Quoting the VFW remarks:

"It is true that not everyone can handle traumatic events, be it from war, bad car accidents, violent crime or even surviving a hurricane," a VFW national spokesman said in response to Trump's comments in a statement provided to ABC News. "Regarding veterans, we need to treat those who need help and research how two people experiencing the same time and place can be impacted so differently."

What Trump said was some vets have difficulty handling the awful things many of his listeners had experienced. And that's just a fact. Otherwise, every vet would have PTSD.

And he said they needed to be treated and supported.

Don't let the lefties weaponize PTSD and Gold Star Families. Don't get sucked in by ABC and Twitter spin.

#3 My issue goes far beyond this. It goes to his continuous deluge of feeding the trolls and bringing up stupid and pointless banter instead of talking about Presidential things.

He keeps playing their game.

He is supposed to be making a new ball park and keep them on defensive by NOT addressing the stupid shit they bring up.

But rather the dire shit we are in and showing his comprehension of the magnitude of his duty by NOT talking about Rosie o'donell, MS whoever, or any of the other bullshit you find in the enquirer or people magazine.

He needs circumcision from the hollywood class and stop being so lazy as to the duties he purports to want to hold.

I don't see anything objectionable. In fact, IMO, if Hillary said this it would be proof - cited in all the papers - of that a good candidate she is.

#6 I happened to have the TV on when Fox carried the panel discussion live. The quote was taken totally out of context. While Trump may have been inarticulate, the statement didn't even reach the Bushism level.

#8 The thing is, Trump says a paragraph worth of great stuff and in that paragraph is a sentence that can be taken badly (and it will be) and the paragraph is lost and his fans end up spending more time explaining and defending.

#11 The source here is ABC News so of course what Trump said was reprehensible. But the fact is that if everybody could handle it then we wouldn't have a problem. Is that not the truth? I'm thinking that ABC News has a problem with the truth.

#12 newc, here's a piece of advice: Turn the damn TV off.

I know it's a cliche when politicians say their words were taken out of context but with sources like ABC we see it happening all the time. ABC doesn't lie by telling outright falsehoods. Rather, they present a thin sliver of the truth and then they spin it in a way that makes it look or sound like something entirely different than what it really was. They do not tell you the whole story in which the truth is revealed. It's just the same as lying but it kinda sorta gives them an out. It's disgusting.

Does your wife want to watch the news no matter what you think? Me too. It got so bad at my house that I was yelling and screaming whenever David Muir came on the TV screen. I'd threaten to throw my glass of whiskey at the TV then I'd think better of it and take my drink outside on the patio. Now we watch CBS instead. I think they're just as bad but perhaps a bit more subtle in their lies which is perhaps even worse. I still think it's nicer on the patio.

#14 Just a little selective editing by ABC news.

Much like NBC news 'selectively editing' the audio recording of Zimmerman.

Its not a mistake, its deliberate and therefore lying.

When I say that it was an ABC news report I thought it might have been so. As I recall they did the same with their Sarah Palin 'interview'. Selectively edit it to make her look like an idiot.

#15 I look at the news like I learned to read the Boston Globe when I was about 12 or 13 - 'how are these fucking bastards lying to me now?' and then go get the real story (usually from the Manchester Union Leader).

That's how you should look at it.
