#1 I'll bet his advisers worked him over with a baseball bat for that tirade.

#2 How did that kinder gentler war work out George?

George is a decent human being. Probably not the type to wage a Jacksonian War. A lot of Americans are tired of expending resources and lives only to see it squandered away by the oligarchy (aka ruling class). They get upset looking back and see the times when you had the opportunity to go full bore and all that investment that was made only to be left a crap sandwich. Then words fail them to express themselves in a manner that something lacks sense to others.

#3 BTW, you think it will be hard to find books/articles expressing the position the FDR knew prior about the Pearl Harbor attack and did nothing about it wanting the US to get into the war? Never happened, nada, nothing. File under frustration.

#4 IIRC, and correct me if I'm wrong, it was political correctness that kept security personnel at Logan Airport from detaining and interrogating the 9/11 terrorists. Those guys were obviously jacked up about something, all of them with one way tickets and jabbering in Arabic. Hinky to say the least. We don't need people like that in our country now and we didn't need them then. If the CIA didn't tell W to look for that profile they weren't doing their jobs and he wasn't either.

#5 Last time I flew with my wife I had to watch the TSA guys feeling her up. Pissed me off. I have a clue for you: middle aged blond ladies do not commit acts of terrorism. We have the tools to identify who the potential terrorists are. Use them, dammit.

#6 Trump has come out as a vaccine conspiracy nut, he was one of the first birthers, now he's making Sept 11 conspiracy noises. Someone should ask him who killed Kennedy.

Unfortunately the answer would probably drive up his poll numbers.

#7 9/11 was not a conspiracy. It was a failure.

Now, who had the most to gain from Kennedy's death?

If you were a homicide investigator, wouldn't you ask that question?

#8 "I am not blaming him", Trump said...

Really? You gotta be fuckin' kidding me. That's exactly what he meant. Yet all the Trump rubes either give him a pass or, more likely, agree with him. His statements regarding 9/11 and President Bush "lied" about Iraqi WMD confirm a couple of things. First, Trump not only makes foolish comments on occassion but he himself to some degree is a fool. Second, most of his supporters are comprised of simpletons and hanger-on types.

#9  9/11 was not a conspiracy. It was a failure.

For which GWB gave George Tenet the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

Short and Kimmel got something much less.

#10 Call me a simpleton if you want. I've been called worse. But if there is another Bush vs. Clinton election I plan to vote for whatever third party strikes my fancy. The Bushes and the Clintons have done enough damage to this country.

#11 Whatever EU6305. One thing is for sure. If it ends up the two viable candidates are both running on "Bush lied people died" there's gonna be be a whole lot of people sitting this one out.

#12 "Now, who had the most to gain from Kennedy's death?"

Lots of people might want someone dead, they might become extremely rich or powerful when that death happens, and still have nothing to do with the crime. Besides that, few Presidential assassins seem to have solid motives.

#13 I wanted to believe in the Iraq war. Back then I did believe in it. It's easy to criticize in hindsight. But we gained nothing from that war. Even if Iraq hadn't fallen apart, we won nothing. And by now we've all seen enough to know that when you depose bad guys like Saddam you create a vacuum that gets filled by the likes of ISIS. How many more wars do we have to fight over there and what will it cost? Why can't we just leave them to figure it out for themselves?

And then put Iraq aside. What about illegal immigration and the mortgage meltdown? What about all of our jobs going to China and Mexico? It's the same thing whether we have Clinton or Bush. They're like two sides of the same bad penny that keeps coming back to us. No more Roosevelts. No more Clintons. No more Bushes. So who is left? Carson or Cruz? Kasich? Rubio? Sanders?

Trump started right out saying build a wall and keep Muslims out of here. He says we lose in our trade deals with China and Mexico. Call me racist and foolish all you want but tell me why nobody else will even talk about the biggest problems we have.

#14 And then put Iraq aside.

EU6305, I don't want this to be a pissing match so let me just say you proved my point. You wrote a paragraph about the execution and outcome of the Iraq war - BTW most of which I agree with. And then completly dismissed Trumps recent comments. Only to champion his positions on other issues. Maybe you agree with Trump that Bush is to blame for 9/11. Perhaps you also agree he knowingly lied about the existence of WMD. Maybe you have no opinion on either? Just know there's alot of people, including myself, who will never vote for someone who uses the same talking points as Code Pink.

#15 It is hard to judge Iraq when all the gains were thrown away by a pull-out (despite pleas from experts) because Obama had made a campaign promise and felt all was stable.

One thing we did learn is that Islam is not compatible with democracy*. Knowing that leaves me feeling guilt-free when it comes to refugees and all the other things going on in the Middle East. They had a chance, we paid for that chance in blood, but the Muslims would rather kill.

* Which makes me wonder why the US destabilized and attempted to push democracy in Egypt, Libya and Syria.

#16 * Which makes me wonder why the US destabilized and attempted to push democracy in Egypt, Libya and Syria.

Because the man in charge has an ego problem and wanted to best the man in charge prior to him. "Mine is bigger than yours" infantile narcissism operating from dogma and academic ignorance of how the world really works.

#18 DepotGuy, like I said, I believed it at the time. I wanted to believe George Bush. And in my ignorance, I wanted to believe that democracy might work in Iraq. I think we all know better now. I don't know about the weapons. Sharon said they went to Syria and he was probably as credible as anybody. But the fact is they were never found and all the blood and treasure we lost in the nation building effort was wasted. We can only speculate what that part of the world would be like now if we had stayed out of it but it sure is a mess now. And you can blame Obama if you want. There is a certain validity to that. But Bush left our country in a shambles in 2008 and that paved the way for Obama's election. There were people who knew the situation created by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac was dangerous. IMHO that was a far greater danger to us than Saddam ever was.

As for 9/11 I think Bush was sucked in by the same political correctness that still suckers a lot of people today. Those guys should have never been let into the country and Trump is the only one who says he would keep them out of here now. Trump is not beholden to the House of Saud.
