tom Cotton for this because he had a pollyannish notion that Schumer’s word was actually worth something.

This is how the Weekly Standard describes it

The Senate reconvened after the inaugural ceremonies on Friday, with Pompeo’s nomination set to come up at 4:50pm. Cotton angrily confronted Schumer about his broken promise. According to witnesses, Schumer told Cotton to lower his voice and asked him move off of the Senate floor to an adjacent hallway for a private discussion. "We need to take this out into the hallway," Schumer said. Cotton walked with Schumer but loudly rejected his first request. "Don’t tell me to lower my voice!" he shouted, with an additional salty admonition tacked on for emphasis. Burr and Cornyn were present, as was Senator Mark Warner, ranking member of the Senate Intelligence Committee, and several aides.

Schumer told Cotton that the Senate had never previously confirmed a CIA director on Inauguration Day and if Cotton had been around eight years earlier, he’d know that Republicans didn’t extend that courtesy for incoming president Barack Obama. "Eight years ago, I was getting my ass shot at in Afghanistan," Cotton snapped. "So don’t talk to me about where I was 8 years ago."

Cotton asked Schumer why he’d gone back on his word. Schumer claimed that he’d only been speaking for himself when he promised to let Pompeo through. "I said that I would not block him," Schumer said, emphasizing the personal pronoun, according to sources who witnessed the exchange. "I never said that I could speak for 47 other Democrats."

The Republicans were stunned.

At about the 0:05 point you can hear Cotton, who approaches down the center aisle, tell Schumer "this is bullsh**." You can’t hear the exchange, but you don’t have to hear to appreciate what is going on.

ICE Is Enforcing Deportation Orders Against High-Profile Illegal Immigrant Activists
[Daily Caller] Immigration authorities have detained in recent weeks two prominent activists who are themselves illegal immigrants, demonstrating the Trump administration’s commitment to expand the pool of deportable aliens.

The arrested men have openly lived in the U.S. for years and have until recently enjoyed a de facto immunity from deportation, thanks to their status as high-profile immigrants’ rights activists. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials have denied the arrests are politically motivated, but they clearly show that immigration agents are now emboldened to arrest even the most connected of illegal immigrants.

Both men are leaders of the New Sanctuary Coalition of New York City, a network of religious and social organizations that works to prevent the detention and deportation of illegal immigrants. ICE officers first detained Jean Montrevil, a Haitian national who had lived in the U.S. since 1986 despite having served a prison term for drug possession that resulted in a deportation order.

Montrevil, who co-founded the New Sanctuary coalition, was taken into custody in early January near his home in Queens, touching off a firestorm of protest. Activists accused ICE of breaking an "understanding" that Montrevil would not be arrested while he appealed his order of removal. Despite the public outcry, ICE deported Montrevil to Haiti on Tuesday.

Minnesota Woman Strikes St. Kate’s
[POWERLINEBLOG] A “Minnesota woman” went on an arson rampage at St. Kate’s this past Wednesday. Truza Jamal Hassan — a 19-year-old former student — set eight fires in seven buildings across the campus. All but one of the fires were set in trash cans inside bathrooms.

Hassan did a lot of talking that will prove helpful to the prosecution of the case against her. She explained to police that “she wanted the school to burn to the ground and that her intent was to hurt people.” She said similar attacks happened on “Muslim land” and no one cared if Muslims were hurt. Hassan also told police that she had written a letter to her roommates containing “radical ideas about supporting Muslims and bringing back the caliphate.” And just to be clear, she also told authorities, “You guys are lucky that I don’t know how to build a bomb because I would have done that.” Good to know.

#1  We have family at that school. With our Twin City Pravda media refusing to report on air the "bomb" comment. Lets just say both disgusted but not surprised. And it's just a matter of time before Minnesota has more jihad terrorism.

Side note. Google-youtube (and fox 9) took down all videos of Keith Ellison's celebration victory crowd chanting "Allahu Akbar."

Jihad denial is rampant in the nation media, it's their job. But Minnesota's Moscow on the Mississippi news not only thinks we are stupid, they demand we stay that way.

Syria condemns Turkey’s ‘brutal aggression' on Kurdish enclave Afrin
[PRESSTV] The Syrian government has condemned the "brutal Ottoman Turkish aggression" against the Kurdish-controlled enclave of Afrin, rejecting Ankara’s claim about having informed Damascus of the operation.

Damascus "strongly condemns the brutal Ottoman Turkish aggression on Afrin, which is an inseparable part of Syrian territory," state-run news agency
...and if you can't believe the state-run news agency who can you believe?...
SANA cited a Syrian foreign ministry source as saying on Saturday.

"Syria completely denies claims by the Ottoman Turkish regime that it was informed of this military operation," the source added.

Earlier in the day, Ottoman Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu told the 24 TV broadcaster that Ankara was informing the Syrian government "in writing" on the Afrin assault.

Russia has voiced concern about a Ottoman Turkish military operationin Afrin region, calling on the sides to exercise restraint.

Tripoli airport reopens after fighting suspended flights
[CITIZEN.CO.ZA] The airport serving the Libyan capital resumed flights on Saturday following a five-day suspension after deadly festivities around the facility that also damaged planes on the tarmac.

Lotfi Khalil, the director general of Mitiga airport on the eastern outskirts of Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
, said services resumed with Buraq Air flying to the eastern city of Tobruk and Libyan Airlines leaving for Tunis.

