#8  A hefty annual fine for failing to burn corn-gas and fuel tax avoidance

If there was a way to turn corn-gas back into food AND a Value Added Tax on each stage of the process, you could close the loop and create a perpetual funding machine.

Note: if you could turn corn-gas back into its original components, namely food and dinosaurs, that would be even cooler.

‘Empire’ To End After Upcoming Season 6; Still “No Plans” For Jussie Smollett Return
[Deadline, via Drudge] - The reign of Empire on Fox is coming to an end next year.

Just two weeks after the Charlie Collier-run Fox Entertainment renewed Lee Daniels and Danny Strong’s hip hop drama for a sixth season and showed controversy ladened Jussie Smollett towards the exit door, it was announced today on Fox’s Upfront call that the self described "groundbreaking cultural phenomenon" of Empire will be canceled once Season 6 s done.
I had no idea it was Season 6 coming up - I only heard of this show about a year ago.

Money shot:

Questioned about the possibility that the legally challenged Smollett could return for the final season, Collier dodged and replied with language reminiscent of last month’s press release. "There’s an option to have Jussie in the series but we have no plans for that," he said, noting that the writers’ room for Season 6 hasn’t even been opened yet.

#6  There almost undoubtedly is an option; contracts in this business usually have "options" has a way to get somebody to come back without committing to use them ahead of time. Even if they are planning to use him again, they would never say so because if they change their mind, he could conceivably sue them for lying on the record and possibly convincing him to keep his schedule open (this would be true for anyone). In this case, not surprised it is ending. I am surprised it lasted for more than 3 episodes though. I saw an advertisement for season one at some point when it was first about to air and it looked like hot garbage then.

Facebook SWAT Team Arrests Man For Illegal Possession Of Conservative Views
[Babylon Bee] LA MESA, CA‐As part of a widespread crackdown on unacceptable viewpoints on the social network, Facebook sent out its SWAT teams Monday to arrest local man Kent Rogers for illegal possession of conservative views.

After Facebook took out several fringe personalities last week, conservatives thought they were in the clear, but it turns out they were just next on the list.

Rogers' arrest was part of a broader push against the illegal conservative view trade, which is estimated to affect millions of innocent Americans every year. Facebook SWAT specialists lined up outside his house for an early-morning, no-knock raid after he was caught posting a meme about Hillary Clinton's 30,000 missing emails on his page.

"We booked him on possession of several tons of illicit viewpoints, including the idea that government should be relatively small, Christian values are generally a good thing, and cisgendered males aren't always bad," one lieutenant of the Facebook SWAT force said. "Residents of La Mesa can rest easy tonight knowing these ideas are off the streets."

Proud officers took pictures with their haul, including hundreds of deadly books that question a far-left worldview, a signed picture of Ronald Reagan, and a copy of The Art of the Deal, a banned substance in all 50 states.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Chuck Norris: Happy 71st Birthday Israel
[WND] This week marks the 71st birthday (or rebirth) of Israel as a nation. Happy Birthday, Israel! And a big congrats to our friend and the prime minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu (Bibi), for winning his fifth term in office this past month!

For those who might not be real familiar with the rebirth of Israel as a nation, let me briefly summarize the story. In 1947, the newly established United Nations officially accepted the idea to divide or partition the Holy Land ‐ including Jerusalem ‐ into a region for the Jews (Israel) and a region for the Arabs (Palestine). As a result, Britain relinquished its stronghold in the area on May 14, 1948, when Israel gave its Declaration of Independence

Tel Aviv became the temporary seat of government until the state of Israel moved it to Jerusalem in December 1949. Despite the shift in location, the U.S. embassy was built in Tel Aviv in 1966. At the same time, believe it or not, the U.S. consulate has had a presence in West Jerusalem since 1844. Yes, you read that year correctly. (It is further interesting to note that other countries ‐ like Britain and France ‐ have their consulates in East Jerusalem ‐ yes, East Jerusalem.)

The new U.S. embassy officially moved last year under president Trump’s direction on the site of the U.S. consulate general. We are the first country to open an embassy in Jerusalem since before 1980, while 86 countries continue today to have their embassies in Tel Aviv.

Sanity Reigns As Transsexual Powerlifter Is Ruled To Actually Be A Cowboy
[Red State] In late April, controversy hit the sport of women’s powerlifting. A dude...I’m sorry, I mean a man who wants us to believe he’s a woman...who goes by the name of Mary Gregory basically rewrote the record books as he took nine medals and shattered existing records.

"Mary" has only been using drugs to emulate feminine characteristics for 11 months.
Temporary insanity? *ducks*
Gregory is a construction worker, and said she lacks the insurance coverage for bottom surgery. Although she is a lesbian, she said she isn’t in any hurry to get it.

#1  Another story from the Far Side. Bruce Jenner wanted to become Caitlyn. Then Caitlyn's former bodyguard Mark Behar wanted to become Bruce Jenner by a legal name change. Hey Plugs - You want the CBC vote, here's what it will take
[Politico] The Congressional Black Caucus may have found an answer to its Joe Biden dilemma: Vice President Kamala Harris.

Some black lawmakers are agonizing over whether to back Biden or two members of the close-knit caucus ‐ Sens. Harris and Cory Booker ‐ who are also vying for the White House, according to interviews with a dozen CBC members.

But with the former vice president jumping out to a huge, if early, lead in the polls, several CBC members are warming to the idea of a Biden-Harris ticket to take on President Donald Trump.

"That would be a dream ticket for me, a dream ticket!" said Rep. Lacy Clay (D-Mo.). "If she is not the nominee, that would be a dream ticket for this country."

Harris is everything the 76-year-old Biden is not. The freshman senator from California is younger, a woman and a person of color. As Biden gets dinged for his bipartisan bromides, Harris is winning applause from progressives for her merciless cross-examination of Trump officials.

Latest Sri Lanka arrest throws spotlight on Wahhabism in eastern hotbed
KATTANKUDY, Sri Lanka (Reuters) - Sri Lankan authorities have arrested a Saudi-educated scholar for what they claim are links with Zahran Hashim, the suspected ringleader of the Easter Sunday bombings, throwing a spotlight on the rising influence of Salafi-Wahhabi Islam on the island’s Muslims.

Mohamed Aliyar, 60, is the founder of the Centre for Islamic Guidance, which boasts a mosque, a religious school and a library in Zahran’s hometown of Kattankudy, a Muslim-dominated city on Sri Lanka’s eastern shores.

“Information has been revealed that the suspect arrested had a close relationship with ... Zahran and had been operating financial transactions,” said a police statement late on Friday.

The statement said Aliyar was “involved” with training in the southern town of Hambantota for the group of suicide bombers who attacked hotels and churches on Easter, killing over 250 people.

A police spokesman declined to provide details on the accusations.

Wahhabism certainly doesn't believe in peace and they aren't a friend of the west and pretending these things just encouraged them.

#3  Ironically but not surprisingly, the wahabists of today are joined by local communists, anarchists and many minority or anti-incumbency outfits in their long game. Of course funded and helped by the Saudis and others. Together they try to destabilize societal structures, infiltrate govt. organs and media, dissuade and demoralize conventional liberal democracy.

It is their theory that it 'exposes' the frailty of western/oriental society and culture, and then they can replace it with their shit.

To render it helpless, local govt.s will need to cruelly make examples of its proponents. This catch and release, legalistic approach is just counterproductive. You need to go full Duterte on them.

