That was SOP when you fire someone in a sensitive position (after various compromises with computer based materials we've all watch unfold these past couple of years). You fire'm, and then have security escort them to HR for their papers and out the door. They get their 'personal' stuff sent to them and don't get to rummage through anything in their old office or cube.

That's been the standard line of crap the Dems throw at every Repub. president since I've been alive. Of course it's bullshit, and it doesn't explain how a guy builds a huge real estate business through his own efforts, or (in the case of W.) why the Air Force Reserve would let a blithering idiot fly multi-million dollar jet aircraft.
