Tom Ray’s experience with sepsis and the British National Health Service (NHS)
[BBC] Tom Ray was fit and healthy and living in Rutland in the East Midlands before he contracted sepsis at the age of 38 in 1999.

He had had a successful career in corporate banking and was in the process of setting up a business with his pregnant wife, Nic, when he fell ill.

His sepsis - thought to be caused by a cut to his gum during a trip to the dentist, combined with a chest infection - came on rapidly and led to vomiting and a high temperature.

But it took five hours at the hospital he was admitted to before the condition was diagnosed.

He spent months in a coma, during which time his wife Nic gave birth to their second child, Freddy.
Story gets a bit worse from here on.

There is a movie script idea in there. What if instead of going to Argentina or the far side of the Moon, all the ex-Nazis went into the UK's National Health Service? The running joke could be "National Socialism, National Health Service - what's the difference?" Have your people call my people!

Trump to Halt Climate Change by Creating Government Program to Accelerate It
[IMAO - satire] In a move that surprised backers and detractors alike, President Trump announced that he would embrace and support the goals of the Green New Deal program to completely halt all climate change. Even more surprising is the method by which he plans to do it: creating a vast government bureaucracy designed to promote and accelerate the rate of climate change.

Virginia Uber driver was Somali war criminal
[BBC] A US jury has found that a former Uber driver living in Virginia committed acts of torture during Somalia's civil war in the late 1980s.

Somali citizen Farhan Tani Warfaa testified last week in the Washington DC suburbs that ex-Somali colonel Yusuf Abdi Ali shot and tortured him.

Ali was a commander in the national army and supporter of dictator Mohamed Siad Barre, say court documents.

Until this month, Ali drove for Uber, with a high 4.89 rating.

On Tuesday, a jury at a federal court in Alexandria, Virginia, found that Ali was responsible for the torture of Mr Warfaa more than three decades ago, awarding Mr Warfaa $500,000 (£395,000) in damages.

Springfield's .45 1911 EMP (Emhanced Micro Pistol)
[Guns America Digest] The Springfield 1911 EMP (Enhanced Micro Pistol) isn’t your normal compact 1911. Springfield has completely redesigned, and patented, the 1911 EMP with a shorter action and overall smaller dimensions than a standard 1911. The result is a reliable, ergonomic design that’s easy to conceal and a pleasure to shoot. The 1911 EMP is available in both 9 mm and .40 S&W and your choice of bi-tone stainless and black or just black.

Each EMP 1911 comes in a Springfield polymer hard case with foam packing. It is sturdy enough to fly and travel with. The case contains three nine round (.40 S&W holds eight rounds) 9mm magazines, an owner’s manual, replacement fiber optic inserts and a standard cable lock.

Build your own best friend! Students design $3,000 kit robo-dog that can jump, flip and dance and can be reproduced at home
[MAIL] A robotic dog that can dance, do flips and jump has been created by a team of students - and they are encouraging people to build their own.

The robo-dog senses when it is out of position and uses 'virtual springs' to pop upright with precision.

It has been created with the goal of being reproduced by anyone and the team has published their designs and blueprints online to encourage people to make their own robots.

F-22 stealth fighters intercept Russian strategic bombers probing US air defenses near Alaskan airspace
[MAIL] U.S. defense forces have intercepted and escorted Russian war planes spotted near Alaskan air space.

The North American Aerospace Defense Command says two of its F-22s intercepted two Tupolev Tu-95 strategic bombers inside the Alaska Air Defense Identification Zone on Monday.

A short time later, two additional Tu-95s and two Sukhoi Su-35 fighters were identified and intercepted by two other NORAD F-22s.

A U.S. E-3 Sentry maintained overall surveillance on the operation. The Russian aircraft remained in international airspace.

Medieval beer is brewed for the first time in 220 years after Belgian monks manage to translate recipe with the help of volunteers
[MAIL] Belgian monks have revived a medieval beer recipe last brewed in the 18th century.

The Order of Canons Regular of Premontre at Grimbergen Abbey in Belgium have begun brewing the ale again after rediscovering the original 12th-century recipe and methods in their archives.

But be careful if you get to try the new ancient brew - at 10.8 per cent alcohol content it's likely to blow your cassock off.

Lawyer, 43, is first known British victim of 'Mexico suicide tourism' after buying euthanasia drug while on holiday and smuggling it back into UK to kill himself at home after being diagnosed with a tumour
[MAIL] A lawyer and former Ukip candidate has become Britain's first known victim of Mexican suicide tourism after buying a euthanasia drug in the country.

Kalvin Paul Chapman took a fatal overdose of a substance that is used to kill death row prisoners at his flat in Manchester.

The 43-year-old bought it while on holiday after having been diagnosed with a cancerous tumour behind his eye and smuggled the drug, which is illegal in the UK, back to Britain.

On the night of his death, he emailed Greater Manchester Police to request they collect his body.

'It will probably kill me in 20 minutes,' he wrote. 'Can you please send someone to pick up my body. My flat door is unlocked. Much appreciated.'

Top Democrat's wife may have gained 'illegal private benefit' from his committee activities
[Washington Examiner] A charity run by the wife of Rep. Elijah Cummings received millions from special interest groups and corporations that had business before her husband’s committee and could have been used illegally, according to an IRS complaint filed by an ethics watchdog group.

Cummings, 68, a Maryland Democrat, is chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform. His wife, Maya Rockeymoore, 48, is the chairman of the Maryland Democratic Party and briefly ran in the state's gubernatorial race last year. The couple married in 2008. Cummings was once heavily in debt ‐ in part due to hefty child support payments to his first wife and two other women he had children with ‐ but his financial situation has improved considerably over the past decade.

Rockeymoore runs two entities, a nonprofit group called the Center for Global Policy Solutions and a for-profit consulting firm called Global Policy Solutions, LLC, whose operations appear to have overlapped, according to the IRS complaint filed by watchdog group the National Legal and Policy Center on Monday. The complaint states that the arrangement may have been used to derive "illegal private benefit."

Britain's Pro-Brexit Party Is Forecast To Dominate The Upcoming Election And Feelings Will Be Hurt
[RedState] The United Kingdom is currently stuck in a malaise over Brexit, with Theresa May continuing to fail with her proposals for how exactly to accomplish the pullout from the European Union.

May’s strategy has been a kind of soft Brexit, which lets the U.K. officially leave but then saddles them with many of the same regulations and issues they suffer with now. There’s no point in leaving the EU if Britain will still be under the thumb of Brussels but without any of the economic benefits. Problems with how to handle the border with Northern Ireland also continue to throw a wrench in things.

That’s a very simplified version of the situation, but the overall theme is that she can’t cobble together a majority to avoid the coming hard Brexit (which has already been extended once).

