#1 Hell what's not to like about armed coppers in an all night eatery?

#2 The manager's action is like posting a big sign to the miscreants that the Denny's ATM was open for service. I wouldn't want to be an officer sitting unarmed in a place that the armed criminal element, knowing I was unarmed, could get free shots off. Maybe Corporate is more than a little nervous for good reason.

#3 And Denny's quite unexpectedly added ‘Buy one Bear Claw get one Free’ to their monthly special.

#4 Crime stats for 'Waffle House' are quite low. Perhaps there is a reason.

#5 Generally, owners like police on the premises. "When seconds count, the police are minutes away already there."

#6 Never did hear what the official chain/specific restaurant policy was. If they had a sign which said no weapons, then no weapons.

I've been to that restaurant at that time where everyone is so fubar'd police would be a distraction to business.

If its store policy its store policy, police should not be above the law. If the manager was being an ass, fire the ass.

#7 ...in the text of the posting -

On Thursday a Denny’s official met with the police department and offered an apology for the actions taken by the local restaurant’s management. Denny’s reiterated their corporate policy allows all law enforcement officers to carry their weapons while inside their restaurants.

If you click on the second link on my first comment, you'll see corporate is facing a civil lawsuit for not providing adequate security in another situation. I suspect that a jury in such a case being told that corporate took the position of the manager would find its profits hit with something more than a little speed bump.
