#1 But the newly muscular Republicans in Congress could also stumble by moving too aggressively to handcuff the Environmental Protection Agency, provoking a popular outcry that they are endangering public health in the service of their well-heeled patrons in industry.

Only from the lefty loons and Al Gore. The rest of the country will just be happy that their cost of living went back down.

#2 Karl,

Did you notice this reporter never mentioned that the global warming issue has been discredited and the real data shows we are cooling not warming?

James,

Yes, and the writer just seems to assume the debate is over how to save the planet with no mention of the fraud in the global warming movement.

#3 Assuming my fellow Rantburgians are well read and intelligent, Y'all already know that Volcano's eruptions throw Minute Particles aloft that CAUSE cooling, precipitation(Snow) and shitty (To Humans) weather.

#4 Well, guess we will just have to dig up Yellowstone to prevent an unlicensed eruption.

Fine Alaska, sue Iceland, Indonesia, etc.

Hey, since the Sahara is the largest consistant polluter of particulates can we sue all North Africa, Arabia Pininsula?

#5 There was an article in National Review, I believe, that summed it up, but used some numbers only liberals would accept:

Greenhouse gasses include water vapor (they say 90%, the latest I've read says 94%), Carbon dioxide (the article says 8%, most people agree it's around 5%), and "lesser gasses" - methane, carbon monoxide, nitrous oxide, etc.

Man's contribution is rated at being 3% (range is from 1.6% to 3.3%, but nothing higher than that) of all CO2 in the atmosphere.

Even at the worst, mankind is on the hook for adding 3.3% of 8% (0.26%, or 0.3% rounded) of the current CO2 atmospheric level. A doubling of 20th-century CO2 from 360 parts per million to 720 parts per million would result in a calculated warming of 1.6 degrees Celsius. Mankind's part of that (0.3%) would mean we're responsible for an increase of 0.0048 degrees, or less than half of one-hundredth of one degree Celsius.

The madness doesn't stop there. The effect of CO2 in the atmosphere is logarithmic, not direct. The first 250 parts per million account for something like 94% of all CO2-induced warming. By the time the level reaches our current 380 ppm, that greenhouse gas has already caused 99.9999% of all warming it can. Doubling, tripling or increasing the CO2 level above that point has absolutely NO additional measurable effect on the Earth's warming.

BTW, each time Mount Vesuvius, Etna, the volcanoes in Alaska, Indonesia, Hawaii, and anywhere else erupt, they usually put more greenhouse gasses (CO2, sulfur dioxide, nitrous oxide, etc.) into the atmosphere in a DAY than all the fossil-fuel burning on the whole planet does in a year. There's never a day where there isn't some volcanic activity dumping greenhouse gasses into the atmosphere. De-fund the EPA, fire everyone working for it, and ensure they can't get a job anywhere else in the Federal government. Use excessive stupidity for the reason.

#6 Oops! This:
"of all CO2 in the atmosphere."
should read:
"of all CO2 entering the atmosphere."

My bad.
