Accept the Christ Jesus as The Son of +GOD+ Who was nailed to the Cross to cancel all the sin of accepting believers. Confess (the sins of your past)| Repent (Simply put: change any sinful thought and behavior as you understand it). In simple prayers, ask +GOD+ to help you remember past sins (mistrust of others-this isn't easy) and pray again to be forgiven; which you will be). +GOD+ wants to hear; via our simple, quiet prayers, our humble requests for His Grace.
Pray hard. Pray often. Pray in a quiet place; darkened or well-lit. At the end of your prayer, say, "In Jesus' name, AMEN". Get a Bible and read the New Testament at a pace that is comfortable for you. Bibical resources available on the internet are absolutely astounding!
