Siddiqui is a family name or surname belonging to the descendants of Abu Bakr, a companion of Muhammad. The title "Siddiq" (Arabic: Veracious) was given to the first Muslim Caliph (one of the Rashidun, or "Rightly guided" Caliphs) Abu Bakr by Muhammad. Siddiqui means The Truthful in Arabic. The Siddiqui surname is found among a number of ethnic groups and communities after its spread from Middle East and Africa to Central Asia and South Asia.They are found mostly in Punjab and Sindh provinces of Pakistan and northern India mostly in Uttar Pradesh and are known as Punjabi Shaikh.
