#1 Human Rights Watch - entirely one-sided view and can't be taken seriously unless it addresses the issue with fairness. Where's the condemnation of terrorists bludgeoning to death of those in prayer, baby-killing motorists, Molotov-throwing street protesters, and to those who incite such crimes? Home demolition may be "collective punishment", but a collective response to a collective attack makes sense. Sad to say it's the mothers who actively breed martyrs and incubate this vile hatred. Israel has learned home demolition is effective as a terrorist disincentive, as does annulment of residency status. This is the 3rd intifada.

#2 Unless they're internationally recognize historical or cultural relics, an unoccupied house is not covered by any war crime in any sense of the words except to those who cheapen the entire concept of 'war crime' reducing it to nothingness.
