#1 Assad's targeting of rebel/jihadi strongholds appears to have very recently gained momentum and effectiveness.

Of course in the media, Pentagon and State Department spokespersons continue to pursue the Muzzi-speak doubletalk, 'dump the evil Assad' line at every opportunity [no longer mentioning the regime's failed "Arab Spring" campaign].
