[NDTV] New Delhi: Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh today underscored that India reserves the right to change its policy of 'No First Use', which has been the cornerstone of India's nuclear weapons policy for decades. The government firmly stands by its 'No First Use' policy but "what happens in the future will depend on the circumstances," the minister said at Pokhran in Rajasthan, the site of two nuclear tests by India.
"Pokhran is the area which witnessed Atalji (former prime minister Atal Bihar Vajpayee's) firm resolve to make India a nuclear power and yet remain firmly committed to the doctrine of 'No First Use'. It is true that till now, India has strictly adhered to the 'No First Use' policy. What happens in the future depends on the circumstances," Rajnath Singh told reporters in Pokhran, where he attended the closing ceremony of the Army Scout Master competition in Pokhran.
The ruling BJP's manifesto for the 2014 elections included a promise to "revise and update India's nuclear doctrine". But while campaigning for that election, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had dismissed a question on scrapping the No First Use policy in an interview to news agency ANI. "No First Use was a great initiative of Atal Bihari Vajpayee - there is no compromise on that. We are very clear. No First Use is a reflection of our cultural inheritance," he had said in April 2014, on the verge of an election in which he stormed to power.
The wording suggests their mind is made up, pretty much.
This is not the first time in the last few years that BJP leaders have said it was time to amend India's position. In November 2016, then Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar had expressed reservations over India's nuclear posture. More recently, Lieutenant General BS Nagpal, the former commander-in-chief of the Strategic Forces Command, is reported to have said that the No First Use policy was a 'formula for disaster.'

At this point, there is no indication that Hill’s shooting of police officers was motivated by Islamism or anything other than a desire to resist arrest.
However, Islamism’s inherent hostility towards Western governments and values fuels anti-police bigotry that can justify violence against law enforcement. Clarion’s sources stated that many of the mosque’s attendees view the police as oppressors of Muslims.

[American Conservative] AKRON, Ohio‐Rolling Acres Mall in Akron opened in 1975. I was three years old.
Some of my earliest childhood memories are of going to that mall. The mall had only been there for two years, but to a five year old in 1977, it was as permanent and impressive as the pyramids of Egypt.

But by the early-1990s, the mall’s fortunes had begun to rapidly fade. And by the mid-2000s, it was nearly empty. The power was turned off in 2008. Soon afterward, the mall went viral on the internet as the ur-example of retail apocalypse and suburban decline.
The hollowed-out husk of what was once a temple to commerce, familial bonding, and teenage freedom rapidly became a post-apocalyptic casualty of late capitalism and a dangerous nuisance. The mall bounced from one absentee-owned LLC to another. The owner(s) stopped paying property taxes.
A man was killed by electrocution trying to steal copper pipe from the mall. An infamous serial killer dumped the body of one of his victims at the site. Photographers, urban explorers, and curiosity seekers descended upon the ruins, drawn by the site’s fall from grace. [Telegraph] Workers in Georgia were spooked Thursday by rumored ICE raids that echoed last week’s roundup in Mississippi, media outlets report.
After the workers reportedly abandoned their posts in anticipation, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement never showed up.
"We are aware of rumors that have sparked public concern in our community," Gainesville Police Department said in a Facebook post. "It is important to always be vigilant and rely on credible sources. Rumors of food processing plants and retailers are untrue."

Police in Gainesville, Georgia ‐ dubbed the "Poultry Capital of the World" ‐ were tipped off by the media reportedly trespassing at the processing plant Gold Creek Foods around 11 a.m. Thursday, the Gainesville Times reported.
An ICE spokesman confirmed there was "no worksite enforcement action at chicken plants in Georgia today" and the Hall County Sheriff’s Office said they had also not received requests for assistance, the newspaper reported.
According to News34 Atlanta, at least 200 people had walked out of plants in Gainesville by 11 a.m. Thursday. The news outlet reported the rumors started at 8 a.m.

"I don’t know if I trust the market to not collapse soon," Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi said. "Plus, with the sheer volume of hardwood floors he’s talking, we’d basically have to deforest all of Brazil."
Trump is undaunted, though, and was last seen at his local credit union applying for a loan pre-approval so he’ll be ready to buy Greenland from "Norway or Finland or whatever."

[Washington Examiner] CNN host and analyst Chris Cillizza criticized the 1867 purchase of Alaska by the United States in a Friday opinion article detailing the potential problems if the U.S. pursued the purchase of Greenland.
"One of the last times the United States bought land from a foreign country was in 1867, when Seward orchestrated the purchase of Alaska from the Russians for $7.2 million," Cillizza wrote. "It didn't work out so well -- and has gone down as 'Seward's Folly' in the history books."
On Friday evening, the language of the article was adjusted to remove the sentence, "It didn't work out so well." The new version stated that the purchase of Alaska was "heavily criticized."

