#4  IMHO, plenty of parents provide a "welfare state" hammock for their kids which is just as harmful as the state's one.

Although the parents have paid for their own hammock by signing checks in their kids names (look at house price/earnings ratios).

-Signs, Portents, and the Weather-
Today a mask, tomorrow a hazmat suit ‐ where does it stop?
[News With Views] Before I delve into that legal question, I feel it’s imperative to get this newly released information out there having to do with the death of George Floyd. This latest round of rioting started over Floyd’s death and by design, moved on to the agenda of domestic terrorists like BLM and ANTIFA as well as the insanity, Defund the Police.

We all know what happened that day — or think we do. Floyd was put on the ground. Officer Chauvin kneed his neck. Floyd was yelling he can’t breathe many times. At the time MPD allowed the use of neck restraint for individuals resisting arrest. Only cops can tell you what a nightmare and how dangerous it is trying to deal with either a drunk or someone full of drugs. Floyd was 6’7".

George Floyd was a repeat criminal offender, an ex-con who went to prison for holding a loaded gun up against the stomach of a pregnant woman with the intent to rob. He was also a serious, hard core drug addict. That is not an excuse to kill any individual being questioned by police officers. Everyone in this country is entitled to due process.

A few days ago, the transcript of Officer Thomas Lane’s body camera was finally released. It tells the story in real time of exactly what actually happened before Floyd was kneed on the ground.

George Floyd was resisting arrest, make no mistake about that. Even Floyd’s friend in the car they came to the store in yelled at George to stop resisting. The officers repeatedly tried to get him into the police car while Floyd had a running narrative about how he’s not that kind of man, he loves his mother over and over. He keeps telling the officers not to shoot him and their response was they were not going to shoot him. All they wanted was his cooperation.

George did not want to get in the police car and made that perfectly clear. Early on, Officer Kueng said Floyd was acting erratic. This is consistent with what store employees where the alleged counterfeit bill was presented by Floyd recounted for the police.

#4  taking HCQ means you give up a chance to contribute to herd immunity.

Why? As I understand it, HQC — whether or not plus zinc and azithromycin or plus the asthma inhaler — is not a cure, but merely allows the patient’s immune system to fight off the infection without being overwhelmed by the fallout of a cytokine storm. So herd immunity would be improved by one more survivor rather than diminished by another corpse.
Posted by: trailing wife || 07/14/2020 3:17 Comments || Top||

#5  No. Actually, to the extent that we understand its action, it prevents viral replication
The molecular ionic attachment of HCQ to RNA
nucleotides enabled by AZR results in the inhibition of the replication capability of the coronavirus disease
COVID-19
.
No viral replication, no immune response. And therefore, no immune memory - immunity.
That's why it's a good prophylactic and not so good cure.
Mind you, I think "herd immunity" is on par with perpetuum mobile or Lamarckism.

Illinois House of Horrors: Rockford Abortion Clinic's Procedures and Practices
[News With Views] The Northern Illinois Women’s Center’s (NIWC’s) license was suspended but only on a temporary basis by the Democratic Party’s minions at the Illinois Department of Public Health. The suspension was due to multiple medical and health deficiencies which the state’s public health inspectors discovered and cited in successive inspections.

Many believe that the violations were a result of laxity by the IDPH. In fact, this facility, which enjoyed media and political coverups, was the focus of a public health inspection of NIWC only once in the past decade.

"Repeated requests for public records, and medically informed objections were communicated to the Illinois Department of Public Health by a courageous pro-life registered nurse who finally provoked these belated professional inspections that turned up a hornet’s nest of health code violations," according to officials at the Thomas More Society, a public interest pro-life law firm based in Chicago.

"After further review and a public hearing that turned out to be not so public, the politically-motivated IDPH came to an agreement with the Rockford abortion clinic to allow the clinic to re-open. Nearly 14 days later, the NIWC abortion clinic voluntarily turned in its medical license and permanently shut down the notorious abortion clinic," noted the Thomas More lawyers.

