#1 SS-N-6 SLB missiles

Been a long time since I played Harpoon, but if memory serves, the 'N' in SS-N-6 stands for 'nuclear'.

Even the possibility of sub-launched nukes makes the usual NORK game of "What Can We Extort Next?" much more interesting.

#3 From the photo at the link, it looks like they only keep the sub's paint refreshed (sort of) above the water line.

Not being a naval guy, don't know if this is SOP or not, but seems somewhat shoddy.

Especially when 'Dear Fat-Boy®' is inspecting the rig.

#5 Anyone can design and build a boat that can submerge.

It takes a fair bit more skill to build one that can remain hidden (be quiet) and surface on command.

#7 Don't be so hard on the boys for only painting the visible part; the USN routinely only paints the starboard side of CVs when coming into port so it looks way cool for the photo ops.

And then there was the time that President Clinton was coming to visit and part of the dress up was to create tie down blank off plates, painted blue and held in place with tool clips. there were about 4000 of them on the flight desk and after Slick Willie left they were all used in a one time Frisbee-like competition: all tossed over the side.....
