Houthis destroy schools at behest of Iran
ADEN: Houthi militias are blowing up schools and changing curricula in Yemen to push their pro-Iran agenda, according to a Saudi Press Agency (SPA) report.

Facing difficulty on the battlefield, Houthi militias are choosing to disrupt educational facilities “with the aim of achieving their empowerment, control and governance,” it was reported.

The appointment of the brother of the Houthi coup leader as minister of education in the internationally unrecognized government means curricula are being charged with “sectarian thoughts and ideologies that serve their policies and agenda being supported by Iran,” SPA said.

Pro-Iran material is being planted in schools, especially those at the primary and preparatory educational stages — and at the expense of other material relating to Islamic history, it was reported.

Sources told SPA that Houthi militias have closed 13 civil universities, about 50 specialized programs in other universities and sections of Qur’anic studies at universities in Hodeidah and Sanaa, and introduced new programs to teach the Persian language.

Arabs urge Qatar to accept 6 principles to combat extremism
[DAWN] Four Arab nations that cut ties with Qatar
...an emirate on the east coast of the Arabian Peninsula. It sits on some really productive gas and oil deposits, which produces the highest per capita income in the world. They piss it all away on religion, financing the Moslem Brotherhood and several al-Qaeda affiliates...
urged the tiny Gulf nation on Tuesday to commit to six principles on combating extremism and terrorism, and to negotiate a plan with specific measures for implementing the principles in a step that could pave the way for early resolution of the crisis.

Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Egypt and Bahrain broke diplomatic relations with Qatar in early June, alleging that the state supports terrorist and holy warrior groups ─ a charge that Qatar has rejected. They initially made 13 demands, which were also dismissed by Qatar.

Saudi Arabia's United Nations
...a formerly good idea gone bad...
(UN) Ambassador Abdallah al-Mouallimi, in a briefing for a group of UN correspondents, said that the four nations are now committed to the six principles agreed to by their foreign ministers at a meeting in Cairo on July 5. The nations hope that Qatar will support them as well.

The principles include commitments to combat extremism and terrorism, prevent financing and safe havens for such groups, and suspend all acts of provocation and speeches that incite hatred or violence.

Al-Mouallimi said the four-nation quartet thinks it "should be easy for the Qataris to accept" the six principles.

He stressed that implementation and monitoring must be "essential components," and "there will be no compromise when it comes to principles."

However,
a hangover is the wrath of grapes...
he said that both sides can talk about details of "the tactics" and "the tools" to implement the principles "and that's where we can have discussion and compromise."

Britain
Man Accused of Islamophobic Hijab Attack Says he was ‘Racially Abused’ by Muslim on Underground
On the 17th I bet that the young women made up the whole thing. Now the question becomes, was she trying to avoid punishment for coming home late or was this a spot of Twitter jihad?
[Breitbart] A man accused of an "Islamophobic" hate crime by a Moslem on Twitter has denied the assault, insisting the story was made up, and that he and his partner were in fact racially abused by the other party.

The story ‐ played out on social media and involving numerous competing claims and counter claims of alleged religious and ethnic aggregative factors ‐ has been latched onto by activists and journalists alike.

A Moslem woman, 18, and her ’Christian’ friend say a man tore off her hijab and spat in her face. After identifying him online, they contacted his employer demanding action, and called him a racist.

The man has since strongly denied
No, no! Certainly not!
the claims, insisting he merely broke up a fight started when his black girlfriend was attacked by the Moslem woman and her friends.

He claims the attack was launched on his girlfriend because they are in an "interracial relationship".

British Transport Police have confirmed to Breitbart London they are investigating both claims, and say they may release CCVT at a later stage.

Some on online have said the saga is a "terrifying" example of how the modern hate crime industry and "kangaroo court" of social media and public opinion can distort justice.

It all began when the Moslem women, Aniso Abdulkadir, Tweeted a photo of the man and his girlfriend on London’s tube, captioned: "This man at Baker Street station forcibly attempted to pull my hijab off and when I instinctively grabbed ahold of my scarf he hit me." The Tweet has now been deleted.

She added on the social media site: "He proceeded to verbally abuse my friends and I, pinning one of them against the wall and spitting in her face... The woman was throwing out threats and was also verbally abusive."