Saudi Arabia says 2 oil tankers damaged by sabotage attacks
DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) ‐ Saudi Arabia said Monday two of its oil tankers were sabotaged off the coast of the United Arab Emirates in attacks that caused "significant damage" to the vessels, one of them as it was en route to pick up Saudi oil to take to the United States

The announcement by the kingdom’s energy minister, Khalid al-Falih, came as the U.S. issued a new warning to sailors and the UAE’s regional allies condemned the reported sabotage Sunday of four ships off the coast of the port city of Fujairah.

The statement came just hours after Iranian and Lebanese media outlets aired false reports of explosions at the city’s port. Emirati officials have declined to elaborate on the nature of the sabotage or say who might have been responsible.

However, the reports come as the U.S. has warned ships that "Iran or its proxies" could be targeting maritime traffic in the region, and as America is deploying an aircraft carrier and B-52 bombers to the Persian Gulf to counter alleged threats from Tehran.

Shortly after the Saudi announcement, Iran’s Foreign Ministry called for further clarification about what exactly happened with the Saudi tankers. The ministry’ spokesman, Abbas Mousavi, was quoted by the official IRNA news agency as saying there should be more information about the incident.

At the time, most tanker tracking data came precisely from transponders and port authorities, which made most Iranian tanker movement reports unreliable. This, in turn, contributed to the October-December oil price drop when it emerged that Iran was shipping more crude abroad than previously believed.

'It's time to rise up,' Venezuelan general tells military officers in video
CARACAS (Reuters) - A Venezuelan general called on the country’s armed forces on Sunday to rise up against President Nicolas Maduro, who has relied on the backing of the military to hold on to power despite an economic collapse.

Ramon Rangel, who identified himself as an air force general, said the Venezuelan government is being controlled by the "communist dictatorship" in Cuba - a key Maduro ally.

"We have to find a way to get rid of the fear, to go out into the streets, to protest, and to seek a military union to change this political system," Rangel, dressed in a suit with a copy of the constitution in his hand, said in a video posted on YouTube. "It’s time to rise up."

While Rangel’s pronouncement marks another blow to Maduro after a handful of similar defections by senior officers this year, there is little to indicate that he will tip the scales.

Officers who have disavowed Maduro have fled the country and the military top brass - most notably those who command troops - continues to recognize Maduro.

The information ministry did not respond immediately to a request for comment. Reuters was also unable to obtain comment from Rangel.

Miami man arrested for threatening antisemitic phone calls to bagel shop
[Jpost] A Miami man was placed in durance vile
Into the paddy wagon wit' yez!
for making threatening phone calls to a local bagel shop.

The man called the Bagel Time Café several times on May 6, and in his last call threatened to "get rid of" Jews, Miami’s Local10 reported.

The man first told the owners over the telephone that he would "expose you all" after asking if they were Jewish. In another call he said that Jews were taking over the world, saying, "We’re going to make sure you can’t overpopulate like you are now and we’re going to get rid of you." He added: "I’m here. That’s my mission," according to the report.

Jorge Mateo Rucinque, 26, was arrested the following day, Miami’s Local10 reported.

He reportedly told officers of the Miami Beach Police Department’s Intelligence Unit that he sought out Jewish businesses by searching the internet for key words such as "Jews" and "kosher." Rucinque works as an Uber driver.

Yehoshua Nodel, who owns the café with his wife, said they called in the police because they felt threatened, especially in light of the attack a week earlier on a synagogue in Poway, Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party,.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Former Miss Iraq lashes out against Pink Floyd's Roger Waters
[Jpost] Ex-Pink Floyd member Roger Waters has been one of Israel's strongest critics. Now, less than a week before the Eurovision song contest is meant to take place in Tel Aviv, he has vamped up his anti-Israel efforts, calling on the world to boycott the Eurovision contest this year.

Former Miss Iraq, Sarah Idan, took to Twitter to speak out against Waters' recent rhetoric, condemning his support of the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement.

"An artist has power to inspire, wrote Idan. "Make sure you use your power for good and to bring people together. I never understood artists who boycott an entire country, you’re singing for people not for governments."

Roger Waters took to social media on Thursday afternoon to express his pride in a Swiss petition that demanded Eurovision "pull out of the finals in Tel Aviv," during which he compared Israelis to aliens, although "it's giving aliens a bad name."

Waters spoke of a conversation he had with BDS founder Omar Barghouti, who told him about the petition, which was signed by 136,000 Swiss people.

Two years ago, Idan's family left Iraq due to threats to their lives, some allegedly from Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth",, over her modeling in a bikini and posting photos taken with Miss Israel on social media.

Idan now lives in the United States and the rest of her family has now fled the country, Miss Israel, Adar Gandelsman, told Channel 13 news. Gandelsman said she has been in touch with Idan since the pageant and that the two women have a special relationship.

"She did it to so that people can understand that it’s possible to live together," Gandelsman said. "In order for people to see that we can connect, in the end we are both human beings."

Idan has not removed the photo from her Instagram account and has defended the photo in a post written in Arabic on Instagram.

"I want to stress that the purpose of the picture was only to express hope and desire for peace between the two countries," she wrote in her post. She said the photo does not signal support for the Israeli government and apologized if the photo was harmful to the Paleostinian cause.

Waters has been vocal about his anti-Israel stances, having told Madonna not to come to Israel when it was announced that she would be making an appearance at Eurovision. "If you believe in human rights
...which are usually open to widely divergent definitions...
... don't play in Tel Aviv," he published in a statement directed at Madonna.

Last December, Waters, responded to a Jerusalem Post article reporting that the UK Pink Floyd Experience will be performing in Israel, despite having previously canceled.

"I'm sorry you buckled boys, I could, and would, have helped you resist had you asked," Waters wrote on his Facebook page. He further explained that Israeli media is "trying to paint [him] as a wicked bully rather than a concerned human rights activist."

#10  It's pretty clear that Waters was traumatized by his father's death in WWII. But now, instead of honoring his father's sacrifice, it seems Waters would have preferred to appease the Nazis just like he wants Israelis to appease Palestinians who want nothing more than to kill Jews.

It's a shame. In their early years, Pink Floyd music was grand, soaring and astounding like nothing that anybody had ever heard. Waters was a great bass player and after Syd Barrett's departure he wrote most of the band's songs. But a great deal of the band's success must also be attributed to his band mates who were also excellent musicians. After a while it seemed that Water's lyrics were always on the subjects of war and madness and it grew tiresome.

Then, like a lot of big stars, his ego compelled him to leave his band. His solo career was a flop. On his own, he was not a good enough singer and musician. His BDS advocacy is tedious, annoying and above all arrogant. He spends his time telling other artists not to perform in Israel as if he has some kind of authority when in reality he is nothing more than a miserable old has been.

Migrants force entry in Spain's Melilla exclave
[DW] Fifty-two migrants colonists have forced their way into Spain's North African exclave from Morocco by scaling the border fence. The territory has become a regular flashpoint for African migrants colonists in recent years.
Set headline F-17, Fred.
The migrants colonists tried to storm the barbed wire fence at dawn, but Spanish and Moroccan security forces prevented "around half" from entering Melilla.

Four Spanish border coppers and one migrant were maimed in the incident.

The others were taken to a temporary migrant accommodation center where they were given new clothes.

