#1 Don't listen to those idiots. We need armed guards at schools like we have a theaters and malls. Maybe park the Peace Officers station next to the schools - or a fire house. Just protect the Softest of targets.

Equipment is meaningless, Trump. Defense is the paydirt in this war of fire against fire.

#2 A piece of kit no one needs. You want to fire a machine gun, join the bloody army. The NRA would do well to praise the POTUS move.

#3 Banning bump stocks is a sop to the left. Most gun enthusiasts & sportsmen don't seem to care much about such a ban. Some gun ranges and clubs have fully automatic firearms should someone want to have the experience of shooting a fully auto gun.

Bumps stocks were involved in exactly one incident in Las Vega. I can't think of any other shootings where bump stock or fully auto firearms have been used in mass shootings.

Bump stocks and guns are not the problem. Crazy people are the problem. There are plenty of gun laws. That is not the problem.

The biggest problems as, I see it, are: 1. Radicalized and crazy people, and 2. Not acting upon available information about crazy or radicalized people.

#5 I seem to remember a bolt-action 6.5 mm Carcano doing some damage at one time. Fired three aimed rounds within 8.3 seconds supposedly.

They'll eventually come for everything, even my old single-shot Stevens 410.

#6 The bump stock devices use inertia to increase the fire rate. How do you craft a law that has language narrow enough not affect the internal mechanics of semi-automatic guns? Not to mention,one can accomplish simmilar fire rates with an elastic strap, the correct trigger weight, and minimum practice.

#11 Bumpstocks aren’t the issue.

The solution to school shootings is to quit having schools a soft target. This will involve staff trained and certified in concealed carry of firearms.

Also, one approach never mentioned is to educate students on what they can do to protect their classmates, teachers, and themselves. I taught my son and his chums what they could do to protect their class. It does not involve hiding under a desk. I can understand students’ horror and outrage, but the authorities cultivate the victim like sheep rather than showing what students can do to help themselves.

#13 They talked to the original ATF agent that made the determination on bump stocks and he pointed out you can use a belt loop, or even just your finger and he demonstrated how it can be done. The language will have to be very narrowly defined.

#14 Let me get this straight. The US military moved away from auto fire on assault rifles and towards three shot bursts because auto-fire was less accurate and tended to waste bullets.

Bump stock semi-duplicates auto-fire so we want to ban it?

Shouldn't we be promoting anything that makes a shooter less accurate and more likely to run out of bullets quickly?

I'd be for armed guards/police in schools. Where guards/police have been in schools or in other venues, it seems to be a deterrent if someone might shoot back.

Even if they tried to take all the guns, the problem would persist.
