#1 I recommend they do this for the sheer entertainment value. Besides, it is good practice for when they will need to do it for real.

#2 TOPIX > [DOng-A = Stanford Univ.]EXPERT: NORTH KOREA SHOULDN'T BE ALLOWED TO TEST MISSLE, or conduct Nuke Tests or dev Centrifuges.

IOW, NO NUCPROG.

ARTIC = Pert says NOKOR ...
> Has EU Facilities in secure locales other than Yongygbon.
> MOre than likely already has NucWeapons.
> Pert fears NOKOR will effec engage in "Miniaturization" of Nuke Warheads, wid worrisome implications. IIUC, IOW NOKOR MAY SELL ITS "MINI-NUKES" OR SMALLER TO NGOS = INTERNAT MILITANT-TERROR GROUPS FOR HARD $$$, WIDOUT CARE FOR CONSEQUENCES.

SUB-IOW, NORTH KOREA = AMBITIOUS "IRAN-STYLE" WANNABE SAVE WID A PRE-EXISTING NUCLEAR FREEZE = NUKES-FOR-FOOD DEAL WID US.

* Also from TOPIX > {Dong-A = ROK] PRESIDENT LEE: US AGREES ON NEED TO WIDEN SOUTH KOREA'S MISSLE RANGE.

The ROK needs to increase its current missle range [max 300-km] by a minima 10X as the DPRK already has BM Sys that do.

versus

* WORLD MIL FORUM > RUSSIAN EXPERTS: NORTH KOREA DOES HAVE THE ABILITY TO PRODUCE [indigenous] INTERCONTINENTAL BALLISTIC MISSLES, as the DPRK has thus far failed to lay out or dev the proper progressive Scientific-Engineering foundations for such.

IOW, NORTH KOREA CANNOT JUST "SKIP" IMPORTANT STEPS IN DEVELOPMENT - read, unless Pyongyang wants to see its Missle Factories + NucPlexes, etc. explode as vee IRAN.

OTOH, the Artic does not support or goes against North Korea receiving mucho outside assistance = "tech transfers" from foreign Powers.

* FYI SAME > USNI STUDY REVEALS CHINA WILL LIKELY EMERGE MIL VICTORIOUS IF A US-CHINA WAR WAS WAGED/CONFINED ONLY TO WITHIN THE "FIRST ISLAND CHAIN" [Coastal areas to Japan-Taiwan-Phil-SCS], US TO WIN IFF US-CHINA WAR WAS EXTENDED TO THE "SECOND ISLAND CHAIN" [Guam-CNMI-WESTPAC] OR "THIRD ISLAND CHAINS" [Hawaii-Midway-Aleuts]. STUDY'S INFLUENCE ON US DECISION TO RELOCATE MARINE FORCES FROM OKINAWA TO GUAM AND AUSTRALIA ["Second Island Chain"].

#3 IIUC, the US may win or lose either way vee US-VS-CHINA AIR, SEA, SPACE? BATTLES fought in + around the "Second Island Chain". e.g. Guam-CNMI where I'm at.

#4 Think about it. When launching from Cape Canaveral, we launch toward the east. Why? because the surface of the Earth is going pretty fast toward the east. That's why the sun rises there. So rockets launched in an easterly direction can use their speed already provided by the earth's rotation to get to orbital speed or escape velocity. It's a bonus.
Now, what's east of Nork? What's west of Nork? If you were going to put up a satellite, which way would you launch if you wanted to do it efficiently? Riiiight. Over China. Not over Japan.

#5 As per the above Study, iff Guamanians + Netters are wondering how crazy 1960-1970's Guam Taotamonas were is warning how the US may dev LAND or ISLAND DESTROYING/SINKING "EARTHQUAKE/
TECTONIC BOMBS", WELL WONDER NO MORE!

And, iff the USNI in 2012 is any measure, THEY AINT CRAZY. THE GHOSTS KNEW 44-N-COUNTING YARNS AGO.

#6 Apparently this will be a polar orbit, not equatorial from the looks of this expected trajectory.

#7 Should probably have said "orbit".