EU TERRITORY IN AFRICA
Spain has two exclaves on the north coast of Africa: Ceuta, located at the Strait of Gibraltar; and Melilla, 250 kilometers (155 miles) further east on the Mediterranean coast.

Near these two territories, tens of thousands of migrants from African countries are waiting for a chance to enter the EU's only land borders with Africa.

Melilla and Ceuta are often used as entry points into Europe for African migrants, who either climb over their border fences or try to swim along the coast.

Spain became the leading entry point to Europe last year, with some 60,000 migrants arriving irregularly, almost all of them by crossing the Mediterranean in small boats.

Syrian Army’s first major push to capture key mountaintop town ends in disaster
[ALMASDARNEWS] The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) suffered heavy casualties in the northeastern countryside of the Latakia Governorate, today, after they attempted to capture the key mountaintop town of Kabani near the Idlib border.

Led by the 42nd Brigade (Ghiath Forces) of the 4th Armored Division, the Syrian Arab Army began the assault by firing a large number of missiles towards the jihadist positions in Kabani.

Following the missile strikes, the Syrian Arab Army made their first major push to capture Kabani from the jihadist rebels of the Turkestan Islamic Party (TIP) and Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham
.

However,
there is a theory which states that if ever anybody discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened...
per a military source in Latakia, the Syrian Army suffered heavy losses during the attack, which forced them to fall back to the southern slope of the Zuwayqat Mountain.

The source said the total number of casualties is still unknown at the moment, but put the estimate between 20-25 killed or maimed.

Kabani is located on the highest mountain in the Latakia Governorate; this has made it incredibly difficult for the Syrian Army and their allies to capture.

Due to its proximity to the Idlib Governorate and strategic city of Jisr al-Shughour, Kabani is considered a top priority for the Syrian military in the Latakia Governorate.

(IS) killed 11 Nigerian soldiers in an attack on the northeastern town of Gajiganna, the group claimed through its news agency AMAQ on Saturday.

The Jihadist organization said the attack on the soldiers took place in the town in northeastern Borno state on Friday. It published pictures of burned barracks and dead bodies it claimed belonged to the soldiers.

Three sources, including one hospital source, confirmed the attack. They said the gunnies stormed the town on a cycle of violence at roughly 6:30 p.m. (1730 GMT) and opened fire on residents and the military in sporadic shootings.

The fighters fled after the military called in air force support and reinforcements from a battalion in a neighboring town.

The group split in 2016 from Nigeria-based Boko Haram

The defendants were convicted on charges including murder, attempted murder, and leading and financing a bad boy group.

Kandahar crossings: ISIS recruiter caught heading to Pakistan, 22 bad guy casualties sent back to Pakland

ISIS recruiter arrested in Kandahar before crossing into Pakistan

[KhaamaPress] A recruiter of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) terrorist group was arrested before he manages to cross the Line of Durand to Pakistan, the local officials said Saturday.

Provincial governor of Kandahar Hayatullah Hayat told reporters that the detained ISIS recruiter has been identified as Abdul Salam.

Hayat further added that Salam has recently visited Kandahar province to recruit militants in ISIS ranks.

According to Hayat, the ISIS recruiter was previously operating in eastern Kunar province where he was leading a group of at least 100 ISIS militants.

The governor of Kandahar also added that the ISIS leader was arrested as he was attempting to cross the Line of Durand and visit Pakistan.

The anti-government armed elements including ISIS sympathizers have not commented regarding the arrest of the group’s recruiter so far.

Provincial Police Chief Gen. Tadin Khan Achakzai confirmed that the clash took place close to the residence of Nadir Khan, an Afghan Local Police Commander in Maruf district.

Gen. Tadin Khan further added that the militants were killed or wounded during a direct clash and the dead bodies of the militants along with the wounded individuals were shifted to the other side of Durand Line.

The anti-government armed militants including Taliban have not commented regarding the casualties inflicted on group’s militants so far.

Graham pushing to declassify key 'document' on Steele dossier, announces new asylum law package
[FoxNews] Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Lindsey Graham exclusively told "Sunday Morning Futures" that he is working to declassify a sensitive "document" that definitively proves that authorities knew the Steele dossier -- which the FBI used to justify the secret surveillance of a former Trump aide -- lacked any substantial independent corroboration.

Graham also previewed legislation he will introduce on Wednesday to halt what he called the "perfect storm" of illegal immigration that now constitutes an "invasion" at the southern border, and predicted that "90 percent of illegal immigration" from Central America would soon come to an end under his plan.

"There's a document that's classified that I'm gonna try to get unclassified that takes the dossier -- all the pages of it -- and it has verification to one side," Graham told anchor Maria Bartiromo. "There really is no verification, other than media reports that were generated by reporters that received the dossier."
I kind of like the recent activities of Lindsey G. v 2.0. Wouldn't trust him, as I still believe he is of the DS, but he is making some necessary wake turbulance.

[DAWN] Twenty-three teenage Rohingya girls were rescued after being brought from refugee camps to the capital Dhaka to be sent to Malaysia by air, Bangladesh police said on Sunday.

Dhaka police also jugged

four human traffickers including a Rohingya couple and recovered over 50 Bangladeshi passports from them on Saturday.

Police front man Mokhlesur Rahman said they raided a residence in the northern part of the city and found the teenagers hiding in a room behind a tailoring shop.

"They were promised jobs in Malaysia and brought from refugee camps in Cox's Bazar," he told AFP, referring to the Rohingya settlements in Bangladesh's southeastern coastal district.

The girls ‐ aged between 15 and 19 ‐ could have been potential victims of forced prostitution, the official said.

"We have filed cases against the four arrested persons and sent the girls back to their camps in Cox's Bazar," Rahman said.

Abul Khair, local police chief of Ukhiya, where Kutupalong, the largest refugee camp in the world, is situated, said he received the girls and would send them to their homes in the camps.

Israel reopens Gaza crossings as calm restored
[DAWN] Israel on Sunday reopened its crossings with the blockaded Gazoo Strip after closing them during a deadly escalation earlier this month, an official said, as a fragile truce held.

Both the Erez crossing for people and Kerem Shalom crossing for goods were open and operating, a spokeswoman for COGAT, the defence ministry unit that oversees the crossings, said in a statement.

Both had been closed on May 4, when Gazoo rulers Hamas, a regional Iranian catspaw, and its ally Islamic Jihad
...created after many members of the Egyptian Moslem Brotherhood decided the organization was becoming too moderate. Operations were conducted out of Egypt until 1981 when the group was exiled after the assassination of President Anwar Sadat. They worked out of Gaza until they were exiled to Lebanon in 1987, where they clove tightly to Hezbollah. In 1989 they moved to Damascus, where they remain a subsidiary of Hezbollah...
fired hundreds of rockets at Israel, with the army striking dozens of targets in Gazoo in response.

Four Israeli civilians and 25 Paleostinians, including at least nine bad boys, were killed in the two-day flare-up, which ended on Monday in a tentative truce.

Paleostinian officials said Israel had agreed to ease its crippling decade-long blockade of the impoverished enclave in exchange for calm.

Israel did not publicly confirm the deal, but on Friday lifted the ban it had imposed on Paleostinian fishing boats operating off Gazoo.

Israel says its blockade is necessary to isolate Gazoo's rulers Hamas, with whom it has fought three wars since 2008.

But critics say it amounts to collective punishment of Gazoo's two million residents.

