#2 This seems like defining "Pi = 3.14" type oddness. A 12-gauge solid slug would be larger than .50 caliber. There are also the black powder era replicas and big bore nitro-express hunting rifles. Odd, very odd...

#3 A lot of states do not allow rifles for deer hunting and require rifled slug shotguns or muzzleloaders which are typically in the .50-.775 caliber range.

Many of these states have moderate to severe deer overpopulation problems and if this sort of law passed would be limited to bowhunting only which would not allow for proper management.

I would also point out that rifle rounds like my 7 mm Rem Mag or my .280 Rem are way more damaging and powerful than my slug gun or blackpowder gun ever can be.

There is no logic to this sort of regulation, outside of a war of attrition attempting to ban all guns, one class at a time.

#4 Some years back, they tried to have ALL ammunition stamped with it's own individual serial number.
That stupidity got Bitchslapped down too.
They're out for CONTROL, nothing Honest about it.

When Obama decides to secure our borders and stops killing our military weapons programs, he can have anything over 50 caliber. But that won't happen.

#9 This ATF move is another attempt by the socialist/communist rulers still remaining in power to pick up or make useless firearms in private possession. There are 50 caliber (BMG)matches monthly at most ranges that have enough distance to warrant competition. The problem is shooting a 50BMG is expensive and so are the rifles. Because of this the 50BMG is owned by a small number of shooters. Many shooters will not protest because they don't own a 50 or intend to buy one. The ATF is aware this move is only attacking this small group of shooters hoping the rest will not protest. It's kind of like the preditors in nature pushing the herd and attacking the prey that is on the perimiter. The ATF does not just want the 50BMG rifles, they want all the firearms eventually.

That small group would have the capability to do the most damage to anyone going after those with small caliber pea shooters.
