#10 I'd like to see Google sink but the competition seems pretty far behind. How hard is it to make an efficient search engine?

#15 I echo the comment another made before me--I'd love to stop using Google, but I haven't found a search engine that can hold a candle to it.

#16 You can use dogpile, which sits on top of Google and other search engines, and strips out Google's ads, so you can deprive them of the revenue.

#19 @crusader, use startpage.com. It's run by DuckDuckGo, but uses the google search engine after DDG strips your personal/browser/location info off the search query.

If you think the results aren't as good as google, that's because google was customizing the results for you to match what it thinks you like.

#20 Well, I tried DuckDuckGo - seems OK. But I still have to use GoogleSchoolar.
