#2 Never could understand why they made the barracks troops store their knives in the arms room (circa mid-70s) while allowing them to keep the entrenching tool in their locker kit (not to mention bunk adapters).

#8 Reminds me of my uncle in the USAAC sitting in a foxhole at Wheeler Field 8 Dec 1941. All their planes had been destroyed on the ground. He and his buddy agreed to each share their last bullet for each other.

#11 They teach this in Ranger School as well as all other Academies of better combat learning.

It is extremely effective which is why it is heavy, bulky, hard to clean and sharpen.
