#1 Caught between the stone and a hard place.

#2 If they do execute him, they may have to deal with us deserting them by our thousands, too. Islam triumphalist unto death is what we're fighting against, after all.

#3 Perfect graphic ... unfortunately.

#4 Well, I'm torn between making fun of Islam and a furious rage at the quandry this man is in.

If Karzai does not immediately put an end to this and rescue him, then that puts any and all qualms I have about treating Islam as a diseased ideology to rest. Forever. As well as knocking Karzai down to Musharraf's level - a mere powerless figurehead of an insane society, worthy of nothing from us.

Thany you Anonymoose. We should watch for follow-ups on this.

#5 "The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the Valley of Darkness; for he is truly his brother's keeper, and the finder of lost children. And, I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers! And, you will know my name is The Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee!"
- Jules Winnfield (Quentin Tarantino) and some guy name Ezekiel.

#6 The stakes are so (relatively) low, this has the potential to becoem another comic book outrage. The nice thing about Islam is that no matter what happens some will die.

#7 Interesting take, if I understand you, Nimble Spemble. I'm not at all sanguine about the man's life being forfeit, however, regardless of any perceived benefit that may derive from his being, for lack of a better word, martyred.

#8 If he is executed his execution, and a full and detailed explanation of *why* the ROP is executing him, should be broadcast worldwide.

Unfortunately the MSM will probably bury the story behind another 'cartoon outrage' or 'farted-in-the-presence-of-the-koran' story...

#9 And we're supposed to apologize to these people about cartoons?

No statements from CAIR about "persecution of Muslims" in U.S. should be entertained until they denounce this abomination and sound like they mean it.

#10 If this man ends up being executed, I would hope that Pope Benedict would have him canonized as a martyr.

#11 This man's premature death will be a tragedy for him and us all. It's relatively low in that we are talking about using nuclear weapons in another thread. And with the wacko mindset over there, if he is executed he dies. If he isn't executed, there will be riots and umpteen will die. It's all about death for them. We need to send them more. Death, that is. Send death till they howl. They need to tire of it. They need more death.

#12 Executing Christians in order to prevent the spread of Christianity has a mixed record of success, even excluding what is arguably the first case.

#13 A huge potential flashpoint. Killing this guy would be no different from killing that poor burka gal. If it happens I'm punting on the benfit of doubt thing and lean towards calling down the clans.

#14 Whats the spread on this ?
I say they execute him. The muzzie world isn't ready for their big about face, therefore it will be decapitation as usual. After all, how dare any mortal turn his back on a scumbag like Allan ?

#15 Afganistan is pointed out as an example of how Muslims can come into the new millenium. Well, Muslim first. Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.

#16 Afghanistan wasn't liberated to give Afghans the freedom to murder a Muslim convert to Christianity. Or so I thought and believed.

The article claims this is a case of first impression in Afghanistan. Perhaps that's true under Karzai's govt. I rather suspect the Taliban notched a few scalps on grounds of apostasy.

If this man is executed for the "sharia crime" of apostasy, then I will have lost all hope our mission can succeed.

#17 If Karzai goes forward with this, I can't mentally justify another taxpayer dollar for the development of Afghanistan. Basically, F**K them and the camel they rode in on. Keep the troops there to keep them in line, but no more money wasted on schools, power plants, water purification, highways, or anything else to pull these barbarians into the 20th century (forget the 21st).

#18 If this goes fwd - not another cent for Islamic society, except in ammunition dispersed. I do not intend to go to my death without fighting. Allan PTUI

#19 The interesting question to me is whether the MSM will cover it.

#20 Maybe thats why Iran's MadMoud claims to have visions while giving speeches - as the third great arm of monotheism, other than alleged talking animals and weird-looking fruit Muslims have no one in HUMAN FORM to lead them or tell them how Islam should be interpreted, or how to become more tolerant of non-Islamic adherents/devotees. The Catholic Church is investigating a Stigmata in England, and even Tibetan Buddhists seek for evermore reincarnations of Buddha - meanwhile, MadMoud andor my old Afghan War friend Osama has yet to display any sign or symptom of "divine" or super extra-normal abilities. Even Madonna and Ann Coulter, Ollie Stone or Pope John Paul 2, Dubya and the GWOT, etal. can claim to be part of someone's visions from the 1960's.