They cited the violations that were proof that NIWC abortion clinic was operated in a shoddy, vile and professionally irresponsible manner, including, among others, the following:

  • Use of unsanitized medical instruments;
  • Ambulatory surgical treatment regulation violations that include lack of adequate written procedures for garbage and refuse removal, insect and rodent control, maintenance of water, heat, ventilation and air condition and electrical service;
  • Incomplete patient medical history and physical examination records which should have been generated, compiled before administration of anesthesia and kept on file;
  • No registered nurse present during operations; indeed, none was even employed;
  • Incomplete or incorrect patient clinical documentation;
  • Failure to give post-operative counseling to patients;
  • Improper staff review and training;
  • Improper documentation as to administration and inventory of drugs;

    During a telephonic conference call discussing the fate of the clinic, the lawyer for the abortion provider suggested to the Thomas More legal team that he filed a written answer to the State’s charges and was interested in communicating a suggested settlement offer to the State of Illinois.

    The attorney for the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) acknowledged the State’s interest in pursuing a settlement, which — if approved —would allow the abortion provider to reopen its doors.

    Nearly 14 days later, officials at the NIWC abortion clinic voluntarily turned in its medical license and permanently shut down the notorious abortion clinic," noted the Thomas More lawyers.

    China-Japan-Koreas
    Stumbling Tiger: Has China’s Rise Peaked?
    [Real Clear Defense] Facts to consider: China's population is aging at a rate and scale that is historically unprecedented. That nation is expected to lose 400 million working age persons this century, and the number is already falling. There is an 18 percent gender imbalance in the country's population. China's birth rate never recovered from its multi-decade "one child" policy.

    China's rise as a global economic power, and regional military power, is one of the fastest in history. China has grown faster than America for four straight decades. It has built the industrial and technological foundations for a rapid expansion of its military, to include world-class capabilities in space launch, and its own version of GPS. China's mercantilist economics have taken over entire sectors of other economies, including those of the United States. All this has occurred  not just with U.S. acquiescence, but intentional facilitation. America first wanted China as a counterweight to Soviet Russia, and then aggressively helped China to get rich, with the expectation that self-government and democracy would follow in the Middle Kingdom.

    But the times may be-a-changin’. China's population is aging at a rate and scale that is historically unprecedented.
    I may have mentioned something about this from time to time... ;-)
    That nation is expected to lose 400 million working age persons this century, and the number is already falling. There is an 18 percent gender imbalance in the country's population. China's birth rate never recovered from its multi-decade "one child" policy. India will likely pass China as the world's most populous country this decade. China has just backed off publishing its economic growth goal for the first time in decades.

    China is bullying South Korean and Japanese companies. Samsung and Sony are scaling back their operations in the People's Republic. Apple is a laggard, but is planning to move 20 percent of its Chinese supply-chain presence to India. India banned fifty-nine Chinese mobile apps after the above-mentioned border clash. Huawei has found itself on the Trump administration's blacklist, and its loss of Google on its smartphones has badly damaged sales outside China. The UK has announced plans for Huawei's complete removal from British telecom infrastructure by 2023.

    China's export markets are flat on their backs, and furious at China about the coronavirus. Europe is 16 percent of China's exports, and is an economic and financial wreck. America is 19 percent, the Trump attitude towards China is no secret, and those views are gaining steam with both parties on Capitol Hill. Chinese exports to America are falling rapidly, down 17 percent from the summer 2018 to January 2020. This will be dramatically accelerated by coronavirus. No one thought this economic decoupling could happen so fast. Chinese global direct foreign investment is also down from $260 billion in 2017 to $125 billion in 2019. Why would China be easing up now on its Belt and Road Initiative?

    On the military side, China's geographic circumstances can only be described as bottled up and vulnerable. China is almost surrounded by countries that are unfriendly. It only has one ally, North Korea, which is more of a client state. Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Vietnam, Australia, and India are all on the spectrum from cool to hostile towards China. Most are allies or friendly with the United States. Many are armed with American high-tech weapons.

As bad as what the Federal Reserve is doing to the Dollar, it's at least got world reserve currency status going for it at the moment. The yuan has no such attribute. The Chinese may be able to trade their way out of debt, but the US will certainly have to pay its way out of debt. Neither case is anywhere near a likelihood.

It was essentially a CCP idea and was opposed by everyone down stream to the Damn. Less than a year from construction they were having to patch it. The sell a lot of stuff internally that is counterfit, sound alike , and/or knock offs. You buy any of it and hope the it build when someone was having a good day. #13  Yes, the problem China has is they can't simply print yuan to get themselves out of trouble.

    They can. All countries do this. The trade-off is inflation. Ever notice how gold is not $25 an ounce any more? That's in part increased scarcity (and thus extraction costs) and in part the result of printing money. Gold's price increase in % terms has been far smaller when measured in other currencies. Printing money carries a very measurable price. It buys less when compared to countries that don't print as much. But all countries print money. It's a cure-all for recessions, at the expense of people who put their money in savings accounts and bonds.