In the middle of all this, European Parliament elections are coming up on Thursday in the U.K. and we may be in for another big result. Nigel Farage’s Brexit Party is set to dominate according to polling and looks to take nearly double the seats of the Labour and Liberal parties.

Dems Clash in Closed Meeting, Members of Pelosi's Leadership Team Revolt on Impeachment
[Townhall] House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is once again struggling to maintain control over her new majority's caucus -- even battling dissension among her own leadership team. Pelosi has already faced multiple rank-and-file insurrections on GOP-led motions to recommit, caved to pressure and lost a battle over condemning a freshman member's anti-Semitism, decided to ignore her chamber's budgeting requirements in order to sidestep endless intra-party spending battles, and recently watched as her party was forced to shelve (since revived) DREAM Act legislation due to internal squabbling over extending amnesty to people with criminal records. Her latest headache is on impeachment, which she's opposed for months on tactical grounds.

Her rhetorical fence-straddling has been awkward and strained at times (what does this mean?), and now it appears as though there's a growing chance that her delicate balancing act could be heading toward a breaking point (see update). In a closed-door meeting yesterday, top House Democrats reportedly clashed over the issue of pursuing impeachment against President Trump. Though Pelosi did not abandon her opposition to the idea, her stance came under siege from some typical allies:

The ambassador of North Korea to the United Nations has warned the United States that its "outrageous" seizure of a cargo ship could have consequences on the future of US-North Korean relations, as he reiterated a demand for the immediate return of the vessel.

The Wise Honest, North Korea's second-largest cargo ship, was first detained in April 2018 by Indonesia while transporting a large amount of coal. The US announced on May 9 that it had confiscated the vessel because it was carrying coal in violation of UN sanctions, a first-of-its kind enforcement action that came amid a delicate moment in relations with North Korea.

In a rare press conference on Tuesday, Ambassador Kim Song said that Pyongyang was closely monitoring Washington's "every move" following the seizure, which he said was aimed at bringing maximum pressure on his country to make it "kneel down".

"The United States should deliberate and think over the consequences its outrageous acts might have on the future development," Kim said.

'Slap in the face': Daughter of CIA officer killed after 9/11 slams 'American Taliban' release
[Washington Examiner] The last time Alison Spann saw her father, she was 9 years old. "My family drove to CIA," she recalls. "I was the only one who cried. The last memory I have of my dad is him walking away from us in the dark with all his bags."

That was shortly after the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Johnny "Mike" Spann was 32, a CIA paramilitary officer and former Marine who knew he was bound for northern Afghanistan and might never return. Less than two months later ‐ and moments after he had been questioning a bedraggled Taliban detainee named John Walker Lindh ‐ he was killed by a mob of prisoners attempting to escape from the remote fortress of Qala-i-Jangi.

In a cruel twist of fate, Alison Spann's mother died of cancer a month later. Suddenly, the young girl became the first orphan of what was already known as the War on Terror.

Now 27, Alison Spann is a television reporter working in Biloxi, Mississippi. After her father was killed, Lindh, now 38, was recaptured and it was discovered he was an American who had grown up in California, converted to Islam at age 16, and at 20, traveled to Afghanistan, joining the Taliban before 9/11 and attending al Qaeda training camps. After being captured by Northern Alliance fighters on Nov. 25, 2001, he was taken to Qala-i-Jangi.

'Unprecedented power': William Barr blasts federal judges over nationwide injunctions
[Washington Times] Attorney General William P. Barr on Tuesday railed against federal courts issuing nationwide injunctions blocking President Trump from implementing his policies, saying they wield "unprecedented power."

In a speech before the American Law Institute, Mr. Barr said such injunctions block politicians of all stripes from enacting the voters’ will.

"One judge can, in effect, cancel the policy with the stroke of the pen," he said. "No official in the United States government can exercise that kind of nationwide power, with the sole exception of the president. And the Constitution subjects him to nationwide election, among other constitutional checks, as a prerequisite to wielding that power."

Mr. Barr pointed the finger squarely at the American Law Institute for contributing to the problem. He blamed a 2010 commentary it published saying individual cases are the same as aggregate litigation because in both cases the relief would apply to one or several individuals.

That’s wrong, Mr. Barr said, because it ignores prior legal precedent.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Will the Deep State Conspirators Ever Be Held Accountable?
[PJ] Democrats and their complicit media wildly overpromised on how damaging the Mueller report would be to President Trump. They paid a huge price when Mueller did not deliver. Collusion diehards like Adam Schiff and Jerrold Nadler look delusional with their ongoing search for something that never existed.

The Deep State coup attempt stands busted cold, its perpetrators caught red-handed in unbelievable and un-American actions aimed at covering up Hillary Clinton’s inarguable illegalities and overturning an election whose result they could not abide.

For Trumpservatives the schadenfreude was sweet. But now, those vindicated supporters of the president must caution against being overpromised to themselves. To what extent, if any, will Russia-Gate actors like Lynch, Simpson, Brennan, Clapper, Comey, Strzok, Page and the rest be held accountable for their alleged criminality?

Fox News host Sean Hannity has led the charge against the Russian hoaxers and their plot to thwart the will of the national electorate. In a sane media landscape, he would win the Pulitzer Prize. As a regular aspect of his reportage, Hannity asks of his truth-seekers a question inquiring minds want definitively answered. To paraphrase, "Will Deep State bad actors be held accountable for what they have done?"

The answer, from Fourth Estate constitutionalists like Gregg Jarrett and Sara Carter, is always couched in a context of cautionary advisement: "They should," or, "If justice still exists in America, yes," or, the best conditional condemnation of all, "Put it this way, if you or I had done what (Hillary, Comey, Strzok, etc.) had done, yes, we would likely be looking at serious jail time."

Lying to a FISA court, destroying evidence, leaking classified information. These are but a minimal sampling of the alleged crimes and malefactions committed in the name of electing Clinton and usurping Trump’s ascendancy.

Afghanistan
Pakistani Duplicity Caused the United States to Lose in Afghanistan
[The National Interest] The war in Vietnam was not lost in the field, nor was it lost on the front pages of the New York Times or the college campuses. It was lost in Washington, D.C."

H. R. McMaster wrote that statement in his 1997 scathing critique of the Vietnam War, Dereliction of Duty: Lyndon Johnson, Robert McNamara, the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and the Lies That Led to Vietnam. He was a major in the Army at that time. Now, he is a retired lieutenant general and former national security advisor to President Donald Trump.

It is indeed ironic that McMaster eventually contributed to what many people thought to be impossible by repeating the mistakes of Vietnam and losing the Afghanistan war‐both in the field and in Washington, DC.