Her photo quickly garnered more than 30,000 re-Tweets, with people praising her for "calling out racism" and urging the public to help "track down" the couple.

However,
a person who gets all wrapped up in himself makes a mighty small package...
when the man responded, saying he was "accused of completely false allegations" and making counter claims, his account was largely ignored by the media until some online began questioning Ms. Abdulkadir’s story.

Pawel Uczciwek, who has identified himself as the man in the photograph, also wrote: "I defended my partner by trying to completely diffuse a racist attack from three random females... I NEVER hit, or attacked anyone..."

"The police is fully cooperative with me and will be able to obtain CCTV footage showing the three women attempting to attack my partner because we are in an interracial relationship", the 28-year-old architect from London added.

The complainant’s friend, known as "Lux" online, claimed to have been there and wrote on Twitter: "Islamophobia
...the irrational fear that Moslems will act the way they usually do...
has been normalised and it’s genuinely scary... whatever counter argument even if it’s completely absurd people will agree with it just so they can blame Moslems for everything..."

As people more people began questioning her account, Ms. Abdulkadir also hit back by labeling them racist. "For those continuously calling me a liar: I owe no one an explanation", she wrote, adding: "I put this post out to find our attacker... not for dead ass racists to be all up in my mentions giving their trivial comments".

"Unfortunately we have constant cause to talk to Turkey about civil and press freedoms," government front man Steffen Seibert told a news conference. "We think it is important to review aid in light of the latest developments."

Seibert was referring to a package of assistance totalling three billion euros that the EU has promised to Turkey to help stem flows of migrants colonists, mostly from conflict zones in the Middle East, into Europe.

The deal has helped to sharply reduce the number of arrivals and has been especially welcomed by Germany, the preferred destination for the migrants colonists, and Chancellor Angela Merkel

German Foreign Minister Sigmar Gabriel cut short his holiday to deal with the latest rise in tensions with Turkey, whose ability to rekindle Europe's refugee crisis could harm Merkel's prospects in a national election due in September.

The six rights activists are among tens of thousands of Turks swept up in a crackdown that followed last year's failed coup against Ottoman Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan. Many have accused Erdogan of using the dragnet as an excuse to purge opponents.

"Claims of terrorist links are absurd," the German foreign ministry said in a statement demanding consular access to its citizen and the release of all the activists. "It is appalling to accuse Amnesty and other rights organizations of terrorism."

Bilateral relations have already been tested by, among other issues, Turkey's arrest of Deniz Yucel, a Ottoman Turkish-German dual national who is a correspondent for the German newspaper Die Welt, on similar terrorism and propaganda charges.

Ankara is seeking the extradition of army officers whom it accuses of involvement in the coup attempt. Berlin has declined to return the men, who have sought asylum in Germany

Turkey claims Daimler, BASF, and other German companies support terror
[DW] Ottoman Turkish authorities named dozens of German firms as supporters of the Gulen movement in a list they sent to Germany's federal police, according to Die Zeit weekly. The list includes industry giants Daimler and BASF.

Ankara has handed Germany what police sources called a "ridiculous" list of 68 companies and individuals in Germany who have ties with Fethullah Gulen
... a Turkish preacher living in Pennsylvania whom the current govt of Turkey considers responsible for all the ills afflicting Turkey and possibly the entire world...
, enemy of President Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First
... Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him...
, Die Zeit reported on Wednesday.

The list, forwarded to Germany several weeks ago, names the car maker Daimler and chemical company BASF as backers of terrorism, but also includes a Ottoman Turkish fast food restaurant and a late-night food store.

Earlier this month, Erdogan told Die Zeit that his officials sent 4,500 files on alleged Gulen sympathizers to Germany and demanded that the they be extradited to Turkey.
He is the Sultan. All non-sultans must obey his merest whim.
"You need to deliver these gunnies to Turkey," he said. "As long as you don't, Turkey will perceive Germany as a country which is protecting terrorists."

German officials view the list from Ankara as "absurd" and "ridiculous." Germany's Federal Criminal Police (BKA) has requested additional information from their Ottoman Turkish colleagues, but received no reply so far, Die Zeit reports.