ANC to lead South Africa govt with diminished majority
[DAWN] South Africa’s ruling ANC geared on Saturday for its sixth straight term in power in the post-apartheid era but its worst ever electoral showing could hamper efforts to revive the flagging economy and fight graft.

Provisional results, due to be confirmed later on Saturday, show that voters on Wednesday gave the ANC its smallest mandate since 1994, when Nelson Mandela led it to victory in the first multi-racial polls.

The party has been battling corruption scandals, sluggish economic growth and record unemployment ‐ all issues its new leader, President Cyril Ramaphosa has promised to tackle.

Businessman Ramaphosa, 66, took over last year when the ANC compelled then-president Jacob Zuma to resign after nine years dominated by graft allegations and economic decline.

Official results showed the African National Congress (ANC) holding a comfortable lead with 57.5 per cent ‐ a huge dip from almost 70 per cent in 2004 and 62 per cent in 2014. Its closest rival, the main opposition Democratic Alliance (DA), trailed at a distant 20.78 per cent.

UN: Ghadduwah town attack should unite all Libyans
[Libya Observer] The Deputy Spokesperson of the UN Secretary General, Farhan Haq, said ISIS attack on Ghadduwah town in southern Libya is yet another reason why a ceasefire must take effect in the country.

The source said their artillery shells did not hit the actual Ottoman Turkish observation post, as they know the location of this military site.

Opposition activists accused the Syrian Army of killing one civilian during this attack on the Idlib Governorate border.

In relevant news, the Ottoman Turkish Army sent a large convoy of reinforcements to southern Idlib on Sunday to prevent the Syrian military from further advancing into the bully boy pocket in northwestern Syria.

‘If US makes a move, we’ll hit them on the head’: IRGC commander
[ALMASDARNEWS] The US military presence in the Gulf used to be a serious threat but now it is an opportunity, according to a commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

"An aircraft carrier that has at least 40 to 50 planes on it and 6,000 forces gathered within it was a serious threat for us in the past but now [...] the threats have switched to opportunities," Amirali Hajizadeh, head of the IRGC’s aerospace unit, was quoted as saying by the Iranian Students’ News Agency (ISNA).

He also pledged that Iran will "hit Americans in the head if they make a move".

Separately, another IRGC commander, Hossein Salami, accused the US of waging psychological war in the Middle East, according to a parliamentary front man who summarised Salami’s address to the Iranian MPs.

"Commander Salami, with attention to the situation in the region, presented an analysis that the Americans have started a psychological war because the comings and goings of their military is a normal matter," Behrouz Nemati pointed out.

Separately, Al Jazeera quoted Salami as saying that it’s unlikely that the US will use its aircraft carriers against Iran.

He argued that Iran’s defence capabilities are "adequate and sufficient", while the US aircraft carriers are quite vulnerable, which is why "Washington will not take a risk [using the carriers against the Islamic Theocratic Republic]".

Salami’s remarks followed a statement by Vice Admiral Jim Malloy, commander of the US Navy’s Bahrain-based Fifth Fleet, that he does not rule out sending the Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier to the strategic Strait of Hormuz in light of Washington’s tensions with Tehran.

"If I need to bring it inside the strait, I will do so. I’m not restricted in any way, I’m not challenged in any way, to operate her anywhere in the Middle East," Malloy told Rooters.

The Saudi-owned newspaper Asharq al-Awsat reported on Sunday that Emadi was slated to enter Gazoo within the coming two days to distribute a $30 million Qatari grant to the Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth", terror group. Other than referencing Gazoo rulers Hamas, the report did not specify how and to whom the funds would be distributed.

Special Coordinator to the Middle East grinding of the peace processor Nickolay Mladenov is planning to travel to Gazoo on Monday to visit UN-supervised, Qatari-funded cash-for-work programs and a solar energy-related project at a hospital, a UN source said in a phone call on Sunday.

A number of Paleostinians in Gazoo recently started temporary jobs as a part of the cash-for-work programs.

Last week, a senior Gazoo-based official said that Israel consented to the transfer of Qatari funds into the Strip within a week geared toward grants for impoverished families, salaries of Hamas-appointed civil servants and the UN-supervised projects.

Gazan carrying knife arrested after crossing border into Israel
[IsraelTimes] The Israel Defense Forces on Sunday tossed in the slammer

a man who crossed the border fence from the Gazoo Strip and entered Israeli territory, the army said.

The Paleostinian man was apprehended shortly after breaching the fence and was found to be carrying a knife, according to the military.

There were no injuries reported in the incident and the suspect was detained for investigation by security forces, the IDF said.

Israel reopened its main crossings with the Gazoo Strip on Sunday as part of a reported ceasefire agreement, after a weekend that saw low-level festivities along the border but no major outbreaks of violence.

Erez, in northern Gazoo, is the main terminal for civilian traffic while Kerem Shalom in the south of the Strip mainly serves commercial goods. The crossings were closed when violence broke out last week and remained shuttered for the Memorial Day and Independence Day holidays on May 7-9.

2 East Jerusalem men charged with planning Tel Aviv beach shooting for Hamas
[IsraelTimes] Indictments say pair met in prison, planned to carry out attack; upon their release, they contacted operative, who suggested they kill Jerusalem mayor, police chief or MK.

Two East Jerusalem residents were charged on Sunday for allegedly planning to carry out a shooting attack in Tel Aviv on behalf of the Hamas, a regional Iranian catspaw, terror group.

According to the indictments filed at the Jerusalem District Court, 23-year-old Adam Muslemani and 27-year-old Mahmoud Abed al-Latif befriended each other in 2017, while serving time at Nafha Prison in the Negev for security-related offenses.

The two planned to carry out a shooting in Hamas’s name at a beach in Tel Aviv following their release from prison, the charge sheets said. The pair ruled out an attack in Jerusalem, citing the high number of attacks in the capital and its heavy police presence, which made the coastal metropolis a better target.

Following their release in February 2019, Muslemani and Abdel Latif traveled to Istanbul to meet with a Hamas operative, who allegedly suggested they instead target a public figure. The indictment said the Hamas member named former Jerusalem mayor Nir Barkat, ex-police chief Roni Alsheich, and Temple Mount activist and then-Likud MK Yehudah Glick as possible victims.

In 2014, Glick was shot four times by a Paleostinian terrorist in a failed liquidation attempt in Jerusalem.

The Hamas member later gave them funds to carry out the attack and a pair of pants stitched with hidden messages from Hamas, according to the indictment.

A third East Jerusalem man, 32-year-old Issa Bin Nazem Natsheh, was also indicted for contacting the Hamas operative in Istanbul and for using money he received from him.

Prosecutors requested that all three remain in jug ‐ where they have been since their arrests in March ‐ until the end of legal proceedings against them.

US transfers funds meant for Pakistan for building Mexico border wall
[DAWN] The United States is transferring $1.5 billion meant for Afghanistan and Pakistain to a fund to build the Mexican border wall, says acting Defence Secretary Patrick Shanahan.

The funds have been reprogrammed despite an increase in attacks inside Afghanistan and a complaint by the US chief negotiator that peace talks with the Taliban
...mindless ferocity in a turban...
are not moving at a sufficient pace.

"We reprogrammed $1.5 billion towards the construction of more than 120 miles of border barrier without impacting readiness," Mr Shanahan said in a statement released late Friday.

