#2 My gut instinct suggests he's illegal or has illegals staying in his home and wanted to avoid all the attention. Probably watched MSNBC and thought Trump might eat him or something. Sort of like Joe Dirt spilling the beans by accident and exposing Christopher Walken.

#6 I am in that group who has strong suspicion that there is much more to this story, and it is possible that Campos is a part of that. But the lack of formal LE effort to find him or support the idea that he is missing says that they know where he is. My guess is that the interviews were stopped by panicked attorneys who see the wave of lawsuit coming and don't want his testimony out there before "trial prep". He is sequestered somewhere and very comfortable I suspect.
