#1 I wonder if the $28 k was sourced by one of our government agencies as part of a sting of some kind? Perhaps Farook figured it out and that's why the sudden, second-tier terrorist attack instead of something more 'spectacular' that it looks like was planned.

#2 Bingo! That's why I continue to search the open source media for something more on the contents of the pipe bombs.

Similar to the Tsarnaev bros and Nadal Hasan, Farook may have gone kinetic without warning. The workplace attack may have been a strategically planned default.

#3 Another possibility: Word got back to the pair's handlers that there was danger of compromise of a larger, overall plan. Farooq and his gun moll then were used to both deflect from and seal-off the larger operation.