The real tragedy is that America’s leaders, in particular its military leaders, long knew that the war in Afghanistan could not be won having chosen to fight it in a manner that was alien to its nature, thus wasting both treasure and precious lives.

For over seventeen years we have wrongly applied counterinsurgency doctrine to a proxy war waged by Pakistan against the United States and Afghanistan. At the same time, we supplied Pakistan with generous aid packages to bribe them from pursuing a course of action opposed to our own, which they considered in their national interest.

Counterinsurgency was never a winning strategy as long as Pakistan controlled the supply of our troops in landlocked Afghanistan and regulated the operational tempo through its proxy army, the Taliban, which has maintained an extensive recruiting, training and financial support infrastructure inside Pakistan, where it has been immune to attack.

In essence, our leaders, through a combination of incompetence and indifference, allowed the United States to be defeated by Pakistan and paid them to do it.

Pakistan’s objectives for Afghanistan have always been different than those of the United States. Not only has Pakistan not helped the United States in Afghanistan, but from the very beginning through its support of the Taliban, Pakistan has actively worked against our interests and is responsible for prolongation of the war and the deaths and maiming of thousands of Americans and Afghans.

Bangladesh government blocks news website in fresh blow to media
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Bangladesh authorities have blocked access to a popular news portal in what critics on Tuesday condemned as the latest blow to freedom of expression in the South Asian nation.

Poriborton.com, one of the country’s top five online news outlets, was shut without notice on Sunday, managing editor Abu Sufian told AFP. He did not give a reason.

Officials for government agencies that regulate the internet industry denied any knowledge of the case or refused to comment.

But a Bangladesh media industry source said a government security agency ordered the closure after the website raised questions about the financing behind a newspaper advert against Moslem militancy.

Moslem groups had condemned the advert, saying it described some signs of Islamic faith as marks of radicalization.

In recent months the authorities have shut 54 news portals and websites, including that of the main opposition party, citing security reasons.

They cut access to the website of Qatar

Sweden-based researcher and author, Tasneem Khalil, told AFP that Poriborton.com was the "latest victim of a robust system of internet censorship in Bangladesh that has been rolled out since the beginning of this year."

Khalil, a former journalist in Bangladesh who went into exile in 2007, said "security sources told me that access to poriborton.com was blocked because of a report it published that angered the Bangladeshi military intelligence agency."

-Land of the Free
Judge Orders Antifa Activist Yvette Felarca to Pay Judicial Watch Legal Fees for Her ‘Entirely Frivolous' Lawsuit
[JudicialWatch] Judicial Watch announced that a U.S. District Judge in California awarded Judicial Watch $22,000 in legal fees in a case filed by an Antifa organizer in an effort to block Judicial Watch from obtaining information about her activities.

Yvette Felarca, a middle school teacher in the Berkeley Unified School District (BUSD), and two co-plaintiffs were ordered to pay Judicial Watch $22,000 in attorney’s fees and $4,000 in litigation costs. Felarca had sued the BUSD in federal court to keep the school district from fulfilling its legal obligation to provide Judicial Watch with records of their communications mentioning: Felarca, Antifa, and/or BAMN. Judicial Watch also asked for Felarca’s personnel file.

Felarca is a prominent figure in By Any Means Necessary (BAMN), a group founded by the Marxist Revolutionary Workers League that protests conservative speaking engagements. In 2016, Felarca and two of her allies were arrested and charged with several crimes, including felony assault, for inciting a riot in Sacramento. Earlier this year, Felarca was ordered to stand trial for assault.

U.S. District Judge Vince Chhabria, Northern District of California, who had previously ruled that Felarca’s lawsuit was “entirely frivolous,” wrote in his ruling awarding legal fees to Judicial Watch that Felarca and her co-plaintiffs’ First Amendment claims were “premised on the obviously baseless assumption” that the First Amendment condemns the speech of some while condoning the ideological missions of others.

Judge Chhabria added that “The plaintiffs also mischaracterized the documents under review” and that the plaintiffs “failed to grapple with the role Ms. Felarca played in making herself a topic of public discourse through her physical conduct at public rallies and her voluntary appearance on Fox News.”

Judge Chhabria’s order also states that “a significant portion of the documents the plaintiffs initially sued to protect from disclosure had been publicly disclosed months earlier in another suit brought by Ms. Felarca against BUSD, where she was represented by the same counsel. (See generally Felarca v. Berkeley Unified School District, No. 3:16-cv-06184-RS). The plaintiffs, therefore, had no reasonable argument to protect those documents from disclosure.”

Along with Felarca’s $20,000 payment, co-plaintiffs Lori Nixon and Larry Stefl were ordered by Judge Chhabria to pay Judicial Watch $1,000 each (Yvette Felarca, et al., v. Berekely Unified School District, et al. (No. 3:17-cv-06282-VC)).

Sudan protest group calls for a general strike as talks falter
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Sudan’s main protest group called on Tuesday for a general strike, saying two late-night negotiation sessions with the military had failed to reach a deal on how to lead the country after the overthrow of former president Omar al-Bashir
Head of the National Congress Party. He came to power in 1989 when he, as a brigadier in the Sudanese army, led a group of officers in a bloodless military coup that ousted the government of Prime Minister Sadiq al-Mahdi and eventually appointed himself president-for-life. He has fallen out with his Islamic mentor, Hasan al-Turabi, tried to impose shariah on the Christian and animist south, resulting in its secessesion, and attempted to Arabize Darfur by unleashing the barbaric Janjaweed on it. Sudan's potential prosperity has been pissed away in warfare that has left as many as 400,000 people dead and 2.5 million displaced. Omar has been indicted for genocide by the International Criminal Court but nothing is expected to come of it.
An alliance of protest and opposition organizations is demanding civilians head a new Sovereign Council meant to oversee a three-year transition towards democracy.

But the Sudanese Professionals Association (SPA) protest group said the army was still insisting on directing the transition and keeping a military majority on the council.

"Civilian power means that the structure is fully civilian with a civilian majority in all its parts," the SPA said in a statement. It said members should mobilize for a strike, without giving a date.

The impasse has hit hopes of a quick recovery from the political turmoil that ended al-Bashir’s three-decade rule on April 11.

Britannia, the United States, and Norway, who are working together on Sudan, urged all parties to quickly end the uncertainty and build consensus, warning against any outcome without a civilian-led government.

"This will complicate international engagement, and make it harder for our countries to work with the new authorities and support Sudan’s economic development," they said in a statement.

Al-Bashir, the former Islamist general under whose rule Sudan was placed on a U.S. list of sponsors of terrorism, was ousted by the army after months of protests against soaring prices, cash shortages and other economic hardships.

The army set up a Transitional Military Council (TMC) to rule the country and promised to hand over after elections.