    Fifth Column
    Trove of Leaked FBI, Fusion Center and DHS Documents Provide Insight Into Antifa, Charlottesville, Political Bias, and the Erosion of Civil Liberties
    From Unz.

    Read it or don't, but remember, the information is wherever you find it even if you think the source might be icky poo.

    A fair cop.
    On June 22nd, a group of anarchist hackers called DDoSecrets dumped 270 gigabytes worth of internal documents belonging to regional police fusion centers, the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

    The documents provide interesting insight into state surveillance tactics, political bias and dynamics, and how “threats” are prioritized.

    The files — dated from 2015 to 2020 in the sample National Justice looked at — show a massive contradiction between the FBI’s ideologically selective priorities and the actual intelligence being provided to them by regional police centers, which often stress the role of “antifa” as instigators of violence.

    POLICE KNOW ANARCHIST EXTREMISTS ALWAYS INSTIGATE VIOLENCE AT RALLIES
    Law enforcement is fully aware of who provokes the fighting and rioting at riots: the left. The documents from fusion centers across the country (intelligence provided by local police departments) repeatedly report this.

    An intelligence PDF iconassessment by the Northern California Regional Intelligence Center regarding the Berkeley Riots of Spring 2017, where anarchists and free speech activists faced off, painstakingly details the various criminal tactics “antifa” groups used to disrupt and physically injure lawful protesters and police officers.

    The anarchist extremist groups in question continue to use the same tactics to this day, yet rarely face any criminal charges. The FBI is fully informed on the matter, including where the anarchists in California train in paramilitary tactics, yet refuses to investigate or prosecute any anarchist group for conspiring to commit acts of violence.

    The Boston Regional Intelligence Center (BRIC)PDF iconreported similar information in its investigation of the Boston Free Speech Rally on August 19th, 2017. BRIC noted that the nationalist and free speech demonstrators, about 60 of them in total, had a permit for the event, while the anarchist groups that showed up to heckle-veto them were there illegally.

    The leftist rioters began attacking the protesters, and later, began engaging in gratuitous yet apparently coordinated violence against police officers attempting to intervene, causing multiple injuries.

    The most interesting document of all is an intelligence assessment by DHS in the run up to the now famous Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville,
    ...that’s the one where the gun toters were from several chapters of Redneck Revolt/John Brown Gun Club, which calls itself Antifa’s militia wing, pretending to be white supremacists...
    which starkly contradicts the mainstream media and FBI’s narrative.

    In a PDF icondocument dated August 9th, 2017, DHS wrote “We assess that anarchist extremists’ use of violence as a means to oppose racism and white supremacist extremists’ preparations to counterattack anarchist extremists are the principal drivers of violence at recent white supremacist rallies.”

    In other words, the DHS accurately predicted, through its intelligence gathering resources, that the nationalist groups in Charlottesville would only engage in self-defense if attacked. The Charlottesville Police Department, Mayor, and Governor were all warned in advance that Unite the Right had the potential to be the most violent rally to date, yet according to the Heaphy investigation, they — either through incompetence but most likely through malice — enabled the carnage by ordering the police not to intervene when the anarchists attacked the nationalists.

    Home Front: Politix
    Can Trump Pull a Truman?
    [TownHall] - On July 22, 1988, after the Democratic National Convention in Atlanta, the party nominee, Gov. Michael Dukakis, enjoyed a 17-point lead over Vice President George W. Bush.

    Five weeks later, on Labor Day, Dukakis was down eight points, the same margin by which he would lose the election. He had lost 25 points in one month.

    What had happened? During August, Republican attack groups elevated and relentlessly pounded what might be called Dukakis' Bay State radical liberalism.

    ...Vice President Bush ended up winning 40 states.

    Is this possible today? Because a turnaround of that magnitude appears to be needed by Donald J. Trump.

    Over the weekend, the bad news on the virus front turned awful for the country and for Trump.

    The number of U.S. citizens dead from the coronavirus hit 135,000. COVID-19 deaths, whose weekly average had been falling since April, began to rise again.

    New cases of the infection began appearing in previously unseen numbers across the Sun Belt. Florida set a U.S. record with more than 15,000 new cases in one day.