More than $600 million of these funds come from an Afghan cops account while an unspecified amount was taken from the funds previously meant for Pakistain.
It’s not like money given to Pakistan accomplishes any of the objectives for which it was disbursed.
"The funds were culled from a variety of sources, to include unexecuted prior year funds, the suspension of reimbursements to Pakistain, and costs reductions in a series of contracts," Secretary Shanahan said.

Germany vows to back Israel at UN, in apparent break from past record
[IsraelTimes] Israel’s envoy to Berlin welcomes statement as ’clear signal’ of country’s determination to enhance Jerusalem’s standing in international fora.

Germany on Saturday said it was deeply troubled by anti-Israel bias at the United Nations
...boodling on the grand scale...
and vowed to oppose "any unfair treatment" of the Jewish state in international fora.

The statement, issued on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of Israel’s accession to the UN, was welcomed by Jerusalem’s envoy to Germany, Jeremy Issacharoff, who said he hoped it signals a change in Berlin’s voting pattern vis-a-vis the Middle East. Germany’s voting record on Middle East issues has been criticized by Israel and its supporters, as the country often joins other European nations in voting against Israel’s interest at the UN.

The country, which currently is a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council, pledged "to oppose any unfair treatment of Israel in the UN and to support its legitimate interests. We will continue to do our utmost to support these causes," according to the statement, which was based on a quote by Foreign Minister Heiko Maas.

The German statement was criticized by Yair Netanyahu, the son of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

"It will be nice if you stop interfering in our internal business and stop funding hundreds of radical left wing NGOs in Israel that seek its destruction," he wrote on Twitter, in response the German Foreign Ministry’s tweet on the statement. "Use the hundreds of millions of [Euros] you use for this to fund hospitals, schools and churches in Germany!"

While Chancellor Angela Merkel
...chancellor of Germany and the impetus behind Germany's remarkably ill-starred immigration program. Merkel used to be referred to by Germans as Mom. Now they make faces at her for inundating the country with Moslems ..
over a decade ago declared Israel’s security to be part of Germany’s "raison d’etre," Berlin routinely votes against Israel at the UN, including on the questions of Jerusalem, the Golan Heights or West Bank settlements.

On March 14, the Bundestag voted on a declaratory resolution that called on the German government and the European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
to change its voting pattern in Israel’s favor.

Since it was proposed by an opposition party, the coalition parties voted against the resolution, which failed to pass. A whopping 408 MPs ‐ including 224 from Merkel’s center-right Christian-Democratic Union ‐ voted against the resolution, while 155 politicians, including nearly all members of the far-right Alternative for Germany party, voted in favor.

New report claims ISIS leader is in Afghanistan
[MOBILE.ALMASDARNEWS] ISIS leader His Supreme Immensity, Caliph of the Faithful and Galactic Overlord, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi
...the head of ISIS, or what remains of it, and a veteran of the Abu Graib jailhouse. Looks like a new messiah to bajillions of Moslems, like just another dead-eyed mass murder to the rest of us. So far he has been killed at least four times, though not yet by a stake through the heart...
is allegedly hiding in a distant region of Afghanistan, The Sun claims, citing Zaid Hamid, who is a co-founder of the BrassTacks threat analysis think-tank.

The speculation about the famous terrorist’s whereabouts was made after a propaganda video featuring the ISIS leader was published.

"Note the style of the bedding & the pillows....Is he already in Afghanistan?," Zaid Hamid pointed out, further suggesting that al-Baghdadi is in the Khorasan Province.

The speculation come after on 29 April, numerous media outlets reported that Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi made his first appearance, after five years of absence, in a video in which he acknowledges the defeat of the terrorist group’s fighters in the battle for Baghouz last month.

The video was reportedly filmed earlier in April, however, the authenticity of the video itself is yet to be verified. Earlier, US Army front man Col. James Rawlinson told Sputnik that the US-led coalition is working on corroborating the authenticity of the video.

In recent years, Baghdadi’s death has been reported multiple times, however, the terrorist leader has re-emerged time and time again.

In June 2017, the Russian Defence Ministry said that Baghdadi might have been killed as a result of a strike by the Russian Aerospace Forces on 28 May that year in the southern suburbs of Raqqa. However,
some men learn by reading. A few learn by observation. The rest have to pee on the electric fence for themselves...
an alleged audio recording of Baghdadi emerged later in 2017, provoking fresh doubt over whether the terrorist leader was dead or alive.

FBI Discovers Homegrown Islamic Terror Compound In Alabama
[DAILYCALLER] The FBI has uncovered a homegrown, jihadist compound in the small Alabama town of Macon County.

The FBI’s search warrant described the property as a "makeshift military-style obstacle course" in a story first reported by Sinclair Broadcast Group. The land where the group gathered reportedly looked like an "abandoned dump," and was led by Siraj Wahhaj,
...also known as Siraj Ibn Wahhaj and Sirraj Ibn Wahhaj. Siraj [Jr.] is the son of Siraj Wahhaj [Sr.], a Brooklyn imam whose mother welcomed him into the world as Jeffrey Kearse. Siraj Sr. was an unindicted co-conspirator in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing and a character witness in the trial of convicted terror plotter Sheik Omar Abdel Rahman (“the blind sheikh”), and is connected to the several branches of the Moslem Brotherhood in America. He currently mentors pussy hat leader Linda Sarsour....
who allegedly trained children to commit school shootings in a similar terrorist breeding ground in New Mexico last year.

Wahhaj and four other alleged Islamic Lions of Islam were indicted on terrorism, kidnapping, and firearm violation charges earlier this year.

In an interview with Sinclair Broadcast Group, former FBI agent Tim Fuhrman warned of the increasing threats of domestic terror that "exists in every region of the United States and affects all walks of life."

"Just because you’re in a small town or a small state does not mean you might not potentially have individuals engaged in the types of activities that would call into question threats to national security," Fuhrman said.

The FBI is currently involved in 850 domestic terrorism investigations, Assistant Director for Counterterrorism Michael McGarrity said earlier this week while speaking to the House Homeland Security Committee, according to CNN.

"The FBI assesses domestic turbans collectively pose a persistent and evolving threat of violence and economic harm to the United States," McGarrity said.

The alert comes after the US designated a group of Iraqi Shia militias known as al-Nujaba Movement, a group notorious for fighting for and propping up the Assad regime in Syria, as a terrorist group in March 5, 2019.

The group has close ties with Iran, a highly influential actor on many of the Shia militia, providing them with funds and weapons. Some of these groups, like al-Badr, have long-running ties to Iran, dating as far back as the fight against Saddam Hussein's regime alongside Iran in the 8-year Iraq-Iran war.

The US deployed the Abraham Lincoln carrier strike group to deal with credible threats coming from Iran. It is being joined by a May 10 US deployment of the USS Arlington, which transports marines, amphibious vehicles, conventional landing craft, and rotary aircraft, as well as a Patriot missile defense system and an Air Force bomber task force.

Iran was involved in tit-for-tat skirmishes with the US led coalition force in Iraq from 2005 to 2010, using the Shia militia to attack the coalition. The US claims that hundreds of its members have been killed by Iran in Iraq.

Iraqi leaders worry that their country may become entangled in US-Iran rivalry as tensions continue to escalate.

The Iraq government has repeatedly said that it wants to build relations with everyone and avoid a regional tug-of-war. Both Nouri al-Maliki, former Iraqi PM, and influential Shiite leader Ammar al-Hakim have called for Iraq to be distanced from the conflict.