Egypt orders autopsy of Palestinian who died in Turkish jail
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The Egypt Public Prosecution Office has decided to perform another autopsy on the body of Zaki Mubarak, the Paleostinian man who was tossed in the clink
Drop the rod and step away witcher hands up!
in The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...just another cheapjack Moslem dictatorship, brought to you by the Moslem Brüderbund....
on spying charges and died in mysterious circumstances, with Ankara alleging his suicide and his family accusing Turkey of killing him.

Egypt’s attorney general Nabil Sadeq has decided to investigate Mubarak’s "murder" and ordered a re-examination of the body to identify the cause of death.

In a phone call with Al Arabiya, Zaki Mubarak’s lawyer, Sharif Sudqi, said, "We saw that the corpse is in a very bad condition and has been subjected to brutal torture. He has been killed in a barbaric way. We requested a corpse dissection from the attorney general, even though we knew the legal hardships, since the crime has been committed outside Egypt and the victim is not Egyptian."

"I was in shock and amazement. I did not even recognize my brother," Mubarak’s brother Zakaria said after receiving the body in Cairo. "His daughters were able to identify him through distinctive features," he added.

Mubarak’s brother and lawyer both confirmed that the body will be on its way to Gazoo as soon as the autopsy, which is scheduled for Tuesday evening in Cairo's Zeinhom morgue, is done.

Mubarak’s body arrived in Cairo from Turkey on May 16, along with a medical report from the Ottoman Turkish authorities written in Ottoman Turkish, English, and Arabic, according to Sudqi.

"All three reports do not have a death certificate but include records of injuries and bruises," Sudqi told Al Arabiya.

"The report contradicted itself. It stated that the result of death was natural but at the same time, it said that the cause of death was due to several injuries. International courts will review all documents," Zakaria said.

Should the expected cause of death be proven, Sudqi says the case will be raised to the International Criminal Court, the European Court of Human Rights in La Belle France, and several other entities.

Hussam Toukan, a doctor delegated by the Paleostinian embassy in Cairo, had earlier said that performing any new autopsy on the body "is not possible as the body was completely decomposed," in a short report that caused outrage among Mubarak’s family members.

Zakaria said that Toukan’s report did not help the family’s quest for justice.

"The body is completely empty. Even the tongue does not exist," he told Al Arabiya from Cairo.

The Maat Foundation for Peace, Development, and Human Rights filed a complaint on Mubarak’s death to UN special rapporteurs on extrajudicial executions and torture.

Family protests 10-year-old girl's abduction, murder and alleged rape in Islamabad; 2 arrested
[DAWN] Two people were jugged
Please don't kill me!
on Tuesday in connection with the abduction, murder and alleged rape of a 10-year-old girl, Farishta, in Islamabad's Shahzad Town area, police sources told DawnNewsTV.

The victim's family is staging a protest at Taramari Chowk in Islamabad, calling for action to be taken against the culprits. Negotiations between the family and district administration are underway. The protesters said they will bury the victim after negotiations are successful.

According to an FIR filed by the victim's father, Gul Nabi, his daughter had gone out to play on May 15 around 5pm, but did not return. Upon failing to find her, he feared that she had been kidnapped.

He stated that he had gone to the cop shoppe "instantly" and reported the incident. A missing person's report was filed on May 16, the FIR stated.

The victim's father requested in the FIR ‐ dated May 19 ‐ that his daughter be recovered and those involved in the incident be punished. The body was of 10-year-old Farishta was found on May 20, according to DawnNewsTV.

Gul Nabi said that there were torture marks and wounds on his daughter's body. He alleged that his daughter ─ who had been missing for at least four days before her body was found in a wooded area ─ had been raped before she was killed.

The suspects, Nabi alleged, had also thrown acid on his daughter.

Nabi also alleged that the Shehzad Town police, instead of taking action or filing an FIR, had victim-blamed the 10-year-old girl and posed insensitive questions to the family, such as asking whether she had eloped with someone.

MNA Mohsin Dawar, who has been highlighting the case on social media, also alleged that the victim's parents had "continuously requested concerned cop shoppe for FIR but they refused".

He confirmed that an FIR had been registered under sections pertaining to kidnapping (365-B, PPC) on Sunday night (May 19), after the girl's body was recovered.

Dawar, in a tweet on Monday, alleged that Polyclinic Hospital had refused to conduct a postmortem examination on the body.

However,
if you can't say something nice about a person some juicy gossip will go well...
on Tuesday, hospital sources told DawnNewsTV that the exam had been conducted and the results are awaited.

Egypt says 16 suspected militants killed in Sinai
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Egypt’s interior ministry said on Tuesday 16 suspected gunnies have been killed in North Sinai, where security forces have for years been battling a local affiliate of ISIS krazed killer group.

The gunnies were killed during police raids on their hideouts in the scenic provincial capital el-Arish, the ministry said in a statement, without detailing when the raids took place.

Based on intelligence from the national security department, the ministry alleged the gunnies had been planning attacks on "important and vital facilities" as well as prominent figures in the city.

Egypt has for years been fighting an insurgency in North Sinai, which escalated following the 2013 military ousting of president Mohammed Morsi.

Since then, hundreds of coppers and soldiers have been killed in bad boy attacks.

In February 2018, the army launched a nationwide operation against the bad boys, focusing mainly on the turbulent North Sinai region.

Some 650 gunnies and around 45 soldiers have been killed since the start of the offensive, according to separate statements by the armed forces.

#1  Somebody tell Erdogan to unite any four random muslims from any one country over any one thing.

Unity comes from collective integrity and association over some noble cause or standard. Islam is institutionalized savagery. Which is why in no muslim country is there any coherent motivation or rationality in society.

And this is as it should be. Islam is a blight on human civilization, a snake biting at the heels of the sons of men. And one day it'll be crushed.

CNN Turk criticized for cutting opposition mayor interview
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] CNN’s Ottoman Turkish channel was criticized Tuesday after it cut short an interview with the opposition candidate for Istanbul mayor as he began to talk about the municipality’s "extravagant" spending.

Social media users lashed out at CNN Turk after it stopped Monday night’s interview with Ekrem Imamoglu of the Republican People’s Party (CHP) half an hour ahead of schedule.

One Twitter user @muratagirel suggested CNN Turk change the program’s name from "Unbiased Zone" to "Biased Zone".
How clever!
Imamoglu was dramatically stripped of his victory in March’s vote after the country’s top election body annulled the results over claims of "irregularities" and ordered a new election for June 23.

He is rarely given time on Ottoman Turkish screens, whereas President Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First

delivered almost daily televised speeches ahead of the March vote on behalf of ruling party candidate Binali Yildirim, a former prime minister.