Germany has been locked in a long-running diplomatic row with Turkey, with Berlin slamming the purges by Erdogan's administration and accusing the Ottoman Turkish government of using violence to silence its political opponents. Earlier on Wednesday, Germany summoned the Ottoman Turkish ambassador in Berlin to protest the arrest of several human rights

Number of terrorist attacks globally dropped in 2016: US government
[AlAhram] The number of terrorist attacks worldwide and deaths from such attacks dropped in 2016 for the second straight year, driven by decreases in Afghanistan, Syria, Nigeria, Pakistain and Yemen, the U.S. State Department said on Wednesday.

The total number of terrorist attacks in 2016 dropped 9 percent compared to 2015, while fatalities caused by the attacks fell 13 percent, the department said in a report on global terrorism.

(IS) was the deadliest terrorist group last year, carrying out 20 percent more attacks in Iraq and causing 69 percent more deaths there compared to 2015.

Data compiled by the University of Maryland for the State Department showed there were a total of 11,072 terrorist attacks worldwide last year, resulting in more than 25,600 deaths. Of those deaths, 6,700 were of perpetrators of the attacks.

Terrorist attacks took place in 104 countries in 2016, but the majority occurred in just five countries: Iraq, Afghanistan, India, Pakistain and the Philippines. Three-quarters of all deaths from terrorist attacks took place in Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, Nigeria and Pakistain.

The report spoke positively of recent efforts by Sudan, which was placed on the list of U.S.-designated state sponsors of terrorism in 1993 because of its support of Paleostinian and Lebanese turban groups.

"Notwithstanding this history, countering terrorism is today a national security priority for Sudan, and Sudan is a cooperative partner of the United States on counterterrorism," the report said.

Other U.S.-listed state sponsors of terrorism are Iran and Syria.

State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauert told news hounds in June that no matter what decision is made on the Sudan sanctions, the designation of Sudan as a state sponsor of terrorism will remain in place.

A June filing with the Justice Department showed that Sudan had hired law firm Squire Patton Boggs LLP at a monthly fee of $40,000 to represent Sudan's interests in Washington, including avoiding a "snap back" of U.S. sanctions.
The Times of Israel has more about the annual “Country Reports on Terrorism” just released by the State Department.

Peters Blasts Sentence for ISIS Supporter
[INSIDER.FOXNEWS] Fox News strategic analyst Lt. Col. Ralph Peters (Ret.) sounded off this morning on a Minnesota federal judge's decision to order an ISIS supporter to undergo "terrorist rehabilitation."

Abdullahi Yusuf, a 21-year-old from Minnesota's Somali community, was sentenced last November by federal judge Michael Davis after he was jugged
Drop the rosco, Muggsy, or you're one with the ages!
for plotting to join the terrorist organization.

Yusuf then allegedly violated the terms of his 20-year supervised release by watching a documentary on ISIS fighters while at a halfway house.

Peters said this is a dangerous experiment for U.S. federal courts when dealing with suspected terrorists.

"Young Americans or residents need to know that if you try to join a terrorist organization, if you try to go to Iraq or Syria or Libya or anywhere else, you're gonna go to jail for a very, very long time. Punishment is underrated in our society. We want to treat everybody nice, we want to rehab them," he said, likening it to releasing a rabid dog in a petting zoo.

"You don't do it. This is serious. Rehab doesn't work for terrorists!"
Is Saudi Arabia still trying to rehab theirs?

over the Indian forces' policy in the region, manifested in the continued bloodshed of Kashmiris with impunity.

The delegation underscored that the indigenous movement of Kashmiris for their right to self-determination has entered an important phase since the martyrdom of Burhan Wani on July 8, 2016.

Aziz, during the meeting, reiterated that Jammu and Kashmire remains the core dispute between India and Pakistain. "The Kashmire issue's resolution is imperative for peace in South Asia," he said.

Since July last year, over 200 Kashmiris have died, many in extra-judicial killings and fake encounters, the delegation told Aziz.

It recounted that around 8,000 individuals have been affected by pellet guns, with more than 250 youth blinded either fully or partially and another 930 on the verge of losing their eye sight. Further, 697 women have reported molestation by Indian forces. Over 19,000 Kashmiris in all have been injured and around 18,000 incarcerated

'It's me today but it'll be others tomorrow,' PM warns opponents
[DAWN] Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif

"I am not worried about my accountability because if I am being held accountable today, others will face accountability tomorrow," he said while addressing party workers.

