Three members of Levies Force injured in blast

[DAWN] Three members of the Levies Force were maimed in a landmine blast in Dera Bugti on Tuesday.

Officials of the Levies Force said three members of the force were travelling on a cycle of violence that hit a landmine in Shamsar area of Dera Bugti. The landmine blast left the three men injured.

Security personnel rushed to the area of the blast and took the injured to the district hospital.

The condition of one of them is stated to be serious. They are Nasar Din Shambani Bugti, Nabi Khan Shambani Bugti and Sultan Shambani Bugti. They were later taken to Rahimyar Khan for treatment.

3 tribesmen killed, 2 injured by unknown attackers in Balochistan

's Dera Bugti district on Sunday, Levies sources told DawnNewsTV.

The attack was carried out at 3am, after which the assailants expeditiously departed at a goodly pace, security forces said.

The dead were identified as Tahir Shambani, Ghulam Sharif Shambani and Pir Bakhsh Shambani, while Rezakh Shambani and Hafizullah Shambani were maimed. The victims belong to the Shambani tribe.

The attack was strongly condemned by former home minister Sarfaraz Bugti, who demanded that the culprits be caught at the earliest. A search operation has been launched to find the miscreants.

during an intelligence-based operation (IBO), an Inter-Services Public Relations blurb said on Friday.

The IBOs, part of Operation Raddul Fasaad, were carried out in Uch, Dera Bugti, Gulistan and Dera Murad Jamali areas.

The FC also recovered improvised bombs (IED), grenades, ammunition as well as 46 kilogrammes of explosives.

In a separate operation, forces found a cycle of violence rigged with IEDs in Dera Murad Jamali. The explosives were defused by security personnel.

According to a statement issued by the military's media wing from Rawalpindi, one FC soldier sustained minor injuries during the exchange of fire with the suspects.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) claimed that the killed suspects were allegedly involved in extortion, kidnapping for ransom, attacks on security forces and other sabotage activities.

During the operation, terrorist camps were dismantled, while improvised bombs and communication equipment were also recovered, ISPR reported.

434 militants surrender in Balochistan

As part of political reconciliation in Balochistan, 434 militants surrendered to the authorities on Friday evening.

The militants belonged to various banned organisations, including Baloch Republican Army (BRA), Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) and other groups. The militants were allegedly involved in attacks on government installations in Quetta, Dera Bugti, Sui and other parts of the province.

“Innocent people have been used and elements instigating them were living abroad,” said Chief Minister Balochistan Nawab Sanaullah Zehri.

“Innocent people were martyred at the behest of elements who are the slaves of RAW and no compromise would be made over the writ of the government,” added the chief minister.

Commander Southern Command Lieutenant General Amir Riaz on the occasion said that Pakistan cannot be weakened.

“Anyone laying down their arms would be welcomed,” added Riaz.

“We were deceived,” said Sher Mohammad, a key commander of the proscribed BLA, while Dur Khan Baloch, another key commander, said they will “no longer fight for the Indians”.

A senior provincial official said so far over 1500 militants have surrendered.

“More Ferraris would surrender before the authorities in the days to come, said Balochistan government spokesperson Anwarul Haq Kakar.

The surrender ceremony was attended by senior military and civilians leaders.

The largest province of the country by area, is home to a low-level insurgency by ethnic Baloch separatists. Al Qaeda-linked militants also operate in the region.

The province shares borders with Afghanistan and Iran.

4 militants die in gunfight in Balochistan

Security forces on Wednesday claimed to have killed four suspected militants during an exchange of fire in Balochistan's Dera Bugti district.

Inter-Services Public Service Relations (ISPR) claimed in a statement that security forces also demolished four sanctuaries being allegedly used by the suspects during the action.

The killed suspects were said to be associated with an outlawed organisation operating in the area.

Security forces also claimed to have recovered huge cache of arms and ammunition from possession of the suspects.

The deceased were allegedly involved in attacks on security forces and vital national installations in the area, claimed ISPR.

Over 20 ‘militants’ lay down arms

[DAWN] QUETTA: Three suspected commanders of a banned militant group laid down their arms on Saturday along with their 21 associates in the Sui area of Dera Bugti district and announced that they were abandoning their armed struggle and joining the mainstream.

According to officials, the banned Baloch Republican Army (BRA) ‘commanders’ Wali Hotkani, Abdul Qadir and Imam Bakhsh handed over their weapons along with the other militants to Frontier Corps officers at a ceremony held in Sui town.

Officials, a large number of tribal elders and other people attended the ceremony.

“We have decided to abandon the armed struggle and join the mainstream to serve our people who have been facing great difficulties for a long time,” Imam Bakhsh said, adding that his group had long been operating in the area.

(FC) and intelligence had launched a search operation on a tip-off about the presence of Death Eaters in Uch.

They said that armed Death Eaters opened fire on the security forces from their hideouts using automatic weapons. The security forces immediately returned fire.

"A heavy exchange of fire continued for at least two hours in which four Death Eaters were killed," said a security official, adding that during the operation five Death Eaters were also taken into custody.

The officials claimed that nine hideouts of the Death Eaters were demolished during the search operation.

"The Death Eaters belong to a banned outfit which has been involved in attacks on the gas line installations and security forces," official sources claimed.

2 die in Balochistan landmine attack

Two people, riding a motorcycle, were killed by a landline explosion in Balochistan's Dera Bugti district on Monday.

The explosion took place in the Kathan area of the district, said Levies sources.

"Two people riding a motorcycle were killed when the drove over a landmine," said a Levies official.

Both people died on the spot, added the security officials.

"Unknown miscreants had planted the landmine on the roadside to target people travelling on the road," said the Levies official.

Security officials reached the site of the incident and started their investigations. There was no claim of responsibility.

Balochistan has been experiencing incidents of violence and targeted killings for over a decade. The largest province of the country by area, is home to a insurgency by ethnic Baloch separatists.

2 suspected militants die in Balochistan

Security forces on Monday claimed to have killed two suspected militants in Balochistan's Dera Bugti district.

The suspected militants were killed in an exchange of fire in the Sartaf area of Dera Bugti district.

"Frontier Corps forces launched an operation against miscreants in Sartaf area of Dera Bugti district," said the spokesperson for the FC.

He added the security forces also demolished five 'safe havens' being used by the 'miscreants' in the area.

"Security forces also recovered weapons and explosions from the possession of the miscreants and they were involved in attacks on national institutions in the area," added the FC spokesperson.

In a separate search operation, rocket launchers and explosives were recovered from the Sangan area of Sibi district.

2 Kops die in small arms attack in Balochistan

Unidentified gunmen on Tuesday killed two policemen in Naseerabad district area of Balochistan.

“Armed men opened fire at policemen in Dera Murad Jamali area of the district, which killed both personnel on the spot,” said police official.

“Policemen were patrolling on motorcycle when they were attacked by armed militants in the area. Deceased policemen were identified as Essa Khan Bugti and Buland Khan Gola,” police official added.

The assailants escaped unhurt from the spot and no militant group claimed responsibility for the attack.

Security forces on Tuesday evening also claimed to have foiled a major bid of terrorism by demolishing four camps of alleged militants in Balochistan's troubled Dera Bugti district.

“Two suspected militants along with weapons were arrested during the operation, said Spokesman for Frontier Corps (FC) Khan Wasey.

“Two alleged militants belonged to an outlawed Baloch militant organisation operating in the area,” Wasey added.
