#1 "In 1968, Manchin said the minimum wage was $1.60. Adjusting for inflation, he said the 2014 minimum wage should be around $10.10."

..and 1968 is the magic year why.?

#3 In 1968 the most available computer was an IBM 360. Affordable only by big business or various government agencies or via government funding. That little computer at your finger tips right now is astronomically more powerful than that big iron and costs (per hours worked) astronomically less - when adjusted for inflation. Probably on the order of a cheap Timex of the time.

#4 1968 was the peak year of inflation adjusted minimum wage.

4 gallons of gas
or 2 packs of smokes
or 2 six packs of Ole MIl (ack!)
or 7.5 McDonald classic burgers.

And upon further investigation it looks like the Congress man is ummm... wrong...

The minimum wage went to $1.00 an hour effective February 1967 for newly covered nonfarm workers, $1.15 in February 1968, $1.30 in February 1969, $1.45 in February 1970, and $1.60 in February 1971. Increases for newly subject farm workers stopped at $1.30. The 1966 amendments extended the fulltime student certification program to covered agricultural employers and to institutions of higher learning.

#8 Dem congresspeole are hyped on the minimum wage right now because they don't want to talk about their real accomplishment, which is "minimum work..."

#9 No, they don't want to talk about Obama and the disaster that is Obamacare.

Raise the wages (That's a good one)