He was hopeful that "the people" would silence his critics in the 2018 general elections.

"Feel free to hold me accountable but at least tell me what I am accused of. Tell me where I was involved in corruption," he asked.

"You are asking us to show the money trail from 1972, but the way you looted us and nationalised our businesses, it is you who should show the money trail for where that money was spent," the premier said.

"Is Nawaz Sharif involved in a corruption or a kickback case?" he asked his opponents and critics.

US says Pakistan failed to act against Taliban, Haqqani Network
[DAWN] The United States has once again accused Pakistain of not taking significant action against the bad boy outfits and accusing them of operating from "Pakistain-based safe havens" to threaten the US and Afghan forces in Afghanistan.

The US State Department, in its annual "Country Reports on Terrorism 2016" released on Wednesday, said Islamabad has failed to take significant action to constrain the ability of the Afghan Taliban
...Arabic for students...
and Haqqani Network to operate from "Pakistain-based safe havens".

It mentioned the Afghan Taliban, the Haqqani Network, Lashkar-e-Taiba
...the Army of the Pure, an Ahl-e-Hadith terror organization founded by Hafiz Saeed. LeT masquerades behind the Jamaat-ud-Dawa facade within Pakistain and periodically blows things up and kills people in India. (LT), and Jaish-e-Muhammad (JM) as "groups located in Pakistain, but focused on conducting attacks outside the country".

The report accused that the government did not take any significant action against Jaish-e-Muhammad (JM) or Lashkar-e-Taiba (LT), "other than implementing an ongoing ban against media coverage of their activities".

"LT and JM continued to hold rallies, raise money, recruit, and train in Pakistain," it maintained.

"The government has not joined the Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS, although it designated ISIS as a terrorist organization in 2015. Police and security forces detained and killed a substantial number of ISIS-affiliated terrorists," the report said.

‘Father of Taliban’ Sami-ul-Haq offers conditional support to Afghan peace process

has offered a conditional support for the grinding of the peace processor in Afghanistan.

According to a statement released by Maula Sami’s office, the leader of the party has said he is prepared to support the Afghan grinding of the peace processor but the foreign forces must leave the country first.

He has reportedly made the remarks during a meeting with the Afghan ambassador to Pakistain.

The statement further added that the Afghan ambassador met with Maulana Sami to play his part in encouraging the Afghan Taliban
...Arabic for students...
to peace talks, considering his influential role.

In the meantime, Maulana Sami has called on the government of Pakistain to reconsider its policies in Afghanistan, claiming that India is taking advantage from the ongoing situation in the region.

Maulana Sami is the founder of Haqqani Madrasa in Pakistain from where several key Taliban leaders have graduated and it is believed that he is also having a key influence on the Afghan bully boys, considering the close relations he had with the Taliban founder Mullah Mohammad Omar.

The Afghan officials are saying that Pak could play a key role in the reconciliation process and ending the violence in Afghanistan, insisting that the leadership councils of both the Taliban and the notorious Haqqani terrorist network are based inside the Pak soil where they have freedom of action and safe havens.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Palestinian Authority's 2017 Budget Shows ‘Huge Increase' in Funding for Terror Payments
[Algemeiner] The Palestinian Authority’s 2017 budget shows a "huge increase" in the funding of salaries for imprisoned terrorists and the families of "martyrs," an Israeli research institute revealed on Wednesday.

According to Palestinian Media Watch (PMW), the amount of money allocated by the PA for payments to terrorists jailed in Israel rose 13% this year to $158 million -- compared to $135 million in 2016. During the same time frame, disbursements for family members of dead terrorists increased by 4% -- to $197 million from $183 million.

Overall, PMW said, the PA is spending $355 million this year on the direct funding of terrorism.

