#1 Sonoma County officials opted not to send mass alert on deadly fire

As fires that would prove devastating burned across the North Bay late Sunday, Sonoma County considered sending a mass alert to cell phones in the region to warn of the rapidly spreading flames. But county officials decided against it, worried that doing so might create widespread panic and hinder the ability of first responders to combat the blazes.

#2 Tough call.

For you CA Rantburgers or in the know. I was told a number of the fire areas are popular with squatters and trespass farmers if you will; yes/no?

Please tell me not all the firefighters are fighting in just wild land gear, on foot, with 1 1/4"s and rakes.

I am seeing different relief effort donations, including masks to protect from the smoke. The suggestion I saw were those medical masks. No, just no. Get those shop particle masks with the bendy where the bridge of the nose fits, dual elastic bands.
