#1 we will close the entire company if widespread strikes cripple our business
I suspect there are a lot of companies in the same position, just hanging on.

#2 Unions forgot that the relationship with the employer should be a symbiotic one. Not parasitic.

Let them eat ding dongs.

#5 As hard as it is to succeed in business these days, I'm surprised this hasn't been happening more often.

#6 If possible they will use co-pack products. Private label so it looks like the same product.
Driver issues remain. Tractor trailer and van delivery. All they need then is shell warehouse temporary storage. I remember a bread plant in DC of all places on 16th street as I recall. Long gone now. Knock off manufacturer will perhaps target best items after fire sale to grab some market share. These are some of the industries highest paying jobs. Mostly union. What allot of companies are doing is going to private ownership of delivery routes. Holsum being one currently.

#10 "I'm a Little Debbie's guy myself" They don't make all their product either. Knock offs are going after them big time. They don't pay for space so they are a target in many ways. Store goes private label and gives their brand most space or at least best space. Warehouse delivery on their own trucks. High profit item for them. The quality can be a big issue with some. Size can only get smaller- to keep retails down. New round of price increases in the works anyway.

#11 Let the unions take the risks and create the jobs. Oh, that's not what they do. They are community organizers, agitators, and Alinskyites. These dumbos have croaked the golden goose in this country but then they don't really care do they?

#13 Incorrect about Little Debbies: they make their entire product in Tennessee using student labor from an adjacent college. Was friends with many who worked there, including a few who suffered work-related accidents due to fatigue (deeply cut fingers, but no severed limbs).

#14 Little Miss Debbies are made in Collegedale, TN. The 7th Day Adventists have presence there; they have local college, church and store.

#15 Tennessee is a Right-to-Work state. Not all the Little Miss Debbies are made in Collegdale but in other parts of the country as indicated in this article.

#16 Now think about it for a second. When you do a run it would be too costly to produce some items. Bag donuts for example. Co packer can produce product and private label cheaper than running a line yourself. Crackers would be another. Either you supply product or you delete it. You delete it and you lose space in the stores.

For heavy users, a more important question is "Are they as cheap?"

#19 A more relevant question. Are there any more Mom and Pop bakeries? Not where I live.

#22 Yes, there are mom and pop bakeries. No, they are not cheaper. I'm not a big comparison shopper but would guess you will pay more for better quality.
