#3 In 1966 a group of us left New Haven Connecticut to begin our journey to Parris Island, South Carolina. Only some family and friends came to say good bye as we boarded the south-bound train. However, one organization was there to see us off, the Jewish American War Veterans. They gave each one of us a little package containing toiletries, candy bars another items I can no longer remember. I will never forget that. I will never forget them.
