#8 Manchin sounds like a boozer on Monday morning after he realizes he missed work again and will be officially unemployed after he listens to his voicemail. He knows he should quit drinking but there’s a game on later and he didn’t finish the case in the fridge before he passed out.

Manchin is looking for a deal to not run as an independent and screw up the Dem candidate in 2024. An acceptable alternative would be the throw away VP slot after Biden is put out to pasture. Kerry would also be a strong contender to garner that honorific creating and retirement bumping dead-end opportunity. Maybe Manchin will settle for Energy Sec in the next Dem administration.

He's trying to thread the needle. His likely opponent, popular governor Jim Justice, is in the fast lane of an expressway.

DoJ is trying to find something criminal about Justice's tenure as a coal executive before he became governor.