Does the secret "activator" have any bad properties to make it or dispose of it or constituents? Inquiring minds, and all that.

US Dems raise alarm over Trump's escalating threats against Iran
[Al Jazeera] US Democratic politicians expressed scepticism and alarm after receiving closed-door briefings from key Trump administration officials on Tuesday about escalating tensions with Iran.

The briefings were given by Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, acting Secretary of Defense Patrick Shanahan, Chairman of Joint Chiefs General Joseph Dunford and an official from the US Defense Intelligence Agency.

"Secretary Pompeo made a very lengthy political argument and he argued, 'Here are all the terrible things that Iran has done', and he spent about 10 minutes until I cut him off," Representative Adam Smith, the Democrat chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, told news hounds after the briefing for House members.

"And as every member who stood up has said, 'We know Iran is bad. What is the policy going forward?' There wasn't enough information on that," Smith said.

Trump officials cast the discussion as the United States responding to provocations from Iran, but failed to mention President Donald Trump

"There was an echo of years past," Eshoo said.

The Trump officials presented their case as, "This is what we are finding. This is what we are trying to deter. But if we find something, then, of course, we would have to act because we'd have to respond," she said.

Gaetz says 'most compelling' evidence in the Trump-Russia probe could be days away
[FOX] Florida congressman Matt Gaetz revealed Monday night that "most compelling" evidence in the Trump-Russia collusion investigation is days, if not weeks away.

According to Gaetz, R-Fla., secret unreleased transcripts involving former Trump aide George Papadopoulos reveal that he denied there was an illegal conspiracy between the Trump campaign and Russia and that intelligence officials did not present that information to the FISA court.

"I believe we are days if not weeks aways for the most in compelling evidence in the biggest political scandal in American history," Gaetz said on "Hannity" Monday.

"There was western intelligence sent to spy on Papadopoulos and there's a recording and transcript of the conversation. And there, Papadopoulos denies any illegal conspiracy between the Trump campaign and Russia. So, they had evidence presumably that was against Papadopoulos and for him. What they will wont be able to defend is that they never presented that evidence to the FISA court."

Former congressman Trey Gowdy made mention of such transcripts during an appearance on Fox News' “Sunday Morning Futures,” suggesting it is likely the FBI would have transcripts of discussions between informants and Papadopoulos and calling them game-changing if made public.

Gaetz said that this information is what Attorney General William Barr spoke about last week with Fox News' Bill Hemmer.

"This is what Attorney General Barr means when he talks about them putting their thumb on the scale. The government has an obligation before a secret court with no defense attorney to present all of the exculpatory evidence that they are provided, all of the exculpatory evidence," Gaetz said.

Gaetz argued why the evidence is so important.

Dutch minister resigns over asylum-seeker crime report
[DW] The Dutch migration minister has quit after coming under fire over how crimes involving asylum-seekers were reported. Mark Harbers' ministry placed offenses such as sexual assault and murder under the term "other."

The Netherlands' migration minister, Mark Harbers (pictured), resigned on Tuesday following an outcry over a report which appeared to downplay crime statistics in relation to asylum-seekers.

Harbers presented a report to the Dutch parliament that included information on crimes committed by asylum-seekers. Various misdemeanors, such as shoplifting, had their own separate categories but serious crimes such as sexual assault, murder and manslaughter were placed under the category "other."

During a parliamentary discussion, the politician stated he had offered his resignation. He took "total responsibility" for not correctly informing the chamber but said it was "not deliberate."

Harbers' fall comes amid a mini-crisis for the center-right Prime Minister Mark Rutte as he tries to stave off a surge for euroskeptic and anti-immigration parties who look set to make gains across the continent in European elections on Thursday.

Rutte tweeted saying though he "respected" Harbers' decision to quit, it was "incredibly regrettable that the cabinet must say goodbye to such a talented and committed liberal."

Iran's Zarif: US playing 'dangerous game' in Gulf showdown
[Al Jazeera] Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif warned the United States is "playing a dangerous game" by boosting its military might in the Gulf as the fiery

rhetoric between Washington and Tehran continues.

Zarif criticised the US move to deploy an aircraft carrier strike group and bomber task force earlier this month in response to an unspecified threat, cautioning that "having all these military assets in a small area is in of itself prone to accidents".

"Extreme prudence is required and the United States is playing a very, very dangerous game," he told CNN in an interview broadcast on Tuesday.

Friction between Tehran and Washington has steadily ratcheted up this month, a year after US President Donald Trump

pulled out of a landmark 2015 nuclear accord brokered between the Islamic Theocratic Republic and several other world powers. Under the deal, formally known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), Iran agreed to curb its nuclear programme in exchange for sanctions relief.

Since then, the Trump administration has pursued a "maximum pressure" campaign against Tehran, which it accuses of being a destabilising actor in the Middle East.

"I think they've crossed the line," Mikulas Minar, one of the student founders of the Million Moments for Democracy (Milion Chvilek), the NGO organising the protests, told Al Jazeera when asked why the demonstrations have picked up such momentum so quickly.

"Complaints about Babis have been common, but now people are afraid it's no longer a game but a serious assault on democracy," added fellow activist Benjamin Roll.

On the square that hosted the Velvet Revolution, the 1989 demonstrations that brought down the communist regime, the crowd waved Czech and EU flags and sent up deafening whistles every time Babis' sins were mentioned in speeches.

There was no comment from Saudi authorities on the report.

Al-Awdah is an internationally renowned progressive Islamic scholar described by UN experts as a "reformist", al-Qarni is a preacher, academic and author, and al-Omari is a popular broadcaster.

In an Indian village, Muslims talk of leaving as divide with Hindus widens
[DAWN] Moslems in Nayabans, an unremarkable village in northern India, say they remember a time when their children played with Hindu youths, and people from either faith chatted when the frequented each other's shops and went to festivals together.

Such interactions no longer happen, many say, because of how polarised the two communities have become in the past two years, and some are frightened and thinking of moving away ‐ if they can afford it.

Moslem residents who spoke to Rooters said they thought tensions would only worsen if Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Hindu nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) wins a second term in the current general election, as exit polls released on Sunday indicate is likely. Votes will be counted on Thursday.

"Things were very good earlier. Moslems and Hindus were together in good and bad times, weddings to deaths. Now we live our separate ways despite living in the same village," said Gulfam Ali, who runs a small shop selling bread and tobacco.

#3  Some context. Because why trust a Paki paper on Indian news.

As it happens, I know this place. It is a shithole suburb that was once a village. Due to classic Indian municipal zoning, factories and storage dumps came up all around the village and the land was encroached by cheap labour that factories employed. As can be guessed, the cheapest labor is illegal migrants. Bangladeshi muslims began to proliferate, a masjid came up... two. Now immigrant muslims in India, especially surrounded by hindu communities always feel restricted. And of course, they have to be extra polite, smile and reign in their inherent proclivities to survive.