    This surge in infections is occurring as the nation debates whether or not to send its young back to schools. Children, teachers and students could arrive by the millions in classrooms in late summer, only to be sent home in a new shutdown as a second wave of COVID-19 hits this fall.

    Were that not enough to concentrate the mind, an economy that last winter was as strong as any in modern history now looks to be in a depression. The good news of the May-June revival could be canceled out by shutdowns mandated by the new infections.

    Beyond this, America's racial divide has reopened. The attacks on cops and their demonization in the wake of the killing of George Floyd have led to demoralization, resignations and retirements, and, from there, to an explosion of shootings and killings in major cities.

    And we have witnessed the outbreak of a cultural revolution, which holds that as America has, from birth, been a slave-owning society whose policies toward the native-born amounted to cultural and ethnic genocide, the statues of those generations of men who produced such a history should all be pulled down and smashed.

    A medical crisis, an economic crisis, and a cultural and social crisis have hit us all at once, raising some fundamental questions.

    ...Trump is not responsible for the COVID-19 pandemic. And the shutdowns that induced today's depression were as much the decisions of governors and mayors as of the president. Yet, he is the one whose fate is tied to the state of the economy in November 2020.

    And, politically, Trump is the one paying the price.

    ...In 1948, Harry Truman looked like a certain loser to Gov. Tom Dewey. So he sent a raft of liberal legislation to the Hill and challenged the Republican Congress to enact it. When Congress airily dismissed his proposals, Truman barnstormed the country, calling on America to help him rid the nation of this "no-good, do-nothing 80th Congress."

    Which the country proceeded to do, as it elected Truman and threw out the first Republican Congress to sit since before the Depression.

    What the Trump folks must do now is to zero in on Biden's vulnerabilities, personal and political.

    First among these is Biden's transparently diminished verbal and mental capacity.

    ...Second, the Biden campaign has embraced an agenda that is, in part, Bernie Sanders-AOC-Black Lives Matter.

    The Trump folks need to force Biden to come out of his basement and either embrace or renounce the radical elements of his agenda. They need to do for Biden what Lee Atwater & Co. did for Dukakis.

    #3  Unlike those "paragons" (spit) McStain and Mittens, Trump will not pull any punches down the stretch. It's practically a given the dem VP pick will be a black woman (with maybe a difference, IYKWIMAITYD) and the dems will translate any attack on Joe into an attack on his VP, even if Trump says he's only talking about Joe. But Trump isn't going to let that dishonest ploy stop him.

    Joan Swirsky: 'Heads-Up Jewish Americans‐Democrats Are Your Enemies'
    [News with Views] Montana has about 1,400 Jews, Mississippi about 1,500, South Dakota 250. If I lived in any one of those beautiful states, I would not be writing this article. But I live in New York——home to about one-million, 800-thousand Jews——so the politics of being Jewish affects me and my family in a very existential——life and death——way.

    It’s quite simple for me, as it should be for all Jews, given the fact that in a world of about eight-billion people, we Jews are a miniscule 15 million, only about six-million in the United States, eight-million in Israel, and another one-million around the world. That is equivalent to the proverbial drop in the ocean.

    A PRESSING IMPERATIVE
    If we Jews and our supporters don’t aggressively address the pandemic of anti-Semitism that is galloping around the globe and exploding here in America, rampant on college campuses, aided and abetted by a craven media that gives credibility to career hate-mongers like Louis Farrakhan and his ilk, and even contaminating the hallowed halls of the U.S. Congress——with more floridly hate-Jews/hate-Israel Democrats than ever before in history——then we know from our tragic history that annihilation could be right around the corner.

    Sadly the Democrat Party of old——of JFK, Sen. Henry "Scoop" Jackson, Senator and VP Walter Mondale, et al——has vanished, replaced by Democrats like "the squad" who spew their poisonous hatred of Jews and Israel from the House of Representatives itself. Then there are those who remain thunderously silent——including elected Democrat Jews like Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer, Jerrold Nadler, Eliot Engel, Adam Schiff, Richard Blumenthal, as well Democrat Representatives from Long Island——with a huge Jewish population——Tom Suozzi and Kathleen Rice.

    My patient caught Covid-19 twice. So long to herd immunity hopes?
    h/t Hot Air
    [Vox] - "Wait. I can catch Covid twice?" my 50-year-old patient asked in disbelief. It was the beginning of July, and he had just tested positive for SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes Covid-19, for a second time — three months after a previous infection.