Washington regularly advices its citizens to be cautious traveling to volatile region but the recent statement in advising its citizens not to travel to Iraq could be interpreted as the further escalation.

While showing solidarity with their Shiite brethren in Iran, the Shiite militias in Iraq have generally denied intentions to target US forces, saying they would follow the policy of the Iraqi state. This stance was breached just a few days ago when a leader of the Popular Mobilization Units (PMU) reacted threateningly to US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo's surprise visit to Baghdad.

Al-Nujaba have themselves denied ever saying that they would target the US forces, in a statement released on May 11th.

"Whatever statements some news agencies and satellite channels have posted are not coming from the al-Nujaba movement," said al-Nujaba, in the hope that new outlets would not publish "fabricated" news.

Militants kill 6 civilians in new attack on Christian city in northwest Hama
[ALMASDARNEWS] At least a half dozen non-combatants were killed in the northwestern countryside of the Hama Governorate on Sunday, a source in the area told al-Masdar News.

According to the source, the non-combatants were killed when the murderous Moslems fired several artillery shells and missiles towards the Christian city of Sqaylabiyeh near the Idlib Governorate border.

Among the six civilians killed on Sunday were five children and one woman. Several others were badly maimed as a result of this indiscriminate attack on Suqaylabiyeh.

Typically, when the murderous Moslems assault either Sqaylabiyeh or Mhardeh, two Christian cities in Hama, the Russian Air Force responds by launching Arclight airstrikes against the murderous Moslems responsible for the attack.

Sqaylabiyeh is home to one of Syria’s largest National Defense Forces (NDF) factions and the famous "ISIS Hunters" unit. The city also has one of the largest Christian (predominately Antiochian Orthodox) populations inside Syria.

Ghazni: Pakistani nationals among 11 militants killed in Afghan SF raid, Pak Talib emir toes up in ongoing battles
[KhaamaPress] At least 11 bully boyz including 4 Pak nationals were killed in an operation of the Afghan Special Forces in South-eastern Ghazni province, the Ministry of Defense (MoD) said Sunday.

"11 Taliban
...mindless ferocity in a turban...
gunnies and 4 Pak nationals were killed in Ghazni province in an operation by Afghan commandos. The operation was conducted in Gosfandi village in Ghazni city," MoD said in a statement.

The statement further added "Afghan Commandos have seized documents, weapons and vehicles."

The anti-government armed bully boyz including Taliban have not commented regarding the raid so far.

Ghazni is among the relatively volatile provinces in South-eastern parts of Afghanistan. Talibs are active in some of the restive districts of the province where they often attempt to carry out terrorist related activities against the government and security institutions.

Pakistani Taliban Commander Killed In Ghazni As War Intensifies

[ToloNews] Local officials in central Ghazni province said that fresh waves of violence have been gripping various regions of the province over the past 24 hours following intense battles between the Afghan forces and the Taliban outfits in the area.

They said that the Afghan Special Forces have dealt a major blow the Taliban fighters in Asfandah village in the suburb of the city where a key Taliban commander originally from Pakistan was also eliminated during the battles with the Afghan forces.

Afghan forces said that they had discovered the Pakistani identity card from the pocket of the Taliban commander.

“We did not transfer other dead bodies, we only transferred the dead body of this Pakistani officer and you can take footage of him that the Pakistani officers also take part in these operations,” said Mohammad Naser Alizai, Deputy Commander of Afghan Commando Forces.

Violence has dramatically increased in Ghazni province over the past two months with the foreign militants fighting shoulder to shoulder with the Taliban in the key province.

According to local officials, up to 40 security force members and 30 civilians so far have been killed during the violence.

“Overall, 500 operations, including clearance operations and aerial operations by the coalition and Afghan forces were carried out since the month of Hamal (March),” said Arif Noori, spokesman to Ghazni governor.

Despite these reports, roads in many areas of the province remained close to traffic, including a short closure of Kabul-Kandahar Highway in recent days, where the Taliban installed checkpoints and searched passengers.

Back in August 2018, the Taliban insurgents backed by the foreign militants launched a coordinated attack on Ghazni city from four directions and seized some parts of the city for several days.

Police lodge FIR as medical report of 15-year-old confirms rape
[DAWN] KARACHI: Police have started the paperwork but haven't done much else against four suspects on the complaint of the mother of a rape victim after a medical report confirmed that her teenaged daughter was subjected to a sexual assault, it emerged on Saturday.

Bloody Karachi
...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It is among the largest cities in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous...
police chief Dr Amir Ahmed Sheikh ordered an inquiry into a video statement of the mother of the rape victim that went viral on social media two days ago.

The Gulistan-e-Jauhar police booked a 60-year-old woman on the complaint of the girl’s mother as she accused her of being "responsible for the rape of her daughter".

On Friday night at around 11.30pm, the police brought the 15-year-old girl for a medical examination at the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre.

Medico-Legal Officer Dr Zakia Khurshid carried out her medical examination, which confirmed that she was subjected to a sexual assault, said Police Surgeon Qarar Ahmed Abbasi.

SSP East (Investigation) Dr Mohammad Farooq told Dawn that the woman claimed that her daughter was gang-raped around one week ago.

The police detained five persons for questioning, he said, adding that since the complainant claimed that two of the suspects were unknown, the police would hold an identification parade before the family.

According to the FIR, the complainant woman said that she was living in Gulistan-e-Jauhar along with her five children and her husband worked in Islamabad.

She stated that since the last few days, her daughter remained silent and was not telling any reason about it. Two days ago, the woman said another daughter told her that in her absence, four persons and one woman came to their flat. The woman had acid with her.

The complainant said that the four suspects subjected her daughter to gang-rape and threatened her to stay silent otherwise they would throw acid on her.

The police registered the FIR against the four men and the woman under Sections 376 (punishment for rape) and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistain Penal Code (PPC).

DIG East Amir Farooqi said that the complainant had earlier lodged a case against one of the suspects under section 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) of the PPC on March 19.

The police had registered the case as she claimed at that time that she had relations with the suspect and he used to visit her apartment. Subsequently, the police presented charge sheet against the suspect in court.

Later, the woman had submitted an affidavit stating that on account of "some misunderstanding" she got the FIR registered against the suspect and asked the court to quash the case.

In the new FIR, the woman nominated a 60-year-old woman, who also lived in the same building.

The DIG said when the police contacted the elderly woman, she brought 25 other women of the same building to the cop shoppe stating that they were against the complainant and asked her to leave the place.

One of the suspects was an office-bearer of the apartment’s union.

SSP Farooq said that the union had asked the complainant woman to leave the flat on May 7. A few days ago, a huge fire broke out at a supermarket and some news hounds covering the fire incident recorded the woman’s statement which went viral on social media, he said.

Sri Lanka town under curfew after anti-Muslim attacks, Saudi-trained “scholar” arrested
[DAWN] Sri Lankan troops in a northern town fired shots into the air and police imposed a curfew on Sunday after mobs attacked a mosque, in renewed religious tensions in the wake of the Easter terror attacks.

Police front man Ruwan Gunasekera said that the mobs in Chilaw, 80 kilometres north of the capital Colombo, also attacked Moslem-owned businesses.

The violence erupted like lava from a volcano in Chilaw, a Catholic-majority town, after a resident misunderstood a Facebook post as a threat against Christians.