The divide that the Paki paper speaks of is symbolic of the recent call from local govt.s for census on illegal immigrants and unlawful masjids and unregulated madarsas and preachers.

Long story short, there is a Far-Right regime in the state, and the heat is on for islamists everywhere except for southern states.

Marta Hurtado, spokeswoman for the UN high commissioner for human rights
One man's rights are another man's existential threat.

The killings in Deraa, the birthplace of the uprising against Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad

's rule, took place despite attempts at reconciliation between the government and former fighters.

Deraa surrendered to the Syrian army under a deal brokered by Russia in July last year. Assad's government offered amnesty to former fighters under the so-called "reconciliation" agreements.

The 11 deaths that took place from July 26, 2018, to March 13, 2019, included fatal drive-by shootings, the UN rights office said in a report.

The agency said it was not in a position to identify any perpetrators as it has no presence in Syria, which has been gripped by war since 2011.

a man after he, along with two others, were allegedly accused by a teenage girl ─ who took her own life on Sunday ─ and her family, of blackmailing her with doctored photos and "making her life miserable".

An 18-year-old girl in Badin, Anila Parmar, took her own life by ingesting poison on Sunday. In a suicide note, she narrated her ordeal, and wrote: "I want to live, but Soam Meghwar, Mahesh and Ashok have made my life miserable."

The case caught the attention of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Badin Hassan Sardar Niazi after it was raised by activists on social media, who demanded justice for the family.

SSP Niazi visited the Parmar family on Monday and assured them of his support in tracking down the suspects.

Station House Officer (SHO) Tando Ghulam Ali Riaz Rind was ordered to register a First Information Report against the suspects and arrest those involved in blackmailing the victim.

According to the FIR registered on Monday by Dr Lakhman Parmar, the victim's father, at the Tando Ghulam Ali cop shoppe, three men had blackmailed his daughter for the past six months using doctored images of her. They extorted Rs50,000 from her monthly by sending her the edited photos, the FIR stated.

UN envoy warns of ‘long and bloody war’ in Libya
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The UN envoy for Libya warned Tuesday that the battle for Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
was "just the start of a long and bloody war" and called for immediate steps to cut off arms flows fueling the fighting.
What's eight years of what we've seen but a long and bloody war?
Addressing the Security Council, Ghassan Salame said many countries were supplying weapons to the UN-recognized government in Tripoli and forces led by Khalifa Haftar
...Self-proclaimed Field Marshal, served in the Libyan army under Muammar Qadaffy, and took part in the coup that brought Qadaffy to power in 1969. He became a prisoner of war in Chad in 1987. While held prisoner, he and his fellow officers formed a group hoping to overthrow Qadaffy. He was released around 1990 in a deal with the United States government and spent nearly two decades in the United States, gaining US citizenship. In 1993, while living in the United States, he was convicted in absentia of crimes against the Jamahiriya and sentenced to death. Haftar held a senior position in the anti-Qadaffy forces in the 2011 Libyan Civil War. In 2014 he was commander of the Libyan Army when the General National Congress (GNC) refused to give up power in accordance with its term of office. Haftar launched a campaign against the GNC and its Islamic fundamentalist allies. His campaign allowed elections to take place to replace the GNC, but then developed into a civil war. Guess you can't win them all...
Haftar launched an offensive on April 4 to seize the capital but his forces have been bogged down in the southern outskirts of Tripoli.

"I am no Cassandra, but the violence on the outskirts of Tripoli is just the start of a long and bloody war on the southern shores of the Mediterranean, imperiling the security of Libya’s immediate neighbors and the wider Mediterranean region," Salame said.

Without immediate action to stop the flow of arms, "Libya will descend into a civil war which could potentially lead to a Hobbesian all-against-all state of chaos or partition of the country," he said.

His appeal came after the Tripoli-based Government of National Accord posted photographs at the weekend of dozens of Ottoman Turkish-made armored vehicles that it said on its Facebook page were fresh deliveries for its fighters.

Pro-Haftar websites also posted photos and video footage of Jordanian-built armored cars they said were supplied to Haftar’s Libyan National Army, based in the east.

The Security Council failed last month to agree on a draft resolution demanding a ceasefire in Libya and a return to political talks to end the conflict.

Russia refused to include any mention of Haftar’s offensive on Tripoli while the United States said it needed more time to consider the situation, diplomats said.

The envoy urged the council to set up a commission of inquiry to "determine who has taken up arms" and prevent indicted war crimes suspects from taking part in military operations.

More than 75,000 people have been driven from their homes in the latest fighting and 510 have been killed, according to the World Health Organization.

Thief steals chemo medication from patient’s porch
[NYPOST] A brazen thief stole chemotherapy medication from an Oklahoma City man’s doorstep just minutes after it was delivered, delaying his treatment for brain cancer.

James Mills, 43, said his planned round of chemotherapy on Monday would not happen after a hooded suspect swiped the potentially life-saving delivery from his porch on Saturday.

"I checked the door and didn’t see the package," Mills told KFOR. "I double checked and they said it had been delivered. I check the security cameras, and I saw the UPS driver deliver it, then about eight minutes later another individual comes up, grabs it and takes off."

Video shows that the suspect took steps to avoid identifying himself during the heartless heist, keeping his head down and away from two cameras installed on Mills’ porch.

"I’m set to start a rotation of chemo [Monday] and it takes a day at least to get that mail ordered to us, so that’s kind of my concern at this point," Mills told the station. "Every thing has to be taken at a certain time, at a certain dose ... so hopefully I can get a replacement before I get too far out of range."

Mills’ wife, Heather, said she was seething over the aggravation the thief has caused her husband.

"It’s not easy to get, I mean, we had trouble getting medicine to begin with," she told the station. "Just having to call the pharmacy and go through the doctor and get approvals and things like that, so just that in itself is frustrating. So now to have to go through it all over again, just to get a replacement, it made me really angry."

Polio programme introduces reforms after rise in cases
[DAWN] The polio
...Poliomyelitis is a disease caused by infection with the poliovirus. Between 1840 and the 1950s, polio was a worldwide epidemic. Since the development of polio vaccines the disease has been largely wiped out in the civilized world. However, since the vaccine is known to make Moslem pee-pees shrink and renders females sterile, bookish, and unsubmissive it is not widely used by the turban and automatic weapons set...
programme will undergo major operational reforms after a continuous rise in the number of polio cases across the country.

The reforms include reducing the number of visits and follow-ups by polio vaccination teams, eliminating the use of data registers and limiting the number of questions families are asked.