[AnNahar] An Israeli reconnaissance drone on Friday caused a fire that blew up several landmines on the Lebanese-Israeli border, Leb’s National News Agency said.
The drone "dropped flammable material over several points on the border, triggering a huge blaze along the border opposite the al-Abbad military post that faces the Marjeyoun town of Houla," NNA said, adding that the flames have spread into Israel.

He has been called an authority on comparative religion and the most influential Salafi ideologue in India, though usually by himself. Before becoming a public speaker, he trained as a physician. He is currently holed up in Malaysia, where he's not banned... for questioning after he allegedly made racially sensitive remarks in the multi-ethnic nation, the government said on Thursday.
The move comes after several ministers demanded Naik’s expulsion on Wednesday after he said Hindus in Malaysia had "100 times more rights" than the Moslem minority in India.
Naik, who has lived in Malaysia for about three years and faces charges of money laundering and hate speech in India, has come under fire for comments allegedly pitting the country’s ethnic and religious minorities against the ethnic Malay majority, who are predominantly Moslem.
Police would question Naik and several other individuals and groups for making "racially-tinged statements" and for spreading false news that affected public sensitivities, Home Minister Muhyiddin Yassin said.
"I would like to remind all parties, including non-citizens, that enforcement agencies under my ministry will not think twice to take legal action against anyone who attempts to threaten public harmony and peace," Muhyiddin said in a statement.
Asked for comment, a representative for Naik said he would first need to study the minister’s statement.
Race and religion are sensitive issues in Malaysia, where Malay Moslems make up about 60 per cent of a population of 32 million. The rest are mostly ethnic Chinese and Indians, most of whom are Hindus.
Naik, who has repeatedly denied the charges against him in India, has said his detractors were quoting him out of context to malign him.
State news agency Bernama quoted Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad as saying this week that Naik could not be sent back to India because of fears for his safety.
"If any (other) country wants to have him, they are welcome," Mahathir added.
India banned Naik’s Islamic Research Foundation in late 2016, accusing him of encouraging and aiding its followers to "promote or attempt to promote feelings of enmity, hatred or ill-will between different religious communities and groups".

Jackson Lee warned that without these investments that will enable organizations, like faith-based groups, "to be able to get into the lives of these individuals," America will wind up with more dead parishioners and more people "whose lives are turned upside down" by white supremacists like the El Paso shooter.
[Rudaw] Farms and orchards went up in flames today as Ottoman Turkish jets struck apparent Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) positions in the Kurdistan Region’s border area.
"Ottoman Turkish warplanes flew over the areas at 9:35 am and bombarded the villages of Qirnata and Pshtashan, as well as Bermta mountain," Nahro Abdullah, administrator of Sangasar sub-district in the Sulaimani province, told Rudaw.
The jets also hit the villages of Sarda, Bermta, Sargali, Qalatukan and Gali Badran about an hour later. There were no casualties in the towns in the northeast Kurdistan Region near the Ottoman Turkish border, according to Abdullah.
The Ottoman Turkish defence ministry confirmed its Arclight airstrike ...KABOOM!... s targeted alleged PKK positions in the Kurdistan Region.
"In coordination with Operation Claw, the PKK terrorists’ weapon caches and shelters were targeted through airstrikes in northern Iraq’s Zap, Gara, Qandil and Asos regions," read a statement from the ministry.
The airstrikes are part of The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...Qatar's satrapy in Asia Minor... ’s Operation Claw against PKK fighters in the Kurdistan Region’s border area with Turkey. Turkey launched the second phase of the operation on July 12, and it includes operations in the Khakurk area where the villages hit Friday are.
Thursday marked the 35th anniversary of the first conflict between the PKK and Ottoman Turkish Army. Over 40,000 people from both sides and civilians have died since 1984.
The PKK conducted a number of operations inside Turkey on Thursday in memory of the decades-long festivities, claiming the death of 10 Ottoman Turkish soldiers, according to the PKK-affiliated ANF news outlet. Turkey has not confirmed the casualties.
The PKK also confirmed that Turkey struck targets in the Khakurk and Zap areas.
Turkey claims to have "neutralized" hundreds of PKK fighters in its fresh operations since starting Operation Claw in late May, but the PKK denies this.
Turkey uses the term "neutralized" to denote captured, maimed, or killed.
CALL FOR PEACE
Imprisoned PKK leader Abdullah Ocalan said Turkey’s operations will not bring about peace.
"The operation means war. This issue is not one that could be resolved through bloodshed," ANF reported Ocalan as saying.
The PKK founder met with his brother Mehmet Ocalan on Monday. In detention for more than 20 years, Ocalan has rarely been allowed to see lawyers or family members. This is his third meeting with Mehmet since 2016.
Ocalan transmitted his comments on issues in the region through his brother. He called for peace in relation to the Turkey-PKK conflict.
Regarding Ottoman Turkish operation in Kurdistan Region, the PKK leader said that this will not resolve issues, calling for peaceful means.
"We are always there for peace. We will always stand against war," Ocalan reportedly told ANF through his brother. "There must be peace against war."

