Local animal activists are trying their best to draw attention to what is happening. According to volunteer Yana Kucherenko, more than 50 horses have already died. Since April 29, activists have been on duty at the stud farm, recording what is happening. In particular, they noticed that the management of the stud farm tried to burn several animal corpses, which is prohibited by environmental legislation. In this case, live horses are locked in a barn without food or water, apparently waiting for them to die.

Animal rights activists report that SPKA PKZ “Stavropolsky” is owned by a native of Syria, Majid Hammoud Adel. He has Russian citizenship. The man owns three agricultural enterprises in the Alexandrovsky district of the Stavropol Territory, which are engaged in growing grain - more than 50 thousand hectares of farmland.

In 2016, Stavropolsky was already at the center of a loud scandal. Then, at the stud farm, horses also died en masse from exhaustion. The entire staff was fired, and local residents sneaked into the enterprise at night to feed and water the emaciated animals. The conflict reached its peak when the owners of the stud farm were planning to demolish the stables with the animals inside, but volunteers stood in front of the equipment as a human chain and prevented this from happening.

Then we managed to agree on the “preservation of animals.” But eight years passed, and the situation repeated itself.

HORSES ARE “AN INTEGRAL PART OF THE LAND”
Nowadays, the territory of Stavropolsky also houses horses of the Terek breed, which is very rare. There are no more than 300 representatives of this species left in Russia, says IA Regnum, the organizer of the initiative group of volunteers, breeder Tamara Kalashnikova. Most of these 300 are at Majid Hammoud Adel's stud farm.

“If we lose this stud farm, the breed will disappear. She will no longer get divorced and will not be able to be reborn in the event of a sad outcome,” Kalashnikova explained.

The Terek breed was bred by order of Marshal Semyon Budyonny. The “improved” horses were planned to be used in recruiting the cavalry of the Red Army. It was on a horse of this breed that Marshal Georgy Zhukov took part in the Victory Parade on June 24, 1945.
Semyon Budyonny was a cavalryman by trade.
It is impossible to buy unique horses from Stavropolsky, since they are specified in the sales contract as an “integral part of the land.” The owner does not sell the livestock, since land is allocated for each horse, which he sows with grain. An extremely cruel business.

At the same time, at the end of April, when volunteers drew attention to the problem, some animals were released to graze in the field. The problem is, notes Tamara Kalashnikova, that such “urgent fattening” can lead to the death of animals.

The consequences can be seen in the video that the volunteer published on her network pages.

“One mare almost died. And at the stud farm there are no drugs to help the animals. We went to the pharmacy and called the veterinarians. They pumped the mare out around twelve at night and fought for her life for three hours. She’s still alive, ” the interlocutor told IA Regnum.

Volunteers are confident that nationalization and inclusion in the list of specially protected species can save animals.

“So that the state takes them under strict supervision, and this person (the owner of the stud farm) is removed from them. It is also important that the herd remains united, so that it is not divided into separate groups,” Kalashnikova emphasizes.

Representatives of Rosselkhoznadzor came to the stud farm the day before and conducted an inspection. It has been officially confirmed that the animals are suffering from malnutrition, and the stalls (stalls in a stable for one horse) are in terrible condition.

“On the day of departure, no horse corpses were found on the territory of the enterprise. There is a shortage of feed at the enterprise, the animals are exhausted,” the department noted.

On May 2, it became known that a criminal case had been opened regarding cruelty to animals, and the regional Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation organized a procedural check. The head of the Investigative Committee of Russia, Alexander Bastrykin, ordered a report on the situation.

The owner of the stud farm did not respond to calls and messages from IA Regnum.

“THE HORSE SPUN THE CARBINE ITSELF AND RAN AWAY”
Animals also found themselves in a difficult situation for horses in the village of Gorki near Moscow - in the Yulanta equestrian club, reported IA Regnum Evgenia Voinova, owner of the Oryol champion trotter Milord. The woman left her horse to rest in the club. Yulanta is run by husband and wife, Yulia and Anton Fedulov. It is important that the couple does not have the appropriate education or sports training.

“I noticed some disadvantages right away, but not all of them. In some places, the stables were being completed, a power line runs over the parade ground, and construction waste is scattered throughout the area.

But I believed the promises of the owners, hoped for normal relations and their interest in their project. I immediately asked Yulia Fedulova to conclude an agreement, but she refused,” said Evgenia Voinova.

