#12 These experts see the conflict as a popularity contest where the West and the terrorists are the competitors vying for the good will of the general Muslim populace.

The problem is that in order to win this competition the West will have to prove to the Muslims that it is a better servant, and a better tool with which to enforce the will of Muslims than the terrorists would be.

IOW the West must submit to Muslims in order to win.