One local carrier, state-owned Afriqiyah Airways, however, has yet to resume operations because its planes were damaged in Monday’s fighting in which at least 20 people were killed, he told AFP.

Since the closure, flights had been diverted to Misrata, a city 200 kilometres (120 miles) east of the capital.

Mitiga airport, a former military air base, was evacuated on Monday after gunnies attacked it in an attempt to free detainees at a jail there.

The health ministry of Libya’s UN-backed Government of National Accord (GNA) said 20 people were killed and 63 maimed in the violence.

The GNA condemned what it called a "premeditated" attack by button men trying to free "terrorists" belonging to the Islamic State

US to overtake Saudi as crude oil producer
[GEO.TV] The United States are set to overtake Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. as the world's number two oil producer after Russia this year, as shale companies, attracted by rising prices, ramp up drilling, the International Energy Agency said on Friday.

"This year promises to be a record-setting one for the US," the IEA wrote in its monthly market report.

Crude production of 9.9 million barrels per day (bpd) in the US was now at the highest level in nearly 50 years, "putting it neck-and-neck with Saudi Arabia, the world's second largest crude producer after Russia," the IEA said.

"Relentless growth should see the US hit historic highs above 10 million bpd, overtaking Saudi Arabia and rivalling Russia during the course of 2018 - provided OPEC/non-OPEC restraints remain in place," it said.

Ten killed in Turkish attack on Kurdish-held Syrian region
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Ottoman Turkish attacks in the Afrin region of northern Syria killed ten people on Saturday, mostly civilians, a front man for the Kurdish militia which controls the area said.

"Seven non-combatants were killed, including a child, as well as two female fighters and one male fighter," said Birusk Hasakeh, front man for the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) in Afrin, adding that the child was an eight-year-old boy.

The YPG’s political branch, the Democratic Union Party (PYD), said earlier on Saturday that 25 civilians had been maimed in the Ottoman Turkish bombing.

Ankara also said were casualties but were all Kurdish bad boys.

Afrin, a hilly region that falls in Syria’s northern Aleppo province, is home to more than a million people including displaced families.

The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
and allied Syrian rebels on Saturday began an air and ground operation, dubbed operation "Olive Branch", aimed at ousting the YPG from the Kurdish-majority pocket.

The launch came despite warnings that the operation could be militarily tough against an already battle-hardened foe and complicate relations with both Washington and Moscow.

Turkey vehemently opposes the YPG because of its links to the Kurdistan Workers’ Party, which has waged an insurgency inside Turkey for three decades.

Mnangagwa has adopted a more diplomatic tone since taking over as leader in November, after the ousting of the authoritarian Bob Muggsy Mugabe

"We want fair, free, credible elections," he told the British business newspaper in an interview published on Thursday. "I would want that the United Nations to come, the EU should come. If the Commonwealth were requesting to come, I am disposed to consider their application."

Zim-bob-we shunned international observers during Mugabe’s 37-year rule, during which elections were marred by vote-rigging and violent suppression of the opposition. #2  United Nations Security Council Resolution 253, May 29th, 1968.

United Nations Security Council Resolution 253, adopted unanimously on May 29, 1968, after reaffirming previous resolutions, the Council noted with concern that the measures taken so far have failed to bring the rebellion in Southern Rhodesia to an end and condemned the recent "inhuman executions carried out by the illegal regime in Southern Rhodesia which have flagrantly affronted the conscience of mankind". After further condemning the regime and calling upon the United Kingdom to end the rebellion in Southern Rhodesia the Council decided that all member states would:

(a) -prevent importing products originating in Southern Rhodesia after the date of this resolution regardless of the legal nature of those products
(b) - suspend any activities of their nationals in the territories of UN member states designed to promote the export of commodities of products from Southern Rhodesia
(c) - prohibit the shipment of vessels or aircraft registered in Southern Rhodesia or by Southern Rhodesians from coming into their territory.
(d) - prevent the sale or supply by their nationals or from their territories of any commodities or products (save those strictly intended for medical purposes, education, publications, news and in special humanitarian circumstances - food)
(e) - prohibit the shipment of goods by vessels, aircraft or land transport across their territory intended for Southern Rhodesia
The Council also decided that member states should not make available to the regime any commercial, industrial or public utility undertaking, including tourist enterprises, in Southern Rhodesia any funds for investment or any other financial of economic resources and shall prevent their nationals or anyone in their territories from making available any such funds or resources and from remitting any other funds to persons or bodies within Southern Rhodesia, save for pensions, medial, humanitarian, education, news and in some circumstances food-stuffs. The Council further decided that member states would prevent the entry into their territory of anyone traveling on a Southern Rhodesian passport as well as persons whom they have reason to believe to be ordinarily a resident of Southern Rhodesia and whom they have reason to believe to have furthered or encouraged, or to be likely to further or encourage, the unlawful actions of the illegal regime.

The Council then decided that all member states would prevent airline companies constituted in their territories as well as aircraft of their registration or under charter to their nationals from operation to or from Southern Rhodesia or linking up with any airline company constituted or aircraft registered in Southern Rhodesia. UN specialized agencies were called upon to take all possible measures to prevent activities promoting, assisting or encouraging emigration to Southern Rhodesia. The Council also requested member states and UN agencies to assist Zambia as a matter of priority, as the carrying out of this resolution would likely create economic problems in that country. Finally, the Council decided to establish a Committee to report on the implementation of this resolution.

