#1 ...Don't watch the nice man running his mouth about how great it is. Watch to see how many they actually build on a production line.

I suspect it won't be many.

#2 The new AWACS boasts the new Vega Premier faster scanning active phased array radar (APAR), which manually scans in azimuth, but electronically in elevation

Ha,ha! This Russian AESA is the Brazilian Landing Strip of Radars. Come back when you have enough elements to also scan horizontally.

#3 I apologize for an unrelated post but speaking surveillance in the sky. You folks might want to see these F-18 cockpit videos. Forget the article and Harry Reid's involvement.

Starting in about 1967 it was a career problem for any Air Force crews to report objects. We had a staff member (former SAC Bomber pilot) explained the UFO kiss of death in my office. As well as two off our friends who were former Duluth Air Force radar traffic operators saying the same thing. The do not report it was the hard mantra.

Now with fighter auto filming systems we have these videos coming out. Two clips, listen to the pilots freaking out. Enjoy.

A video shows an encounter between a Navy F/A-18 Super Hornet and an unknown object. It was released by the Defense Department's Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program.

#4 Too many eggs in one basket.

The A-100 can spot aerial targets more than 370 miles away and warships nearly 250 miles from the aircraft.

So they still haven't beat the wave spray sparkle?
