#1 Will the public follow these religious scholars if they are portrayed as lustful figures ... and hypocrites?

And here we have the crux of the issue for all things and people, political or religious. .

Is it the portrayal, or is it the reality?

Everyone written about in any religious text or history book or news paper etc. is being portrayed by someone else. The question is "how close to reality is the portrayal" and how much is the narrative?
