Zim surely isn't the only example. The continent is chucked full of such colossal failures. Of course most are blamed on 18th through 20th century colonialism, not 40,000 years of genetically tuned tribal history.

#5 Hypothesis: Agricultural tribes will spread along banks of rivers. Step 2: European Governments split territories along rivers (convenient geography feature marked on maps) separating tribes and arbitrarily mixing them with other tribes similarly split. Step 3: Chaos ensues.
