#2 The "Leading from behind" B.S. didn't work worth squat. Reagan said "Negotiate from a position of strength." Trump must also believe this. Others such as SA and the Norks must believe Trump follows this axiom.

#3 I still believe that the impending tariff war with China is part of a salvo to reign in Kimmie (plus counterfeit stuff, trade infringement, other BS, etc.) or suffer consequences.

The Middle Kingdom folks leaned on Kimmie to offer a 'carrot' in their behalf.

Not that they expect him to actually negotiate in good faith mind you, but it looks good on paper.
