#2 Given the journalistic tendency to define any vehicle with armor on it as a "tank", it's likely a significant percentage were were BMPs or BTRs (armored personnel carriers).
Then again, it's reported that Qadaffi had some 1200 tanks in storage; most of them T-55s.