[Guns America Digest] Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris launched a new plan this week to combat "violent hate" across America.
At the center of the plan is a red-flag-law-type-scheme called "domestic terrorism prevention orders" that enable authorities to seize firearms from a "suspected terrorist" or an "individual who may imminently perpetrate a hate crime," according to KamalaHarris.org.
"We need to take action to keep guns out of the hands of dangerous people and stop violent, hate-fueled attacks before they happen," Harris told USA Today. "By focusing on confronting these domestic terror threats, we can save lives."
Authorities, under existing law, already have the capacity to monitor suspected terrorists (they can even put them on an extraconstitutional watchlist) and apprehend or involuntarily commit individuals who are truly a threat to themselves or others. Which means that just like red flag laws, domestic terrorism prevention orders are a redundancy if the intent is to monitor, commit or detain credible threats to public safety.
But that’s not what Harris is actually trying to accomplish. Undermining due process to seize firearms from citizens who reject her progressive agenda is the goal. Basically, Harris wants to disarm her opposition.

[NBCNEWS] A Phoenix father is facing second degree murder charges for allegedly killing a man who allegedly harassed his young daughter.
Police say Melvin Harris, 40, admitted to beating Leon Armstrong, 26, to death after he attempted to break into the teenage girl's stall at a QuikTrip convenience store bathroom.
Harris was waiting for his daughter and her two friends in the store’s parking lot when Armstrong approached his car asking for money. Harris gave him change, then Armstrong walked into the convenience store, police said
Soon after, Harris' daughter and her friends came out of the store and said the man had harassed them, according to a police report.
Harris then went to the store and demanded that a security guard take action ‐ or else he’d take matters into his own hands, police said.
Upon leaving the store, witnesses reported seeing Harris approach Armstrong, whom he then punched in the face, police said. Armstrong fell to the ground and Harris proceeded to stomp, kick and punch him until he was unconscious before driving off, police said.

[DAWN] A young married woman fell victim to ’honour killing’ in the Gulberg area, police said on Thursday.
Area SHO Rafay Tanoli said the suspect, Javed, had attacked his wife, Khalida Bibi, 25, with a hard and blunt weapon in Block-13 of FB Area on Tuesday and fled.
She was taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where she died during treatment on Thursday.
The SHO said the victim worked as a domestic servant in the area while her husband was jobless.
The murder appeared to be linked with so-called honour, said Mr Tanoli.

I’m sure many of my fellow professors would disagree with my actions. In fact, many would probably brand me as a traitor to academia for admitting such a thing. For them, it is inconceivable that a member of the intelligentsia ‐ an ethics professor, of all people ‐ could support the right to carry a so-called instrument of death.
So in what follows, let me make the moral case for campus carry. Those wanting a more rigorous statement of my argument may be interested in reading one of my academic journal articles on the topic.
THE MORAL CASE FOR CAMPUS CARRY
Campus carry is simply an extension of our natural right of self-defense. Our right to life follows us wherever we go, so the right to defend our lives must also accompany us. Whether I am at home, in my car, at work, or in the classroom, I possess the absolute and unrelenting right to defend myself against unjust aggression. Because firearms enhance that right, there exists a strong presumption in favor of being allowed to own and carry a firearm as I go about my daily business.
That presumption may sometimes be overcome (such as in courthouses, prisons, or airports), but only if the government assumes the special responsibility of protecting those citizens whom it disarms through the coercive power of the law. In other words, if the government is going to tell us we can’t carry guns in a specific area, thus impairing our ability to defend ourselves, it must assume a special responsibility to protect us. It must serve the function our guns would provide had we been allowed to carry them.
An analogy might help illustrate this point. Suppose I push you into deep water as part of a swimming lesson. Because I have intentionally put you into a position of increased vulnerability, I owe it to you to make sure you do not drown. Likewise, if the government requires us to disarm ourselves before entering a specific area, it knowingly puts us in a position of increased vulnerability. It must therefore assume the special responsibility of making up for the gap it has created by increasing protective measures.
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) ‐ A New York couple’s luxurious vacation house in Florida has been taken over by dozens of black vultures that are vomiting and defecating everywhere.
The Palm Beach Post reports the Casimano family can’t even visit the $702,000 home they purchased earlier this year in the Ibis Golf and Country Club.
Siobhan Casimano described the smell as "like a thousand rotting corpses." The vultures have destroyed screen enclosures and have overtaken the pool and barbecue. The few times the family has visited, they’ve had to park their car in the garage to avoid the birds pecking at them with their beaks.
A neighbor, Cheryl Katz, tells the Post she’s got it even worse because she lives next door to a person who is feeding the vultures and other wildlife. In May, she said vultures tore through her pool enclosure and couldn’t figure out how to get out.
"Imagine 20 vultures trapped, biting each other ‐ and they can bite through bones," she said. "They would bang against my windows running away from a bird that was attacking them. Blood was everywhere. It was a vile, vicious, traumatic event. And it was Memorial Day, so no company I called would come out to help me."

