Riyadh, a major rival to Iran, views Assad’s relationship with Tehran as unacceptable. Like their American partners, the Saudis have repeatedly called for Assad’s removal. The Sunni kingdom has clashed with Shia Iran for decades...According to Assad, Saudi Arabia even offered to fight alongside – and not against – Damascus if it severed its ties with Tehran.

And the Nobel Peace Prize winner chose to fund Al-Nusra....

#4 Given that it’s a Russia Today article, missing the Russian mercenaries was probably deliberate.

As I recall, someone on the Nobel committee stated that the choice of barely-president Barack Obama was intended as a poke in George W. Bush’s eye, confirming everyone’s previous beliefs about the non-monetary value of the thing, and of the committee.
