#2 Why do I imagine that this plane is capable of hauling "either 100 first class and 700 coach passengers" or 1400 "guest workers" who have to surrender their passports before even boarding the plane?

I think 1400 guest workers is a low estimate. That sucker is huge, I think you can move whole villages with it.