Itamar Marcus -- the founder and director of PMW -- told The Algemeiner on Wednesday, "There is no greater promotion of terror then the PA’s financially rewarding terrorists who have murdered Israelis. However it is critical to understand why the PA pays the salaries and why they refuse to stop. The PA claims that they have a right under international law to ’resist’ Israel and that includes murdering Israelis. They argue to their own people that to stop paying the salaries to prisoners would be to admit that all of the prisoners including murderers of women and children are terrorists and not legitimate ’freedom fighters.’ Accordingly, as horrific as the PA’s rewarding terror is, it is a symptom of a much deeper problem. The essential problem is that the PA tells its people they have a right to kill Israelis. Paying salaries to the killers who get caught and are imprisoned is a symptom."

Operation Good Neighbor: Israel reveals its massive humanitarian aid to Syria
[IsraelTimes] Detailing its outreach for the first time, officers say the IDF is building clinics inside its war-torn neighbor and treating sick children in Israel; hundreds of tons of food, medicine and fuel sent to ravaged border towns

The Israeli military on Wednesday unveiled the scope of its humanitarian assistance in Syria that has dramatically mushroomed over the last year to include treating chronically ill children who have no access to hospitals, building clinics in Syria, and supplying hundreds of tons of food, medicines and clothes to war-ravaged villages across the border.

Since Syria disintegrated in a brutal civil war that has left hundreds of thousands dead and millions displaced, Israel has struggled with how to deal with the humanitarian disaster taking place just across the border, a dilemma made even more complicated by the fact that Israel and Syria remain officially at war.

Israel initially responded by providing medical treatment to Syrians maimed in the war, treating more than 3,000 people in field hospitals on the border and in public hospitals, mostly in northern Israel since 2013.

But on Wednesday the army revealed that since June 2016 it has quietly been working on Operation Good Neighbor, a massive multi-faceted humanitarian relief operation to keep starvation away from the thousands of Syrians who live along the border and provide basic medical treatment to those who cannot access it in Syria because of the war.

In the year since the operation was launched, over 600 Syrian children, accompanied by their mothers, have come to Israel for treatment. Hundreds of tons of food, medical equipment and clothing have also been sent across the border to Syria, clearly bearing Hebrew labels from Israeli companies.

The IDF is also currently facilitating the construction of two clinics within Syria, which will be run by locals and workers from NGOs. This includes logistical coordination and sending over building materials and medical equipment, according to the army.

These clinics are meant to support 80,000 Syrians living in the area near the Syrian city of Quneitra, just across the border.

Inside Israel, another clinic is also being constructed. This one, being built at an army outpost that currently carries the bland name Outpost 116, will be guarded by the IDF but staffed entirely by NGO officials. It will be operated only during the day and is therefore meant to be used to treat Syrians suffering from less severe injuries.

As part of the operation, the army has also stepped up the amount of humanitarian aid it transfers to Syria, in some cases dramatically.

According to IDF figures, the quantity of food sent to Syria has increased tenfold in the past year, from a few dozen tons between 2013 and 2016 to 360 tons in 2016 to 2017 alone.

The amount of clothes, baby formula, medical supplies, diesel fuel and generators being transferred to Syrians have also significantly increased in that time.

While the officers involved in the operation stressed Wednesday that there is no mass starvation on the border, they said there are food shortages, which drives up the price of bread and other essentials.

Israel, therefore, sends over hundreds of tons of flour, oil, sugar, salt, canned beans and dry goods. It has also sent 12,000 cases of baby formula and 1,800 packages of diapers.

Israel has also seen fit to send over eight cars and six mules, the military said.

According to the IDF, most of this humanitarian aid was donated by NGOs, but some was also provided by the Israeli government directly.

Hizb ut-Tahrir Indonesia banned 'to protect unity'
[Al Jazeera] Indonesia has banned the Hizbut Tahrir
...an al-Qaeda recruiting organization banned in most countries. It calls for the reestablishment of the Caliphate...
group under a controversial presidential decree that gives officials the authority to disband organizations deemed to threaten national unity.

The legal status of Hizbut Tahrir, which campaigns for the country to adopt Islamic law and become a caliphate, was revoked on Wednesday to protect Indonesia's unity, according to Freddy Hari, the director-general of the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights.

The group condemned the ban and said it "will not remain silent", vowing to challenge the decision in court.

The government's move comes a week after President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo signed a presidential decree that gives the government almost unfettered power to ban groups that go against "national unity and the existence of the Indonesian nation".