    While there’s still much we don’t understand about immunity to this new illness, a small but growing number of cases like his suggest the answer is yes.

    Covid-19 may also be much worse the second time around.
    I wonder, could this explain an increasing number of young people who have a symptomatic covid-19. That is, they've had an asymptomatic one already
    During his first infection, my patient experienced a mild cough and sore throat. His second infection, in contrast, was marked by a high fever, shortness of breath, and hypoxia, resulting in multiple trips to the hospital.

    Recent reports and conversations with physician colleagues suggest my patient is not alone. Two patients in New Jersey, for instance, appear to have contracted Covid-19 a second time almost two months after fully recovering from their first infection. Daniel Griffin, a physician and researcher at Columbia University in New York, recently described a case of presumed reinfection on the This Week in Virology podcast.

    It is possible, but unlikely, that my patient had a single infection that lasted three months. Some Covid-19 patients (now dubbed "long haulers") do appear to suffer persistent infections and symptoms.

    My patient, however, cleared his infection — he had two negative PCR tests after his first infection — and felt healthy for nearly six weeks.
    Can we have a surprise meter? Because you know, based on our previous experiences with common cold, nobody would expect this in a million years.
    So you're admitting it's like the common cold? *snicker*

    #8  There does appear to be a meaningful reinfection rate, though it's really hard to say what that might be because the number (7.5-15%) is within the accuracy rate of the tests. In other words, you can explain the entire measured number of reinfections as testing errors.

    Syria-Lebanon-Iran
    Iran Months Away From ‘Going Nuclear?’ – Time to End the Iranian Nuclear Program
    [andmagazine.com] The implications of that development are catastrophic. A revolutionary, messianic regime, which believes the Mahdi, an Islamic superman, will appear at any moment and that the apocalypse is nigh cannot be trusted with nuclear weapons. It will not husband them and manage them rationally. It will use them.

    We are standing on the precipice of a catastrophic event, one which may lead to a nuclear arms race in the Middle East and ultimately to the deaths of tens of millions.

    In June of this year, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) released two reports on the Iranian nuclear weapons program. They are sobering. Iran is now enriching uranium well beyond the level agreed to in the so-called Iran Deal. It is researching and perhaps building advanced centrifuges. It has resumed enrichment of uranium at its underground nuclear facility in Fordaw.

    Iran now has enough low enriched uranium (LEU) to produce a nuclear weapon. Best estimates are that Iran could transform that LEU into the highly enriched uranium (HEU) needed to make a bomb in somewhere between 3 and 4 months. As Iran steadily creeps up the enrichment level of its LEU that timeline shortens by the day.
    But what about the recent bombings that supposedly set the progrqm back by two years?
    That timeframe is troubling enough, but in reality, the situation could be much, much worse. Iran has been denying international inspectors access to some undeclared sites for months and has never answered questions related to possible undeclared nuclear activities.

    The sites in question are known to have been connected to an Iranian crash program in the early 2000’s that had the goal of quickly building five operational nuclear weapons. Those sites may be active again, and there may be an entire portion of the Iranian nuclear weapons program hidden from our view.

    #4  Do you believe everything you read?

    I’m just a little civilian housewife who has only been to civilized places, Thorong Grundy1520. I put the articles up from Fred-approved sources — I rely on you lot to explain what they really mean.

    There is also this article at Strategy Page, which among other topics says,

    Along those lines, the chatter coming from Iran is that their nuclear enrichment (turning uranium into weapons grade material) facilities are again suffering massive equipment failures, as in the new centrifuges were apparently hacked, as they were nearly a decade ago by stuxnet. In addition, there have been bombs going off in some of these facilities, indicating Israeli agents were able to gain access and plant explosives. This is particularly disturbing for Iranian leaders because it indicates that Israel is able to recruit agents inside Iran, That’s what happens when a lot of young Iranians are openly angry at their own government.

    What are your thoughts?

    #7  I assume we won’t know until long afterward, my dear. Possibly even the Iranians aren’t certain, as it depends among other things on how many spare parts they have lying about or can get shipped in from abroad and how many unacknowledged uranium refinement sites remain hidden and untouched,.. To me “two years” just means somewhat longer than “two months“, but possibly not nearly as long as “ten years“... all of which are rough estimates. The Israelis and those helping them translate that liberated warehouse-full of documents no doubt have a better idea, but they aren’t telling yet. And if Skidmark is right about native talent pitching in...