#3  Contribution during WWII

Rhodesia supplied more troops per head of population to the allied war effort than any other country in the empire. One in ten of the 8500 Rhodesians of all races who served overseas were killed or died on active service. Rhodesia's most important contribution to the ultimate success of the allies, it could be argued, was the fact she provided the nucleus, and the enemy free skies, for the huge Rhodesia Air Training Group of the Royal Air Force. During the six years of war the Southern Rhodesia Air Force itself was absorbed into the RAF initially as No. 237 (Rhodesia) Squadron (in which Prime Minister Ian Smith served) and later in the form of at least two other squadrons. Of the 2409 Rhodesians who joined the Air Force, 498 were killed. The squadrons performed splendidly. (Cited from: http://www.militarian.com/threads/rhodesian-history-during-ww2.1539/)

Naqeebullah killing: Rao Anwar removed from post, placed on ECL
[GEO.TV] KARACHI: Former SSP Malir Rao Anwar has been removed from his post after the probe committee formed over the extrajudicial killing of Naqeebullah Mehsud found the 27-year-old to be innocent, a notification issued on Saturday stated.

Rao Anwar's name has also been placed on the Exit Control List (ECL) on the recommendation of the probe committee, sources said.

SSP Adeel Hussain Chandio has been assigned charge of Malir district in his place, the notification, issued by IG Sindh AD Khawaja, stated.

Speaking to media later, IG Sindh AD Khawaja said Rao Anwar has been suspended to ensure a fair inquiry into the alleged encounter that killed Naqeebullah.

The police encounter was suspicious, Khawaja remarked.

According to the initial investigation report, the committee termed SSP Rao Anwar’s allegations against Naqeebullah baseless, sources said.

In its report, the committee stated that there was no proof found of Naqeebullah being a terrorist.

The 2014 FIR presented by Anwar was also bogus, it said.

The committee in its report also recommended the registration of a case against Rao Anwar and other personnel involved in Naqeebullah’s killing.

Several dead as gunmen attack top Kabul hotel
[GEO.TV] Gunmen attacked Kabul’s Intercontinental Hotel on Saturday, seizing hostages and exchanging gunfire with security forces as the building in the Afghan capital caught fire and residents and staff fled.

Hotel manager Ahmad Haris Nayab ‐ who escaped unhurt ‐ said the attackers had got into the main part of the hotel through a kitchen and people tried to get out amid bursts of gunfire.

Several people had been killed and at least six maimed in the raid, which came days after a US embassy warning of possible attacks on hotels in Kabul, Nasrat Rahimi ‐ an interior ministry front man ‐ said.

However,
a person who gets all wrapped up in himself makes a mighty small package...
officials gave no other details on casualty numbers.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the latest in a long series of attacks, which underlined the city’s precarious situation and the ability of Death Eaters to strike blows aimed at undermining confidence in the Western-backed government.

Officials said there were as many as four attackers and at least two of them had been killed as Afghan Special Forces cleared the first floor and moved up the building, battling the raiders, who appeared to have a large supply of hand grenades.

Hours after the attack began, firing appeared to ease as security forces settled in, waiting for dawn.

According to one witness, who did not want to be named, the attackers took some hotel staff and guests hostage. He said some foreigners were among the hotel guests but it was not clear what their nationality was.

The Intercontinental Hotel ‐ located on a hilltop and heavily protected like most public buildings in Kabul ‐ was previously attacked by Taliban
...the Pashtun equivalent of men...
fighters in 2011.

Every GLAAD-Nominated Marvel Comic Book Has Been Axed
[DAILYCALLER] Comic book readers are apparently not fans of progressive politics‐a fact no more evident in Marvel’s decision to cancel every single one of its comics that has been nominated by the LGBTQ advocacy group, GLAAD.

In December, the publisher announced its decision to cancel many of its comics, citing poor sales. LGBTQ, feminist, and social justice-themed comics involving stories that revolved around Black Lives Matter, illegal immigration, and LGBTQ issues were among those to end up on the chopping block.

The Marvel titles on the awards slate have been widely derided on social media for being hamfisted, sociopolitically-charged drivel.

Syria forces wrest control of airbase in Idlib
[PRESSTV] Syrian government troops have retaken full control of the strategic military airbase of Abu al-Duhur in the northwestern province of Idlib. They also managed to liberate several villages in Idlib and the northern province of Aleppo from the grips of terrorist outfits.

As they are currently pressing ahead with their offensive in multiple fronts against Lion of Islam groups, Syrian ground forces, backed by aerial cover from the air force, fully retook the key airport on Saturday, more than two years after it came under siege by foreign-backed Lion of Islams.

The advancement is part of the army’s ongoing operations to liberate Idlib.

The so-called Women’s March on Washington was one of numerous such protest rallies waged on Saturday in hundreds of cities across the US as protesters gathered on the steps of the iconic Lincoln Memorial and stood along the lengthy Reflecting Pool, also urging more women to compete for public office.

Fears of serial child killer in infamous Pakistan city
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The body of six-year-old Zainab Fatima Ameen was dumped here in the city of Kasur -- one of a dozen such young victims in recent years.

Her shocking death has sparked nationwide outrage and fears a serial murderer may be at work.