She was wary, but decided to try anyway - she left Milord at Yulanta. I quickly regretted it. It turned out that there is no ventilation in the stalls, there is a motorcycle club adjacent to the territory, from which gasoline fumes are constantly flying, and the stalls are regularly flooded - the pipes are worn out. In winter, the club has heating problems; animals are actually left in the refrigerator. It gets to the point where the water in the drinking bowls freezes.

There is no fence around the stable - a horse that gets loose can easily run away.

“Last winter, the rope to which the horse was tied in a small field opposite the stable froze. The horse was left without walking for weeks, and no one even told me,” recalls Evgenia Voinova.

The icing on the cake, she continues, was the groom’s statement that in winter he does not bring the horse from the field to water between feedings: if the horse wants to drink, he will simply eat snow. In general, the animals were fed very poorly - there was no talk of any normal regime, the girl adds. In winter they could bring rotten hay.

Once arriving at the club, Voinova noticed that Milord had lost a lot of weight: from a gorgeous trotter he had turned into an exhausted animal, literally throwing himself at food. The girl decided to find out how and what they feed the animals. I found a bucket of steamed porridge, supposedly designed for 38 heads. Normally it should weigh 76 kilograms. But weighing showed that there was only 800 grams of feed per animal - the norm for a foal.

“I did not receive any clear explanations. The groom understood Russian speech poorly, and when he said “the horse (a device for feeding) should weigh 2 kilograms,” he completely passed out. Maybe the owners are saving money this way or consider it the norm to feed “by eye”, pouring out portions with a mayonnaise bucket... Most likely, it’s both,” says Voinova.

The last straw for her was that they tried to hide his injury from the trotter’s owner. Arriving at the arena, she saw that the horse was very lame. I interviewed the trainers and grooms - no one saw or knows anything. I called Anton Fedulov: he reported that the horse had run away from the field, rushed into the stable area, where local dogs were chasing him - “he hit himself there.”

“Fedulov blamed... the horse for what happened. He allegedly untwisted the carabiner himself, which not every girl can open, and injured himself. I understand that the groom simply did not tighten the thread, and the horse was injured, apparently, by running into construction debris, boards and pieces of reinforcement,” says Voinova.

The veterinarian diagnosed Milord with a severe bruise - a month and a half of recovery procedures. Naturally, at the expense of the trotter's owner.

Moreover, this was far from the only injury to the animal in Yulanta. A little earlier, another horse smashed its head on the bars of the stall door when the groom swung a shovel at him. Of course, the animal was blamed.

However, you won’t find such stories on the equestrian club’s website or on its social networks, Evgenia Voinova emphasizes: all negative reviews are quickly deleted.

Another former client of Yulanta, Elena Guzanova, told IA Regnum that she first learned about this club about five years ago. Friends recommended it: they said there were good conditions for animals and reasonable prices. But over the years the situation has worsened. At the same time, the owners are extremely reluctant to contact clients.

“The problem is that in the south of Moscow there are practically no budget equestrian clubs, so we have to leave animals where possible,” admits Guzanova.

“IT IS LEGALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO CONCLUDE AN AGREEMENT”
In Yulanta itself, Regnum news agency confirmed that pipes had burst in the club, the repairs took quite a long time - because of this, there were problems in the winter.

Responding to a complaint regarding horse nutrition, an employee of the equestrian club stated that all norms are calculated very clearly, and the owner of the animal himself writes on the stall how much feed to give. One harets, explains the Yulanta representative, is equal to approximately 800 grams.

“If they write two hartz, we’ll give two. If they write one, we’ll send as many,” says the girl.

They really don’t sign contracts with clients at the club.

"What for?" — the Yulanta employee was surprised, adding that they are registered as individual entrepreneurs, so “it is legally impossible to conclude an agreement.”

That is, the club management does not bear any responsibility.

In “Yulanta” they remember the story of the horse Milord and his owner Evgenia Voinova. The animal, a company employee said, was practically not taken out for walks because “everyone was afraid of it.” At the same time, the correspondent of IA Regnum managed to ride on Milord: the horse seemed calm and friendly, he really loves apples.

“Concerning the claims from the client, I can only say that people are different. Some people have problems with their heads. There is no evidence of what she is saying,” said the Yulanta employee.

She also invited everyone to come and see for themselves the conditions in which the animals are kept. At the same time, they promised to remove construction waste from the territory.
