#1 Worked for a while during college at a company that made powdered cheese for the boxed mac & cheese product.

Seemingly the worst grades of 'cheese products' (and a bunch of other stuff as noted in the article) was ground and mixed with water, forming a liquid slurry, before it was high-pressure sprayed into huge ovens for drying. Powdered end product was then removed from the oven (that's where I came in) and bagged for transport.

To this day, I can't deal with powdered cheese (or other mass-produced powdered foods) as I know what goes into making it.