Nusrat Bibi, Zainab's mother, said "They must have told my daughter that they would take her to me, they must have said something like this for her to follow them... Otherwise she was very wise and obedient and she knew [not to talk to strangers]." (MORE).

Zainab was the 12th child to be assaulted and murdered in the Punjabi city in the past two years.

With DNA from a single source discovered in several cases, officials believe a long-term killer is targeting children.

Fareed Khan, doctor, Kasur district hospital , said "I could say seventy, eighty percent even ninety percent of these cases, they do tend to have the same kind of injuries inflicted to them. Strangulations, having burn marks, scaring and wrist cuts and definitely a type of a total physical abuse has to be there.

It was only in 2016 that Pakistain criminalised child abuse.

The city was also where a massive pedophilia ring was uncovered in 2015 and residents are demanding tougher action.

Ghulam Fareed, a resident, said "We lock our children inside the house and tell them to study here. We pick and drop our children at school ourselves. Should we earn our livelihood or keep an eye on them."

Zainab's murder has prompted much soul-searching in Pakistain... on how to protect its most vulnerable. Answers that can't come soon enough for the people here.

Africa Horn
Al Shabaab Denies Forcibly Recruiting Children To Fight
[RADIOSHABELLE] Al-Shabaab
... the Islamic version of the old Somali warlord...
has denied that it was threatening and abducting civilians to hand over their children for indoctrination and military training.

Al-Shabaab has been fighting for years to topple Somalia’s central government and rule the Horn of Africa country according to its own interpretation of Islamic law.

Human Rights Watch (HRW) said on Monday that the gang began ordering elders and teachers in rural parts of the southern Bay region in mid-2017 to provide them with children ‐ as young as eight ‐ or face reprisals.

But an al-Shabaab front man told the Thomson Rooters Foundation the group does not recruit members below the age of 15, and that no one is forced to join. He said children were being sent to Islamic religious schools to be educated.

"There is an al-Shabaab rule in the areas we control that children should learn, and we give them teachers at boarding madrasas where they study. We have agreed with the clan elders about the education of their children," he said.

"When students complete their education, we return them to their parents. No one is forced to join our forces. We do not want children in the remote areas to become as ignorant as animals," he added, declining to be named.

HRW says the gang has recruited thousands of children for indoctrination and to become frontline fighters over the past decade, and its religious schools ‐ which began in 2015 ‐ are pressured to teach al-Shabaab’s curriculum.

"The group should immediately stop abducting children and release all children in their ranks," said Laetitia Bader, HRW’s senior Africa researcher. "The Somali government should ensure these children are not sent into harm’s way."

Newly-leaked documents describe ‘Iranian state-sanctioned persecution of Baha'is’
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Newly-released documentary evidence detailing "years of relentless oppression" suffered by the Baha’i community in Iran has been published by the Washington-based Baha’i International Community (BIC) this week.

A BIC website published thousands of official documents, reports, testimonials, and audio-visual material chronicling the "continuous, pervasive, state-sponsored persecution against the Baha’is of Iran, demonstrating the falsity of claims made by Iranian authorities that Baha’is are not discriminated against," according to a statement by the group.

The archives include cases of imprisonment and execution, acts of violence, kidnapping, the burning and destruction of homes, confiscation of properties, and the spreading of hateful propaganda through the state media.

"The compelling accounts and documents on the website provide proof of the decades of systematic implementation of policies designed to suffocate an entire community," said Diane Ala’i, Representative of the Baha’i International Community.

Most documents in the archives are related to the years following the Islamic revolution in 1979, during which the Baha’is became subject to a new wave of intense persecution. Over 200 Baha’is were executed or disappeared without a trace, the statement read.

"Baha’is continue to be denied access to university education, excluded from employment in the public sector as well as numerous professions in the private sector, and denied benefits in the pension system. They are unjustly incarcerated
Drop the heater, Studs, or you're hist'try!
, imprisoned, and sentenced to years in prison after trials lacking due process of law," it added.

The Baha’i faith is a small monotheistic religion which began in Iran in the 1800s and whose followers face regular persecution.

[360NOBS] The Nigerian military has cleared a total of 95 surrendered Boko Haram

forces of Evil having undergone De-radicalisation, Rehabilitation and Re-integration (DRR) programme organised by the military authorities through its Operation Safe Corridors.

The deradicalised Boko Haram members were certified fit for reintegration into the society.

The Chief of Defence Staff, General Gabriel Olonisakin, disclosed this yesterday in Abuja when he declared open a meeting of stakeholders to work out modalities for the reintegration of rehabilitated ex-Boko Haram fighters.

It was gathered that modalities that would determine how this would be done is being worked out by the special committee set up by the governors of Adamawa, Borno and Yobe States, the Chief of Army Staff, the Chief of Air Staff, the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and the Director General of Department of State Service (DSS) among others.

Accordingly, the de-radicalised Boko Haram members would be transferred to their various state authorities for re-integration to their communities.

The 95 surrendered Boko Haram fighters, who were admitted into military facilities located in Gombe State in July 2017, according to the military, have successfully gone through its 16-week deradicalisation programe.

Four US, Canadian captives freed in Nigeria: police
[CITIZEN.CO.ZA] Two American and two Canadians who were kidnapped in an ambush by button men in northern Nigeria this week were freed on Saturday, police said.

Nigerian security forces had launched a manhunt after the four were seized on Tuesday evening in the state of Kaduna by kidnappers who rubbed out two of their police escorts.

