#1 'No gun sales to people on the 'Terror Watch List' seems to be such common sense that people don't want to listen to arguments against it. They refuse to understand that it would provide - as it stands - no protection against abuse and no recourse (or extremely difficult recourse) against errors.
I'm pretty sure the people who were pushing it were quite aware of its problems but figure it's a 'win-win' for them - if it's voted down (as it was) they get to demonize gun nuts for supporting terrorists, and if it's passed they would get to abuse it for all sorts of 'convenient' purposes.

#2 All the government would need to do is get the membership list for the NRA, and add i. t to the watch list.

#3 John Koskinen holds the key. Deleting IRS 'Earning Income' recipients and those making over $500k per year will produce a fairly accurate 'watch list.'

[Should snark warning be included...or no ?]

#4 I believe that was the plan Rambler.

After all conservatives, veterans, and those who advocate self-reliance are, by definition, more dangerous to the country than terrorists. At least in their minds.

#5 They would love to be able to sidestep most of the Constitution with a stupid law like this. The SC would most likely ok it too.

While I'm glad the bills where shot down, it kinda only delays the inevitable a bit.

#6 Yes DV, one more mass shooting and things will likely begin to change for gun owners.

#7 I would bet my next paycheck the government is already deep in the planning stages of the next one, Besoeker.

#8 With each mass shooting more people buy guns, many of them, like AlanC's wife, being first time buyers or first time encouragers.
