#1 Virtual media are killing off Time and CNN; they'd kill off old conservative publications and networks too, if there were any.

#2 CNN dead? Donations to Ahavath Achim in lieu of flowers please.

#3 The Wall Street Journal and Fox News are about the only big ones doing OK.
MSNBC is also a noticeable victim of liberals on Paper news media seems to be dying, newspapers, magazines. Free local shopping papers seem to hanging on. With the proliferation of smart phones that can access the internet I don't know how long they can keep sufficient market share? It's kind of weird people who can't afford a car, who can only get part time work will sacrifice to get not only a cell phone but a smart phone. It becomes not only their only phone but their entertainment center.

#5 I only wish the rest of us didn't have to cope with the necrotic products.

#6 Wrapping fish, birdcage lining, floor lining when you are painting, mosquito killer, emergency toilet paper. There are so many things you can do with a newspaper and can't do with a cell phone I am still wondering how could anyone use electronic media instead of good old New York Times.

#8 Thank you, Bright Pebbles. I wonder if I could learn to do that without becoming a master programmer?

#10 The Boston Globe was sold to the New York Times for $1.2 billion back in the early 1990's. John Henry (of the Boston Red Sox) bought the Globe from the NYT for $70 million last year. The real estate where the Globe sits is worth $40 - 50 million.

#11 Any ideas of what CNN is worth if you can exclude the airport news feed monopoly?

#12 ...probably the income from the bundling fees that TimeWarner et al gets from the various satellite and cable 'services', same as with MSNBC, plus the innate value of the property they sit on in Atlanta (assuming Ted was smart enough to buy the structure when he owned CNN).

#16 Who would have thought that if you took the roughly equally conservative/liberal nation and had one side cater to the right and a thousand thirty seven cater to the left there would be some kind of disparity in success.

I think some folks need to retake a business course or two.

#17 Property values in that area of Atlanta are a liability, not an asset

I'd bet that's not what their property perspective says which they circulate around Europe and elsewhere (to the same rubes they pawned off all that Fannie Mae mortgage papers before 2007). I hear Chinese are buying a lot of property these days.

#19 "grupo Bimbo Slim": 'BIMBO' bread is a hot selling item down here in Tucson. Every major supermarket has at least 2 aisles dedicated to Hispanic food. We also have "El Super" supermarkets selling strictly Hispanic brands. (Its owned by a USA corp. - 'Kroger' but this is hushed up... :))