"They have been rescued thanks to the efforts of the police," Kaduna state police front man Muktar Aliyu said, adding that they comprised three men and one woman.

"All of them are in a good condition of health" and are now in the care of their embassies, he said.

Aliyu said they were rescued at about 5 am (0400 GMT) in the same area where they were kidnapped, but declined to give further information, saying it was "classified information".

"I cannot confirm if there have been negotiations or a ransom paid," Aliyu added.

One person suspected of links to the kidnapping ‐ the latest abduction targeting foreigners in Nigeria ‐ has been incarcerated
Please don't kill me!
, he said.

The four North Americans ‐ whose identities have not been disclosed ‐ were on private business in Kaduna when they were snatched on the road from the town of Kafanchan to the capital Abuja.

"We are aware of reports of two US citizens kidnapped and released in Nigeria. The safety and security of US citizens overseas are among our top priorities. Due to privacy considerations we have no further comment," a US State Department official told AFP.

Economy
Trump to tout US economy, urge fair trade at elite Davos forum
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] US President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
will be entering something of a lion’s den when he visits the elitist enclave of Davos next week, rubbing shoulders with the same "globalists" that he campaigned against in winning the 2016 election.

Aides said some of Trump’s advisers had argued against him attending the World Economic Forum in order to steer clear of the event, which brings together politicians, CEOs and top bankers.

But in the end, they said, Trump, the first sitting US president to attend the forum since Bill Clinton
...former Democratic president of the U.S. Bill was the second U.S. president to be impeached, the first to deny that oral sex was sex, the first to have difficulty with the definition of is...
in 2000, wanted to go to call attention to growth in the US economy and the soaring stock market.

A senior administration official said Trump is expected to take a double-edged message to the forum in Switzerland
...home of the Helvetians, famous for cheese, watches, yodeling, and William Tell...
, where he is to deliver a speech and meet some world leaders.

In his speech, Trump is expected to urge the world to invest in the United States to take advantage of his deregulatory and tax cut policies, stress his "America First" agenda and call for fairer, more reciprocal trade, the official said.

Blaming globalization
During his 2016 election campaign, Trump blamed globalization for ravaging American manufacturing jobs as companies sought to reduce labor costs by relocating to Mexico and elsewhere.

"Globalization has made the financial elite who donate to politicians very wealthy. But it has left millions of our workers with nothing but poverty and heartache," he said on June 28, 2016, in Pennsylvania.

Trump retains the same anti-globalist beliefs but has struggled to rewrite trade deals that he sees as benefiting other countries.

Trump will be speaking two days after German Chancellor Angela Merkel
...chancellor of Germany and the impetus behind Germany's remarkably ill-starred immigration program. Merkel used to be referred to by Germans as Mom. Now they make faces at her for inundating the country with Moslems ..
and French President Emmanuel Macron take the stage in Davos.

Both ardent defenders of multilateralism and liberal democratic values, they are expected to lay out the
counter-argument to Trump’s "America First" policies. Merkel and Macron have lobbied Trump hard to keep the United States in the Gay Paree climate accord and Iran nuclear pact, only for him to distance himself from those deals.

Trump will meet with British Prime Minister Theresa May in Davos, the White House said.

There is acute concern in European capitals that 2018 could be the year Trump’s bark on trade turns into bite, as he considers punitive measures on steel and threatens to end the 90s-era North American Free Trade Agreement with Canada and Mexico.

Iraq
New vote on Iraq poll date ‘by Monday’ as Abadi meets Kurdistan region PM
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Iraq's parliament failed on Saturday to approve May 12 as the election date, as suggested by the government, as Sunni and Kurdish politicians demanded a delay to allow hundreds of thousands of war-displaced people to return home.

Shi'ite politicians, including Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi, insist on holding the election as planned on May 12, saying a delay would be against the constitution.

Speaking after Saturday's session in Baghdad, Parliamentary Speaker Salim al-Jabouri, a Sunni, expressed hope that parliament would be able to vote on an election date by Monday, state TV reported.

Abadi is seeking re-election, building on a surge in his popularity among Iraq's majority Shi'ite Arab community after leading the three-year fight against Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
bully boys, supported by a U.S.-led coalition.

"Postponing the elections would set a dangerous precedent, undermining the constitution and damaging Iraq’s long-term democratic development," the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad said in a statement on Thursday.

Meanwhile,
...back at the palazzo, Count Guido had escaped from his bonds and overwhelmed his guard using the bludgeon the faithful Filomena had smuggled to him in the loaf of bread...
Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi met on Saturday in Baghdad with the semi-autonomous

Kurdistan region's Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani, a Kurdish official said.

It is the first meeting between Abadi and a top leader of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) since conflict broke out between Baghdad and the region's authorities over a Kurdish independence referendum held in northern Iraq on Sept. 25.

Washington had shown understanding for Abadi's move in October to dislodge Kurdish fighters from the oil rich northern region of Kirkuk,
... a thick stew of Arabs, Turkmen, Kurds, and probably Antarcticans, all of them mutually hostile most of the time...
even though the Kurds are traditional allies of the United States.

Tens of thousands of Kurds were displaced as a result of the takeover of the ethnically mixed areas of Kirkuk and its surroundings by Iraqi forces supported by Iranian-backed paramilitary groups.