[DAWN] Rawalpindi police have arrested a married couple on the suspicion of kidnapping, raping and filming a female student of the Allama Iqbal Open University, City Police Officer (CPO) Faisal Rana said on Friday.

Rana said that the City cop shoppe had filed a first information report (FIR) against the suspects on August 3 after the student approached the police with her complaint.
According to the victim, she was kidnapped from outside Gordon College ‐ where she had gone to attend a workshop ‐ by a woman who pretended to be a fellow student.
According to the FIR, the woman had said that her 'brother' was coming to pick her up and offered the victim a lift. After a few minutes, a man arrived in a grey car and the woman pushed the victim inside the vehicle and put a knife to her throat to silence her.
The complainant said that her kidnappers took her to a house in Rawalpindi's Gulistan Colony where the man raped her while the woman took pictures and recorded videos. The alleged perpetrators threatened the victim of dire consequences if she decided to approach authorities. According to the FIR, the man dropped her at Tipu Road at night.
The Rawalpindi CPO told DawnNewsTV on Friday that the suspects were later found to be not siblings, but a married couple.
He stated that the two had also admitted to have kidnapped, raped and filmed about 45 other women. They had also admitted to have sold the videos and photos to an international porn website, Rana said. He added that the police had recovered multiple photos and videos of other victims as well.
[AMERICANTHINKER] Judicial Watch announced today that a federal court has ordered the State of Maryland to produce voter list data for Montgomery County, the state’s biggest county. The court ruling comes in the Judicial Watch lawsuit filed July 18, 2017, against Montgomery County and the Maryland State Boards of Elections under the National Voter Registration Act of 1993 (NVRA).
The lawsuit was filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland, Baltimore Division (Judicial Watch vs. Linda H. Lamone, et al. (No. 1:17-cv-02006)). The decision follows NVRA-related Judicial Watch successes in Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party, and Kentucky that could lead to removal of up to 1.85 million inactive voters from voter registration lists. The NVRA requires states to take reasonable steps to clean up its voting rolls and to make documents about its voter list maintenance practices available to anyone who asks.
Judicial Watch had sought the Maryland voter list data after discovering that there were more registered voters in Montgomery County than citizens over the age of 18 who could register. U.S. District Court Judge Ellen Lipton Hollander rejected Maryland’s objections to providing the voter list information under Section 8(i) of the National Voter Registration Act:

The director of Hadassah, prof. Yoram Weiss said Nahum was in surgery fighting for his life, with a skull fracture and a brain injury.
Doctors at Shaare Zedek said Noam was conscious, but suffering from injuries to her limbs.
The car rolled over after the attack, and when the suspected attacker tried to emerge from it, he was rubbed out by police at the scene, reports said.
Etzion Regional Council head Shlomo Ne’eman said the incident "looks like a terror attack" despite the fact that the car bore Israeli license plates.
Israel Radio said the car appeared to have been a stolen vehicle.

When an intel agent discovered the copying to a third-party account, he said Peter Strzok seemed disinterested. The intel agency feared the email account could be a link to a foreign power, but the FBI refused to explain it to them.

