#1 The ship is technically classified as a research vessel, but it’s equipped with a pair of remote submarines that U.S. officials have said are capable of severing the cables miles under the ocean’s surface that carry global Internet communications.

Pure rubbish! The remote vehicles mentioned are Wikileaks submersibles, nothing more.

Speaking as your Telecomms Advisor, bombing the crap out of your infrastructure does not improve network stability or uptime.

Also, it is much easier to turn off some hardware than to cut a cable. I call B.S.