Maliki said: "This hostile action by the Houthi group backed by Iran proves the continued involvement of the Iranian regime’s support to the Houthi gang with qualitative capabilities in clear and explicit defiance of the violation of UN resolution (2216) and resolution (2231) in order to threaten the security of Soddy Arabia

Turkey launches major new ground and air cross border operation in Syria
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The Ottoman Turkish army on Saturday confirmed it had started a major new ground and air cross border operation against the People’s Protection Units (YPG) militia in Syria, which The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...just another cheapjack Moslem dictatorship, brought to you by the Moslem Brüderbund....
deems to be a terror organization.

Dubbing the new campaign operation ’Olive Branch’, the Ottoman Turkish army said it had begun at 1400 GMT and was aimed against the YPG and also ISIS Death Eaters.

The army also said the operation would be carried out "with respect for Syria's territorial integrity" and stemmed from Turkey’s rights under international law.

In latest reports, Turkey’s state-run news agency
...and if you can't believe the state-run news agency who can you believe?...
said Ottoman Turkish jets have attacked a military airport in northwest Syria that is under the control of a Syrian Kurdish military group.

Anadolu Agency said the jets struck Mannagh air base.

Separately, the agency quoted Turkey’s military officials as saying warplanes had so far struck 108 out of a total of 113 Syrian Kurdish militia targets in the Afrin region.

Turkey said it was informing Syrian Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
Scourge of Qusayr...
’s regime of its new offensive against Syrian Kurdish militia regarded as a terror group by Ankara, in a rare official contact with Damascus.

"We informed all parties on what we are doing. We are even informing the Syrian regime in writing," Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu told the 24 TV broadcaster. "Even though we don’t have relations with the regime, we are taking our steps in compliance with the international law."

Turkey has been one of the leading foes of Assad’s regime since the outbreak of the civil war in 2011.

Russia voices concern
Meanwhile,
...back at the mall, Clarissa suddenly spied Mr. Bartlett at the checkout counter. He was buying Grecian Formula!...
Russia voiced concern and urged restraint over a new Ottoman Turkish operation to oust Kurdish militia from a northern Syrian enclave in Syria.

"Moscow is concerned at this news. We call on the opposing parties to show restraint," the foreign ministry said in a statement after the launch of an operation which has also drawn US warnings.

Russia's Defense Ministry said it was pulling back troops that had been deployed near the Syrian city of Afrin after bombing strikes by Ottoman Turkish warplanes.

In a statement reported on Russian news agencies, the ministry said Saturday that "to prevent possible provocations, to exclude the threat to life and health of Russian servicemen, the operational group of the Center for Reconciliation of warring parties and military police in the Afrin area is relocated to the Tell-Adjar area."

Tell-Adjar is within a so-called "de-escalation zone" established in September.

There were no immediate reports of how many Russian servicemen were affected by the move.

Yildirim confirms aerial offensive
Ottoman Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim said Ottoman Turkish jets had begun an aerial offensive against the Syrian Kurdish-held enclave of Afrin in northwestern Syria.

"As of this moment our brave Armed Forces have started the aerial offensive to eliminate the PYD and PKK and ISIS elements in Afrin," said Yildirim at a speech in the city of Bilecik, referring to the Kurdish Democratic Union Party and the Kurdistan Worker’s Party respectively, and using an Arabic acronym for the ISIS group.

Turkey’s state-run news agency, meanwhile, said that a group of Ottoman Turkish-backed Syrian opposition forces crossed into the area on Saturday as part of an offensive to oust a militia group Turkey considers to be terrorists.

News Agency that Dare Not be Named journalists at the Ottoman Turkish border saw at least five jets heading toward Afrin. They also witnessed a convoy of buses, believed to be carrying Syrian opposition fighters, traveling along the border across from Afrin. The convoy included trucks mounted with machine guns.

Rojhat Roj, a front man for the Syrian Kurdish militia group, confirmed that a Ottoman Turkish plane was striking Afrin city.

A Syrian Kurdish YPG front man in Afrin said people were maimed in Ottoman Turkish air strikes on Afrin, even though it was unclear how many. Ottoman Turkish warplanes were striking Afrin city and several villages around it, he said.

The warplanes struck residential parts of Afrin, forcing people to hole up in their homes and in shelters, a senior Kurdish official there said.

Hevi Mustafa, a top member of the civilian administration that governs Afrin, said several maimed people had arrived in the hospitals.

Syrian Kurdish YPG militia in a statement said that Ottoman Turkish authorities have started "an aggressive war against our people in Afrin, targeting civilian districts with air strikes."

YPG said "we have no choice but to resist" after the Ottoman Turkish attacks. "Wwe will defeat this aggression like we have defeated other assaults against our cities."

Erdogan speech
Ottoman Turkish President Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First
... Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him. It's a sin, a shame, and a felony to insult the president of Turkey...
had earlier said on Saturday that Ankara had "de-facto" already launched an operation on the ground to oust Kurdish militia from the Syrian town of Afrin.

"The Afrin operation has de-facto been started on the ground," Erdogan said in a televised speech in the city of Kutahya, without specifying further.

"This will be followed by Manbij," he added, referring to another Kurdish-controlled Syrian town to the east.

Speaking to the members of his ruling AK Party in the western province of Kutahya, Erdogan did not specify if that meant Ottoman Turkish troops had crossed the border.