Gunasekera said the Moslem man who posted the comment has been jugged
Keep yer hands where we can see 'em, if yez please!
. He said the curfew would be lifted at dawn on Monday.
Deutsche Welle adds:
Reuters on Sunday reported the arrest of a Saudi-educated scholar, Mohamed Aliyar, in Hashim's hometown of Kattankudy on Sri Lanka's eastern coast.

Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena said those arrested accounted for "99%" of suspects.
The Jerusalem Post adds:
Sri Lankan authorities have tossed in the calaboose
Youse'll never take me alive coppers!... [BANG!]... Ow!... I quit!
a Saudi-educated scholar for what they claim are links with Zahran Hashim, the suspected ringleader of the Easter Sunday bombings, throwing a spotlight on the rising influence of Salafi-Wahhabi Islam on the island's Moslems.

Mohammed Aliyar, 60, is the founder of the Centre for Islamic Guidance, which boasts a mosque, a religious school and a library in Zahran's hometown of Kattankudy, a Moslem-dominated city on Sri Lanka's eastern shores.

"Information has been revealed that the suspect arrested had a close relationship with ... Zahran and had been operating financial transactions," said a police statement late on Friday.

The statement said Aliyar was "involved" with training in the southern town of Hambantota for the group of jacket wallahs who attacked hotels and churches on Easter, killing over 250 people.

Two Moslem community sources in Kattankudy told Rooters his hardline views were partly shaped by ultra-conservative Salafi-Wahhabi texts that he picked up at the Centre for Islamic Guidance's library around 2-3 years ago. The sources are not affiliated with the center.

"I used to always run into him at the center, reading Saudi journals and literature," said one of the sources.

Sri Lanka's Catholics hold first Sunday mass after Easter attacks
[DAWN] Thousands of Catholics attended mass in Sri Lanka's capital Colombo on Sunday amid tight security to prevent a repeat of Easter kabooms that killed 258 people.

Soldiers armed with automatic assault rifles guarded St. Theresa's church at Colombo's Thimbirigasyaya residential quarter, while members of the congregation were searched for explosives.

The sprawling church car park was empty as the authorities did not allow any vehicles into the compound as part of high-level security.

The government has blamed local jihadists for the deadly April 21 bombings, which targeted three Christian churches and three luxury hotels.

Regular services were cancelled across all churches soon after the deadly suicide kabooms, but the archbishop of Colombo Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith announced on Thursday that mass would be held in his diocese from Sunday.

Russian Air Force bombs jihadist forces near Turkish military post
[MOBILE.ALMASDARNEWS] The Russian Air Force unleashed a new round of Arclight airstrikes over the northwestern countryside of the Hama Governorate this evening, targeting the positions of the jihadist and Ottoman Turkish-backed rebels.

According to a military source in Hama city, the Russian Air Force heavily bombarded the holy warriors in the Sheir Magher area, causing a number of kabooms that could be heard across the northwestern countryside of the governorate.

The source said the Russian airstrikes hit the krazed killer positions near the Ottoman Turkish Army’s observation post along the Hama-Idlib axis.

He would add that while the Russian airstrikes were conducted near the Ottoman Turkish observation post, they did not actually hit their military positions.

Tonight’s airstrikes come just hours after the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) almost hit the same Ottoman Turkish military post in the northwestern countryside of the Hama Governorate.

#1  Maybe I come from a different era, but it sure seems to me that a awful lot of 'bombing' and 'airstrikes' cause a lot less damage than they used to. Perhaps that's journalistic license.

#2  If one reads this carefully, it appears that absolutely nothing was hit even after two strikes from land and air.

It was like firing your irons on the ground, to make the mexicans dance and flee.

In the real world it means 'we have these bombs, but for some reason we dare not hit you'.

#3  I don't understand. Are the Russians not so good at precision bombing or were they missing on purpose? Don't get me wrong any kind of explosive ordinance going off in Arab countries is a good thing. We need a lot more of it.

Gunmen kill six during Catholic mass in Burkina Faso
[IsraelTimes] Dozens of attackers said to open fire on worshipers, set fire to shops and cafe, and loot medical center, before fleeing.

Gunmen killed a priest and five churchgoers during mass Sunday in an attack on a Catholic church in Dablo, northern Burkina Faso
...The country in west Africa that they put where Upper Volta used to be. Its capital is Oogadooga, or something like that. Its president is currently Blaise Compaoré, who took office in 1987 and will leave office feet first, one way or the other...
, security sources and a local official said.

"Towards 9 a.m., during mass, armed individuals burst into the Catholic church," the mayor of Dablo, Ousmane Zongo, told AFP. "They started firing as the congregation tried to flee."

The attackers ‐ between 20 and 30 according to a security source ‐ managed to trap some of the worshipers, Zongo added. "They killed five of them. The priest, who was celebrating mass, was also killed, bringing the number of dead to six."

The button men then set fire to the church, several shops, and a small cafe, before heading to the local health center, which they looted, burning the chief nurse’s vehicle.

"There is an atmosphere of panic in the town," said Zongo.

"People are holed up in their homes. Nothing is going on. The shops and stores are closed. It’s practically a ghost town," he added.

Security reinforcements were sent from Barsalogho, about 45 kilometers (30 miles) south of Dablo, and were combing the area, a security source told AFP.

The attack came two days after French special forces freed four foreign hostages in the north of the country in an overnight raid that cost the lives of two soldiers. The operation was ordered to free kidnapped Frenchies Patrick Picque and Laurent Lassimouillas who disappeared while on holiday in the remote Pendjari National Park in Benin on May 1. The team also found two other female captives, an American woman and a South Korean.

Sunday’s church strike came two weeks after a similar attack against a Protestant church in Silgadji, also in the north, when button men on cycle of violences killed a pastor and several worshipers.

Burkina Faso has suffered from increasingly frequent and deadly attacks attributed to a number of jihadist groups, including the Ansarul Islam group, the Group to Support Islam and Moslems (GSIM) and Islamic State

Nearly 400 people have been killed since 2015 ‐ mainly in hit-and-run raids ‐ according to an AFP tally. Jihadist groups target both Moslem and Christian holy mans, mainly in the north.

Former colonial ruler La Belle France has deployed some 4,500 troops in Mali, Burkina Faso, Niger and Chad in a mission code-named Barkhane to help local forces try to flush out jihadist groups.
Deutsche Welle adds:

shortly after meeting with Burkina Faso's President Roch Marc Christian Kabore in the capital, Ouagadougou.

Germany will give an additional €20 million to Burkina Faso and over €35 million to Niger ($22.4 million and $39 million, respectively) to support development projects as well as the outfitting and training of coppers in each country, she said.

"We talked about the deteriorating security situation and we want to be on the side of Burkina Faso, especially in terms of cooperation on security," Merkel told news hounds after a meeting with Kabore.

"This is necessary because in the east and north of the country there is a situation where children cannot go to school, where populations seem to live in insecurity. We need to end these problems as quickly as possible."

Turkey calls on Syria to halt Hama operation as they prepare to invade SDF-held areas
[ALMASDARNEWS] Ottoman Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar has said Syrian government forces need to halt attacks in northwestern Syria, Anadolu Agency reported on Friday.

The Syrian Army, backed by the Russian Air Force, launched ground operations this week at the southern flank of the turban-held demilitarized zone, which consists of Hama and parts of adjacent provinces.