Legal expert Refly Harun said it was the first time in the reform era that the government had disbanded an organization without due process of law.

"The presidential decree is a blank cheque for the government to disband any group without due process of law," he told the AFP news agency.

Iranian IRGC: U.S. Military Must Leave Iran's Borders and Stop Calling us Terrorists
[Newsweek] The leader of Iran's elite Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) has slammed the U.S.'s decision to pursue further sanctions against Tehran and urged Washington to curb its military presence in the region.

IRGC commander Major General Mohammad Ali Jafari demanded Wednesday the U.S. withdraw all of its military bases within 1,000 kilometers (more than 621 miles) of Iran's borders, a distance that encompasses most of the U.S.'s operations in the Middle East and Afghanistan. The remarks came in response to the White House's decision to impose more economic sanctions against the country only a day after President Donald Trump's administration concluded Iran was in compliance with their 2015 nuclear treaty. The State Department said Tuesday that the new sanctions were due to Iran's support for groups the U.S. designates as terrorist organizations, a label the U.S. has considered applying to the IRGC itself. Jafari countered these charges during his most recent address.

#1  ...In a perfect world, the commanders of the IRGC would have the same turnover rate - and lifespan - as the leaders of ISIS or Al Queda. When people start to realize that getting the job shortens your lifespan considerably, it tends to be nowhere near as much fun.

Trump orders the CIA to halt all financial, military aid for rebels in Syria
Oh my -- the Decider deciding.
[ALMASDARNEWS] Over six years after the Syrian revolt first began, the US administration has finally decided to indefinitely give up on its long-standing support for supposedly moderate rebel groups in the war-torn country.

According to US officials, Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
has decided to end the CIA’s covert program to arm and train forces of Evil opposed to the Syrian Arab Army (SAA). This arming program was put into effect by the B.O. regime in 2013 and looked to topple Bashir al-Assad.

After talks with Russia, the White House will now phase out the secret program, a move which is likely to have grave implications for US-vetted Free Syrian Army
... the more palatable version of the Syrian insurgency, heavily influenced by the Moslem Brüderbund...
(FSA) factions based in southern Syria around the al-Tanf border crossing.

Although the CIA declined to comment, US officials told the Washington Post that Trump decided to scrap the CIA program nearly a month ago ahead of a meeting on July 7 with Russian President Vladimir Putin
...Second and fourth President and sixth of the Russian Federation and the first to remain sober. Putin is credited with bringing political stability and re-establishing something like the rule of law, which occasionally results in somebody dropping dead from polonium poisoning. Under Putin, a new group of business magnates controlling significant swathes of Russia's economy has emerged, all of whom have close personal ties to Putin. The old bunch, without close personal ties to Putin, are in jail or in exile or dead...
. "This is a momentous decision ... Putin won in Syria," said a current official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss a covert program.

"It’s probably a nod to reality," said Ilan Goldenberg, a former B.O. regime official and director of the Middle East Security Program at the Center for a New American Security.

Once this sudden change of policy is fully implemented, al-Masdar News expects the US Army will evacuate its troops from the al-Tanf military base and fly them to Kurdish-held territory in Hasakah, thereby leaving rebel forces in southern Syria to fend for themselves against the SAA.

The plan does not involve the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), a Kurdish-led fighting force in northern Syria which has had its supply of heavy weapons and armored vehicles increased in recent months.

Iran's president threatens response to new US sanctions
[DAWN] Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said Wednesday that Tehran would "respond appropriately" to new US sanctions but that Iran remained committed to its nuclear deal with world powers.

"The Islamic Theocratic Republic of Iran will always stick to its international commitments," Rouhani said in a televised cabinet meeting.

But if the US wants "to press forward with new sanctions under any pretext... the great nation of Iran will respond appropriately," he said.

"We will not forgive violations by the Americans and we will stand against them." His comments came a day after the US and Iran traded tit-for-tat sanctions over the Islamic republic's ballistic missile programme.

The State Department slapped sanctions on 18 individuals and entities in Iran, hours after the White House admitted Tehran was adhering to the 2015 agreement.

Iran hit back with its own sanctions against "American people and entities that have acted against the Iranian people and other Moslem peoples of the region." Rouhani on Wednesday accused Washington of "duplicity".