Earlier, the Ottoman Turkish army said it launched new strikes on Saturday against the Kurdish People's Protection Units (YPG) militia in northern Syria. The army said it shelled Kurdish positions in Afrin on Friday and Saturday, hitting shelters and hideouts used by bandidos murderous Moslems from three groups.

Erdogan is a complete idiot. He has led with his chin on this as his emasculated and terrorized military cannot fight with battle hardened Kurds...and who in the Turkish military wants to fight for him anyway.

#6  Which ones are friendly to the West

I’d think they’re all friendly to the West, Hupeaque Slearong4953, as various nations are providing weapons and training. It is my understanding, such as it is, that all the Kurdish parties range from European-style center left to stright up Marxist-Leninist Communists historically supported by the Soviet Union. As I recall, the YPG are Syrian Kurdish commies, while the PKK are Turkish Kurdish commies, now living in Iraq. Perhaps someone with deeper understanding and a better memory could amend, add, and correct the above.

#7  The West likes the Kurds because they stood up to ISIS better than anyone else in the West. Even though they claim to be communists they promote democracy. I think that is to gain support from the west.

Turkey is Islamic so there and the Kurds are not, therefore the Kafirs must die per the Islamists.

DR Congo army ‘at war’ with two militia groups: minister
[CITIZEN.CO.ZA] The defence minister for the Democratic Republic of the Congo
...formerly the Congo Free State, Belgian Congo, Zaire, and who knows what else, not to be confused with the Brazzaville Congo aka Republic of Congo, which is much smaller and much more (for Africa) stable. DRC gave the world Patrice Lumumba and Joseph Mobutu, followed by years of tedious civil war. Its principle industry seems to be the production of corpses. With a population of about 74 million it has lots of raw material...
on Friday said the army was waging ’war’ against two militia forces in the country’s troubled east.

Crispin Atama Thabe told AFP that government forces were tackling rebels in both South Kivu province and neighbouring North Kivu, where deaths were reported on both sides in recent days.

According to the army, it is fighting the Ugandan Salafist tough guys of the Allied Democratic Force (ADF) in North Kivu, while battling the Congolese Yakutumba militia several hundred kilometres away in South Kivu.

"Our priorities are: the ADF, settled in the territory of Beni, and the gang Yakutumba in the territory of Fizi," Thabe said.

The army resumed its bombing in Beni, North Kivu, on Friday afternoon, according to an AFP correspondent.

Earlier in the day, two army positions were attacked by suspected ADF rebels near the Ugandan border. Four rebels were killed, according to the region’s army front man Captain Mak Hazukay.

A military source, speaking on condition of anonymity

, said five soldiers had died. Another source said the toll had been "heavy" but gave no further details.

Trump’s first year in office was deplorable: Journalist
[PRESSTV] US President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
’s first year in the White House was "deplorable," according to Stephen Lendman, a journalist, writer and political analyst based in reliably Democrat Chicago, aka The Windy City or Mobtown
... home of Al Capone, a succession of Daleys, Barak Obama, and Rahm Emmanuel,...
.

Lendman made the remarks in an interview with Press TV on Saturday, when Trump is celebrating his one year in office.

Trump was sworn in as the 45th president of the United States on January 20, 2017, following his astonishing election victory against the Democratic rival, Perennial Presidential Campaigner Hillary Crooked Hillary Clinton
... former first lady, former secretary of state, former presidential candidate, Conqueror of Benghazi, Heroine of Tuzla, formerly described by her supporters as the smartest woman in the world, usually described by the rest of us as The Thing That Wouldn't Go Away...
, in the November 8, 2016 election.

"He broke every major promise he made for ordinary Americans. In his inaugural address a year ago today he pledged that he would be the president of all Americans, not just some of them," Lendman said.

"But he has just done the opposite of that. He has been the president exclusively for America’s privileged class, for Wall Street, for war mongers, for big oil. This is what he has done in his first year in office, showing what he will continue to be doing for the rest of his term would be more of the same," he added.

"’The government in Washington is now going back to the people,’ that’s what he said he year ago. Oh, the people he meant were the privileged class in Washington, not everybody else. Ordinary people are left out. And that’s exactly the way he has governed. Horribly. Along with inheriting Obama’s wars and escalating them, he’s waging multiple wars of aggression," the analyst stated.

Parched for a price: Karachi's water crisis

Residents of Karachi, one of the largest cities in the world, are being held hostage by a ‘mafia’ that makes millions of dollars out of their need for water.

Orangi is a maze, a spider’s web of narrow, winding lanes, broken roads and endless rows of small concrete houses. More than two million people are crammed into what is one of the world’s largest unplanned settlements here in western Karachi, Pakistan’s largest city.

Turkish PM says land forces will make 'necessary activities' in Syria today
[GEO.TV] Ottoman Turkish land forces will carry out the "necessary activities" into Syria’s Afrin province on Sunday depending on developments in the region, Prime Minister Binali Yildirim said on Saturday.

Speaking to news hounds hours after Ottoman Turkish armed forces launched an operation against a US-backed Kurdish militia in Syria’s Afrin province, Yildirim said the military had destroyed nearly all targets it identified in the region with air strikes.

The media just can’t stop making themselves look worse than Trump
[NYPOST] Every morning, it seems, President Trump’s most determined opponents awake to find out what sort of obnoxious, fact-challenged, puerile, norm-breaking thing he has offered that day and say to themselves: "Oh, that’s nothing. We can do something dumber than that!"

