Yes. And a USA grand national strategic conception/goal would develop a USA/Russia/India alliance to pound caliphists and theocrats (Sunnis and Shi'ia) everywhere into early, high-profile unconditional surrender, starting with annihilation (literally) of the engine of the error of their ways: their clergy and scholars.

#5 I agree.
As a local story, if it weren't for Russia's quick and steadfast response to one of its allies, ISJV could have swept the Assad government. As it was, it sure read close anyways. Russia stood steadfast with Syria even through the chemical weapons deal and when threatened with airstrikes.