Pakistain is one of the last two countries, alongside Afghanistan, where poliovirus cases are being reported.

A total of 17 cases have been reported this year; six from Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, five from KP’s tribal districts, three from Punjab
1.) Little Orphan Annie's bodyguard
2.) A province of Pakistain ruled by one of the Sharif brothers
3.) A province of India. It is majority (60 percent) Sikh and Hindoo (37 percent), which means it has relatively few Moslem riots....

and three from Sindh.

Explaining the reforms, Prime Minister’s Focal Person on Polio Babar Bin Atta told Dawn that polio workers used to carry registers that were introduced in 2016, which they will no longer carry.

"Polio workers said it was not possible for them to interact and convince families because they spent most of their time filling data in the registers," he said.

The number of questions for residents has also been reduced to prevent them from panicking, he said.

"Residents will be asked how many children are in the house and how many of them have been vaccinated.

"Earlier, workers were directed to ask how many couples were in the house, when they were married, how many children they had and if there were any pregnant women in the house and when delivery was expected," he said.

Mr Atta said that during and after every vaccination campaign, polio workers, the area in-charge, the technical tehsil monitor, union council representatives and so on made as many as nine visits.

"Now there will only be two visits, by the polio worker and supervisor. It will help to restore community trust," he said.

In response to a question, he said that the next polio vaccination campaign will be held in the second week of June.

"Now we will focus on environmental samples, and make sure that the virus is eradicated from the sewage," he said.

A positive environmental sample is one in which the poliovirus is found in sewage water. Samples of sewage water are the basic parameter to determine if polio vaccination campaigns have been successful in an area.

A polio case can be reported in any city due to the frequent movement of people from one city to another, but the presence of the virus in sewage water indicates that the vaccination campaign did not achieve its target.

It also shows that the immunity of local children has fallen and they are at risk of the disease.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Behind the FBI's witch-hunt targeting Donald Trump
[Washington Times] In the burgeoning controversy about the FBI investigation of Donald Trump, one thing is clear: The decision by Andrew McCabe as acting FBI director to open a counterintelligence probe targeting Mr. Trump after he fired FBI Director James Comey was based on false pretenses.

In his book "The Threat," Mr. McCabe says he opened that investigation and urged Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein to appoint a special counsel based almost entirely on Mr. Trump’s comment to NBC’s Lester Holt that he thought about "this Russia thing" when he decided to fire Jim Comey as FBI director in May 2017.

Mr. McCabe interpreted those meandering words to mean that Mr. Trump fired Mr. Comey because the director was pursuing the ongoing FBI investigation into interference in the election and Mr. Trump wanted to stop it. But as noted in my book "The Trump White House," Mr. Trump went on to say twice to Mr. Holt that he recognized that by firing Mr. Comey, he was probably prolonging the investigation and that he wanted it "to be absolutely done properly." It was the exact opposite of attempting to obstruct an investigation.

If Mr. McCabe had cited the rest of what Mr. Trump said, he would have exposed as baseless his own rationale for starting an investigation of Mr. Trump. But Mr. McCabe did not. Instead, in his book Mr. McCabe deliberately and dishonestly omitted the rest of what Mr. Trump said to Mr. Holt about his dismissal of Mr. Comey probably lengthening the Russia investigation.

Mr. McCabe went on to cite parenthetically the fact that in a "demeaning and dismissive way," Mr. Trump had referred to the ongoing FBI investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election ‐ which included the possibility of collusion by the campaign ‐ as a "witch-hunt." So now defending yourself is reason to open an investigation that could lead to criminal charges against you.

’S’ (32) was asleep in the courtyard along with her two children when two suspects wearing masks entered the house, held her hostage at gunpoint and allegedly gang-raped her. Later, they cut her hair and threw acid on her as a result she suffered burns on her back, right arm and leg.

Solid and consistent Gender expectations lead to better marriages
[NYT] “Blue” marriages are better — or at least that is the conventional wisdom. Couples who live according to egalitarian values, sharing domestic responsibilities like housework and cooking, have long been seen as superior by most academics, journalists and public intellectuals engaged in the national conversation about the American family.

“We have every reason to believe that new values about marriage and sex roles will make it easier for parents to sustain and enrich their relationships,” the feminist family historian Stephanie Coontz wrote in 1997 in “The Way We Really Are: Coming to Terms With America’s Changing Families.” At the end of the last century, Ms. Coontz believed, the arc of American family life was bending toward a better and brighter future — a progressive one.

Today, this view retains considerable currency. A 2016 report from the Council on Contemporary Families suggested that in “today’s social climate, relationship quality and stability are generally highest” in more egalitarian relationships. The Bloomberg Opinion columnist Noah Smith has speculated that “maybe liberal morality is simply better adapted for creating stable two-parent families in a post-industrialized world.”

All the evidence that led to Mohammed Akram and Usman Khalid being found guilty of abusing Huddersfield grooming gang victim
[ExaminerLive] Mohammed Akram, Usman Khalid, Shahnaz Malik and Naveeda Habib from Huddersfield were on trial at Leeds Crown Court.

Two men have been convicted after a grooming victim was repeatedly raped by a man.

Leeds Crown Court heard that the victim was groomed at the age of 11 and sexually abused by multiple men over the course several years, including Mohammed Akram and Usman Khalid.

The first times Akram and Usman sexually abused her she was aged 12.

Prosecutor Richard Wright QC said the victim was initially vulnerable because her mother was a drug addict and she was later taken into care.

Her original abuser was takeaway worker Zahid Hassan, also known as Little Manny, of Bland Street, Lockwood, Huddersfield.

Akram, also known as Kid, 33, of Springdale Street, Thornton Lodge, Huddersfield, denies five counts of rape, sexual assault, abducting a child and trafficking for sexual exploitation.

Khalid, also known as Gujji, 31, of Brook Street, Lockwood, Huddersfield, denies sexual assault. On May 10, he was found not guilty of child abduction on the judge's direction.

Akram and Khalid were both convicted yesterday (Monday).

Shahnaz Malik, 57, of St Anne's Avenue, Ainley Top, Huddersfield, and Naveeda Habib, 40, of Prince Wood Lane, Birkby, Huddersfield, are both charged with child cruelty.

The jury failed to reach a verdict on their charges.

The two men will be sentenced on June 21.

SUMMARY OF VICTIM'S ABUSE
Now that the trial and legal discussions have concluded, it can be reported that this trial was the latest in West Yorkshire Police’s Operation Tendersea investigation.

Throughout January to October last year, the investigation seen 20 men convicted and jailed for a total of 257 years.

Mohammed Akram was one of those 20 men - he had been convicted of two counts of trafficking for sexual exploitation and two counts of rape in relation to two victims.