So the nation wades from one bizarre and nonsensical controversy to another. As I write this, I can’t even recall what topic we were debating last week, but I’m certain it was idiotic. Part of the problem is that those who drive coverage of Trump are obsessed with the president in unhealthy ways, ways that have absolutely nothing to do with policy or governance.

For a couple of weeks now, our self-styled guardians of democracy have engaged in a concocted controversy about the president’s mental state. It wasn’t only liberal columnists plying their readers with this wishful thinking; the entire city of Washington, according to Politico, was consumed with using the 25th Amendment to remove the president. It was a major topic of conversation on the Sunday shows. Former Trump booster Joe Scarborough squeezed a week of coverage out of it.

When the president’s physician, Dr. Ronny Jackson ‐ a man who has been the White House doctor since 2006 ‐ explained that Trump is, in fact, "very healthy" and has "incredible genes" and excellent cognitive health, the White House press corps was in disbelief. I mean, Michael Wolff had told us the opposite was true.

One news hound asked why Trump "appeared to slur his words" at a recent presser. Another news hound asked why Trump had the "sniffles." Everyone was worried about his insalubrious meal plans. "Is he limited to one scoop of ice cream now?" a real news hound asked the presidential doctor.

Jonathan Karl of ABC asked, and I kid you not, "Can you explain to me how a guy that eats McDonald’s and Kentucky Fried Chicken and all those Diet Cokes, and who never exercises, is in as good of shape as you say he’s in?" Confirming what everyone in the world who eats right and exercises daily yet still struggles to keep their weight down already knows, Jackson answered, "It’s called genetics."

More importantly, the doctor also said Trump passed an extensive cognitive exam that tests for "all those things" and repeated the conclusion that the president doesn’t suffer from mental issues. So the conspiracy theories began on social media, not by random tweeters but by White House correspondents of the nation’s leading newspapers and leading news hounds of the nation’s biggest networks.

Towering air purifier will bring fresh air to smog-choked Xi'an
[The Times] An experimental air purifier more than 100m tall has cut pollution levels in a Chinese city, offering the possibility of reducing smog across the country.

The tower, the world’s largest purifier, improved air quality in a 10 sq km area over the past few months, according to the scientist leading the project.

It was the brainchild of China’s most respected science institute, whose researchers hope the technology, once proved effective, can be used in hospitals, schools and residential areas.

Seven Niger troops killed in Boko Haram attack
[CITIZEN.CO.ZA] At least seven Niger soldiers were killed and more than a dozen others maimed this week in an attack by suspected Boko Haram
... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality...
bandidos holy warriors in the country’s southeast, the government said on Friday.

"The provisional toll for the cowardly terror attack on Wednesday night in Toummour is seven dead, seventeen maimed and one soldier missing," said a cabinet statement.

Toummour is located in the Diffa administrative region, which lies on the border with Nigeria and Chad. It has suffered a string of deadly Boko Haram attacks since February 2015, although the area has been relatively calm in recent months.

Last week, the United Nations
...an organization originally established to war on dictatorships which was promptly infiltrated by dictatorships and is now held in thrall to dictatorships...
said there had been a sharp fall in the number of Niger civilians kidnapped, killed or maimed by Boko Haram last year, citing an overall toll of 141 compared with 227 a year earlier.

It did not detail the number of military casualties.

Boko Haram launched an insurgency in northeast Nigeria
... a particularly crimson stretch of Islam's bloody border...
in 2009 that in 2015 spilt into Niger. It also affects the country’s other neighbours, Chad and Cameroon
...a long, narrow country that fills the space between Nigeria and Chad on the northeast, CAR to the southeast. Prior to incursions by Boko Haram nothing ever happened there...

Gambians enjoy freedom post-Jammeh, but criticise economy
[CITIZEN.CO.ZA] A year ago, Gambia
... The Gambia is actually surrounded by Senegal on all sides but its west coast. It has a population of about 1.7 million. The difference between the two is that in colonial days Senegal was ruled by La Belle France and The Gambia (so-called because there's only one of it, unlike Guinea, of which there are the Republic of Guinea, Equatorial Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, New Guinea, the English coin in circulation between 1663 and 1813, and Guyana, which sounds like it should be another one) was ruled by Britain...
ns wept for joy as Yahya Jammeh went into exile, bringing the curtain down on a brutal 22-year rule.

Today, many say freedom of speech in this small west African state is a right they cherish under President Adama Barrow’s administration.

"There is a democracy, everybody feels free. Disappearances without a trace ‐ all that’s over now," said teacher Kalipha Dampha, referring to the dreaded work of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) and the "Junglers," as Jammeh’s death squad was called.

But The Gambia’s faltering economy has barely improved and tensions over mass unemployment are rising.

Today, many are now asking when the better days they were promised will come.

"Food prices are still the same, salaries have not increased, the health sector is a shambles, the education sector is a farce," Ismaila Ceesay, a professor of political science at the University of The Gambia, stated bluntly in an AFP interview.

In terms of the economy, he argued, Barrow’s government is simply "following and inheriting the ideas of Yahya Jammeh," albeit minus the state of terror.

Arun Kumar Manhas, Jammu deputy commissioner, said the latest deaths on Saturday raised the corpse count to eight after days of cross-border festivities.

"Two people were killed in RS Pura and one was killed in another village near the border area," Manhas told Al Jazeera, adding that civilians living within five kilometres of the border were evacuated to safer places.
