#2 Hence the Egyptians are angling at a 3km "buffer zone" on the Gaza border.Clearly they don't believe the denials of Hamas, and it will be interesting to see if any evidence is produced of border tunnels to Sinai. The Egyptian military dictatorship has granted itself sweeping new powers, and while this may have all sorts of implications for Israel, they are well placed to address the security of the Gaza border. Gaza Palestinians will be border-locked, still it will be the fault of the Israelis, of course.

#3 Israel needs to keep its explosives more secure from theft. In the past they would have been blamed for the bombing.

#4 HAMAS is officially denying the allegation that its org has tunnels leading into the Sinai.

Hahahaha - no, wait, seriously?

And a 3km buffer zone - what, the Egyptian military's just going to occupy the whole of Rafah? Just in time for Hamas to start building tunnels with their newly delivered construction supplies *into* Rafah. Then in a year or two, the Egyptians will declare a second buffer zone to take in everything up to Kahn Yunis. By 2020 they'll have occupied half the Strip...

#6 The Egyptians and Jordanians kept things fairly peaceful during their "occupation of Palestine". I don't think Israel would mind. The Egyptians, however, may find they've bitten off more than they can chew.