Akar said the Syrian forces should return to territories agreed in an international deal in Kazakhstan to reduce hostilities and casualties.

"Humanitarian problems grow each day and it is increasingly showing a tendency to turn into a catastrophe," he said.

Akar also said the attacks pose a threat to the security of The Sick Man of Europe Turkey

said on Thursday that his nation’s armed forces were preparing to launch an operation to eliminate the "terrorist groups" in northern Syria.

The "terrorist groups" referred to by Erdogan are the Kurdish-led People’s Protection Units (YPG) and Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). Turkey claims they are both offshoots of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK), who was involved in a long war against the Ottoman Turkish Army in the 80s and 90s.

Man arrested at Charlotte airport for lying about contacts with terrorist organizations
From May 2nd, but we missed the story then.
[CNN] A man was tossed in the calaboose
Drop the rod and step away witcher hands up!
after arriving in North Carolina Tuesday for lying about his contacts with terrorist organizations.

Waqar ul-Hassan, 35, was returning from Pakistain and had gotten off a flight at the Charlotte Douglas International Airport Tuesday night when he was arrested on two counts of making false statements in 2015 interviews involving terrorism, according to an FBI criminal complaint.

According to the complaint, the FBI began an investigation into Hassan in 2014 because the organization had information that he was communicating with people involved in terrorist organizations.

Hassan was interviewed by FBI agents and told them in some of those interviews that he did not support any terrorist or bully boy group and did not know anyone who was a member of one, according to the complaint.

In later interviews, he confessed to having lied, the complaint says, and admitted to "extensive contacts" with a recruiter about jihad.

Hassan also admitted to traveling and staying with forces of Evil for two or three days in 2014 and to giving up to $500 to and collecting food and money for a terror organization. The FBI complaint identified the group as Jaish-e-Mohammad
...literally Army of Mohammad, a Pak-based Deobandi terror group founded by Maulana Masood Azhar in 2000, after he split with the Harkat-ul-Mujaheddin. In 2002 the government of Pervez Musharraf banned the group, which changed its name to Khaddam ul-Islam and continued doing what it had been doing before without missing a beat...
(JeM), an organization the US considers a terrorist group.
Maulana Masood Azhar has been known to enjoy tea partying with the Taliban and Al Qaeda, as well as Sipah-e-Sahaba Pakistan (SSP)and Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LeJ).
After initial denials, Hassan signed a statement acknowledging he also attempted to send money to ISIS "[b]ecause [he] was angry about what was happening to Moslems around the world," but said he ultimately did not because he didn't have a way to get it there, the federal complaint says.

It is unclear why he was not detained in 2015.
Who was president in 2015? Think a bit — it will come to you, dear CNN journalist. It’s good to see the FBI is clearing old cases in the midst of the current brouhaha.
Hassan came to the United States from Pakistain in 1999 and is a naturalized US citizen who maintained his Pak citizenship. In 2016, he left for Pakistain and did not return to the US until Tuesday.

Saudi forces kill 8 suspected terrorists in shootout in Qatif
[DAWN] Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
's security forces killed eight alleged snuffies in a shootout in the predominantly Shia region of Qatif, a government statement issued late Saturday said.

The interior ministry said security forces launched a raid against a suspected Death Eater hideout on the island of Tarot off the coast of the kingdom's eastern province, a restive region on the Persian Gulf where most of the country's oil reserves are located.

The statement described the group as a "terrorist cell" and accused them of planning to attack vital installations and security targets.

The interior ministry said security forces only opened fire after they were shot at. It did not identify the hard boyz and said an investigation was ongoing.

Videos posted on social media by residents of Tarot showed black smoke rising from residential buildings and the sound of heavy gunfire on Saturday.

Saudi security forces frequently target and clash with Shia button men in the region of Qatif, which saw large protests by the minority community in 2011 demanding greater rights and equal treatment from the kingdom's Sunni rulers.

The kingdom has since targeted many of those protest leaders, including its most iconic figure, Sheikh Nimr al Nimr, who was accused of national security crimes and executed in early 2016.

The Shia holy man's execution sparked protests by Shias in Iraq, Pakistain and Iran, and led to the ransacking of the Saudi Embassy in Tehran, which has remained shuttered ever since.

Tensions have likely spiked in recent weeks after Saudi Arabia beheaded 37 men, most of them Shiites, in a mass execution on April 23.

The UN's human rights
One man's rights are another man's existential threat.
chief called the mass execution, which included three sentenced as minors, "shocking" and "abhorrent."

The rights group Amnesia Amnesty International said 11 of the men were convicted of terrorism-related crimes after a "grossly unfair trial."

At least 14 others executed were convicted of violent offences related to their participation in anti-government demonstrations in Shia-populated areas of Saudi Arabia between 2011 and 2012.

5 people killed in Gwadar PC hotel attack; army concludes clearance operation
[DAWN] At least five people bit the dust in a terror attack targeting the Pearl Continental in Gwadar yesterday, the army's media wing said in a statement on Sunday, as it announced the conclusion of its clearance operation of the hotel.

Four hotel employees ─ three staffers and a security guard ─ were killed and a navy soldier was martyred, while six people ─ including two army captains, two navy soldiers, and two hotel employees ─ were maimed as button men stormed the luxury hotel.

The attack was claimed by the banned Balochistan
...the Pak province bordering Kandahar and Uruzgun provinces in Afghanistan and Sistan Baluchistan in Iran. Its native Baloch propulation is being displaced by Pashtuns and Punjabis and they aren't happy about it...
Liberation Army, and a clearance operation at the hotel continued until late at night.

The army on Sunday afternoon announced that security forces had completed the operation at the hotel, killed three forces of Evil and retained their bodies for identification.

The ISPR, in a blurb, also provided a blow-by-blow of the attack and the ensuing operation, saying that three forces of Evil had entered the hotel with the intent of targeting hotel guests or taking them hostage.

The assault began between 4:30-5pm. The attackers wore uniforms resembling those worn by members of the security forces and were equipped with modern weapons, official sources told Dawn.

The ISPR said that the security guard at the entrance, Zahoor, attempted to deny the forces of Evil entry into the main hall, but was killed.

"The forces of Evil went to the staircase leading to the upper floors," the ISPR said. "Enroute to the stairs, the forces of Evil kept firing indiscriminately, resulting in the martyrdom of three more hotel employees, Farhad, Bilawal and Awais, while two got injured," the ISPR said.

The army's media wing said that the Quick Response Forces of the army, navy and police immediately reached the hotel, secured the guests and staff present there, and restricted the forces of Evil to a fourth floor corridor.

"After ensuring safe evacuation of guests and staff, a clearance operation was launched to take on the terrorists," the statement said. During this time, "the forces of Evil had made CCTV cameras dysfunctional and planted improvised bombs on all entry points leading to fourth floor," the statement said.

"Security forces made special entry points to get onto the fourth floor, shot down all forces of Evil and cleared planted IEDs," the ISPR said.

Pakistain Navy soldier Abbas Khan was martyred in an exchange of fire, while four other army and navy captains were maimed.

In the aftermath of Gwadar attack, the Balochistan government tightened security across the province. Chief Minister Jam Kamal chaired a high-level meeting today to review security arrangements in Gwadar and other parts of the province.

The army's media wing thanked the media for its responsible reportage during the operation, which "denied the forces of Evil of possible live updates" and "facilitated the security forces in smooth execution of the operation".