[Jpost] A leading Kenyan narco, Baktash Akasha, was sentenced to 25 years in prison by a U.S. judge on Friday after he pleaded guilty last year to conspiracy to import heroin and methamphetamine and other crimes.
U.S. District Judge Victor Marrero in Manhattan sentenced Akasha, 42, who U.S. prosecutors have described as the leader of the Akasha organization, a major smuggling operation connecting the poppy fields of Afghanistan to Europe ...the land mass occupying the space between the English Channel and the Urals, also known as Moslem Lebensraum... an and U.S. cities.
His brother, Ibrahim Akasha, has also pleaded guilty in the case and is scheduled to be sentenced by the same judge in November.
George Goltzer, Akasha's lawyer, said after the sentence that the judge had been "very thoughtful" but declined to comment further.
The case stemmed from a U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration probe into the Akasha organization, leading to the extradition of the brothers to the United States from Kenya in January 2017 along with Gulam Hussein, a Pak national charged with heading a drug transportation network, and Vijaygiri Goswami, an Indian businessman accused of managing the organization's drug business.
The four defendants were arrested in Mombasa, Kenya, in November 2014 in a U.S.-led sting operation, in which authorities said the Akasha organization provided 99 kilograms (218 lb) of heroin and two kilograms of methamphetamine to DEA informants posing as narcos.
A fifth defendant accused of working with the Akasha organization, Muhammad Asif Hafeez, was arrested in London in August 2017. The United States has requested his extradition.
The Akasha family has been involved in the drug trade for years, according to U.S. diplomatic cables published by WikiLeaks. The Satao Project, a private company focused on fighting poaching, has said the Akasha network was also linked to around 30 tons of ivory seizures.

In a letter circulated to all its television and radio licencees on Wednesday, the authority recalled that it had withdrawn permission for airing Indian channels and content on the Supreme Court’s directive in October last year.
"However, it's easy to be generous with someone else's money... it has been observed that advertisements of various products of multi-nationals, which are either produced in India or carry Indian characters, are being aired on electronic media," said the letter posted on Pemra’s Twitter account.

"We built our newsroom to cover one story, and we did it truly well," Baquet said. "Now we have to regroup, and shift resources and emphasis to take on a different story."
Baquet made the remarks at an employee town hall Monday. A recording was leaked to Slate, which published a transcript Thursday.
In the beginning of the Trump administration, the Times geared up to cover the Russia affair, Baquet explained. "Chapter 1 of the story of Donald Trump ...dictatorial for repealing some (but not all) of the diktats of his predecessor, misogynistic because he likes pretty girls, homophobic because he doesn't think gender bending should be mandatory, truly a man for all seasons...... , not only for our newsroom but, frankly, for our readers, was: Did Donald Trump have untoward relationships with the Russians, and was there obstruction of justice? That was a really hard story, by the way, let's not forget that. We set ourselves up to cover that story. I'm going to say it. We won two Pulitzer Prizes covering that story. And I think we covered that story better than anybody else."
But then came the Mueller report, with special counsel Robert Mueller failing to establish that the Trump campaign conspired or coordinated with Russia to fix the 2016 election. "The day Bob Mueller walked off that witness stand, two things happened," Baquet continued. "Our readers who want Donald Trump to go away suddenly thought, 'Holy shit, Bob Mueller is not going to do it.' And Donald Trump got a little emboldened politically, I think. Because, you know, for obvious reasons. And I think that the story changed. A lot of the stuff we're talking about started to emerge like six or seven weeks ago. We're a little tiny bit flat-footed. I mean, that's what happens when a story looks a certain way for two years. Right?"
Baquet used the gentlest terms possible ‐ "the story changed" ‐ but the fact is, the conspiracy-coordination allegation the Times had devoted itself to pursuing turned out to be false. Beyond that, Democrats on Capitol Hill struggled to press an obstruction case against the president. The Trump-Russia hole came up dry.
Now, Baquet continued, "I think that we've got to change." The Times must "write more deeply about the country, race, and other divisions."
"I mean, the vision for coverage for the next two years is what I talked about earlier: How do we cover a guy who makes these kinds of remarks?" Baquet said. "How do we cover the world's reaction to him? How do we do that while continuing to cover his policies? How do we cover America, that's become so divided by Donald Trump?"
The town hall was spurred by angry reaction, both inside and outside the Times, to a headline that many on the Left faulted for being insufficiently anti-Trump. After the El Paso shootings, when the president denounced white supremacy, the Times published a page-one story with the heading, "Trump Urges Unity Vs. Racism."

Doesn't that leaked video constitute evidence, even confession of slander/conspiracy/malfeasance/whatever covers it ?
Can't Trump initiate public action against the NYT on that ? I'm sure the president retains his rights as a common citizen too. Can't he just sue them if nothing else ?

An attack on the NYT would be, IMHO, a mistake.
We know that Trump has been demonized by the media for his attitude toward them and the entire scummy MSM would gang up on this one issue for the rest of the election.