He was just five months into his 17-year prison sentence when he returned to the dock for this trial.

It was the third trial that this victim has given evidence in, on top of multiple police interviews over the years.

Graham: Attacks on ships in Middle East coordinated by Iran
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Republican US Senator Lindsey Graham
... the endangered South Carolina RINO, fellow maverick of Honest John McCain...
said on Tuesday that top administration officials told senators in a briefing that the recent attacks on ships and a pipeline in the Middle East were directed by Iran's government and ayatollah.

"They explained to us how the Iranian threat streams were different than in the past, that the attack on the ships and the pipeline was coordinated and directed by the Iranian government, the ayatollah," Graham told news hounds.

Senior officials from the Trump administration held a closed-door briefing for the US Senate and House of Representatives about Iran on Tuesday. The briefers were Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, Acting Secretary of Defense Patrick Shanahan, Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman General Joseph Dunford and an unnamed representative of the intelligence community, Congressional aides said.

Shanahan said on Tuesday after briefing politicians on the threat from Iran that the United States had deterred possible attacks by deploying forces to the region.

"We have deterred attacks based on our reposturing of assets and deterred attacks against American forces. Our biggest focus at this point is to prevent Iranian miscalculation," Shanahan told news hounds on Capitol Hill.

US sees signs Syrian government may be using chemical weapons
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The United States sees signs the Syrian government may be using chemical weapons, including an alleged chlorine attack on May 19 in northwest Syria, the US State Department said on Tuesday.

"We are still gathering information on this incident, but we repeat our warning that if the Assad regime uses chemical weapons, the United States and our allies will respond quickly and appropriately," State Department spokeswoman Morgan Ortagus said in a statement.

"The May 19 alleged attack in northwest Syria is part of a violent campaign by the Assad regime that violates a ceasefire that has protected several million civilians in the greater Idlib area. This renewed Syrian regime offensive has targeted the communities of that area, which include a large number of Syrians who were already displaced from violence in others parts of Syria, and has destroyed known health facilities, schools, residences, and internally displaced person camps," Ortagus added.

President Donald Trump

’s administration has twice bombed Syria over Assad’s alleged use of chemical weapons, in April 2017 and April 2018. In September, a senior US official said there was evidence showing chemical weapons were being prepared by Syrian government forces in Idlib, the last major rebel stronghold in the country.

The State Department statement accused Russia and Assad’s forces of "a continuing disinformation campaign ... to create the false narrative that others are to blame for chemical weapons attacks."

"The facts, however, are clear," the statement said. The Assad regime itself has conducted almost all verified chemical weapons attacks that have taken place in Syria - a conclusion the United Nations

by the police.

According to the case statement, six months ago the accused tried to undress and rape the girl on camera on a mobile device in an abandoned room in the DC park area of Panchagarh town, but she managed to get away. Later, they threatened to make the video viral and harassed the girl several times. Eventually the video went viral and the family of the victim filed a case against them under the Women and Child Repression Act on May 17.

Acting on the case filing, police arrested the two, sent Fazlul to jail, and Antor to a juvenile correction centre.

According to the family, right after filing the case the accused party threatened the family to withdraw the case and they are now on the run.

The victim's mother confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune and said: "We were getting threats everyday to withdraw the case. Several of our accusations are not even reflected in the filed case documents. The police replaced our written case statement with something else ."

Case investigator at Panchagarh cop shoppe, Sub-inspector (SI) Jahidul Islam, said: "We arrested the accused. We applied for remand to interrogate the accused. We do not know anything about changing the case description."

Executive Engineer of the Public Administration Department, Rajibul Islam, said: "Fazlul used to work as the guard for this office. The divisional legal authorities will take action against him."

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
FM Javad Zarif: We don't want war, and no one can confront Iran
[Al Jazeera] Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif says he does not believe a war will break out in the region as Tehran does not want a conflict and no country has the "illusion it could confront Iran", state news agency IRNA reports.

Concerns about a possible conflict have flared since the White House ordered warships and bombers to the Middle East to counter an alleged, unexplained threat from Iran.

Earlier this week the US also pulled some diplomatic staff from its embassy in Baghdad following weekend attacks on four oil tankers off the coast of the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

"There will be no war because neither we want a war, nor has anyone the idea or illusion that it can confront Iran in the region," Zarif told IRNA before ending his visit to Beijing.

US deployment
Meanwhile,
...back at the Council of Boskone, Helmuth had turned a paler shade of blue. Star-A-Star had struck again...
Saudi media reported that the kingdom and a number of Gulf states have agreed to a request by the US to redeploy its military forces in Gulf waters and territories.

According to the reports, the approval came on the basis of bilateral agreements between Washington and Gulf countries.

The motive for redeployment, according to the Saudi reports, was to deter Iran from any attempt to escalate the situation militarily, not to engage in a war with it.

Indian lawmaker, family members among 11 killed in Arunachal Pradesh ambush
[DAWN] Eleven people, including a politician and four of his family, were killed in an ambush by tribal separatists in the eastern Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh, a senior police official said on Tuesday.

Heavily armed bully boyz fired automatic weapons at the five-vehicle convoy of Tirong Aboh, a member of the legislative assembly for the state seat of Khonsa, in the Tirap district near the border with Myanmar, the police official said.

"We are yet to ascertain the group responsible for the attack," the police official, who declined to be named as he is not authorised to talk to the media, told Rooters.

The area where the ambush took place is very remote, making an investigation of the attack difficult, the official said.

"Extremely shocked by unfortunate incident of killing of Khonsa MLA Tirong Aboh along with several others by bad boys," Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu tweeted.

Attacks on Indian officials by separatist militias have declined in recent years, though dozens of groups still operate in north and eastern areas of the country.

on terrorism charges over his Twitter activity, The Guardian reported on Monday.

Ozcan Keles, a UK citizen of Ottoman Turkish descent, was accused of allegedly spreading propaganda online, according to the British daily newspaper.

Turkey’s attempt to get Keles extradited is the latest in a series of previous attempts against critics or opponents of the Ottoman Turkish president, Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First
... Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him. It's a sin, a shame, and a felony to insult the president of Turkey...
Turkey has previously urged the UK to extradite those who were allegedly involved in the 2016 failed military coup attempt.

According to The Guardian, the extradition request alleges that Keles is a member of Feto, an organization that Turkey claims is associated with Gulen and the failed coup. The UK does not list it as a terrorist organization.

Turkey’s extradition request claims that Keles shared photos and videos of Gulen on social media as propaganda, something that the barrister denies.

Previous extradition attempts haven’t succeeded due to conclusions that the request was politically motivated or that Turkey’s prison system breaches human rights
...which are often intentionally defined so widely as to be meaningless...
